11 Second Encounter
Dani frowned as she glanced around. She'd knocked the dragon out of the sky, sent him flying actually. She was starting to seriously wonder just how strong her ghost form was. But the dragon had disappeared again, and this time a ghost hadn't taken its place. In fact, her ghost sense wasn't going off at all. She shook her head and zipped through the air away from the school. She jerked in the air as she felt something vibrate in her belt. She frowned. She'd completely forgotten that the hazmat suits had pockets upon pockets. She reached into the pocket and found her cellphone, which she knew she'd had in her pocket when she transformed back in the lab. She shook her head as she glanced at the caller ID. It was Sam, she debated for another ring before answering.
"Hey Sam."
"Dani, I thought I heard something happening outside. You ok?" Dani frowned, slowing as she flew over Amity Park.
"You at the school?" Dani asked perching in the upper branches in a tree on the edge of the park near the outskirts of town.
"Yeah. I am, I was in the library. I was doing a bit of research on that dragon ghost you went up against." She nodded looking out over the park.
"Yeah, that was the noise you heard. It showed back up, but the ghost guy didn't." Dani said, sounding a little confused. She heard Sam make a noise of confirmation.
"I got a bit worried about that, which was why I was doing research. What I found was mostly about that amulet. It's apparently called the Amulet of Aragon." Dani heard Sam flipping through a few papers. "According to the legends the wearer of this amulet will transform into a ferocious dragon when under states of emotional duress or anger." Dani nodded slightly.
"Yeah ok. But that doesn't explain why the dragon was babbling about two different things when it showed up. First time with the greasy old medieval ghost he was ranting on about a bride. This time he was babbling about a ball. And the ghost didn't show."
"It doesn't say if the dragon transformation is exclusive to ghosts. In theory anyone who's wearing the amulet would be affected. But there's more, the amulet apparently shifts its appearance to the person wearing it. The only consistent is the jewel which is said to look like a dragons eye. Honestly it sounds pretty cool, if it weren't for you know turning into an uncontrollable dragon whenever you get angry." Sam chuckled. Dani laughed but sobered quickly.
"So if the ghost is still in the Zone, and I couldn't sense the dragon after I threw it, then that means that it's a regular person wearing the amulet." She reasoned.
"Yeah, probably. I'm gonna loop Tanya in on all of this in a minute but I wanted to apologize about lunch today." Dani shrugged.
"It's fine, who I'm going to the dance with is quickly becoming the least of my problems thanks to this stupid dragon and the fact that I sort of possessed my dad into agreeing to chaperone the dance and he doesn't remember that at all." Sam swore.
"Shit. That's a problem." Dani shook her head, taking back off from her branch and heading off through the town, up high enough that it would be nearly impossible to see her clearly.
"We need to be looking for that amulet. It could literally be anyone wearing it." Sam hummed in agreement.
"As long as they were at the mall during the first attack. You said you knocked the amulet off the ghost guy, then it probably fell into the food court." Dani swooped down, going invisible as she did and swooping into her window. Dani double checked that her door was closed before turning back into herself.
"Maybe Tanya can hack into the surveillance equipment, narrow down the list." Dani could practically hear Sam nodding.
"It should probably worry us more that she's capable of doing that." Sam said and Dani shrugged.
"I learned how to handle a welding torch at twelve it's not that weird Sam." Sam laughed.
"Seriously though about today I'm sorry." Sam said again and Dani shook her head.
"Nah it's cool Sam. I was pretty surprised that Dash asked me too. I honestly wasn't expecting anyone to ask me to the dance." Sam shook his head.
"Well that's silly. You're a fantastic person Dani." Sam was glad Dani couldn't see the blush on his face.
"Well you're one of the only people who thinks that these days. I'm pretty sure Lancer thinks I have brain damage from my accident." Dani said with a sigh Sam hissed in sympathy.
"Seriously?"
"Well he never said it outright but it was implied. Speaking of school though I need to get that paper done for Tetslaff or I'm gonna be in even more trouble." Sam laughed and said his goodbyes before Dani hung up and headed downstairs in search of something to eat while she finished her homework.
Dash wasn't having the best day. He'd won the first part of the bet, getting Fenton to agree to go to the dance with him. But he was still working on the second part of the bet, and how best to stage it. He needed Vince and Kwan to see it, though Kwan had flat out refused to take picture for the bet. Then at practice the coach had gotten after him about his grades. He didn't remember much after that. Just waking up not too far from the field, feeling like he'd gotten his ass kicked. At some point the dragon eye watch he'd found with his suit had fallen off. He found it not too far away in the grass. The clasp was open, he frowned and slipped it back on.
Kwan came running up to him later babbling about the dragon from the mall being back but Dash hadn't seen anything. He shrugged.
