Outside his cave house, Wile E. Coyote is searching through a trash bin filled with discarded food. He brings out an empty can of sardines, a chicken bone, egg shells and a fish skeleton, all of which he throws away in sheer denial. After some more digging through the trash bin, the Coyote brings up a rotten apple core.
Coyote (Emptius Stomachus)
Taking a few whiffs at the apple core, Wile E. lets out a disgusted "Bleaugh!", but since he is starving, he has no other option but to eat the core. As he chews on his slightly decayed breakfast discontentedly, the Road Runner bumps through the bin with a "BEEP BEEP!", knocking it and the Coyote over while spilling its contents in the process. Wile E., buried under the trash, lifted his head up to see the bird speeding on the highway.
Road Runner (Rushius-Rushius)
"BEEP BEEP!", says the Road Runner as he looked back at the Coyote and blew a raspberry. Wile E. then looked at the fast-feathered creature for a moment, then imagines him all tied up with an apple plugging his beak. Having found his new meal, the famished canine then licked his lips and struggles out of the trash to chase his prey, getting his utensils ready as he does so. The Road Runner looked back and noticed that the Coyote was now very close to him, with his knife and fork just an inch away from his neck. But since he knows that he will always escape the Coyote, the bird blew a raspberry at him and took on a burst of speed, disappearing into the distance at Mach 220. The surprised Coyote then halted, after which he dropped his utensils as his jaw fell down. After lifting his jaw back up, Wile E. then scratched his head, and soon gave an evil grin to the reader when his newest scheme came into mind.
For his brand new plan, the Coyote pushes a wheelbarrow holding several cacti. Stopping just at the edge of the road, he puts on safety gloves and carefully places each of the cacti on the road, making sure they don't fall over. After he is done with that, he gets a bucket of ACME Invisible Paint and begins to paint the cacti until they disappear from sight. The Coyote then heard his fast-moving meal approach and then pushed the wheelbarrow back as he hid behind a rock. However, the Road Runner manages to harmlessly bowl over the cacti without getting even a single thorn on himself. Some of the invisible cacti then landed on Wile E., who then emerged and walked away covered in cactus thorns.
After that prickly failure, the Coyote then builds a trapdoor in the road containing loads of sharks in a gargantuan pool, making sure it is big enough for the Road Runner to fall in. To test the trap, the Coyote presses the button on the remote which opens the trapdoor. Hearing the Road Runner again, Wile E. hurriedly closed the trapdoor and hid behind a rock. Just as the Road Runner approached, the Coyote pressed the remote as the bird passed... but it's jammed. Frustrated, the Coyote walked to the trapdoor and tried to pry it open.
Nearby, the Road Runner watched his enemy attempt to unjam the trap, and found the remote control at his feet. Picking it up with one wing, the Road Runner opened the battery holder and removed the batteries, which were somehow dead. Throwing the dead batteries away, the bird then placed new ones in the remote control and pressed it. This resulted in the trapdoor finally opening and the Coyote falling in the shark pool to be mauled brutally by the dangerous fish. "BEEP BEEP!", said the Road Runner as he zoomed off.
Next, the Coyote then lies in wait for the Road Runner with an ACME Giant Butterfly Net in hold, and then jumps out and onto the road to capture him. But instead, he has caught an actual giant monarch butterfly, which is looking him in the eye with a death glare. Realizing he has messed up, Wile E. raised the net from the giant insect as he plastered an embarrased grin on his face and kissed its feet in an attempt to apologize. But just as he was about to run away, the giant butterfly, remaining unhappy at his catcher, grabs him by the tail and clobbers him, finishing by wrapping the butterfly net around him. The Coyote then walks off dazed.
Now, Wile E. then sets up a giant knife which will swing down on the road and slice the Road Runner in half. After testing the trap with a pull of the lever, he spots his prey and resets the knife's position. However, the Road Runner manages to run so fast that he is still in one piece as the knife hits the road with such force that it recoils and seemingly slices the Coyote instead. Wile E. then felt himself and realized he was still okay, and walked off, unaware of the fact that the fur on his back had been sliced off.
Deciding to resort to chasing, the Coyote orders an ACME Jet-Powered Motorcycle that might surely help him catch up to his prey. As the Road Runner comes by saying "BEEP BEEP!", Wile E. then revs up the motorcycle and drives after him. At first, he has trouble handling the extremely speedy motorcycle as he almost falls off, but soon gets the hang of it and the chase continues. It all goes pretty well for the Coyote until the bird leaves the road and leads him into a dynamite shack. The Road Runner then steps out and moves well away as the explosives go off, destroying the shack and propelling a charred Wile E. into the air, who is now holding nothing but the handlebars of the now-destroyed motorcycle. He then ends up falling into a deep canyon, where he shrinks into a tiny dot as he gets closer to the canyon floor.
POW!
Returning to deception, Wile E. crafts a dummy made from explosives and puts a diaper on it to look like a baby. He then places the fake baby in a carriage, disguises himself as a woman and goes out on the road pushing the carriage. "BEEP BEEP!", the Road Runner cried as he ran past the disguised Wile E. and pulled over. Pretending to be a caring mother, the Coyote looked at the bird and allowed him to rub the "baby", which the Road Runner did.
However, the explosives did not go off yet, allowing the bird to finish rubbing the baby and continue running, but not before holding a sign that says, "Thanks for letting me see your cute baby!". As the Coyote, still in disguise, just stood there baffled, the explosives finally detonated, blackening him and reducing his clothes to rags.
Now, Wile E. brings in an army tank and boards it. As the Road Runner arrives with a "BEEP BEEP!", the Coyote drives his tank after him and shoots several missiles at the bird, all of which he misses. He finally corners the bird on a dead end and is about to shoot him. But just as Wile E. fired his last missile, the bird stepped sideways and ran back the opposite way as the missile destroyed part of the cliff wall, causing a crack to appear as it reached a boulder above. This caused the boulder to wobble and fall from its spot towards the Coyote. Horrified, the Coyote held a sign that read, "Now I know why tanks should only be used in the army!", as the boulder crushed him and his tank.
Finally, the Coyote chases the Road Runner on foot, following him through several highways and mountains. At last, they came onto a railroad where they kept chasing and chasing, until Wile E. chased the bird into a tunnel. A train horn is then heard as the Coyote ran away from it... but there's nothing following him. When Wile E. realizes his mistake, he looks back to see the Road Runner say... "HONK HONK!". This surprised the Road Runner, so he then taps his neck with his foot a few times until he got his beeping right, and then taunts the Coyote as he runs back into the tunnel. Wile E. then chases after him again, but another train horn is heard, and this time, it turns out to be a real train, which hits the Coyote with him stuck on it! The driver then turns out to be none other than the Road Runner, who proudly looks at us and says "BEEP BEEP!", as the iris out closes.
That's all, folks!
