"So…what are you exactly doing?" Bunnyx asked her older self as she was dialing at her watch, as her older self was wirelessly (magic after all) transferring something to the other Miraculouses.
"Just a program that helps with the tracking of the anomalies." Future Bunnyx said. "The bigger ones may be on the move again soon." Future Bunnyx said.
"And you cannot tell us anything more about it?" Ladybug asked with an exaggerated sigh.
"Sorry, that would be telling." Future Bunnyx (now calling her F-Bunnyx for short) replied.
"Stupid cryptic timey-wimey stuff." Chat huffed. "How do we know what to look out for?"
"I can only give you one hint. You all know each other well enough, you will not be fooled easily." F-Bunnyx stated.
"That is not clear at all." Queen Bee noted.
"It'll make sense when it happens." F-Bunnyx noted. "Now you best all move along. I am going to teach my younger self how to deal with the smaller anomalies, because even if the bigger ones are out of the way, there will be several smaller ones later down the line and you'll have your work cut out for you."
"Like we haven't already." Rena Rouge sighed.
"You just go home and wait, it will eventually catch up to you. I'm taking Mini-Me towards her new training session." F-Bunnyx said as she gave her younger self a noogie.
"It's not because you are an older me you have to patronize me!" Bunnyx muttered.
"It's adorable. I need to take a picture." Pipistrello said as she picked the ruby heart gemstone of her chest, opened it up like a compact, and accessed the phone function.
"Sorry, no pictures of me, preserving timestream and all." F-Bunnyx said as she dialed on her watch and there came some static on Pipistrello's Miracu-com and she pouted. "Anyhow, meet you later. Come along Mini-Me!"
"Don't call me that. To me you are 'old-lady-me'!" Bunnyx sighed.
"Touché!" F-Bunnyx noted as she opened a portal.
"So…what now?" Roi Singe asked.
"We'll do as she says, we go home. Those whom still have patrol left, do that first and keep your eyes out for anything out of the ordinary." Ladybug said. "I need to finish up a commission and restock on potions and cookies for Tikki."
"Good idea…I need to work on a person project too." Pegasus noted.
After everyone went their own ways, going home or where ever they needed to be to finish up some personal projects or tasks. Though a feeling of something bad about to happen wouldn't leave them, though to be fair, they felt like that every day.
Marinette stepped into the bakery that was part of her home. "Hi Mom, Hi Dad. Crazy day. What else is new. I'll tell you later but first I got to…"
"Marinette?" Sabine asked. "Didn't you go upstairs half an hour ago?" She and Tom both had confused look.
"I only got back just now…" Marinette said with a pensive look. "When I came in again earlier, was I off to you?"
"Well, you stumbled over your feet and words…but not like you do nowadays, it was more like at the beginning of the school year when you first became Ladybug. Like you regressed. We would have questioned but customers came in…" Tom added.
"Mom, Dad…once you hear a loud sound, get out of here as fast as possible." She grabbed a cookie from the counter and put it in her purse with Tikki before leaving a few one euro coins on the counter. "Something tells me it may get messy." She said as she stormed up.
Tom and Sabine stood there, blinking. "What day is it, Tom?" Sabine asks.
"Tuesday." Tom replied.
"Figures…"
Marinette ran up the stairs to her room. When she got there, she found…herself? Another Marinette sat there, looking through her sketchbook. The two Marinettes looked at each other. Both blinked. Marinette (our Marinette) spoke up: "Who are you?"
"I'm…Not real? I'm all in your head. You are dreaming?" the other Marinette said (Calling her Marinother for now) as she flailed her limbs, nearly dropping the sketchbook, before clumsily catching it and putting it back on her desk.
Marinette had a look of 'Really?' on her face. "I know I am a bad liar but I thought I could come up with something better then that."
Marinother sighed. "Fine. I'm you. From another world…another dimension. One day this weird portal appeared and now I am stranded in your world. I didn't know what to do so I just sought out this version of my parents' bakery and figure out what to do from there."
"That I can understand, we just had to deal with a few other things those portals brought into our world. Some really weird Sentimonsters." Marinette said.
"I checked the news. You really got a good thing going on. You got a big team, Hawkmoth is apparently defeated and your fashion career is taking off quite nicely. I mean that jacket…" Marinother pointed at an unfinished jacket on a mannequin. "In my world I only had this as a concept."
"Oh? Er…Thank you?" Marinette said.
"I really mean it. I am…honestly used to be so overworked that I could not get anything I wanted done, that you were able to realize this…" she said as she pointed at the jacket. She looked at it. She smiled, but it was strained. Like she hid sadness. Marinette knew that look.
"Don't you have anyone to help you out, lighten your workload?" Marinette asked. It was a good question, because now Marinette wasn't as shy to ask for help instead of trying to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders.
"Not really no." Marinother said. Her smile was even more strained, but there was nothing sad about it. It was rather angry. "Say, you are doing so well for yourself, I wonder if I could learn a few tricks from you. Like how you keep your teammates in line…" Marinother said.
"What?" Marinette asked.
"Lead, I mean lead! Silly me, I'm so clumsy." Marinother said. Her strained smile now honestly starts to worry Marinette.
"I just asked for help. From others." Marinette noted.
"From who? From them?" Marinother said angrily as she looked at the class photos. "From that dumb cat? How have they ever helped you?"
"You do not talk about my friends and my kitty that way!" Marinette snapped. "I don't know what it is like in your world, but I have always been able to count on them. Even when I was being a stubborn idiot."
"Oh, I am so sorry, I just…had a really bad day before ended up in this dimension. Please don't take what I say too seriously. In fact I think it is great that you and your friends are so close." Marinother said. That strained smile was still there.
"There is something you are not telling me." Marinette said. "Don't try to deceive me. I know from myself how bad a liar I am."
Marinother sighed. "Fine! I have no more world to return to. I don't just want to learn your secrets, I need to borrow your Miraculous and the cat's. To bring it back, better than before."
"Yours doesn't cut it?" Marientte asked.
"No! It has been too…altered." The Marinother Ladybug said. "And I don't have Chat's ring. So the only way to succeed is to get the Miraculous from another world. I should have been fair and asked you in advance."
"I'm sorry but there are things that make me doubt you a little. You said 'bring it back better'. It means you are not restoring it to its original form. If that is, it wouldn't be the world you left behind, but a world you create for yourself. You plan to play god. And that is not something that I can allow. Because power that is absolute is also what absolutely corrupts" Marinette noted.
"I can handle it. I have handled it on my own. I had to because unlike you and your perfect world, everyone turned their backs on me." Marinother growled. "You don't know true suffering." Marinother was engulfed with red oily energy that reminded Ladybug slightly of an Akuma. After it died down, the other Marinette stood there, now in a Ladybug suit, only it was black with red dots. "But you will if you don't give me your earrings."
"Very well. Tikki, Spots on!" With that Marinette transformed into Ladybug. "I understand that you are not going to use the wish selflessly. You are not a worthy Ladybug!"
"I haven't been Ladybug in ages. I am Miss Fortune." The other Marinette reintroduced herself. She pulled out her own yo-yo. "And I will get the Miraculous. Or I can just get rid of you and live your life here, you got it all. Adrien, a team, victory, actual recognition and no one to backstab."
"Something tells me the problem is not them, but you!" Ladybug said. Miss Fortune gritted her teeth and charged at Ladybug, tackling her and sending them both through the trap door, rolling and wrestling down the stair until they got in the living room. Tom and Sabine witnessed it, looking shocked.
"She's a fake, get out of here!" Ladybug said, having her counterpart in a chokehold, while Miss Fortune pulled her pigtails. Tom and Sabine did as told, and bolted out.
Ladybug and Miss Fortune wrestled before they broke apart, and stood aimed towards each other again, their yo-yo's spinning. "You are really a messed up version of me." Ladybug mocked.
"I am better then you!" Miss Fortune said as they charged at each other again.
Adrien was just casually strolling home. Not casually, he still had his privacy coat, because he had still fangirls and haters whom would harass him on the streets. But he had a tiring day, and wanted to relax with is godfather at home. However, he saw something from the corner of his sharp eyes and turned his head and saw a black blur in the form of…no, that couldn't be. Maybe he was seeing things. But you don't get to be a hero by being reckless. Ok, he was pretty reckless but he wasn't stupid. "Save the remaining cheese a bit, Plagg because we are going on a detour. Claws out!" He whispered as he ducked into an alleyway, transformed and jumped onto the rooftops as Chat.
And it was true, he saw a black blur across the rooftops. He now knew it was not his imagination and chased it. It went in a direction that was familiar to Adrien but it didn't settle in since he focused on keeping up with the black blur. He bounded off roofs and ran as fast as his legs would carry him. Only when he saw the black blur stop and slowed down he took in the surroundings. They were on top of a building that overlooked the Agreste Mansion.
It was still on lockdown, with a security team and doctors going around the place, and a few other people; The person in black overlooking it solemnly. Chat got closer to the person, trying to be sneaky, but stepping on something on the roof that made a crackling sound. The other person in black turned around. And Chat saw him…another Chat Noir.
Chat and Otherchat looked at each other confused. They both stepped towards each other, in perfect synch. They made an identical face. First frowning then pulling back looking shocked. Both raised their hand and their finger and pointed at each other and nearly touching. They both pulled back. Both put their finger on their cheek, looking pensive. "You are me?" Chat asked.
"Pretty much." Otherchat said. "Or a version of you."
"Your world…so you came here through those portal thingies?" Chat asked.
