The Result
After explaining to his mother, that Izuku now has extra weight in his muscle form, she agreed to buy him another bed. It didn't even cost that much. Most people these days tended to need customized beds due to their quirks, and many companies had set up to provide just that. He had estimated that he would weigh as much as All Might, if not slightly less in his muscle form, so he gave a little higher weight to his mom. She hadn't asked anything else, which he felt glad for. He already had so much on his mind with the whole 'figuring out his new quirk' thing, he didn't want to explain it to his mom and deal with the waterworks that would undoubtedly follow.
It was the next day now. When he woke up, still in his muscle form, he felt no strain on his body. He let out a sigh of relief. Although he didn't say anything out loud, he was thinking about what would happen if he also started coughing blood like All Might. Fortunately, there was nothing to worry about.
He had tried to call All Might earlier but received no response. Thinking that the man must be busy, Izuku decided to go for a run on the beach. He was too exhausted to go to school. Of course, he was good as new physically, but he was mentally exhausted, This also meant that his quirk does not enhance his mind. He didn't feel sleepy the previous night, but he also had no problem sleeping. So, his quirk, even combined with the massive energy reservoir of One For All does not disrupt his body's natural functions. That is another relief. It would be bad if he suddenly did not need to sleep. Then he would be bored out of his mind!
With nothing else to do, he decided to go out for a run… in his muscle form. It wasn't on purpose. He just didn't realize it. So, he threw one of his oversized(in his normal form) All Might hoodie, which looked like the man's costume, and went towards the, now cleaned, beach. He liked going there and seeing what he had done within 10 months. He would come here in the future often to see where he had begun his journey. He ran(without using One for All) towards the beach, all the while thinking about the exam.
He hadn't thought much about it the day before but was now suddenly nervous -What if his points were deducted due to all the people he knocked over with his first step? What about all the property damage he caused due to a lack of control?- were some questions in his mind. After a while, he finally reached the beach. It was still early morning, and there were very few people there. He was staring into the horizon, unaware of the small crowd of people gathering behind him., and taking pictures of him.
A sudden scream of "IT'S ALL MIGHT!" startled him out of his thoughts. When he turned around, he saw many people gathered around him with their phones out, taking pictures. Pictures of him. Izuku blushed and covered his face with his hands. From the corners of his eye, he saw reporters coming towards him.
After they reached him, they started asking him questions like 'Why are you in this city?' or 'What is your quirk?' among others. He repeatedly tried to deny that he was All Might, but the noise from the crowd and the reporters drowned out his protests. Finally, after having enough, he let go of his transformation, startling everyone present.
[A few minutes later]
After explaining the misunderstanding that happened, everyone left disappointed. A few even weakly glared at Izuku, but there was no heat behind it. Izuku just sighed and went back into his muscular form, this time with his hoodie down, so that his clothes don't collect dirt and rips… again!
At least these news reporters were nice enough to apologize, but even they couldn't hide their disappointment. Another sigh escaped him as he realized how good All Might must be to be able to escape them every single day, especially with his time limit. Wait, he thought, if I become the Symbol of Peace… I would also have to do that! At least that is something that All Might could help him with.
With his beach trip successful, Izuku headed back home, deciding to stay home until he is done testing his quirk. Of course, he would have to return to his middle school once the results for all the high school entrance exams had been declared.
After a week, Izuku concluded he had no time limit.
He didn't leave his house for the entire week and stayed in his muscle form the entire time. Feeling no strain at all. He had gone to the beach again, this time at night, to see if he could control One for All's output. All he ended up doing was making some strong winds and blowing a lot of sand and water into the air. Even after a whole week, he was no closer to adjusting the output than before.
Currently, he was in his normal form lying on his bed and staring at the ceiling. Today was the day the results were supposed to be released. He wasn't nervous about failing, as he found out that even if he did, he could join the general education department and then use the sports festival to move to the hero course. Although, there really shouldn't be any reason to not let him in, excepts for maybe the excessive property damage, which could have been prevented if he had control. Although he was pretty sure that Bakugou caused more damage, on purpose , so that shouldn't be a problem.
The only other obstacle would be any other examinees he hurt when he took his first step. At the time it had happened, there was a lot of confusion and rush to get to as many robots as possible, so most people probably didn't acknowledge any injuries. But when Izuku was boarding the bus, he remembered Recovery Girl ushering some students towards the infirmary. He hopes that those students were only hurt due to the robots and not him.
Suddenly, the door to his room burst open and his mom walked in holding an envelope with the symbol of UA on it.
"IZUKU! IT'S HERE! THE LETTER FROM UA" Inko said, falling on her knees mid-way through her words.
Izuku took the envelope from his mother. "Mom… I need to open this alone… please?" he asked his mother in a soft voice. She complied and left his room, closing the door behind her, but not before giving him a thumbs up with both hands.
Izuku opened the envelope and a small disk dropped out. He pressed the only button on the device and there was suddenly a hologram of All Might in a yellow suit(he would have to search for an action figure of that) appeared above his table, startling Izuku.
"I AM HERE AS A PROJECTION!" he said in the hologram, with his huge grin, which seemed even bigger than normal for some reason.
"You might be thinking what I am doing in a letter sent by UA. Well, that's because you are looking at UA's new faculty! Now, Midoriya Izuku, for your results, you passed the written exam with flying colors. Which has impressed the principal quite a bit. As for the practicals… you acquired a total of 178 Villain Points, which is more than enough for you to get placed in the first place. BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE TO IT THAN THAT! Those with heroic behaviors, even during a competitive exam, are awarded points based on the same."
Izuku thought about who he had saved. From what he could remember he pretty much jumped right into the middle of the fake city before anyone else even got to their first robot. The only person who he could think of was the nice girl who almost got crushed by the zero-pointer. He was brought out of his musings when All Might spoke again.
"For saving the girl from the Zero-Pointer and after some discussion in the staff meeting, you have been awarded 60 Rescue Points." Izuku was delighted to hear this, a small smile appeared on his face. But the delight turned to embarrassment and guilt after All Might's next words.
"However… with the mighty step, you took some of the examinees were hurt. So some of those rescue points were deducted and you were awarded 21 points instead. But with a total of 199 points, you are still in the first place by a huge margin. So Young Midoriya, WELCOME TO YOUR HERO ACADEMIA!" yelled All Might as the message ended and the hologram disappeared, leaving the disc as is.
A frown had made its way on Izuku's face. Something doesn't seem right. Why did he get 21 points ? Why not only 20 points? 21 seemed like a weird number until it hit him why that had happened. He remembered one day at the beach that All Might said he had got 200 points in his practical exam. By giving Izuku 199 points, they kept irritatingly close to the highest score ever.
Normally, Izuku wouldn't care about that because he had at least gotten in. But he would be lying if he said he wasn't bitter for that. If he had gotten 190 points, it would be fine. But he was so close to making a new record and just missed it. He just pouted and crossed his arms, an action that might've broken some girls due to its cute nature.
Izuku heard his phone ping. Upon inspection, he saw that it was a message from All Might to meet him at the beach. Izuku quickly got out of his room, gave his mom the good news, and headed for the beach.
"ALL MIGHT!" Izuku yelled upon seeing the man near the railing of the beach.
A couple standing some away heard this and questioned where All Might was.
"ALL MIGHT ?! WHOSE THAT?!" All Might spoke in his civilian form. Not the most convincing excuse, which was clear from the deadpan he received from not only Izuku but also the couple. He blushed realizing that someone not knowing who All Might was must have been living under a mountain range.
The couple just ignored them and looked towards the oceans, hand in hand. They took a sigh of relief.
"Congrats on getting in, my boy!" said All Might, pride evident in his voice.
"Thank you All Might, I couldn't have done it without your help" beamed Izuku, making sure no one heard his idol's name.
"By the way, I haven't told anyone at the school about my connection to you, though they may find out later. You got in all on your hard work!" All Might praised, knowing Izuku wouldn't feel like he earned the spot for himself.
"Thanks for that All Might" replied Izuku, grateful he hadn't received any special treatment as All Might's successor. That was the reason he hadn't accepted All Might's recommendation to UA.
"It seems your quirk is perfectly compatible with One For All." said All Might bringing Izuku out of his musings. "It's a good thing. Because otherwise, you may have hurt yourself. Though... Your control is still an issue" This made Izuku wince, recalling the damage he caused.
All Might picked up a can from the floor. "So not fret Young Midoriya! You will need time, but eventually, you will get a ha ng of it!" he said, going into his muscle form and crushing the can like it was nothing. After running for a little while, Izuku went home and finally got peaceful sleep. Though. He still had school tomorrow.
The next day, Izuku sat in his class, waiting for homeroom to start.
All the students, except him and Bakugou, were chattering amongst themselves. Bakugou had a look that promised death to anyone who talked to him today, so no one asked him how his UA exam results were.
Izuku guessed that the reason for the blonde's anger was that he had not gotten a first place at the entrance exam. It was a good thing that UA hadn't released the top 10 leaderboards for the exam, otherwise, Izuku was sure he would have been attacked by now.
The teacher walked in and Izuku prepared for the inevitable. The UA results would be discussed last, so the teacher started with all the other student's results. Eventually, he reached the remaining two students, Bakugu and Izuku…
"Two students from our school, both from our class, have taken the exams for UA. High" said the teacher.
All the students started whispering amongst each other. They all knew that the quirkless loser of their class had taken the exams, and so had the star student with the perfect quirk. Nobody was whispering about Bakugou though, which pissed him off even more. Or maybe everything pissed off the angry pomeranian.
All around him, Izuku could hear them snickering in his direction. He sighed. They all likely expected him to utterly fail, and for Bakugou to get first place. So, instead of putting his head down, Izuku looked towards the teacher and grinned like All Might, without transforming of course. The teacher didn't notice it, but the others did. They all turned to look at their teacher, except Bakugou who narrowed his eyes on the green-haired boy. The teacher continues speaking.
"The first person is Bakugou Katsuki, who not only passed the written exam but also placed second in the practical exam with 77 points," he says with a smile. Everyone claps for him, which annoys him too much.
"SHUT UP! I WAS SUPPOSED TO GET FIRST PLACE! THIS ISN'T A REAL WIN" he yelled, shutting up all the noise. It took all of Izuku's patience and then some for Izuku to not burst out laughing at that.
"Now, now, calm down Bakugou. The second student who took the test was Midoriya Izuku" The snickering continues "He passed the written test and… placed first in the practical exam with 199 points!" The snickering instantly stopped as everyone turned towards Izuku with shocked looks. This made the boy put his arms above his head since he wasn't used to so much attention. Bakugou gave him a murderous glare from where he was sitting but didn't say or do anything… for now.
No one said anything after that bombshell and classes went on as usual. At the end of the day, the two students to get into UA High were called into the Principal's Office. Izuku walked a few steps behind a fuming Bakugou. The entire day had been IZuku waiting for Bakugou to just explode on him. Izuku's school was stretchable, so if he had to defend himself, he could transfer. But the silent treatment was worse than just outright getting attacked. Eventually, they reached the office and were instantly greeted by their grinning principal.
"Congratulations you two! It's surprising that two of our students were able to get into UA and in the hero course no less! Especially you Midoriya!" the principal. Izuku could practically hear Bakugou gritting his teeth, but the principal didn't notice or didn't care and continues to praise them both, raising Bakugou's anger even more.
After school, Bakugou finally corned and pished him against the wall of the classroom.
"Tell me how a loser like you can get into UA DEKU!" he sneered, burning Izuku's collar a little. This pissed off Izuku, who instantly transformed.
"Listen Kacchan… I got into UA because someone told me I could be a hero. And you can't stop me so stop trying" said Izuku, with eyes glowing an electric-green and his perfect All Might smile in place. Even Katsuki was intimidated and quickly let go of Izuku, who let go of his transformation and went out of class.
"Deku… You are a pebble in my path, I swear I will figure how you got in, even if I have to beat it out of you at UA!" Bakugou thought with anger before leaving himself.
