Darkness was all around, Shirou desperately looked for a way out but found none. Suddenly a light appeared on the horizon and he instinctively moved toward it. Shirou could swear he walked for hours yet he seemed to get no closer. Then the entire world changes before his very eyes. He is suddenly standing in a field looking at a white haired woman about his height but a little older.
"Who are you, why are you in my head?" he asks, looking concerned.
"You do not even ask if this is a dream?" she asks
"It's impossible for me to have dreams. I have special spells placed on me so I don't dream… too many nightmares." Shirou explains
"I see." she says looking him in the eye. It feels like she can look into his very soul.
"What do you want?" he asks, starting to get irritated.
"You."
"What do you mean."
"I have had ten years to heal and now it's time you face your punishment." she says, still remaining emotionless and calm. A feeling of horror settles over Shirou as he remembers what happened Ten years ago… the holy grail war.
"No, Saber destroyed the Holy Grail." Shirou says as he starts to shake. The woman before him grins slightly before she speaks again.
"And yet here I stand."
"You're the holy grail?"
"This is the form I appear in currently. This is the form of the previous vessel."
"Irisviel Von Einzbern.".
She nodded.
"How do you still exist!?" Shirou said angrily, taking a step toward the woman.
"You can't kill me, I am Incorporeal. Your attempt at my destruction was nothing more than a hindrance."
"Not even you could survive a hit from Saber's Noble phantasm."
"Come now my dear boy, do you think I would supply a being I created with the power to decimate me?"
"That was her own power, it was the power of Excalibur!"
"That is false, Excalibur is still an artifact lost to time, what you witnessed was merely a projection given physical form. The real Artoria Pendragon also known as King Aurther died long ago."
"So you don't give them new life?"
"In a way yes.the summoned servants will have all the memories of the real heroes and will act as the originals would but I do not bring the dead to the present only a projection."
"Is that beyond your power?"
"Hardly. If I wanted to I could summon the originals but I have never felt the need to. Projections do the same job and are far less difficult for Mages to summon."
"I understand. But why have you summoned me!?"
"I am a fair object and wish to inform you of your punishment before I exact it."
"Why did it take you so long. You said you had to heal for ten years."
"Unfortunately the Saber class servant did more damage to me than expected."
"So it is possible to destroy you?"
At this the holy grail just grins and gives a small giggle.
"You still believe you could ever destroy me? Silly boy I am eternal."
"But you can be damaged!"
"Damage and desolation are different things. You can evaporate water but you can not destroy it, it will always return. I am the same."
Shirou falls to his knees horrified by the monstrosity that stands before him.
"You are not holy, you are from the deepest pit of hell."
"I did not give myself the name holy grail Shirou, that was humans."
"You are going to punish me?"
"Yes, for trying to exterminate me I shall make you participate in the greatest war to ever grace humanity." the grail says a devilish smile appearing on its face.
"n-no"
"Shirou Emiya accept your punishment, you are to participate in the coming holy grail war."
"no"
"You will fight the other six masters."
"No
"And you will kill them, or they will kill you."
"NO"
"Accept your fate,"
"NO!"
"You have four months"
Shirou sat up panting and full of sweet and then felt a burning sensation in his left hand as command seals appear. He looks over and is slightly relieved to see his wife silently sleeping. He rolls over and kisses her cheek before getting up and going to check on his daughter. He slides open the door to her room and sees her also peacefully sleeping. Knowing he wouldn't be able to sleep again that night he goes to the kitchen and with his shaky hands he makes some tea to try and calm down a little… it doesn't work.
While drinking his tea he his mind can only wonder to the horrid carnage of the holy grail war he had last participated in. He knew how to be a master now and also knew he would need a strong servant. He wondered who he could try and summon. His mind briefly wondered to Saber… but he couldn't do that to her again, he had to pick someone new. While his mind was busy trying to come up with Ideas he suddenly noticed a few droplets of wetness on his hand and then he saw some more… he was crying. Shirou set his cup down and brought his hands to his eyes as he let go and began to weep into them. 'It isn't fair' was all he could think. Shirou had worked so hard to get to where he was today, a respected mage in london. He was more powerful in magic now than ever and he had a family… oh gods his family, how could he protect them. After a while dating and lots of courage Shirou had finally asked the love of his life to marry him and thankfully Rin said yes. After a year they had a daughter together, his little Sae. she was five now. He felt so helpless, and all he could do was sob.