"By accident." Otherchat said. "Though things didn't turn out so well for me in my world." He looked around and stared at the mansion. "Our mother…?"
"Is waiting to be cured, alongside Nathalie." Chat replied. But she lives.
"And Ladybug?" Otherchat asked.
"Working hard to train her healing powers, and being the most awesome girlfriend ever." Chat added.
"I can't deny that. I finally found her in my world and then…my father. I learned he was Hawkmoth, he tried to threaten her, to akumatize her, sacrifice my happiness for his goals. I learned what they were. And to a degree I would have understood it. But he kept it from me, isolated me, and when I confronted him, he kicked and beat me around." Otherchat said. "The result of the fight afterwards…well, I had nothing left."
"I…I am so sorry to hear." Chat Noir said.
"It's ok. You are lucky, you know?" Otherchat said. "They are still around. Whatever confrontation you had with your Gabriel, it clearly didn't expose you." He looked at his ring. "I only got this, but I can't take it off…and it will not work the way I want it to."
"I…don't know what to say. I wish I knew what to say that would make you feel better but it is hard to…" Chat said.
"It's ok. You don't have to say anything. But there is a way you can help." Otherchat turned around. "My ring will not work properly, but yours will. And her earrings too."
"I can't give you those. I don't even know if they work for other worlds, but the price that has to be paid would also be too big; You may even destroy another world." Chat Noir said.
"I have done that once, I think I would be able to live with it." Otherchat said as his glamor went down and instead turned into a white suited version of himself, with equally white hair, pale skin and light blue eyes. "By the way, call me Chat Blanc."
Chat Noir knew that he no longer could afford sympathy to his counterpart. "What happened to you?"
"Like I said, father happened. Though he did more then beat me. He thought he could control me. He failed. Though I couldn't control myself as well. I am the reason my world is gone, but I'll be the reason it is back!" He said as his eyes glowed.
"And I will not be the reason my world will be destroyed because I will stop you. No innocents will suffer!" Chat said as he readied his baton.
"Then be disappointed, there are no innocents in the world." Chat Blanc pulled out his own baton.
"Gabriel has clearly gotten to you in more ways then one. That is something that he'd do. He would deem any action necessary and acceptable to get what he wants. Not what is best for others, for only himself. I don't pretend to understand your suffering, because it is not like I know what it is like to lose a whole world. But you think that everyone in another world deserves to die so yours can live? Can your mother forgive you if you had turned into another Gabriel and that the cost of her return are human lives?" Chat Noir growled.
Chat Blanc stared at his counterpart. "I…" he had no words.
"You are clearly not well. It seems that Gabriel…hawkmoth did a lot more damage to you. But it can still be fixed. He is no longer around. He doesn't control the Akuma anymore. He doesn't tell you what to do. Carve your own path, you don't have to do what he does. Make a choice."
"What can I choose, if I have nowhere to go?" Chat Blanc asked.
"I don't know. But I want to help. I don't know how yet but I want to try. There are a few smart people of the team whom can lend a solution. I mean we recently took in another person whom had lost everything. It could work for you." Chat Noir said as he reached out his hand.
Chat Blanc looked at his hand. He raised his own hand. It appears he was about to shake it. But then he slapped Chat Noir's hand away, shocking the black clad hero. "I'm sorry, but the 'we could' and 'maybe' isn't enough. I want to go by the option that gives me certainty." Chat Blanc said.
He wasn't mad. He just felt…sad, disappointed. He wanted to give his other self a chance. A choice that was offered to Gabriel, but he didn't take it. And neither did Chat Blanc. He charged at his counterpart and the two locked staffs as they tried to push each other back. "You've really have become like your father. And like him, you have to be stopped."
"Then let's see whom can win. One whom has nothing left to lose, or one that has everything to lose." Chat Blanc said. As they clashed, it was clear a real catfight was now on the heroes' hands.
Chloé hummed to herself as she returned to her room in her father's hotel. She had been busy adjusting her make up in the bathroom as she walked out. She wanted to sit down on her bed and check her social media messages, as she suddenly found something missing. "Where's the picture?" It was a picture of her first date with Luka.
"Looking for this?" a voice said from behind her. Chloé turned around to see…herself? Though it was with her old outfit, her old make up regime and her old scowl. "Man, you really let your standards sink." Okay, the doppelganger now sounded like her old self. "Whom is he supposed to be? Jagged Stone Jr.?" she said as she threw the picture out.
Luckily, our Chloé managed to catch the picture before it hit the floor. "When I think I can put the past remind me I am always painfully reminded of past transgressions." She muttered to herself. She then spoke up, to the other Chloé. "All right, who are you missy?"
"I thought you were supposed to be smart, because you are me!" Chloé 2 noted.
