Chapter 3: When Lola met June and Bea

As time went by, while maintaining her sporting events and doing her errands here and there for Warner Brothers, it may be seen that Lola hoped that one day she'll finally get her chance to be in a few short cartoons like Bugs, Daffy, Porky, Sylvester, and Tweety. All the while she worked, she remembered the advice Bugs gave her.

Becoming a star doesn't happen overnight, if anything, it takes time. So don't be surprised if it takes a long time for you to get a short.

But while Lola waited patiently and performed her tasks, unbeknownst to her, at the main office where Mr. Isaac Plotz worked: he, Lester, Heidi and Josef were busy interviewing actresses who were auditioning, all but with one goal and purpose in mind… to get hired so they could be the voice of Lola.

Among the women who audition included, but did not limit to: Vivien Leigh, Judy Garland, Katherine Hepburn, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Mae West, Fay Wray, Gloria Swanson, Lucille Ball, Adriana Caselotti and Ingrid Bergman.

Ultimately while they were good, just not that good. It was agreed in the end that, if anything, a voice actress was needed, not a regular actress. The four soon came to an agreement the proper women to hire would be both June Foray and Bea Benaderet. And it was a good thing too, as Mr. Plotz was running out of ideas of whom to choose.

In the meantime, Lola was sorting out the mail when the two ladies swung by. A moment later, Lola was introduced to them.

"Hello, Bea. Hello, June." she said, "It's very nice to meet you both."

"Same here," replied June, shaking her hand with Lola.

"You too, Lola," answered Bea, who also shook Lola's hand. "Incidentally, Mr. Plotz wants to see you in his office right away."

Oh, don't tell me that I'm fired already, Lola thought rather worriedly to herself.

"What for?" she asked aloud

"Search us," replied June.

"You'll have to wait and see for yourself." Bea replied.

So off Lola went to Mr. Plotz's office. But while she was on the way, there was still a worried look on her face. Upon her arrival she stopped outside his office and knocked on the door nervously.

"Come in," he said from behind the door.

Lola did so and sat herself down.

"You wanted to see, Mr. Plotz?" Lola asked.

"Ah, Lola, I was expecting you," Isaac nodded. "First off, are you still enjoying working with us here?"

"Yes sir, I am." she nodded, not sure how else to answer the question. "I'm not fired, am I, sir?"

"Fired?" laughed Mr. Plotz, "Where in the world would get an idea like that?" Lola was about to explain herself, but Mr. Plotz went on speaking as he smiled warmly, "No, Lola, the real reason I called you here was because of some good news that I have for you."

"What is it?" asked Lola.

"After working on writing some scripts," Mr. Plotz explained, "I am happy to announce that Har believes that he has thought up some cartoon shorts for you to star in."

Lola did a double-take.

Am I just dreaming things or is this really happening, she asked herself. I really need to pinch myself. She did so. Ouch! Note to self: If I ever find misogynistic nincompoop who came up with the saying 'Pinch me, I'm dreaming' I'll kill him.

"Are you serious?" Lola asked aloud.

Lola braced herself for the answer, even though it was fairly obvious. The answer she would soon learn that all be revealed very soon… in the next chapter.

Author's notes:

* So that was the third chapter of my Lola AU, as always, let me know what you thought of it. Sorry it was a short one, but I wanted to keep this a rather brief and to the point one.
* For those of you who gonna tell me that June Foray wasn't by Warner Brothers until after 1952, no need, I am aware of this fact.
- If anything, I had her interviewed in this chapter as a backup voice over for Lola after Bea Benaderet steps down.
* I'll give anyone bonus points who gets Lola's 'If I ever find misogynistic nincompoop who came up with the saying 'Pinch me, I'm dreaming' I'll kill him.' reference, and where I got it from.
* I own nothing in this fanfiction, as such: Lola Bunny, all rights and everything else are owned and © by Warner Brothers.

Until the next chapter, my fellow readers and Toons:
