The ocean looked empty, after one last battle against his father where after so much he managed to undo the curse that the Evangelion Units washed on the world; Shinji Ikari, as God, used his hand to finally give each and every person in the world the end they deserved; Kaworu going alongside Misato and Kaji in the green fields to enjoy a peaceful life in nature, Rei was allowed to live a free life in the ´Neon Genesis´, Asuka…
After going honest with her about his feelings, she chose her new life on the village alongside Kensuke; the fourteen years of distance have seemed to have made him grow apart from his own world after the impact he created, or rather, that he was pushed to do by Kaworu´s own hands, and later being the one to blame about it. Now, everyone´s stories have been closed, Shinji Ikari himself, could finally sigh and glance with a peaceful visage at the shores of the ocean with a smile.
Choosing not to sit anymore, he contemplated the world standing up with a hopeful visage, yet, just as he did so, he heard it.
"Only venom can be taken with venom."
Shinju turned around and widened his eyes and screamed.
"It´s you!"
The might of the Longinus Lance was pierced on his chest as he widened his eyes and coughed blood, on the other side, with rusted mechanical joints, a snarl on his lips and an overall hateful expression a man with cyclops sunglasses smirked.
Lorenz Keel waited, he waited so damn long for things to happen according his plan; for the first time Gendo´s betrayal destroyed everything when his boy decided to undo the Instrumentalization, in this world, Gendo´s own continuous betrayals and own deviations have made the Comitee aware of how things would end, Lorenz Keel though waited patiently, knowing that Gendo´s ultimate desire would be his demise, and the long game turned out to be productive.
With a short cry, Shinji fell on his knees and hung his head, SEELE has won; in the shadows as Nerv and Will-E had their petty squabble they´ve planned everything, yes, their plans were overthrown by Gendo Ikari, nothing that living a few more years wouldn´t repair.
"The Eva were something that should´ve been deactivated long ago, the Pilots and their curses were a defiance to the will of the Committee; your kind deviated from the plan we´ve crafted, all for the silly dream of reviving a dead corpse. You might´ve won the battle Pilot Ikari, but you lost the war."
At this Shinji could only grunt and glare at the man whom was behind everything, the Number 1 in the Monolith, the one with the master plan, the one whom wanted it all.
"Y-you came late, the E-eva are already gone, y-your prophecy was averted and your scenario destroyed."
Lorenz Keel knew that, he was done for, the boy had a head-start; there were no dead-sea scrolls, no reference material anymore to draw from, it would take years, eons; to work things once more, but he was a patient man and he easily could re-do it all again, it would take years upon years, but it will be worth it in the long run.
Shinji knelt down, exasperated and distressed; he never expected someone as Lorenz Keel being able to access this plane, how could he have forgotten about Seele, Lorenz was alive and waited for this moment and now he capitalized on it.
´I can, if I imagine it perhaps…I can…´
Shinji thought as from behind Lorenz the might of the Gaius spear was thus produced and he moved his index finger of the right hand in a come forth gesture, the lance ready to pierce Lorenz, the man was cleverer and the Lance of Cassius joined the fray and pierced Shinji in the abdomen, causing him to cry out loud as Lorenz easily caught the new spear and stared at it.
"It is a disappointment, amongst the best; carrying my blood on your very veins and yet you defy my will. What an inconsiderate Grandson you´re Shinji, just as wasted talent as your mother was."
The young boy widened his eyes at hearing the truth from the man´s lips as he rose the spear, Shinji chose to smile in the face of death with maturity and also a sense of helplessness.
"They will come, they will help me and if I thus perish, they will know of you."
Lorenz Keel snorted. "As foolish and idealistic as your mother, you both believed too much in people. You were betrayed and they turned their gazes away, even your beloved Rei and Mari turned their backs on you, as Asuka did; there was no space for you in their worlds, though it´s sad you won´t be able to see it, the moment when the souls unite." Lorenz replied as Shinji felt his body weaken, the sheer power of conjuring so many different worlds for everyone to find their own happiness, in the end, it seems that even he won´t be ever allowed a reprieve, as his vision blurred as Gunshots echoed but it was too late, Lorenz managed to create enough of a deep cut on the side of his neck, aside from both spears disappearing, the skies, were the same color, as multiple cries around him were heard, he glanced at the deceased Lorenz Keel and he closed his eyes, crying as he had a hopeful last smile.
´It seems this is my end…I´m sorry.´
He cried his last moments as he slowly lost his senses and his pulse went slowly frail and slower, bleeding on the floor.
´Next life will turn better…I promise. Please; Mari, Rei, Asuka, Kaworu, Misato-san…be all happy for me.´
System processing.
Reincarnation Succeeded.
´What?´
He thought as it all went dark once more and cleared, he cried out due to the intensity of the lights as he heard voices.
It´s a boy, it´s a boy.
He resisted the urge to cry, no; he gave his life off to never be rebirthed or repeat the cycle ever again, did all his efforts fail. That was tough before a young woman with green hair held him, she kissed his forehead and spoke.
"What will be his name?" A man asked to which the woman smiled and spoke endearingly. "Diodora, my dear sweet Diodora Astaroth, my sweet little devil."
Chapter 1
(No) More Rebirths
The Astaroth Family of devils is one of the 72 or perhaps realistically 32 pillars that are left of the former 72, a Civil war took them all away alongside a Great War fought between factions, he family, had birthed its first child after the tragical miscarriage that Lady Astaroth had, it took both Lord and Lady Astaroth years to cope with the fact that their first child died and the Astaroth Family for at least generations worth had been unstable in its lineage, after all what´s better to prove the strength of a lineage than takin an heir, their chance for power was swept off by a prodigal young boy born under the Agares Family, Ajuka Agares whom alongside his friends Sirzechs Gremory, Serafall Sitri and Falbium Glasya-Labolas were the four saviors of the Underworld during the times of the civil war.
When the news arrived to the ears of Lord and Lady Astaroth that she was expecting, both were even more careful than before, they went very regularly to the check-ups and even insisted on doing even more for the sake of this time being the chosen, both were hopeful that their child would be bared; Lord and Lady Astaroth went beyond overjoyed when the delivery went without any complications and a healthy male devil heir was birthed, Diodora Astaroth was thus birthed as the legitimate first-born heir of the Astaroth Pillar.
What they both didn´t know though was that while the body looked that akin to a baby´s the soul, was the soul of a damaged 15-year-old teenaged boy whom didn´t even had the chance to reach adulthood before he died, in his tragical end he desired more than any to give his world peace with his death and wanted nothing else with the affair of the living, being tired, overly tired of fighting, was thus delivered once again into the world.
Shinji Ikari found himself crying every long while of fear because he didn´t know where he was, whenever he was alone, in the arms of a woman he didn´t knew at all yet felt like a mother; to be honest, there were many things that now Diodora Astaroth could recall, of both his old life and the new one and certainly in the new life, in the very start wasn´t at all pleasant getting acquainted with the fact he´s been given another life.
"Alright Diodora, tell me what´s the basis of our government?" A stoic purple-haired woman in a teacher´s outfit asked to a young four-year-old child dressed in a white blouse and black pants with equal black shoes, whom sat down in a chair and before him a table, the cyan haired boy whom was asked nodded and spoke. "The authority and presence of the Four Satans, each of them hold an important role of our Faction´s governance; from Inner Affairs and Foreign, to Military and Research and Development of Technology." At this the woman nodded sharply and remarked it.
"And it´s important to remember young Diodora, as the Justice System relies on our Lord Lucifer as all inside affairs are." Diodora nodded attentively towards the teacher whom nodded gently. "This will be all for today then young Diodora, you can go on with your day." The Cyan Haired boy got up from the chair and bowed politely towards the teacher. "Thank you, I´ll be on my way."
Diodora Astaroth walked out of the classroom and walked the halls of the Astaroth Castle, this world, this life, for him was the best, never in his life had he felt so free and so cherished, so at peace and yet so normal. At nights he would find himself just again repeating himself the reasons to love this world and this life, he felt beyond blessed having been given a chance to live a new life. His very body faced though the windowsill door on the library which had his reflection, his very eyes glanced into that reflection.
~A world without Eva.~ He thought still not believing it, touching his cheek gently to realize he had the sensations, Shinji Ikari still couldn´t believe it even after five years having passed by of only pure-love and graceful memories on his life, the love of both of his parents has nurtured him into being healthy and raising with a happy outlook on life. The first truth that was out like a cat out of the bag was his humanity, or rather, lack thereof.
He´s a devil, of the kind mentioned in the bible and he found himself a few times almost laughing at the irony, a former Angel Slayer found itself communing with their natural enemies, he almost swore that if these kind people were devils then perhaps Nerv were demonical, or something darker of a more ill-intended origin, and if Nerv were such. ~I must detach myself from that old world.~ He thought rather philosophically, learning to let go was the first thing that he´s been repeating as mantra for the last two years, in an attempt to slowly let away the memories of his old life to make forth for the new ones; slowly he found himself forgetting the old world as Shinji Ikari knew it; Yui Ikari and Gendo Ikari were part of a past too painful but that was there.
Scars that will remain on his soul but at least, that they would now be allowed to close after festering for many years, call it decades even.
~Asuka…~ If there was one regret of his old world was Asuka Langley Sohryu, that remembrance ignited an even further deeper wound that bled ever worse, ~Rei…~ He continued… ~Mari…~ One the persons he loved the most as he closed his eyes and clutched his chest. ~I paid our prices before all presences, our lives were cleansed and spared to be given a new chance; live a peaceful life with Kensuke Asuka…please, be happy, if not for me…then for you. I´ll live.~ The topic of love to Shinji Ikari (and Diodora Astaroth by default) was a complicated issue, how is it possible to remain looked to the same red-haired Tsundere'ish crush for all your life, well?
Simple, sometimes love isn´t something chosen; it´s beyond the powers of mere will and desires, he knows that Asuka has marked him and left a very deep scar that won´t ever heal, a gaping hole between them. He´ll never be allowed to love again due to that very reason, and yes, his parents might one day hope to continue the lineage if the Adage of his birth bears truth; he knows eventually both will birth a minor sibling and after he continues the line, he´ll just drunk in this eternity´s happiness forever.
After all, Love means being vulnerable, to be hurt and to hurt.
He embraced himself as he made a queasy uneasy face.
~I´m not going to hurt nor allow myself to hurt.~ And that meant that also loving outside of family was strictly prohibited, a self-restraint he imposed on himself in his countless philosophical wanderings. ~I must go on with my duties.~ Choosing responsibility over anything else, the young Astaroth went through the library of his household´s castle and chose a book on basic principles of magic and continued to read it from where he left it.
"Dio-chan." He was called and thus he turned to meet his kind mother, a Cyan-haired woman like himself whom wore her hair long and always silky, gracious and beautiful, Lady Astaroth was natural beauty and peace made into a mold, the patient wise and kind woman which he has naturally in his soul, heart and mind seen as mother spoke. "We´re visiting the Phenex dear, be ready." His mother instructed, which meant he had to take a bath and wear good clothes, as his parents would when having social meetings. "Can I take my books to read there mamma?" Diodora asked to his dear mother whom nodded and knelt down by his side watching his read, ruffling.
"Reading about magic again Dio-chan?" She asked to which he nodded once cheerfully, his mother didn´t saw it as a bother to take a book and read there. "Though remember dear, our meetings are also for you to establish friendships and close connections with others." At this he felt though dubious, he remembered Touji and Kensuke and both were friends and he established a close connection but keeping himself afar, he trusted too much.
TOUJI!
Put on the dummy system, it´s better than our current pilot.
"Oh my." Lady Astaroth declared as her child embraced her feet rather tightly and he hung his head. "Mamma…I fear." He clung to his mother tightly, even still at certain times, his mind and soul wouldn´t let go and remind him of the past, of his mistakes, he often found himself waking up every night with nightmares and his mother coming to his room to calm him with songs and stories to make him sleep once more.
Diona Astaroth embraced her dear baby, her only child bared out of the effort constant of her husband and herself, the pride and joy of the Astaroth Family, the boy since childhood was very quirky and unique, to many though was normal but both knew otherwise, from early moments he always expressed an interest in books to read and to technology, and a hatred for being left lonely and whenever any stranger held him, then as she grew older she found herself admiring and at times paying attention to the unique traits of her boy.
He´s ordained, heavily so; his room was always tidy and in order, in a certain way and whenever the servants came and did a mess he would cry and make big tantrums all while the servitude in a rushed pace attempted to put and accommodate things as they were, until finally such were that he was left calm.
He also never ever returned glances, and whenever he was asked to glance at someone in the eyes he found himself looking at other spots; Cheeks, forehead, neck or just away and whenever he was touched and his face directed he would close his eyes and cry.
So bright for his age, most basic topics were already covered except magic which children usually learn at six when their bodies are slightly more mature. Shinji himself started asking about the Faction´s governance and soon the topics of the classes were taken towards advanced stuff so as the Governance of their Faction, the competence of each of the Satans, things that even Clan Heirs twice his age didn´t or perhaps barely understood or just didn´t cared.
Because, if one was honest, most didn´t really were exactly interested in knowing that Lord Lucifer was in charge of the Justice System or that Lord Ajuka Agares is in charge also of City Development or that Economy is still up to today not in the exact hands of an effective person and instead is a function delegated between three of the four satans which have a mess in it. Nor many care about the % of Tax each family gives and under which parameters each family gives to the governance and how much is refunded to them gracefully as recompensating for honesty.
Nobody does, until they are handed the place of Lord of the Family and also most things are done by the Four Authorities Swiftly.
Her child´s tendencies to be very reserved, shy and only socializing with them have caused finally her husband to voice his concerns, they have a genius son, way to go, but whom would be his friends? In a world like the Supernatural, friendships are the most important as so are alliances and yet, their son finds himself lonely at age four. Soon though he´ll go to preschool and he needs to at least adapt well, thus choosing a leap of faith, her husband has a meeting with Lord Phenex for business, choosing to summon her son and herself perhaps for goodwill and also to motivate their son to be a more active social person.
-Do you believe he might get pressured?—She stated to her husband worried as he massaged his shoulder gently and shook his head. –I don´t think so, it´ll be good for him to get out of the house from time to time, for you too.– At this though she smiled gently and nodded. –Alright.– Agreeing with her husband on that, staying too much scooped up at home might be a bad thing, she chose a casual dress of khaki-colored pants and a white blouse with green/gold engraving, all while her husband went for the typical black suit. She emerged to see her son arranging himself, black shorts and black shoes, as any apt young noble yet of age and blouse with an old-style tie, atop a black colored long-sleeved coat, Diodora dressed blue due to one simple fact, for closure and to slowly close his wounds he saw it fit to find attires that would remind him of his old life, the few moments he had of that young lived life.
For that reason, his shirt and the tie matched the colors of his plug suit and Eva Unit 01, for the sake of closure and to be able to transcend to this life at a better pace. Soon he´ll be able to live this life peacefully without the need to cling that much to the past, Shinji now as Diodora Astaroth had a pang of regret but otherwise he was mostly left satisfied, he gave them all a new chance and Lorenz Keel…the unknown man behind pulling everybody´s strings and evading death, was finally claimed by the reaper right before his eyes, thus, it managed to create peace. No longer will humanity have to fear of Evangelion or an organization like Seele at all, when everyone behind those heinous ideas and acts are dead.
Right now, though, his worries were different today he had to socialize for the first time since his old life, though he didn´t felt as insecure as he did in his old life; the affection of the parents he now had had changed his vision entirely and has helped him greatly, feeling loved and accepted; for the first time, he was truly happy. ~And it took my death for me to be given this new chance.~ He wondered as by the side of his parents he reappeared somewhere that wasn´t his home, in there a Blond-haired woman and a blond-haired man spoke politely and bowed, to their side an older boy dressed in mostly white and an orange tie, he has blond hair and cerulean blue eyes and an overall uninterested glance.
"Greetings." He bowed lightly to both of the acquaintances of his parents whom were surprised with the politeness of the boy, Lord Phenex nudged his son to do the same gesture, afterwards though Lady Phenex spoke to Riser. "Riser dear, Lady and Lord Astaroth have been friends to our family; you don´t have friends at all, why not try and befriend him?"
Shinji shivered in perhaps fear as the adults went somewhere and the maids escorted them both through the halls of the Phenex Household. ~It was easier in the old world when I met Touji and Kensuke, then again; things were different back then.~ He thought that maybe it would be proper to introduce himself personally to him, both walked through the carpeted floors of the Phenex Manor, all while Riser was a few steps on the lead, all while glancing uninterestedly around.
"M-my name is Diodora Astaroth, pleased to meet you." Riser stopped and turned around, snorting as he glanced at the cyan-haired boy younger than him, Riser was also perhaps slightly angered and frustrated with himself, at first; he had difficulty for making friends perhaps because simply he was too braggy or forward, then eventually ceased to care and just went on his own. "Riser, Riser Phenex. And don´t be like that." He stated sharply to the young male whom nodded and sharply stood, he nodded and once emerging on the room, Shinji would´ve been surprised by the luxury, though in his household there was the same amount of flair and fondness for eccentricities, showing modest interest as he turned the TV once more, Riser took a remote controller for a videogame console and turned around. "Wanna play?" He asked rather uninterestingly to which he nodded eagerly, his parents didn´t saw him at fitting age yet to own a videogame console, but he truly was interested in owning various, never being able to play videogames in his old life, he would be in this life to embrace what he loves the most.
