Chapter 11

The Birth

By the time she was nine months pregnant, Elsa was more than ready for the baby to arrive. She knew that any day now, she would go into labor. It was only a matter of time. Anna had done her best fulfilling Elsa's duties since Elsa announced her pregnancy. It was a neat experience getting to be the interim queen, she would probably continue it for a while after Elsa gave birth, so Elsa could spend time with her baby. Little did Anna know, that Elsa felt a bad for Anna being swamped with work, so she tried to lend a hand whenever she could. At the moment, she was in the library, helping Anna find a book on architecture. They would need it for the new visitor center that they were building in the town square. As much as she wanted to help, however, Elsa found that she couldn't be on her feet for too long. She weighed a lot know, so much so that she could only stand up for ten minutes at a time. Anna glanced over at Elsa, who had a hand on her stomach, and another on her back. She saw her grind her teeth, clearly in a lot of pain.

"Elsa, you should sit down. I can find it."

"I'll be alright. Besides, I need something to do. It's pretty boring just sitting around all day."

"I understand, but you're nine months pregnant. You really need to take it easy, now more than ever," Anna reminded her.

Elsa laughed. "I've been taking it easy for months now, so I'm not too fond of that, to say the least."

As they continued to look for the book, Elsa suddenly felt a sharp pain run through her stomach. She clutched a hold of it with both hands, only for the pain to come back again even harder. This time Elsa couldn't help, but let out a loud groan.

Knowing instantly what was happening, Anna sprung into action.

"Elsa, it's time to go to the clinic."

"I can't believe it's happening," Elsa said in between breaths.

"Believe it," Anna said.

Anna led Elsa as quickly and carefully as she could to the clinic, alerting any servant she saw along the way. When they arrived at the clinic, the head nurse ushered Elsa into a bed, telling several other nurses to fetch some supplies and the doctor. They helped Elsa take off her clothes, putting her into a white gown.

The doctor showed up, ready to assist in the birth.

"Ok, Your Majesty, these hours are going to be long and hard, but you can do it," he said.

"Hours?" Elsa shouted.

"Yes, Queen Elsa, now how far along are the contractions?" he asked.

Another sharp pain jolted through Elsa.

"I think about fifteen minutes apart," Elsa guessed.

"That's normal. Now I need you to take a deep breath, and breathe in and out," the doctor advised.

Elsa did as the doctor asked, her face drenched in sweat. She couldn't believe it was going to take hours, but that was the least of her worries. Childbirth was sometimes fatal for women. The idea that she could possibly lose her life was terrifying. But she couldn't think about it. She had to focus; she had to deliver this baby.

It had been eight hours since Elsa went into labor, and Elsa was in intense pain. How much longer would this take?

"I think she's just about ready," the head nurse said.

The doctor looked down at Elsa, nodding his head. "I believe so."

He looked and saw the tip of a head emerging from Elsa. "Yes, it's the head."

"Ok, Elsa, push as hard as you can," the doctor said.

Elsa gritted her teeth, but eventually screamed loud, sending icicles growing up the walls. This was unbearable.

"Push, Queen Elsa!"

"I'm pushing!" Elsa cried.

Giving all the strength she could muster, Elsa pushed with all her might, until she didn't have any energy left. Fortunately, it was all that was needed. Suddenly, Elsa heard the cry of her newborn baby.

Turning her head to the left, she saw the nurse hand her a baby wrapped in a blanket.

"Congratulations, Queen Elsa, you have a beautiful baby boy," the nurse said.

Elsa was sighing heavily, the sweat dripping from her face. With what little strength she had left, she took the baby in her arms, laying him gently on her chest. Upon sight of her son, Elsa instantly fell in love. He was so beautiful…Elsa had never seen anything so beautiful in all her life. He had light blonde hair, and blue eyes. The baby was a spitting image of her!

The door to the clinic opened, and Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven walked in. They all smiled at Elsa.

"Congratulations, Elsa," Kristoff said.

"You're a mommy now," Olaf cried.

"Congratulations, Elsa. We're so proud of you," Anna said.

Elsa smiled, looking down at her son. Out of all that pain, came this wonderful bundle of joy. She gave the baby a kiss on his forehead.

"Hi, sweetie," Elsa said. "I love you."

"What are you going to name him?" Olaf asked.

Elsa thought about it for a moment. "I've always liked the name, Isaac."

"That's a handsome name," Anna said.

"It suits him," Kristoff agreed.

"Very well. Welcome to the family, Isaac," Elsa said.

Meanwhile, deep within the dungeons of Arendelle, Stefan had heard word that Queen Elsa had given birth. When he learned that he was the father to a baby boy, he couldn't help, but feel proud. He had never wanted to be a parent, especially since his time with Elsa was his personal one-night stand (One that cost him his freedom) but he couldn't help but desire to see his son. When one of the guards came into his cell to deliver him his dinner, Stefan asked about the child.

"It's none of your business about Queen Elsa's child, you scum," the guard said.

"Well, he is my child, so I think I deserve to see him," Stefan said.

The guard punched Stefan in the face, sending him to the cold hard floor.

"You don't deserve to see another sunrise, after what you did. Queen Elsa may have spared your life, but that doesn't mean that accidents can't happen. Watch yourself, scum."

The guard slammed the door to Stefan's cell shut, leaving him alone. Stefan picked up the bowl of food, putting several bits of it into his mouth. His mind continued to think about the baby. He had a right to this child, just as much as Queen Elsa. Though he didn't know how, he'd figure out a way to see his son. It was his right. And rights shouldn't be denied.

A/N: And baby Isaac is here! Now you'll get to see how Elsa is as a mother. But trouble is brewing in the dungeons. Do you believe that Stefan has a right to see Isaac, or should he never have the opportunity?
