13. An Update

A/N:

Hi everyone. First thing's first, this is not a new chapter (but this chapter will be replaced with the actual story soon). Sorry if you came looking for one! Hopefully you'll keep reading it once it's released.

Second, my very long absence... sorry. It's been dawning on me that the course of this story can be done somewhat differently, more effectively. I've been too nervous to change the actual written chapters, because I know that it may upset some of you, and so I just ended up not writing anything at all. But I do genuinely believe that one very important point in the story must change for me to continue with it.

If you'd like to keep up with the changes I'm making, then I've updated Chapter 10 for you today, and will edit chapters 11 and 12 in the next two days. If you'd like to stay afloat of all the changes, then I suggest you read chapters 9 and 10.

More specifically, the chapter changes will be:

1. From chapters 5 to 8, smaller things will be updated. If you're not super keen on reading these updates, so long as you know the spoiler, I think you're fine.

2. The old Chapter 9 has been split up into two chapters (so Chapter 9 became chapters 9 and 10). This is to give the new direction more breathing room and space to grow. I'd recommend that you read Chapter 9 and 10.

3. The current Chapter 10 will become Chapter 11 with a few small changes, and the current Chapter 11 will become Chapter 12 with a few small changes. No need to read these either.

4. This chapter (Chapter 12) will then become Chapter 13.

To keep up with where we are in terms of the changes, please look out for the top of each chapter, which will have "CHAPTER CURRENTLY BEING REWRITTEN" if it's not been updated yet.

If you'd like spoilers on what's changed so that you can continue reading the story from this chapter on, then please read the bottom of this chapter.

I've been really scared of changing this story, and I am very nervous about the reception it will have, but I can't be true to the story and not uproot some of the work I've already done. Hopefully you will agree that this is a better way to deal with the story once you've read it, but if you disagree, or just don't want to read it at all, then thank you anyway for following Zuko and Katara along on this journey.

Aside from that, please keep an eye out for a replacement to this chapter!