The game being a generic racing game, both played as they talked.
"So, any girl meet your eye?" At this Shinji blinked and turned to Riser, as he chuckled and shook his head; Riser was already Eight while Diodora (Shinji) is just five, might not even know what he speaks about when he talks about girls. The truth is that Riser wouldn´t be interested if his parents haven´t met with the Gremory, Rias Gremory a sweet red-haired girl two years younger than him, he took out a picture of a woman, not any woman but of a brown-haired woman. "I´ll tell you, but you can´t tell no one or I'll kick your butt K?" Riser rose his glare to the boy whom nodded sharply, Shinji though fearing being beaten by the boy, he fearfully nodded and recoiled lightly, Riser´s gaze softened and showed him the picture of the woman. "She´s Venelana Gremory." Being shown the picture and even handed it, he blinked and glanced at the picture of a brown-haired buxom woman.
Diodora´s eyes widened. ~She´s even more beautiful than Misato!~ Gaping like a fish, he couldn´t believe this was real yet. "The lady in charge of the Gremory Family and…" As the race ended and he won he rose pridefully and spoke bragging about it. "I am going to marry her daughter Rias Gremory." He stated out pridefully all while he blinked, marry? Wasn´t he too young? "If I remember, the Gremory are a Duke-ranked family. Right?" Diodora´s cogs in his mind started working and the Phenex Family were a Marquis ranked family, being accepted into a Duke-ranked family already meant a rise in the rank and perhaps even the mixture of the bloodlines of the Phenex and the Gremory which of the latter is the power of destruction.
Riser blinked and he nodded slowly.
"Yeah." At this he nodded slowly and Diodora continued. "It would be a good thing you´re close to Lord Lucifer." At this Riser snorted and nodded. "Of course, it is widely known he loves his sister dearly, marrying her would leave me in good light on the Four Great Satans." The status shift would be a greatly favored thing, Diodora in his own experience knew that of marriages seeking self-gain would only cause further destruction out of their union, although perhaps he judged his parent´s marriage too wrongly based on the selfless desire of one wanting to meet the other. "Not only that but it would come with political advantage whenever trouble arrives." Diodora commented the truth, if his objective was to make his parents live an easier life freer of conflict any controversy might cause them, it would mean, marrying the sibling of an authority would be the most advantageous than anything else, having a close relationship with Riser Phenex would now be something he would actively seek out.
Diodora (Shinji) though blinked as he isolated the world around him and realized something, why would he befriend Riser. ~I don´t want to loose again.~ His childhood self-crying in the same train station reminded him of his past, his depressed past teenaged self-reminded him further. ~I wasn´t able to protect anything loved until the end. I won´t repeat ever again what I can do once.~
He held himself firm as he turned to Riser whom blinked and smiled.
"You are smart, aren´t you?" Riser stated with a smirk on his visage as Diodora blinked and he spoke honestly. "I´ve only read a few things to be true, I´m not that all-knowing." The male snorted and waved his arm. "Don´t humble yourself." Riser went on and he monologued further. "Even I know that I need allies; I´ve seen my parents and even Ani-sama struggle to build or even maintain their relationships with other families." The male Phenex third son expressed his frustration and continued to drag on.
"A toast for your alliance and climb to the heights my friend." Lord Astaroth rose a glass of Champagne, after many doubtful sessions and various meetings and pressure; Lord Gremory finally conceded into the Arranged Marriage between Riser Phenex and his daughter Rias Gremory, Lord Astaroth truly wished his Phenex Friend success in his endeavor. Lord Astaroth though a man of more cunning ambition and also perhaps reserved, played his cards quite in a high-amount of secrecy, targeting above the ladder on a risky game, The Agares family was his shot and for that though he prepared to do so sooner or rather later.
The news of the Heir of the Bael being bared with no Power of Destruction caused a shift in the pollical climate and the frustrations of Lord Bael clouded the judgment.