"I used to be you, something I regret mind you." Chloé noted. "Let me guess, you were spat out by one of those anomaly portals, and it has a sick sense of humor to get a brat copy of myself here."
"Brat copy? I am the superior version. While you…you have wasted your life. You so easily gave up on Adrikins, having become a good two shoes doormat? Forgotten what it is like to remind those peasants whom is the real princess of Paris and they should worship and adore you?" Chloé 2 said with a mean smirk.
"Urgh! Seeing your overuse of makeup is bad enough (I can't believe I used to think that looked good on me) but the bullcrap you spout is making me sick." Chloé noted. "For your info, I am still close to Adrien, but it was not meant to be. I accepted that and moved on. I also accepted a lot of things about myself, and make me come to terms with it. So that I could move forward with my life." Chloé said.
"You could have lived your life to the best!" Chloé 2 said. "But right now, you have nothing."
"Me? Nothing? I have a family, one that truly cared, with all toxic influences cut from my life; I have friends, teammates whom have my back. I have love. It is not the riches and the emptiness and the superficial that made me rich, it is the love and support I gained. I am living my best life. While yours is empty." Chloé shot back.
Chloé 2 looked at her, almost looking thoughtful. Like the words hit hard. But that soon changed as her evil scowl returned. "Well…Shows what you know! Who needs those so called friends. I am the princess of Paris, everyone gets to worship me, I have the Bee Miraculous!"
"So do I!" Chloé said as she pointed at her own. "Power is all you crave, but you have not thought whether or not you can use it proper or if you are deserving. I still feel I may not be, but others but myself believe in me, and that's good enough."
The second Chloé looked about to explode, but she got distracted as she now noticed her other self's comb. "Wait…you are still wearing the comb? But you defeated those monsters. She let you keep it?" Chloé 2 asked angrily.
"Er…yes?" Chloé asked like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "You paid attention earlier right? Was my attention span that bad back then?"
Chloé 2 went red with anger. "It's not fair, I had the comb. But whenever I asked for it back, Ladybug tried to deny me each and every time. What do you have that I don't?"
"You want a list, you Mean Girl stereotype? Since you have clearly forgotten what I told you earlier, I can write it down if you haven't grown illiterate." Chloé replied.
"You have thrown away all the things that could have made you great. I see Mom is no longer around…" Chloé 2 ranted.
"She was a bitch and was not good for our mental health…" Chloé replied.
"Gave up on pursuing Adrikins…"
"He is like my brother and we still are close. Besides Luka is a sweet guy."
"You even got the Miraculous but you don't even bother demand acknowledgement and recognition, to let them know Chloé Bourgeois is the one to save the day?"
"One, I am not the only one to save the day, I got a team. Second, there is more to this hero stuff then looking good, but it's about doing the right thing. Third, why would I let the world know my identity, do you know how dangerous that is?"
"Stop mouthing off to me!" Chloé2 shouted.
"Stop saying stupid stuff and I'll stop!" Chloé shot back.
"Ugh, never mind. You are clearly a failed version of me. I am so disappointed with you. You could have been so amazing, so dazzling, like moi. But you have utterly wasted everything." Chloé2 shot up and posed.
"I was about to say the same for you." Chloé replied. "Seriously, the universe doesn't center around you, you blonde bimbo."
"A shame, I thought that my other self and I would have made a good team. You can't beat the original sure, but to be this much of a disappointment. I don't need your Miraculous for what I have in store, but having twice the bee power would make me twice as exceptional." Chloé2 said.
"I think you are twice as ridiculous, utterly ridiculous." Chloé scoffed.
"Oh, snark all you want! But while you are merely a Queen Bee…" Chloé2 transformed. She resembled Queen Wasp, but with some added armored parts with a honeycomb motif. "I am the Miracle Queen!"
"That's just Queen Wasp with added extras. Seriously, did they run out of creativity when designing you?" Chloé asked.
"Joke while you can. But soon you will be under my control!" Miracle Queen summoned several oversized wasps.
"Pollen, Buzz On!" With that Chloé turned into Queen Bee. The Wasps came towards her. She raised her hands. "Stop!" Her compulsion worked and the wasps stopped in their tracks.
"What the…" Miracle Queen said, dumbfounded.
"You and I share a power source, we are both wielders of the Bee. And it is clear that you don't have unlocked all its secrets since you didn't see this one coming. With my powers and will, I have as much control of these bad boys as you." Queen Bee explained.
"Fine." Miracle Queen said as she waved her hands and the wasps disappeared. "Then I'll rip you apart with my bare hands!"
"Bring it, bitch!" Queen Bee said. Both pulled out their trompos and they charged at each other.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I wanted this chapter to include all evil counterparts Multiversity summoned, but it got long.
But yeah, like you can see, they are clearly counterparts of the heroes from a world where they didn't turn out as heroic as this fanfic counterparts.
