Author's Note: Ok seriously, there's a lot that happens to Poindexter and I go into some detail about his death, it's brutal. You've been warned. I own nothing.

16 Discovery

Finding out that the big scary ghost that was hunting her was just a tiny blob in a suit made Dani laugh but her other discovery for the day stirred up quite a bit of attention. Apparently due to a clerical error at the Zoo where 'Sampson' had been born she had accidentally been swapped with one of her brothers, who had not survived infancy. It turned out that 'Sampson' was actually Delilah, something that brought a lot of attention to the Amity Park Zoo as now there was a shot at prolonging the life of this nearly extinct species. Connie, the reporter from Genius Magazine, ran a full piece in the magazine about the discovery and the intrepid youngster who'd made it, her words not Dani's. But it cooled Jazz off about Dani snubbing the reporter earlier. Unfortunately it didn't get her off the hook entirely.

"I can't believe no one at that Zoo bothered to check if it was a boy or a girl." Lancer said shaking his head. He looked up at Dani who was standing at his desk. "I will say this though, this is definitely the first time someone's risked being mauled for a better grade." He handed her back her paper.

"A C plus! I almost get murdered by a gho…rilla and all I get is a C?" Dani was indignant.

"Next time try the library Miss Fenton." Lancer said gathering his things and heading out. Dani turned to Sam and Tanya who were waiting for her in the empty classroom. "Oh this is just not fair!" She griped and Sam patted her on the shoulder.

"Well I mean it pulls your grade up, and the Zoo's promised to name one of Delilah's babies after you once they get the other gorilla here." Dani rolled her eyes.

"Somehow doesn't make me feel all that much better." A plume of blue emerged from her mouth and she looked around eyes narrowing.

"I am the Box Ghost! And once I empty you of your useless papers, your marvelous squareness shall be mine!" The Box Ghost proclaimed over a box of old papers. Dani grinned as lights flashed and she transformed.

"This might make me feel better though." She said with a smirk. Tanya snorted.

"You have five minutes."

"Won't need more than two."

A week later found Dani alone at Dash's end of year bash. She felt thoroughly ridiculous. Dash had invited her because he wanted Jazz there, Jazz who had not come, instead opting for heading to the library to be away from their parents while their dad tried to figure out who had taken the stuff Dani had sold to buy the outfit she was currently making a fool of herself in. No one else was wearing anything like this, Dash had apparently changed the dress code and neglected to tell her. Kwan had been surprisingly sympathetic but she could hear everyone else laughing behind her back. She should have just skipped out on this to hang with Sam and Tanya. After all it would have been the first time in their long friendship that Dani had been over to Sam's house. She shook her head turning to head back down the stairs from the bathroom and just leave with what little dignity she had left when her ghost sense went off.

Technus had somehow reconstituted himself around the things he'd exploded onto in the lab and now he was bigger and badder than ever and handing Dani her ass on a USB drive. It wasn't until Sam and Tanya showed up that the tide turned. Tanya got through the backdoor of the program and shut Technus down, letting Dani finish off the creep by sucking him into the Fenton thermos. She apologized profusely to Sam and Tanya who were gracious enough to help her drag all the tech back to the shed before her parents got home. They were all exhausted after that, not bothering to head back to Sam's, instead crashing at Fenton Works. They woke up the next morning and Sam treated them to breakfast on their way to school.

The final week of school finally rolled around, but Sam had a bit of a bone to pick with the bio final. Dissecting frogs, which was pretty normal, but Sam was determined to change that. When the Box Ghost showed back up and started a fight with Dani she wound up buried under the costumes from the upcoming school play, somehow ending up in a corset and wig in front of the whole school. Plus the fight with the Box Ghost had trashed her locker so she was assigned a new one.

"What's so scary about locker 724?" Dani asked as Tanya pulled out her PDA.

"I can't believe you've never heard the legend of Sidney Poindexter. He was a nerd here at Casper High in the fifties. Like prototypical nerd, picking on him was supposedly an unspoken graduation requirement. Locker 724 was his, but the story get's a lot darker. His senior year rolls around and the poor guy goes missing for three days. Well that's what they thought anyway, until someone noticed the smell coming from his locker about a week later. Turned out he'd gotten shoved in his locker and banged his head on a nail, that was hanging up this old mirror. Hard enough that if he'd lived he'd have been brain damaged. But no one bothered to look for him. He actually ended up bleeding out in that locker." Tanya said pulling up the old obituary. Dani shook her head.

"Shit." She swore under her breath. Tanya nodded continuing as Dani scrolled through the obituary.

"Yeah. Legend has it that his death was so traumatic that his spirit has haunted that locker ever since, looking for justice. See because everyone picked on him, no one was ever arrested for his death. A few people were questioned but no one was ever sure who did it." Tanya finished as they made it to the locker in question. It certainly looked like it was haunted, though the lockers around it were nice and painted this one was flaking and rusted. Dani spun in the combination she'd been given, half expecting her ghost sense to go off. But it didn't, the locker opened without a problem. The inside was empty but for a few cobwebs and a circular mirror that hung at the back of the locker. Tanya swore, eyes going wide.

"Holy shit! The legend is true!" Dani frowned though. The mirror was clean, though the nail that held it up could be said to be discolored. If that was with time or something else no one could tell at this point. But the mirror was spotless, no tarnish or rust. Nothing. Dani frowned, running a finger over the mirror. It wasn't even dusty.

"You'd think someone would have taken this down." But before she could say more something was slapped onto her head.

"You forgot something Fenton!" It was Paulina, she'd shoved the wig Dani had been humiliated in onto her head. She growled under her breath. What she wouldn't give for some payback against the bully. She yanked the wig off, slamming her new locker shut before she could see the green swirls building in the mirror.
