The next day at school did not start out promisingly. Everyone had upped their game, doing their best to show up in Ember's fashion, not just her merch. Tanya was wearing a skillfully styled blue wig. Even Paulina had added blue to her precious hair, but it was Paulina who, shortly after lunch, gave them the information they needed.

"Hey! Ember's gonna be at Bucky's music store in an hour to give away free tickets to her concert!" She called out to the hall before spotting Tanya and grinning. "Nice hair!" It even sounded genuine. Dani seized hold of Tanya's arm as she made to rush off with the others. Sam frowned.

"We need to deprogram her." Dani nodded keeping a hold on Tanya, which wasn't as hard as she thought it would be, then again she had thrown a full grown dragon before, a skinny teen wasn't too difficult.

"Yeah but how?" Dani asked.

"With the antithesis of pop music. Come on." Dani dragged Tanya down the hall as she insisted she needed to get to the music store to get her hands on those tickets. Sam led them into a classroom where one of the Cramtastic machines they were supposed to be using to study for the upcoming test was. It was Tetslaff's classroom just off the gym so while Dani dragged Tanya to the chair Sam retrieved several jump-ropes from the closet and tied her down to the chair. Dani stepped over to the front of the classroom.

"What do we think? Math, science, English or oooh! Comprehensive review, that'll work." Dani said sticking the disk into the machine and flicking the on switch. Sam nodded.

"This is where the healing starts." He stated as Dani stepped back over to them. She nodded.

"Come on we need to get the thermos out of my locker. We can come get her once we've got Ember on lockdown." Sam nodded and they made their way into the empty hallways. Dani was frowning though, Sam gently bumped her shoulder with his.

"What's wrong?" He asked and Dani shook her head glancing around before sticking her arm through her locker door and fishing out the thermos.

"I'm just wondering why neither of us has been effected by Ember's music." Sam shrugged. It was a legitimate question though.

"Probably because of your ghost powers and my…"

"Individuality and intelligence?" Dani interjected. Sam blinked, blushing slightly.

"I was gonna say utter distain for anything popular but… You really think I'm smart?" He asked and Dani's face went bright red. They were interrupted by Lancer seizing both of their wrists. He'd looked better, it looked as though he'd been run over by the students on their way out of the school.

"I don't care if you lovebirds are the only students left in the school you are getting an education." Dani glanced at Sam as Lancer dragged them to his classroom. She held out her hand and Sam took it. The sensation was odd, had been from the get go but Sam wasn't sure he'd ever get used to it. But it was like the tingle that happened when a limb fell asleep all over. He couldn't help but wonder if Dani felt like that too. They landed out back of the school, becoming visible once again. Dani glanced around before she transformed into Phantom and held out a hand to Sam. He took it and suddenly it felt like gravity just stopped working. She'd clipped her thermos to her belt and looped her arm around his waist.

They hadn't gone flying before, it was something so completely new. He'd been in a plane before and it was almost like the feeling of liftoff continuously. Looking out over Amity Park made his stomach dip and his grip tightened where his arm was looped around Dani. She glanced over at him and grinned. He blinked. The midday sunlight turned her currently white hair silver, the light seeming to catch in her neon green eyes and stay trapped there. Her braid danced out behind her head without a care for the breeze around them, seeming to have a gravity of its own.

"You ok?" Dani asked and Sam blinked trying to remember how words worked.

"Yeah, this is nice, flying's nice." He managed and she grinned not seeming to notice his slip.

"It really is." Her smile downright glowed. He couldn't help bur smile back. That was until they struck something and dropped out of the sky. Dani caught him, flipping them so he landed on top of her, letting her take the brunt of the fall.

"Falling stinks." Sam intoned rubbing his head and looking up to see what they had collided with. It was a massive likeness of Ember that had been erected on the top of Bucky's music store. Dani checked him over before pulling them both to their feet and phasing through the roof. Inside the music store Ember stood on a raised stage above the crowd which was chanting her name.

"We love you Ember!" Dani thought that might be Dash's voice. She frowned, unhooking the thermos from her belt.

"Something tells me they aren't gonna love seeing their favorite pop star sucked into the Fenton Thermos." She pointed out and Sam grinned.

"I can distract them, just set me on that cutout." He pointed and Dani nodded. This one was identical to the one on the roof, Sam pulled a marker out of his pocket and drew a pair of glasses and buck teeth on the cutout.

"Check it out it's Ember McLame!" Sam didn't see what happened next. He saw Ember get knocked off her feet, then the cutout he was clinging to shook. Glancing down he spotted Kwan and Dash looking angrily up at him. He was distracted again when he heard Dani cry out. A soft thump caught his attention and he spotted the Fenton Thermos catch on the cutout he was clinging to. Ember cackled, vanishing in a swirl of blue fire. Dani needed the thermos. Sam gritted his teeth and took a chance, leaping from one side of the cutout to the other. He nearly slipped but grabbed the thermos and caught his footing. He was just close enough to the balcony stage to risk jumping. He hooked the thermos on his belt and took a deep breath leaping for the balcony. He caught the railing and pulled himself up as the crowd below went wild. None of them really seemed to understand what was going on, they had gone back to chanting Ember's name, maybe hoping that she would come back if they chanted loudly enough. Sam caught his breath and took off down the stage, surprised at the lack of security. But the screaming from the roof told him where to go. He slammed open the roof access door and found the cutout they'd crashed into had fallen. Dani sat dazed on the roof, nearly hidden between the legs of the cutout. She was back to herself. Sam felt his heart drop.

"Get away from her!" Sam said running forward without really thinking. Ember laughed.

"Aw teen love." She quipped as Dani pulled herself up slightly rubbing her head. "It never really lasts." She said a bit bitterly but then she grinned. "But nothing distracts teens like hormones! And I need you distracted for the next eight hours! And the best part is that now their chanting my name my music can affect you!" She spun a dial on her guitar. "How about a love song!" She cried out and struck the chords. Sam saw a flash of pink and the force of whatever she had done knocked in through the air. He skidded to a halt on the torso of the cutout blinking. He didn't feel any different. Dani was shaking her head but Ember was laughing again.

"Thank me later Baby-pop! I'll leave the new couple alone!" Cackling she vanished in another swirl of blue fire. Sam glanced over the edge of the cutout his stomach seemed to have dropped the four stories to the ground.

"What was she talking about, new couple." Dani had turned to look at him but something was wrong with her eyes. He couldn't quite make out what it was. She pulled herself to her feet and stepped up onto the cutout. Sam frowned. "Dani? Now would be a really good time to go ghost and fly me out of here." She didn't transform, instead taking another step forward.

"Wow, you look great when you're about to fall off a building, have I ever told you that before?" She spoke but her voice was far away and dreamy and it was then that Sam figured out what was wrong with her. There was a sheen of pink over the blue in her eyes, nearly turning them purple in the late afternoon light. Ember's spell had worked and it looked like it was about to end the both of them as Dani took another step forward and the cutout wobbled.