"Did you hear?" Lord Phenex stated firmly to his friend, Lord Astaroth blinked as Lady Phenex continued. "The Bael Family´s heir showed no aptitude for the Power of Destruction." The low blow to the Bael was something that the Underworld would take hard. "Once again your recommendation of vying for the favor of the Gremory rather of the Bael was spot-on Charles." Lord Phenex certainly now acknowledged he owed his friend more than he could ever pay. "And no quantity of riches could ever e considered enough to pay for getting me on the right path to take the most appropriate choice, the Phenex Family owes you." At this Charles Astaroth Lord of the Astaroth Family shook his head gently and placed the glass gently on the table forth, sitting across the man in a sofa, his wife talking to lady Phenex on family stuff.
"You owe me nothing Reginald, we´ve been friends for quite some time; My priorities lie now elsewhere…" Charles glanced to his wife by a short while as he had a gentle smile, if one could describe the Lord of the Astaroth would be a sentimental emotional man whom only in closed quarters and with those he trusted he could reveal his feelings and sentiments, his goals and aspirations, and in those, he favored simplicity over complexity. He only wished the best for his son now that he has been finally able to conceive, his legacy was now truly achieved and he could plan to further it, it was a slow plan that would take time, but he would have slowly built up the cards for it.
Lord Phenex though glanced at his friend. Reginald knew Charles after years of friendship, having been Generals during the Civil War and aiding the effort of independence, coming victorious was something they celebrated and mutually enjoyed at, Charles cared about one thing mainly, his family and the future, the happiness of his son. That happiness would be something very simple, being able to preserve the legacy, a wife.
"Time goes fast doesn´t it?" He asked to which Charles nodded and turned. "Very true, it feels like yesterday when Sirzechs declared that finally the nightmare ended." He commented gently…times have changed and the war has stopped, hopefully to never have motives to ever be armed ever again.
Mari Iscariote glanced at the emptiness of the darkness, it all happened so fast; she promised…and she, she failed. She would be there when the nightmare ends and he gave a new start. Who would care? Rei, hardly. The Princess, good luck with that Kensuke already had her draped around him; Gendo and Yui ·snort· both would be banging wherever they are than care of the fact they left their son alone after giving everyone their wish like Christmas as they leave him hanging.
Yet, she was late, by the time she arrived, a ghost of the past in the form of Lorenz Keel the chairman of Seele and a bleeding out Shinji Ikari facing the man head on, by the time she came it was already late and the pup was dead. When it happened; Asuka, Rei and Kaworu came alarmed to the scene, Asuka in frustration and anger shot the man. Late Guilt anyway by the time Rei cried not believing it, also Kaworu´s tears were for nothing, all while Asuka nudged the body, attempted to wake the ´Stupid Shinji´ from the slumber, but even she knew it was too late. Tears cascaded in her eyes even further when simply his body vanished and dissolved into light particles, all while Asuka tried to grasp anything, hold onto anything, but she couldn´t.
Who was this Asuka anyway? Wasn´t she supposed to be left with Kensuke long ago? All they could do as Eva Pilots was to see as the shattering glass effect happened and like glass shards it all started to fall.
A tragic end to a tragic life.
They all turned to meet a figure in black hooded robes, yet the end of the robes waved akin to flames, nothing of the figure could be seen as the shards fell all what was left was unsurprisingly the darkness of the universe and the stars of the firmament of the Space.
"Who are you?" Asuka snapped at the figure as they heard various screams as the glass fell further underneath the darkness of the universe, all what they fought for, was for…nothing? I´m the Ancestral, the unified entity of the race of Ancestrals which created Lilith and Adam, the Gods that so casually were attempted to be reached to. Kaworu was the first to speak rather surprised. "If you originated the Lilim and Adam…my siblings, why? Don´t we feel you?"
You cannot comprehend the existence of my form, even ascended beings such as you both, cannot fathom even my form at all. As, for what you witness, is the end of the multiverse.
"M-multiverse?" Asuka Langley Sohryu asked not comprehending the nature of what was talked about yet, mildly surprised and glancing around in the darkness, and yet also concerned for her own safety, trying to remain mildly calm about it, failing to do so in the process. "It speaks of the multitude of plains we´ve lived; Kaworu himself has told it to Shinji many times; he has revived a total of four times already to attempt to change the scenario of the end of the world. You find yourself filled with the memories of various different lives you lived; Asuka Langley Sohryu and Asuka Shikinami, both cannot be different both names mean the same, yet they lived differently; each incarnation living a different scenario, yet they all are the same." The blue-haired female commented void of emotions and with facts forth as the female german gently touched her neck, remembering that cathartic moment, Asuka Langley Sohryu felt still estranged with the memories of Shikinami into her, while accepting her as a piece of her, her main memories were used to acknowledge Shinji and not Kensuke at all, unlike her Clone she was the original, the real one, she didn´t had to spend fourteen years being comforted by one of the three stooges to become someone else.
