Chapter 3- Strategic Retreat
"But then again, they might not?', I said to her. My head tilted to the side in a thoughtful manner. "I mean, it's only been one night. It's not like they know anything about us to catch us in the first place".
"That is true", she says in a thoughtful manner.
We look towards each other and reach a conclusion
"We should run, shouldn't we", she said in a deadpan voice.
"What are you talking about? We don't … run. We're just retreating strategically and having the vacation we always wanted. And it will only be for a few months anyways.
"Oh please", she laughs out, "After how we ditched them the morning after? I'm surprised we even woke up before them."
"Don't jinx us please. I'm trying to think happy thoughts here."
"You think happy thoughts?", she says with an incredulous look.
"Oh shush. You know what I mean. We should start pack- holy shit!", I said. My lip trembles in shock as I look towards the locked balcony. Right there was Hisoka and Illumi in the flesh. Hisoka is sitting on the railing with an irritating smirk on his face. His posture relaxed. He raised his hand and waved in a friendly manner. His eyes though were a different matter altogether. He looked ready to skin me alive to be honest.
Illumi wasn't that different either. He just stood leaning against the railing next to hisoka. His hands folded across his chest and his legs crossed. His soulless eyes just kept staring at Hime with an intensity that was probably enough to set her on fire.
Hime turns around and and takes a step back in shock, "The fuck?", she whispers loud enough for only us to hear.
"I thought you said they wouldn't come after us?", she whispers harshly whilst tilting her head slightly towards me.
"No, I said they MIght not come after us. Key word being might.", I whispered back.
"Hime...I think we're going to have to skip the packing step and just get straight to the running for our lives step."
"I thought we don't run?", she says with an innocent tone.
"Are we really going into specifics now! Look, we can probably take the elevator out whilst being invisible and-" Illumi is gone. Like vanishes into thin air-gone. And we're probably trapped like mice.
Hime notices too. And the situation is starting to sink in.
"Should we split?", she asks
And suddenly Hisoka is moving forward towards the balcony glass door and- Bang!, hits it so hard the door vibrates and shakes uncontrollably. His head tilts to the side, his smiles widens and his eyes turn dark and cruel. He points to the lock on the balcony door and indicates to open it.
That should have been his first action instead of trying to break the door down! I have never been so thankful for my paranoia to buy the best quality goods before today. And then there's a knock on the door. And Hime turns towards the front door whilst I keep staring at the balcony to make sure the door does not break. Because I like my life…
Hime on the other hand, is panicking because from the side of my eye. I can see that front door handle turn to try and open up- I knew it. That bloody Illumi.
And suddenly we're into action- and so are they. Skipping the packing step and running straight into our rooms and locking the doors. The idea was to throw them off by letting them think we were stuck inside whilst we each have a teleportation ring that would take us to different locations. In those locations there are other rings hidden that will take us to different hideouts so that we lose any tails. If the other is in any danger, the rings would heat up as an emergency signal and immediately teleport the other to the person in need.
Although, I don't think we had this situation in mind when we made it. I thought exasperatedly. The door had finally given up and let the males in. I activated the ring just as the bedroom door opened (broke down) and escaped.
