Chapter.3: Overhaul

•••

Time passed, and for quite some time I didn't see Ochaco.

Can't say I wasn't curious, but I had other things I needed to focus on, like finding a school for Eri to attend, now that her Quirk was beginning to show up at a faster rate than before, she needed education on how to develop it safely.

As time passed by, and my eighteenth began approaching, I got more desperate in my attempts to find somewhere for her to attend.

On my way back from work about three days from my eighteenth I was taking the train from Gifu Prefecture back to Mie Prefecture.

"Excuse me" I heard what sounded like a man to the side of me.

I turned round to see a man with black slacks, shoes, and a black white-buttoned shirt with pulled up sleeves, that had bushy 'feather-like' shoulder pads.

He also had a white belt around his waist, with white suspenders.

I most definitely recall his short dark brown hair and his gold coloured eyes, although his most notable feature would be his black, red and yellow 'plague-doctor' mask.

I remember instinctively blinking once before saying "yeah?"

He responded in kind before asking me if the seat next to me was taken.

I simply told him no and offered it to him, which he accepted in turn.

He told me to let me know if sitting next to me disturbed me in any way, and that he would happily move if that was the case.

I told him that it was fine, then asked why he thought it would disturb me.

That's when he told me that he was the current head of both the Shie Hassaikai and the Yakuza!

That's when I realised what he meant by 'disturbed', but I followed up by saying that it's still fine.

And so the train ride went on, at some point we got into a more in-depth conversation.

I found out that his name was: Kai Chisaki, although he didn't really like it so he went by the name of his Quirk usually: Overhaul.

He also said that he had two close friends within his organisations: Tenko Shimura and Geten, who went by: Tomura and Iceman respectively.

In return, I told him my name: Izuku Midoriya, however I didn't really have a nickname, or any childhood friends really, the closest thing I had that resembled a friendship was my relationship with the Mr. and Mrs.Uraraka, maybe their daughter, but most definitely my little sister.

He said he was sorry that my childhood didn't allow for many bonds to be forged, but in some ways, that in itself could be a blessing in disguise.

I asked him what he meant by that, which he then replied: "Well now you'll be sure to put more effort in forging those bonds, no matter the relationship, you'll put more value in the relationships you make from now on."

As we reached Mie Prefecture station I got up to leave, when Overhaul turned to ask: "oh by the way, I forgot to ask, what Quirks do you and your sister possess?"

That's when I replied: "Well I'm actually Quirkless, but Eri on the other hand, well, we're not exactly sure what to call it yet, but she can cause living things to return to a previous state."

Overhaul looked like he was thinking, before saying "Well how about, say: Rewind?"

I perked up after that saying "Rewind, yeah, that's great."

Overhaul replied with "well keep your head up, and see you soon."

I waved goodbye as the train left and began my journey back home.

When I saw Eri I let her know all about my conversation with Overhaul and his suggestion for the name of her Quirk, which she accepted right off the bat.

Funny thing is, I just couldn't stop feeling as if I'd somehow heard his voice somewhere before, I just didn't know where.

Both me and Eri were the happiest we'd been in years, however, we'd soon have both our futures changed drastically in three days.

Three days went by, and finally, my eighteenth birthday had come, so to start with, for the first time in a long time, I took a day off work to take Eri to officiate her last name as: Midoriya.

Once that was done we took a train to the Gifu Prefecture to get something to eat, she enjoyed it, but my true intention was to bring her to the burial site of her parents, which was our next stop.

I explained where we were, and although a little hesitant at first, as soon as I told her that I'd be by her side no matter what happens, she decided to go in without holding my hand, she really was braver than I was.

As we walked up to her parents' graves, I recalled that day, when I rescued Eri, for some reason the moment of me being quiet because of the Villains above us kept coming to mind.

Eri began crying at her mother and father's gravesites.

I went to comfort her, even though she was Seven, I was still her elder brother.

That's when she told me that it's ok, that even though she's sad that she'll never get to meet her mom and dad or make any memories with them, it's fine, because she's still got me, and she knows that I'll never leave her alone.

I simply smiled and hugged her and said: "yeah, I'm not gonna go anywhere, I promise."

"Oh I don't know about that" came a voice from behind me.

This voice, I know it!

That was the thought running through my mind as the cogs in my head began turning!

I bit my lip, not enough to make it bleed, but just enough to hide fear with pain!

This was the voice of the Villain who killed Eri's parents!

I stood up.

This was the voice of the man on the train!

I turned around to face him.

This was: Overhaul!

I asked him what he was doing here.

He replied by saying he'd come for Eri.

"Eri, I need you to run," I said intensely.

"Wh-why?!" she desperately replied with tears in her eyes "y-you said you w-wouldn't leave me, y-you promised!"

I squinted trying to think of a reasonable answer, before saying "don't worry, your big brother's gonna be just fine, now go."

"N-no! I won't go without you!" Eri shouted back at me.

"Oh my, oh my, lying to your little sister now, shame on you" Overhaul began "you really are quite a terrible brother Midoriya, truly detestable."

I don't know why what he said angered me so much, but still, I shouted back at Overhaul "what did you say?!"

"Well" the young head began again "first you lie about promising to be by her side no matter what, then lying about being fine when we both know you're without power."

"But since I'm not getting through to you, take the girl Iceman."

I remember my eyes widening as ice shot from all directions, knocking me to the ground and catching Eri, encasing her in ice as she screamed out for my help!

That's when I saw the person he spoke about on the train.

-Name: Geten-

-Villain Name: Iceman-

-Quirk: Ice Manipulation-

(He can basically manipulate ice so long as there's a water source nearby.)

Geten was wearing a long blue overcoat, with a white bushy hood trim, blue snow jeans, and blue boots with a white bushy top trim.

His hair and eyebrows were pure white and his eyes were a piercing icy shade of blue.

"Thank you Iceman" Chisaki said to him upon landing, "don't mention it" Geten replied.

"You know I really should thank you Midoriya," Overhaul began "it's thanks to you that I finally have a way to make my dream a reality, after all, I've always had suspicions about Eri's Quirk from since she was born, it's why I went to get her all those years ago, it's actually why I sat next to you on the train that day, probably would've just had to painfully wait till she got older and displayed her Quirk more before taking her if you hadn't told me what her Quirk was."

I felt like there was a great big lump in my throat, he was taking her because of me?!

I told him what he needed to know!

And now Eri was in danger!

Because I decided to make a stupid decision!

The two Villains before me began to walk away with Eri!

"Oh right" Chisaki began "you went to officiate her name as Eri Midoriya today didn't you?"

"Well consider me sparing your Quirkless life as my birthday gift to you" Chisaki said in a condescending manner "happy birthday, Izuku Midoriya."

Suddenly, as if on instant alone, I got to my feet and ran towards this monster fuelled by my own blood curdling rage and leapt off with my right leg while reaching out for him with my left arm while screaming his name "CHISAKI!!!"

But in that moment of absolute anger, I heard the ice behind me break and footsteps start charging at me from behind!

Then my worldview started slanting, then something flew upward past my face followed by some kind of strange red liquid and what looked like dust, and then I hit the ground.

As I landed, someone else landed in front of me.

I couldn't see who it was nor hear what they were saying anymore, and as the red liquid began seeping into my eyes, I tried rubbing it off with my arm, only, I couldn't move my right arm!

And my left arm had a feeling of nothing and absolute unrelenting pain coming from it!

My right leg also had the exact same feeling as my left arm!

While my left leg was just as immovable as my right arm!

I couldn't even scream, it felt as if I didn't have the energy to scream!

That's when I noticed it, just before my vision went fuzzy I saw what looked to be my dismembered left hand laying there slowly decaying away to dust!

That's when I realised that what flew by my face was my hand!

Somehow it had gotten dismembered!

That meant the red liquid in my eyes was my own blood!

As tears mixed with my own blood rolled down my eyes, as my world went dark I simply mouthed: "E…ri…".

I woke up to what felt like years later in what seemed to be some sort of blizzard, so I stood up and tried to warm myself up with my hands.

That's when I noticed them, my arms and legs were attached, more than that, they were perfectly healed, with the difference being that some kind of strange black smoke with a dark crimson tint was emanating from where my hand had been dismembered from my arm!

It was also emanating from where my arm had been dismembered from my body!

And it was emanating from where my leg had been dismembered from my body too!

And as I looked up to the sky to see swirling clouds made of the black smoke with the dark crimson tint, I thought to myself: "just where am I?"
