Prompt from AnthroLover: Baloo passes away after a life full of fun and adventure in the jungle, only to wake up in a second life somewhere completely different: A city of animals that goes by the name of Zootopia. As he explores the surroundings finds himself in, he ends up meeting Nick and Judy along the way.

….

Baloo lay in bed, surrounded by his loved ones. The atmosphere was heavy, as everyone knew what was coming.

Any minute now, Baloo would be gone. He'd lived a good life, full of fun and adventure, and had no regrets.

Mowgli, an older man with kids of his own took a hold of the bears' paw, squeezing it in comfort as Baloo smiled, slowly drifting off to sleep.

Baloo woke up alone.

He seemed to be in a house that Man used but… different. Better almost. Slowly, he got out of bed, noticing that there were those weird… Man fur things on his bed.

It took some doing, but eventually he managed to put them on, feeling a little constricted in certain areas.

"Alright Baloo." He murmured to himself, "Time to see where you are."

Making his way out of the room, he headed outside, only to stand there in shock.

Animals… animals everywhere. Some that he'd never seen before.

He continued to walk, eyes widening at the sight of all these animals walking around like… Man, acting like Man, talking like Man.

What was going on?

"Hey, are you alright?"

Baloo jumped, spinning around to see a long-eared, small creature and an orange, red dog-like, creature staring at him in concern.

"He doesn't look like he's okay?" The orange one muttered, wincing as the long-haired one nudged him harshly in the side.

"I think he might be new." The other whispered, before she smiled warmly at Baloo, "Have you only just arrived?"

"I-I-I- " Baloo nodded, eyes still darting around in amazement.

"Well then, let us be the first to welcome you to Zootopia!" The girl beamed, "My name is Judy and this is Nick."

"Zootopia?"

"Yeah, where did you live before?"

"The… jungle."

Judy nodded in understanding, "I can give someone a call, get you situated in that district if you need?"

"I- " Baloo was starting to feel a little overwhelmed, "- Sure."

With an understanding smile, Judy patted him on the paw, gesturing for him to follow her.

"You'll settle in fine." She reassured him, "Do you know anyone who passed before you. Someone we can get you in touch with?"

Baloo frowned. All his friends were there when he passed… the only one he knew who had died was-

"Shere Khan? T-tiger?"

Both Judy and Nick's eyes widened at the name.

"As in… the business mogul?" Nick gasped, "One of the richest men in Zootopia."

Baloo resisted the urge to roll his eyes.

Of course Shere Khan was some sort of… whatever they called it.

"At least there's someone hear that you know." Judy didn't seem to notice the look on his face, "Come on, we can give him a call if you want?"

"I… don't think that would be a good idea." Baloo winced, "We didn't exactly get along towards the end."

"Bad fight?"

"Yeah… you could call it that."
