Understand the Concept of Love

Chap 8

'Yeah. This is DJ Professor K. Bringing you another underground pirate radio station broadcast from JET SET RADIO! It has been a month since Rokkaku Goji crawled out of whatever hole he was hiding in and teamed up with Ironwoods. And since then, the crackdowns have only gotten tighter. So much so that all the rudies called a temporary truce to combat these fools and save our culture. Even smaller gangs are pitching in. Let's see who will this war.' Professor K announced over the radio before playing the next track.

I don't understand what's going on here!

'Shit, shit, shit.' I thought as Yoyo and I dodged the attacks sent our way by the Atlesian Knights.

"YO!" Yoyo shouted to me as we took cover in an alleyway.

Turning to him, I saw him pointing to a pole that we could use to get to the roofs. Nodding, we skated over and grinded to the top before jumping off and landing on the roof. Moving towards the roof corner, we saw the knights trying to figure out where we went. Using this to our advantage, we dropped down, surprising them, and before they could react, boost dash through them. They tried to get up, but we tagged them before they could do so. Unfortunately, we could not tag all of them as there were thirty in total and only two of us.

'Damn it.' I thought as we ducked in and out of any cover, we could find to avoid getting hit.

While the knights were not terribly accurate, in large numbers, they can be a problem. Luckily, there were only ten left after we tagged them. Turning to Yoyo, I motioned for him to distract the knights so I could sneak up behind them to take them out. He nodded before dashing out of cover with the knights immediately firing upon him. Seeing that the knights were distracted, I got out of cover and boost dashed through them and tagged them before they could recover. Looking around, we made sure that all the knights were taken care of to avoid a nasty surprise.

"YO!" Yoyo shouted as he skated up to me.

"I'm fine. Just getting annoyed by these knights." I answered, to which Yoyo nodded in agreement.

"Yo." He said while kicking one of the knights in the head. However, as soon as he did so, we both heard some familiar chanting.

"DON'T LET THOSE KIDS GETAWAY!" A Rokkaku officer shouted.

"HUT! HUT! HUT!" The voices of the Rokkaku police chanted as they marched towards us. Fifteen in total with six Golden Rhinos right behind them. And Captain Hayashi was also there waving his gun around like the mad man he is.

"Ah, come on." I whined, annoyed that we could not even catch a break.

Bracing ourselves, we both dashed to the sides to grind up some poles to avoid the first wave of bullets from the Golden Rhinos. Grinding along the power lines, we skated and jumped along the power lines to dodge the continued fire from the Golden Rhinos. Soon, however, they were forced to reload. Seeing this as our chance, we jumped off and immediately boost dashed through all of them. We managed to tag all of the Golden Rhinos, but before we could try and tag the others, we were forced to move away to avoid getting blown up by a tank shot. Turning around, we saw three tanks rolling up to us. Yet, it seemed fate was on our side as there were instantly taken out by Rapid 99, who came to lend a hand.

"Why, you little punks." Hayashi growled as the Rokkaku police managed to get back to their feet. Annoyed, we dashed forward and knocked them all down before they could fire off a single shot. And in less than five minutes, they were all defeated and were now retreating.

"Thanks for the save Rapid 99." I said, panting.

"No problem. Now, if you don't mind, we're heading back to 99st to catch some rest as we've been up the past four nights dealing with Atlas soldiers trying to encroach on our territory." Kat said before they turned around and headed back to their home.

"How about we take a note from their book and head back to the garage?" I asked, turning to Yoyo, who was lying down on the ground, exhausted. He nodded as he got up before we made our way to the garage.

Twenty Minutes Later

'Thank Oum.' I thought as we finally reached the garage.

Seeing that no one else was here, we figured that they were out dealing with either the Rokkaku or Atlas forces. Heading over to the couch, I sat down with the intent of actually getting some proper rest while Yoyo went to his room to take a quick nap. It has been a month since Rokkaku and Ironwoods teamed up. And since then, they have not wasted a single moment in trying to stomp out our culture. At first, Ironwoods and Goji only sent the Rokkaku dogs and Atlas foot soldiers after us. But after a week of seeing no progress, they essentially decided not to hold back and send in everything they had at their disposal. And that meant sending the Golden Rhinos and specialists along with Atlesian Knights and even a few Paladins.

At first, it seemed like they might do the trick in taking us out. But we managed to defeat them with relative ease. However, then came a problem we should have seen from the beginning. And that was the sheer number of soldiers, vehicles, and robots they had at their disposal. This meant that we were constantly getting attacked as soon as we left the garage. But that was just the beginning, as after the third week, the home turfs of Rapid 99 and the Love Shockers were discovered and were now under near-constant attack. Naturally, we helped them whenever we could, but it was getting tiring.

"Hey, Jaune." Rhyth said as she skated skate up and sat down next to me.

"Hey, Rhyth. What's in the bag?" I asked while pointing to her right hand.

"Oh, just some supplies for a project me and Yoyo and planning on doing later." She answered.

"That's nice. Just promise me that it won't cause a mess or explosion. The last thing we need right now is a furious Cube and a pissed-off Gum." I told her.

"It won't. Anyway, where's Yoyo?" She asked.

"In his room taking a nap." I answered. She nodded before quickly skating over to his room. "Young love."

"You're one to talk." The voice of Jazz said as she sat down next to me.

"Plus, you're technically only three years older than Yoyo and two years older than Rhyth." Boogie added as she sat down on my other side.

"Either way, it's refreshing to see something like that." I said, rolling my eyes. "But enough of that. How's your day been going?"

"Terrible." They both answered at the same time.

"I bet." I said as I took off my skates and massaged my feet.

"Any word on what's going from your friends at Beacon?" Jazz asked.

"Not much that could immediately help us. Although, they did hear that most of Atlas's forces, along with Ironwoods, would be returning to Atlas as they needed to strengthen their defense as a horde of Grimm came dangerously close to the kingdom." I answered.

"That will give us some much-needed breathing room then." Boogie said with a sigh of relief.

"And possibly allow you to ask out the girl that kissed you." Jazz said with a smirk when she saw me blush. Ever since they saw Pyrrha kiss me, they have been teasing me almost non-stop.

"Would be nice at seeing another rudie find love." Another voice cut in before I could say anything. Looking towards the entrance that takes us to Shibuya Terminal, we saw Combo, Garam, and Beat skating towards us while carrying many bags.

"What about Beat and Gum?" I countered as they set down the bags on the nearby table. As they started taking out the items, we noticed that they had got the medical supplies we were running low on. Hey, just because we have aura and can tank some hits doesn't mean we can't get hurt.

"I meant a real relationship." Garam clarified, which earned him an undignified 'Hey!' from Beat. We all just laughed at him before getting up and helping to put away all the supplies.

Two Hours Later

'This is DJ Professor K coming to you with your evening dose of my silky-smooth voice and out of sight sounds. Y'all better get your raincoats ready as I see some heavy rain coming. As for you daredevils out there, this means the Sky Dinosaurian Square is ripe for the picking. But for the rest of you, don't worry, fools. The rain should be gone by the end of the weekend. And I know exactly what y'all are really waiting for. The weather is clear for our monthly tradition. Now, back to your regularly scheduled broadcast.' Professor K reported as he played the next track.

"Maybe you can invite that Pyrrha girl to the party?" Cube suggested as we ate our dinner. This time outside as we wanted to enjoy the cool starry night.

"Maybe." I answered as I took a bite out of the cheeseburger that I had made. After that, we stayed in silence while enjoying the food, the starry night, and the music Professor K played. The silence was only broken when we heard someone skating towards us. Looking towards the gate that would take us to Dogenzaka Hill, we saw Coco and Velvet skating towards us.

"Hey, you two." Cube greeted them as they reached us.

"Hey, guys." Velvet greeted back as she came to a halt. "Sorry, we couldn't get here earlier or come as often."

"Yeah, classes at Beacon and keeping an eye on Ironwoods and Goji were proving to be a real hassle." Coco added.

"That's understandable." Combo said as he took a bite of his food.

"Hungry?" Corn asked while pointing to the two remaining burgers I made for them.

"Nice. We missed blondie's cooking." Coco answered as she and Velvet took a seat before I passed them their burgers. They took a bite with their faces turning into bliss. "Delicious."

"Yo." Yoyo agreed as she finished his burger.

"Does he say anything outside of 'yo,' Jaune?" Velvet asked.

"He does, but he prefers to say yo. Don't worry, though; you'll understand what he's getting at after a while." I explained.

"Is that where he got his nickname?" Coco asked.

"Pretty much." Garam answered.

"I know everyone here has a nickname. What's yours, blondie?" Coco asked.

"I have two, actually. One is Tempo while the other is Crescent." I answered.

"How did you get those nicknames?" Velvet asked.

"Crescent because it closely resembles my family name, Arc. As for Tempo, it was because of how well I can dance to the timing of any song." I explained.

"Care to show us your moves, blondie?" Coco asked while lowering her shades with a smirk.

"Another time." Gum interjected. "Right now, we need to know everything you both learned the past week about Goji and Ironwoods."

"Aside from what we told Jaune earlier in the week, nothing much outside of Ironwoods taking most of his forces back to Atlas to deal with some Grimm." Coco answered.

"Oh, wait. I heard earlier that Ironwoods would be taking Goji with him. Mainly because Glynda doesn't want him anywhere near the students." Velvet added.

"Will he be taking any of the Rokkaku police or Golden Rhinos with him?" Corn asked.

"Not sure. All I heard was that Ironwoods would be taking Goji with him back to Atlas." She answered.

"Well, either way, that would give us some breathing room to rest." Beat said with a sigh of relief.

"Let's hope that Ironwoods doesn't try and upgrade the Rokkaku or Golden Rhinos arsenal." Jazz said, to which we instantly agreed.

'All hell would break loose if that happens.' I mentally agreed as I finished my food.

"We best keep ourselves in shape and train while we have the chance." Gum declared.

"We should start tomorrow after a good night's rest." Corn added as we got up and piled the dishes together.

"Speaking of which, do you mind if we stay here for the night since the bullheads are out?" Coco asked.

"Sure. You're both GGs now. We even made a room for the both of you last week. " Corn answered. "Jaune can show you the rooms."

"Neat." Coco commented.

"Better get a good sleep as tomorrow we're going to teach you some more advanced techniques." Beat told them.

"Really?" Velvet asked, excited while Coco let out another smirk.

"Yeah. It's going to be fun." I said as we knew it was going to be real fun; for us anyway.

"Where are you are going to teach us?" Coco asked. We all smirked before answering.

"The Sky Dinosaurian Square."
