Hello! It's been awhile, So I have two big things I'd like to talk about before the update.
The first one is the finale! I thought it was alright. The Webby twist was ok, and I really like the idea of Scrooge and Beakley co parenting Webby, also, Goldie's technically a mom now! love may and June. They are adorable and I'm glad Donald and daisy basically adopted them! Now after reading over what's already been written so far, I think I might be able to work a few elements of the finale into the story. (I'm coming up with ways to put may and June in. As well as some others. I can't wait for you guys to see them all!)
Now as for the second one... well I have more mixed thoughts on that. The Darkwing reboot by Seth Rogen and his company that might not be connected to DT. On one hand it kinda feels like they're putting a lot of really good material to waste. (Negaduck, the search for Gos's grandpa, Gos's adoption ) but on the other hand it feels like people are being a bit too harsh on something that hasn't even come out yet and may not even actually exist. I've seen whole petitions for it to be canceled already. (In related reboot news ,I'd like to go over a list of prospective voice actors for it but that is for another author's note) I am kinda holding out for a possible adaptation of the crisis of infinite Darkwing arc from the boom! Comics run, that could bring in the 17 and 91 versions for cameos or something. Or maybe I just really want an adaptation of the boom comics run regardless of who does it, they have their flaws (they did Negaduck and Morgana dirty, had a really bad female villain with a really sexist design, and gave us that awful original DT crossover) but I like em and I highly recommend them. There's a nice storyline going on and it's a shame they got canceled before they could wrap things up. Wow. I really got off topic there didn't I? Well the show must go on!
Chapter nineteen: A New Normal
Max
Well tonight certainly got weird.
Once all the smoke cleared he could get a good glimpse of the girl talking. She looked like she was around Larry's age. She was wearing a green Robin Hood hat and her red hair was past her shoulders. She wore mostly light shades of purple, and a green and black cape was draped around her shoulders. There was a dark green mask around her eyes. She wore green gloves on her hands in which she held a crossbow, Aimed at the robber.
She looked all set to fire when there was a crash behind her. She suddenly turned around. Another person had fallen off the rafters and straight to the ground. "Honker are you ok?!" She yelled at the person, who groaned as he sat up. He was a young chicken with a quiver of arrows in his arms and was wearing quite possibly the most ridiculous headgear anybody has ever worn. It was a giant plastic helmet in the shape of an arrow. Some people had started laughing.
The girl cringed a bit. "And this is my sidekick the arrow kid." She said, clearly embarrassed by the laughter. "Now, give back that money evildoer!" She said.
"Make me." The robber retorted. He lifted up his arm, on which there was a gauntlet, that blasted a beam of light at the girl.
She jumped down from the rafters. She yelled something about a glue arrow to the arrow kid before he tossed it over to her. Max didn't really catch a lot of it after that. He was grabbed by a weird golden eyed dude who looked really freaked out about something. "Oh thank god ,you're also here. Come on, We gotta help your dad."
Max scoffed. "Well then I'm not coming. My dad hates me." He could remember all the forced fishing trips, all the rants about how he's a failure in every way, all the times he was told he was going to end up in jail someday. After all that, why should he help him. Besides, what did this guy have anything to do with them? Come to think of it, how did he even recognize him?
"The names Gene. Other details can wait for later. now I have Louie and now all I have to do is go get Quiverwing and the arrow kid and we can get outta here and find Scrooge and daisy, wherever they are. Go pick up the sabrewing girls and round up all the people who were stuck in that amulet and...
"What the hell are you talking about?" This guy's gotta be crazy. He's just rambling on and on about people stuck in an amulet, and knowing Scrooge McDuck.
"Just come with me." The guy - "Gene" or whatever grabbed his hand and dragged him away from his seat. They wound up near a booth in a corner of the restaurant. In that booth was Larry.
"I assume you already know Louie?"
"Hey." He probably should've known that "Larry" was a fake name In hindsight, given the kid was living in the woods and refused to give his real name to him, so why would he give it to his boss?
"Ok, you guys stay here and when quiverwing quack and the arrow kid are done with the phantom blot I'll get them and we can plan our next move.
"How do you even know that guy?" Louie asked.
"I was trapped in his gauntlet for months." Gene muttered. Immediately following that sentence was a rather colorful string of words. Some Mac had never even heard of. It certainly taught him more than actual school ever did.
There were several loud crashes and yells, and the sounds of arrows zipping through the air. Soon, the three heard sirens and the sounds of police saying things like "put your arms up." And "thank you kids for stopping this person." And blah blah blah, until Gene suddenly bolted over to the kids.
Quiverwing was the first one he asked "The purple guy's your dad, right?"
"I never knew my dad. He left when I was a baby..."
"Not your biological dad, your adoptive one."
"I wasn't adopted." The girl looked like she was starting to get irritated . "Now I don't know what sick twisted game you're playing but me and the arrow kid need to go back to our base."
"Then take us with you!"
"Who's us?" Now it was the arrow kid's turn to talk.
"Over here." Louie said. He started to get out of his seat and walked right over to the two vigilantes. "And we're just as confused as you are."
"Look. I know you don't remember anything. But you've all lost a lot. He pointed to Max and Quiverwing . "You two, both lost your fathers in this mess. They're ok, but their trapped." He pointed to the arrow kid next "And you don't have any memory of you're family. Both your biological and the one you found all on your own." He then pointed to Louie. "And you lost your whole family because your uncle said things he never meant..."