"Shirou?" the groggy voice of Rin Emiya called out as she stumbled into the kitchen. Shirou was still crying and didn't notice her.
"Hon you okay?" she says while sitting next to him and placing her hand on his shoulder startling him. He looks at her before wrapping his arms around her and crying while saying something inaudible to her. She is concerned but lets him cry and does her best to comfort him. Eventually their daughter comes out also groggy, like her mother she has inherited the not being a morning person trait.
"Mommy what's going on?" she asks, rubbing her eyes before seeing her father crying. She runs up to them her long black hair bouncing as she runs. "Is daddy okay?" she asks full of concern.
"Oh Darling I think daddy needs us right now." she says opening her arm while her daughter comes and joins in hugging her father. The two sit and Hug Shirou while he finishes crying.
"Are you okay now daddy?" the little girl says holding his face with both of her hands.
"Yes, I will be. You should go back to bed. I need to talk with Mommy for a little while." he says kissing her head. The small girl makes a pout
"You never let me stay for the fun stuff." she says her small hands on her hips.
"Sae, go back to bed. I think me and daddy do have to talk." her mother says a little sternly.
"Fine." she says going off to her room.
"So will you tell me what is wrong?" Rin asked her her husband
"It's the holy grail."
"What do you mean? we destroyed it."
"No we didn't. We only injured it for a while."
"How do you know."
"It called to me, in a dream... It's punishing me."
"In a dream? How is it going to punish you?"
"It's making me a master again."
"What?" Rin says with a shocked expression. "How do you know?" he shows her the scarlet symbols on his hand
"I'm gonna have to participate in the grail war again."
"Wait can't you just go surrender to the church?"
"Rin, the grail said this is going to be the greatest of all wars, I have a feeling that's not an option this time."
"Well, I guess we're gonna have to do this together again." she says as a touch of fear enters her eyes.
"No! absolutely not!"
"What do you mean?" she demands "I'm your wife Shirou, that means I'm gonna be by your side for this!"
"No you won't, I'm not sure if I can protect myself through this, but I know damn well I'm gonna keep you and Sae safe."
"Damn it don't be so stubborn. I can take care of myself and we can have the mage association care for Sale."
"No, you're one of the most powerful Mages in the association and I want you to protect our daughter personally, I am gonna send you to Fuyuki when the time comes. Sakura can keep you both safe then."
"Why are you being like this!?"
"BECAUSE I REFUSE TO WATCH MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER DIE!!" he yells while grabbing her arms forcefully. "Please Rin… I can't put you or Sae through a holy grail war."
"I understand that. But I love you Shirou and I don't want to lose you either. If I sit on the sidelines and hear that you died knowing I could have helped. I don't think I could live anymore."
"No, don't say that. Please Rin. I will need your help leading up to the war but once it starts I need to ensure both you and our little girl stay safe. If I do Die Sae will still need a mother but if we both participate and die together... She would be all alone. And I can't bear to think about that."
"Fine." Rin says sadly. "But don't think for a second If i see you need help I won't send it."
"I count on it." Shirou says smiling softly while taking her hand in his and kissing her knuckles.
"How long do we have till the war starts?"
"Four months."
"Great, we can start training in the morning. I want you to be prepared for anything."
"Good. I also want to start planning what servant I should try and summon."
"Could you try and summon saber again?"
"Maybe, but I can't put her through another grail war, I also think I need something different for this war."
"Like?"
"I don't know yet."
"Shirou we have a lot to do."
"Yeah."
"One of the things you might do is give me something"
"Like what?"
"Well, I wanted to ask you about this later but now it might be a now or never thing."
"What do you mean?"
"I want to have another baby." At those words Shirou's eyes almost popped out of his head.
"Are you siris?"
"Yes. I have been thinking about it for a while and now with the war and everything… I just want another Emiya for our family."
Shirou smiles and kisses her
"I love you."
"I love you too." she replies a little more awkwardly than him. The two spend the rest of the night starting on the detailed plans for victory in the holy grail war.
-Four months later-
"Okay tonights the night." Rin said tentatively.
"Yeah," Shirou says looking nervous.
"You have the artifact?"
"Yep."
"And you know how to summon them?"
"Yes hon."
"Okay our plane is about to leave… be careful okay."
"You too, take good care of both our babies." he says smiling and putting a hand on her abdomen, Rin smiles back and pulls him in for a kiss. Soon though he watches and both Rin and Sae leave for Fuyuki where Sakura has been alerted to their arrival.
Shirou makes his way back home to collect a few things for the summoning before going to an abandoned church to make his summoning.
-Meanwhile in Germany-
A woman known as Cayreel von Lestreen skips along the road on her way to a hill in Wolfratshausen, a town outside of Munich. A master herself preparing to summon her servant. She smiles as she sets up and pulls out her artifact ,a very old eyepatch.
"Wellp, time to get this show on the road!" she says cheerfully aloud while bouncing with excitement.
-Just outside of manchester-
Lilly Espear finishes her summoning circle and places her artifact a broken arrow down on it. She pulls her blue coat on a little tighter while waiting for the right time to begin. She sighs and pulls out her phone contacting her lakey that it was almost time.
-In Rennes France-
Master Jacques Morcalvil finishes his circle also placing his relic in the middle. He wheels himself back to a computer checking on several things before he sits back in his wheelchair and observes his artifact, a black piece of cloth.
"How strange such a small piece of cloth radiates this much magical power." he says pushing up his glasses.
-In Syberia-
A tall dark-haired man known as Vestreen Kurvall puts the final touches on his summoning circle. He sits down with a huff before taking out his artifact, a rusted dagger. He shrugs of his coat and prepares for the right time.
-Is Austin Texas U.S.A-
David Nemesis lays back on the cool grass waiting, he has finished everything he needed to and his artifact, an old scalpel, sits in the middle of his circle.
"This had better fuckin work." he says before taking out a cigar and lighting it.
-somewhere in the woods-
Bodys lay everywhere and blood smeared the grass while Celia smiled and cut flesh from bone on her latest victim.
"It's almost time for the real carnage to start." she said before singing some devilish song to herself. In the middle of her summoning circle layed a perfectly white human bone.
Shirou took a deep breath and placed his artifact in the circle, it was a small wooden cross necklace. He began to focus his magical energy and once again took a deep breath.
"Let silver and steel be the essence. Let stone and the archduke of contracts be the foundation." Cayreel began
"Let rise a wall against the wind that shall fall. Let the four cardinal gates close. Let the three-forked road from the crown reaching unto the Kingdom rotate." Lilly said
"Let it be declared now; your flesh shall serve under me, and my fate shall be with your sword. Submit to the beckoning of the Holy Grail. Answer, if you would submit to this will and this truth."
Jacques continues
"An oath shall be sworn here. I shall attain all virtues of all of Heaven; I shall have dominion over all evils of all of Hell." Vestreen says stoically
"Yet you shall serve with your eyes clouded by chaos. For you would be one caged in madness. I shall wield your chains." Celia says a demonic smile covering her face
"From the Seventh Heaven, attended to by three great words of power, come forth from the ring of restraint, protector of the holy balance!" David finishes.
Magical energy surrounds the circles and a blinding light envelopes everything, when the light dims down there are seven figures left in its place.
"I ask of you! Are you my master!" A young blond woman in silver armor and blue clothing asks Shirou, a lance with a banner flying on it held tightly in her hand.
"Yes I am. Hello Jeanne d'Arc." he replies with a satisfied smile.
