Chapter 10

Motherly Instincts

By the time Elsa was in her eighth month of pregnancy, she had slowed down in terms of work. Anna insisted on taking over her duties, since she was in no shape for them. Elsa looked massive; she felt like she was going to pop. She couldn't fit into her dresses at the moment, so she had to create new ice dresses that would cover her stomach. It was humiliating, but Elsa knew that it was all a part of the pregnancy. Another change that was occurring in Elsa was that her motherly instincts were beginning to grow. She and Anna went shopping for baby supplies and had a great time with it. Kristoff was kind enough to set up the bassinet in Elsa's room for when the baby arrived. When Elsa first saw it, she felt a glow of happiness, knowing that her baby would soon be sleeping there. Anna, Kristoff, Kai, Gerda, were relieved to see that Elsa was happier in the past few months. They offered any support they could for her at this time. Elsa was thankful to have such a loving family, even more so knowing that her baby would be loved by them too. Still, every so often, doubts of her being a mother crept into her mind. Even though she had control of her powers, what if she hurt the baby? Elsa remembered how awful she felt when she hurt Anna all those years ago, but to hurt her own child, would simply be too much to bear. But love was the key, wasn't it? She would love this baby, so there was no need to be afraid. That consolation worked well for a while, but the terrible thought eventually reared its ugly head again. Sometimes at night, when Elsa couldn't sleep, she would stand out on the balcony, and watch the stars. With a hand on her stomach, she would sing softly to the baby. Whenever she felt the baby kick against her hand, she couldn't help but smile. He or she was an eager one; ready to see the world. Suddenly, another terrible thought occurred to her. What if this baby inherited her powers? They could possibly have another Eternal Winter on their hands. Elsa didn't want the baby to have powers. She wanted him or her to be…normal. It was still a roll of the dice, though. Time would tell what the future held for this baby. Sensing that it was getting late, Elsa went back inside. She figured that she would take a nice hot bath before she went to bed.

She turned the facet on, letting the warm water fill the tub, while she undressed. Standing in front of a mirror, she admired how she looked. There she was: naked and eight months pregnant. Her stomach was larger than a watermelon, her breasts felt heavier than a boulder, and to be honest, she wasn't exactly thrilled at how her butt had gotten a bit bigger. Still, looking into the mirror, Elsa couldn't help but notice that motherly glow that Anna often pointed out. It was angelic, real, and pretty. Even without makeup on, it still shined bright for all to see. Elsa wondered if this is how her mother looked when she was pregnant with her and Anna. She could imagine her father telling her how beautiful she looked, even if she didn't feel like it. But Elsa didn't have a man to tell her she was beautiful. The man who conceived this child with her was a vile, despicable man who only wanted her body for sex, not to love and cherish like a man should. At this, Elsa began to cry. This baby wasn't conceived by two people who loved each other, it was conceived by sick pleasure. No matter how hard she tried, that something that could never be erased. One day this child would want to know who his or her father is. Elsa didn't know if she had the heart to tell them. The memory of Stefan was still fresh in her mind, despite her many attempts to leave him in the past. Should she have executed him? It was a question she often asked herself. If she did that, then she would be just as awful as he was, but then again, killing him would save the time and money spent in keeping him alive. Elsa didn't know if Stefan was aware that he had impregnated her, but she hoped that he didn't. He didn't deserve to know that out of his horrific act, a blessing was born.

Stepping into the bathtub, Elsa let out a long sigh. The baby started kicking more frequently this time, causing Elsa to laugh.

"It won't be too long now, little one. Mommy can't wait to meet you."