"Oh he meant them alright. I know he did." Louie retorted.
"No you don't. You really don't.
A silence washed over them. All deep in thought.
Max hadn't had contact with his dad for years.
He didn't know his whereabouts or if he was still dating that librarian from college or if he still lived in their old house or anything.
Who knows what could've happened.
"I never knew my parents." The arrow kid broke the silence. "I was raised in the system."
"Same here." Quiverwing said. "There's another girl back at the base who was raised in the system too. We all sort of escaped. We found a bridge tower in aubodon bay bridge. That's our base. It's huge, there's a motorcycle in there, it's behind the diner actually. And there's a supercomputer built in. It's amazing. We don't know who had it last but whoever it was, must've been either rich or a superhero or something. And there were all these costumes there and there's a lot of crime around here so we thought we could try being superheroes."
"Sounds strangely convenient." Gene remarked.
"You want a ride to the base to make your weird plans to look for people or not." Max retorted.
"Hey, no one said anything about us giving you a ride..." The arrow kid started to say. "But we'll do it anyway. " Quiverwing said, interrupting the arrow kid. "I gotta say, I'm kinda curious now."
"Great! So it's settled. We'll go over to your place and start planning out the details. And when we..." Gene went on and on about everyone they needed to find but max wasn't paying much attention. As he started walking out of the building to wherever that motorcycle was. He realized something.
He hadn't really been around a lot of people in the last couple of years. The last people that he really remembered hanging out with regularly probably hated him. And for good reasons too.
And then Louie showed up at his doorstep begging for food.
And now here he he is with a bunch of other different people off to look for a bunch of people he either dosen't wanna see again or just doesn't know.
He never really expected to be around so many people again.
Oh well. He was starting to get a little lonely anyway.
Daisy
After what felt like days they were finally starting to get closer to land.
"We're almost at shore, Scrooge."
"That's great lass." He had a faraway look in his eyes, like he was thinking of something (or someone) he knew of. Someone he thought of very fondly...
Oh well. She could make fun of him for the whole Goldie thing later. Now they were getting closer and closer to land, about to renter civilization, now as fugitives.
They were gonna need disguises. The breakout was probably all over the news by now. And they'd need fake names too. The first thing they'd do back on the mainland was probably get new clothes and maybe get a wig or something for disguises.
But they didn't have any money.
Eh. They'd just steal all the stuff then.
The best they could do now was try to find others like them. People who had figured out what happened. People who remembered.
Now all they had to worry about was what was their next step.
Della
They were all going to end up in the looney bin now, weren't they?
Figures.
Eh, nothing she couldn't handle.
She punched the medic in the face with her free arm. Goldie had already put a medic in a headlock, and Drake had slipped out of a medic's grip and was now running around the apartment, ducking and hiding and overall just trolling the medics going after him and riling them up.
"Come on. We're getting outta here!" Della yelled as she slammed a medic into the wall, knocking him out.
"He'll be fine"
The ensuing chaos went by in a blur. She remembered the three of them running frantically through the door and into the hallway, with angry medics chasing them. She could vaguely recall running down the stairs with them and going through the lobby and eventually running out of the building. It was a strange feeling. She knew she was there, she could feel herself running, but it felt like some kind of dream. Like none of it was real.
She wished it wasn't.
Lena
Step one: distraction.
"Hey, who's blowing spitballs in my hair?!"
She took the straw out of her mouth and giggled a bit, watching the sheriff frantically try to dig the spitballs out of his hair.
Step two: grab one of Violet's hairpins.
Ah yes, one of the oldest lock picking tricks around. A bit cliche, but hey it's not like any of this real so maybe it'll work.
Lena stuck the pin into the lock , it took a lot of twists and picking but soon, she was able to unlock the cell door.
The plan wasn't anything brilliant. It was stupid simple. But it worked.
It took the sheriff a few seconds to realize they had escaped but his attempts to wrangle them were fruitless.
They ran out of the sheriff's office and back into the town, the goal was to make it back to the town sign and back through the woods.
They were going to fix this. They had to at least try.
Dewey
He'd been thinking.
Where was Louie anyway?
He hadn't sent any messages or really kept in contact with them at all. Was he ok?
He missed him.
For years it always been the three of them. They were triplets, the Duck boys. They were brothers. They annoyed the hell out of each other but they still loved each other.
Just because someone said a bunch of words that were forced into their mouth doesn't mean that they were no longer family.
And he worried about him. Was he all alone out there? Did he move in with someone? Was he in the system?
Was he safe?
Dewey needed to know.
"Dewey? You've quiet for a really long time now, are you ok?" Huey asked, snapping him out of his thoughts.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I was just wondering..."
"Yeah?"
"What if we tried to go find Louie?"
Once again I apologize for the mediocre writing since I am currently finishing this chapter after midnight and I am sorry that it took this long for me to get back to this. I have been having a lot of issues with my anxiety lately and I realized that I might have OCD and recently I have been suffering from intrusive thoughts that made this chapter very difficult to do. It's why I haven't been writing as much as I used to and really wanna get back it and try to keep going! I really do adore this story but I'm trying to take care of myself first and I'm going to try to keep getting back to this story. Thank you for understanding! And I hope you enjoy what's to come!