"W-where is the pup?"
She asked turning around and the figure spoke. Dead, he has been given the rest and reprieve he so desired.
"That was not your call to make." Asuka snapped at the figure, as many turned at her surprised, the figure remained silent as the german female snapped at him. Didn´t you finally chose to let go? You yourself said it many times, you´re the last person to even know of him at all.
"Grr…whomever you are I won´t let you-." At this the figure though gave a side glance to the female German. Though truly, what is more pitiful? That in the end Ryoji Kaji rejected you, that your own pride never allowed you to love the only one in the entire universe to comprehend you or that in the end your clone chose to settle for Third Best in a pitiful attempt to have a future.
The insult hit home to Asuka, as she ran and tried to hit the figure, but all she found was a multi-colored nigh-transparent wall, an AT-Field, a very strong one.
"YOU!" Asuka tried to hit the AT-Field but it was for naught, As Mari grappled her and took distance from the figure that stayed there as Asuka Langley cried out. "She´s not me! I´m not her! I would never ever settle for a pitiful life as that! I would never EVER be that doll!" Asuka Langley Sohryu snapped out and knelt down, taking a breath as she screamed her anger at the universe, she was not Shikinami, Shikinami is a doll, Shikinami is all what she hates, Shikinami is dependent, Shikinami is prideful.
Had she never learned of the Third Impact and being inside the Instrumentality? Had she not been attacked by Arael? Had she not connected to her mother at all?
Ha, of course not; Shikinami lived a peaceful life, didn´t hated dolls because she never had the trauma of it, she was independent, a soldier; she was…A DOLL. A DOLL, a useless doll, she lived as a doll, she acted as a doll, she tried to charm Kensuke as a…
"·Urk·" Asuka Langley Sohryu could barely handle her own disgust as she almost vomited at the facts, all while the figure continued. You have lived your lives as Eva Pilots, he world has ended; your lives are about to end also to die like this Multiverse will do. Your lives will finally be in the peace of the slumber.
"You never told us where the pup is?" Mari asked to the figure whom glanced into the darkness of the universe. Would it make a difference? Shinji Ikari died while giving his last breath selflessly for all of you, he will live in your minds as a reminder of that selfless sacrifice. Hasn´t he done enough for you?
"We cherish him, please…let us see him one last time." Rei asked kindly to the figure as the man simply remained there. It is not possible, Shinji´s soul transcended my reach, he´s on another plane. He´s not even part of this Multiverse anymore.
Mari squinted her eyes in thought at that. ~Not part of this multiverse? All souls even those held by instrumentality and as infinite evas were part of this multiverse, our different versions even the one where I died in the test also was a part of this multiverse, does it mean that-?~ "He lives somewhere else…" She realized and turned sharply and they all did. "He lives somewhere else, out of this Multiverse, somewhere different, you sent him away."
Your intelligence precedes you, yes; Shinji Ikari´s soul was taken to be reincarnated into another Multiverse; into another entire life, a new life with new parents, a new chance. A world without Evas.
Mari once hearing it deflated, realizing that her chance to at least meet him one last time would never happen.
"And why does he get the chance!?" Asuka snapped not comfortable at all, it wasn´t fair that the inferior pilot of unit 01 would get the right to have a new life while their multiverse collapses. It was not my choice to make, relish in the fact that your loved ones are waiting for you.
"Ikari…" Rei whispered as the being glanced in silence at everything around him. Though why would you want to follow him Sohryu, I expected you to hate him enough to not be in the same space as him.
"Because I want a new life too." At this the being rose an eyebrow. Even when your dear mother and your beloved Kaji wait for you in the afterlife? The question remained for Asuka as her expression softened and she turned away gently, not knowing what to say or feel about it. Face it, you all have loved ones that wait for you in the afterlife. Asuka´s mother waits for her, Kaworu´s siblings wait for him, Gendo and Yui wait for Mari, Lilith waits for Rei. "Wouldn't his parents wait for him?" Asuka retorted in anger to the figure whom stayed there. No one waited for Shinji, his empty afterlife was enough of a motive to simply discard him elsewhere to give him a new chance.
