"Did you manage to find anything else?" A darkened figure asked as it looked over several manila folders. Trying to figure out what all had been accessed thanks to Halo.
"Yes, thanks to the information Halo passed. I believe we have enough to bring down the Hero Public Safety Commission once and for all. The pro hero Hawks was a child soldier used to raise public opinion of heroes and consolidate power. The pro hero known as Halo was an orphan, who was experimented on, and treated like an animal. All in the name of creating better lives for quirked kind." Shouta's eyes flashed with anger, worry, sadness as it all seemed to connect.
"What do you plan to do, Sir?"
"I will be forwarding this information to Tsukauchi when I get a chance. From there, I'll be looking to press charges against the HPSC. For the meantime, Halo is under our care and as such should be looked after." Mr. Aizawa nodded; the man had protected him during the USJ. The least he could do was look after him now.
"And one more thing Aizawa, try not to adopt this one." Shouta's face flashed with a hint of unease as he nodded to the bear, mouse, thing. He wasn't sure what Principal Nedzu had meant by such words.
3 Days Later
"Major updates from the scene at the Kamino District. The villain known as All for One has been killed, remains were found at the site of the incident and local authorities have released a statement stating that the villain known as All for One is no more. In other news, the hero known as All Might has announced his official retirement. There will be a ceremony held within the Kamino District tonight for the mourning of those lost at the scene." The news anchor announced as they soon moved onto other announcements.
All for One was dead for real this time, gone, a splatter of flesh and bone against the ground. Though many within the hero community still worried about the league of villains. Others found their goals shifting. More pressing matters already taking precedence.
Things would go on as 'normal', all of U.A.'s courses would be consolidated onto school grounds and dormitories would be constructed for the students' safety. Halo would lay dormant for some time, having been knocked unconscious at the scene.
He'd suffered severe head trauma at the time and was likely concussed. This of course didn't explain the long dormant sleep, but no one seemed to question such a thing. Assuming that the hero simply needed rest. Which while fair, likely wasn't the case.
The world would move on from the battle at Kamino ward. The scene became that of a distant memory as more pressing matters came to fruition.
Though I suppose those adventures are a subject of another time.
1 Month Later
"He's waking up, be quiet please." Voiced the youthful hero known as Recovery Girl. A cane already raised to meet the man who'd tried to rush the process. He'd come in several times in the past four weeks to ensure Halo's safety.
"Aghh-" Izuku's mouth moved on its own, releasing a heavy sigh as he sat up from his hardened bed. Though he supposed it was far better than that of the one he was provided by the commission.
"Ah, you're awake." Shouta commented as he sat down beside the man's bed side.
"Who are you?" Halo asked, looking across from him to meet harsh eyes that reminded him of those he'd seen before. The man in question's mouth seemed to move as he pondered the question.
"Shouta Aizawa otherwise known as the pro hero Eraser Head." Izuku nodded, he seemed to have remembered the man from somewhere, yet he couldn't place it with all the fog that was clouding his memory's.
"Whe-where am I?" Halo once again questioned as he looked out the windows, seeing sun within the Hero Public Safety Commissions building was rare, and- 'Why aren't I in the labs?'
"This is U.A.'s recovery wing. You've been under the care of Recovery Girl since you arrived from the fight in Kamino ward." Aizawa voiced, gaining another nod from the hero sitting before him.
"U.A.?" Izuku asked, his mind running as fast as it could to make connections that just weren't available.
'Does the commission know-' "Do the doctors known-Does the president know-Why am I here-Whathappned." His mind picked up speed trying to process everything and yet it couldn't.
"D-does the commission know?" Halo finally asked, stuttering as he did so. Worry and realization smacked him as the teacher shook his head. "They don't know?"
"They don't know and never will know. You have been transferred under the care of Principal Nedzu-" Izuku's head moved faster than ever before, looking the man up and down as his mind tried to understand.
"Why?"
"The information that you leaked to Shinsou Hitoshi was forwarded to Principal Nedzu. He along with the help of a close friend managed to dissolve the Hero Public Safety Commission as it once was and, in its place, a new system has been put in place that has no ties other than the regulation to hero society." Halo nodded to Mr. Aizawa, trying to understand what they could have found that would allow them to do so, so quickly.
"How?" Izuku asked, his voice smaller than ever before.
"Thanks to the video recordings of Dr. Catherine Halsey on a test subject known as project Halo we were able to expedite the process. However, I do not know the contents of these records, it is assumed that due to the damages and harm of said test subject. That the courts expedited the process." Aizawa hadn't seen any of the information Nedzu had gathered, just assumed that whatever it was, had to have been horrid.
"So, what happens now Sir?"
"For now, you rest. And then, when you feel able, we'll get you out of that suit and get you settled in." Halo nodded, to Aizawa. Though he did like his power armor, it could be tiring after several days of use and having to sleep in it for a month on end would explain his current muscle tenseness.
"We come to live out front of the Hero Public Safety Commission here in Tokyo! After the events of Kamino Ward, another story developed. The staff of U.A. along with the Musutafu Police Department have been working together to bring forth new knowledge on the on goings within the hero public safety commission." Behind the reporter several figures were walked out in cuffs.
"The hero known as Hawks has been an unwilling servant of the HPSC since he was four, used as a publicity stunt to try and relegate power within the organization. However, a much more worrisome development came with the leak of files titled 'Project Halo'. As many of our viewers may know, the hero called Halo is also working under the HPSC." The camera panned away from those who were in cuffs and re-focused on the reporter as she continued to go on.
"Project Halo was the creation of the next evolution of heroes. A so-called 'man-made' solution that would save quirked lives. Patients would undergo augmentation of their body to produce a hero with no known quirk. This project thankfully never came to fruition from the information the police have gathered. However, one so called 'Spartan' would be created. This test subject would become known as Halo. More information is still being gathered at this time; we'll be back at 6 with your regularly scheduled news forecast-" The television went dark as Halo continued to look into the now darkened screen.
They'd really done it, they'd brought down the Hero Public Safety Commission. However, what was he? What would become of himself now? He was a monster, someone who didn't deserves to survive that fight, someone who should have been dead.
But he was still here among the moral plain, with the heroes he'd fought beside for the last year and a half. Eraser Head had been kind to him, somewhat empathetic even. The man seemed to have a need to protect, but who would want to protect a monster-abomination like himself?
A hero, that's who
Another Month Goes by...
"Principle, Sir? Is this really a good idea?" The mouse looks up to the worried mop of green hair, a small smile planted on his face as he responds. "I believe it is best for you to learn from your peers Halo. They as well could learn from you. You still have much to learn, and maybe they'll be able to teach you what you're missing."
"But sir, what am I missing?"
"Compassion and self-worth my dear student."
Izuku nodded to the principal before him, he owed the man his life, and the lives of those who may have also been ruined by the HPSC if he hadn't stepped in. Though, Izuku still didn't know what he was supposed to understand. He wasn't worth anything, he wasn't anything but a trained soldier. A pawn in the Hero Public Safety Commissions game.
The moose pointed towards a door, one that was quite larger than Izuku himself. 'At least something's accommodates my height.' Izuku commented to himself, finding some kind of humility in everything around him.
Pushing the door open, Izuku stepped forward into the classroom of children, were they children? He didn't quite know; they weren't much younger than himself if he had to assume. Though mentally he could tell they weren't as accommodated to the real world as he was.
"Ah, you're up and about. Good to see you've made a recovery. Class, this is your new student. If you would please introduce yourself to the class." Aizawa didn't waste time, it was precious no matter how much concern welled within him.
"I'm Izuku, or who you all likely known as the hero called Halo." Izuku stated, his voice nearly betraying him as he did so. Would they judge him, hurt him, use him?
"Halo? "You're a lot youn-" "Wow so cool" "Geez not another fuckin extra!" "Hmm, a friend of the darkness?" "It can't be!" More students continued to question the presence of the man that stood before them.
"Many of you have likely seen the news. Izuku is under the protection of U.A. and undergoing training the same as all of you. Please treat him kindly, he, like a lot of you, still has much to learn." Aizawa stated, his capture scarf somewhat lifting with his hair as he once again settled his class.
Maybe this wouldn't be so bad, he was free from the Hero Public Safety Commission but what lay ahead seemed unknown, a fate he himself would have to choose. For once, maybe he could define what his own future would be.
Not a deku, not a monster, just Izuku.
Finished Notes:
"I do truly still feel that terrible times are just as important and essential as great times, but at what point are you defining yourself entirely on your terrible and not your great."