The reddish-brown haired female gasped and turned away once more, a saddened solemn expression on her face, how much has Shinji suffered or would he have suffered in his afterlife? Not being loved and hated by everyone. She felt nauseated with herself to be one of the ones that hated him too.
You cannot go where he is because you have grown dependent on the Eva, you made piloting the Eva your purpose in life that you simply couldn´t enjoy anything else. Rather, you lashed out at the world and at your surroundings for feeling inferiority, instead of empathizing…you destroyed, you revel in destroying and in the world he went to, there´s no need for destruction.
"Shut up!" Asuka screamed and gripped her head, as the figure floated forth around her. It doesn´t matters the name, Langley Sohryu or Shikanami, it doesn´t matters the name, in the end you´re the same selfish person; at least He was selfless enough in the end, he never wished what he had but at the end acknowledging his mistakes he faced it, he faced the source of his nightmares and came victorious. You…you could never have faced your parents or your mother, you never did anything our of selflessness; if you had the Lance of Gaius in your hands, you would´ve restarted everything but you would´ve preserved the Eva don´t you?
"I WOULD NEVER!" Asuka retorted glaring at the figure as it snorted. You conveniently lie because in the depths you know I'm right, none of you would´ve taken the key and done what he did, be that as it may, you´re all hypocrites. You selflessly wish and fight for your own gains, but in the end if each of you are given the key…obtaining whatever you desire, what would you´ve done?
No answer was given Asuka just remained there glancing sadly at the darkened space.
Nothing else is for me to say, it is time.
"Please…" The almost whisper of Asuka Langley Sohryu echoed through the silent space, Asuka had no one; Shikinami had Kensuke, but it was Shikinami, her clone, not herself. Asuka Langley Sohryu lost everything to the Third Impact, to the Rebuild, to everything that happened; she lost her mother, her father, her stepmother; none of them ever loved her. None of them ever cried for her, none of them ever did she caressed tenderly, none of them…did she ever went out of her way to empathize.
It´s because we´re alike, isn´t it?
She understood the message in the End of Evangelion, after the instrumentality when just her and him were left she understood everything, it all.
"·Sob· I won´t ever…ask anything, I won´t ever…ever, lie. Please…" Asuka pleaded, a pleading prideful female whom wouldn´t ever plea for anything except make others plea for her, was already broken. Death is unavoidable, the only truth in this world.
"As is life." Rei replied back retorting to the figure whom with absolute silence didn´t chose to answer that call-back. "Let us meet the Pup, at least…before we are gone." The shade stayed still. Beyond that tiny slowly closing wound is the Dirac Sea, the bridge to the other multiverses, it shrinks in a fast pace. If you believe you can reach him…then give it a try, though I doubt you´ll ever get there.
Diodora was by his parent´s side smiling passively, realizing that the life he lives now is the best life he could´ve asked for; his parents love him truly. They didn´t put a bomb on his neck to get him to go on, they didn´t isolated him, the food on his belly was quality made of five diamonds, he can communicate with others openly, they don´t need to manipulate what he does, what he´ll do, he doesn´t needs to be taken to a path when he himself can walk his own path. They don´t need to break him anymore, they don´t need to manipulate him or blame him of things, he doesn´t needs to fight back his father or mother to save the world, he is the master of his own destiny. His lips curled up in a smile, a true smile.
He can protect this world.
´Believing in others and attempting to seek approval gave me an inevitable end with my death at my Grandfather´s hands.´ Diodora thought recalling his past as Shinji Ikari, what remained was perhaps the features, mildly and the personality but everything else, is simply gone, his hair is now cyan, his eyebrows are cyan too, he had this regal appearance to himself as any high-classed devil would, he´s different, he now can make a difference here. He can make the difference.
´I shall make it.´
With those last thoughts, the gates of the Astaroth Household were opened, as Lord and Lady Astaroth walked inside, Diodora showed slim hesitance, slight hesitance of wanting to get inside.
"Is everything alright dear?" Diona Astaroth asked to her son with affection only a mother can for their child and his chest felt warmth and this time, a true shy smile was on his face, not a passive smile but a true smile that met his eyes, the windows of his soul. "Yes." His cheerful nod and his feet stepping inside meant a new life, a new path in the life of Diodora Astaroth, once Shinji Ikari.
