Kim stepped back as an angry looking man with pure white hair slammed the door and strode up to her.

"HEY! Just who do ya think you are, human? You've got a LOT of nerve trying to summon the Great Mammon!"

He got right in her face, and gave a wicked smile. "Since I'm feeling generous, I'll make you a one time only offer. You give me all your money, and in exchange, I won't eat ya! Totally fair, I know, but you should hurry, because I could use a snack."

Kim's eyes were wide, but she wisely stayed quiet. Since everyone keeps mentioning eating me, it's safe to assume that is actually a thing demons do…

"Mammon, shut up or I'll punch you," Lucifer threatened with a smirk. Then he struck out, and gave Mammon what looked like a mild tap, but that sent him scuttling back a few paces.

"GAH, OW! Hey what's the big idea, Lucifer? You're supposed to give me a chance to shut up before punching me!" Mammon whined, rubbing the spot on his chest.

"Kimberly," Satan called from his chair, since he was the closest to her. "Mammon here is the Avatar of Greed. He governs and oversees all forms of it."

Kim looked over to the newcomer again noting that he wore the same uniform, but it looked disheveled. His jacket was open, his shirt wasn't tucked in, and his tie was loose with the top two buttons on his shirt open.

She didn't understand why, but that made her feel more comfortable towards him than any of the others, and she hoped that mindset didn't get her eaten. She looked up into Mammon's face, and gave him a timid smile, even as he frowned at her.

"Whenever Mammon takes a liking to someone, they suddenly find themselves awash in money," Satan continued. "Although, I hear the opposite is true as well, and if he breaks ties with someone, the wealth disappears and they are left without a Grimm."

Kim looked over to him. "Grimm?"

Mammon rolled his eyes, and heaved a sigh of annoyance. "No money then," he grumbled.

"The important thing to note about Mammon, is that he is also a masochist," Asmodeus added with a laugh, as Mammon bristled.

"True," Lucifer added as he went back to his seat. "And it just so happens that I have a job for my masochist of a brother."

"All right, y'all stop telling lies!" Mammon shouted. "I ain't asked for that punch, and I AIN'T a masochist!"

Lucifer kept speaking as if Mammon hadn't, and Kim just observed the family dynamic. It seems like Lucifer doesn't like any of them, but Asmodeus is treating Mammon badly as well, though he is the second oldest? Nothing here makes sense…

"Mammon, you are going to be in charge of seeing to this human's needs during the whole exchange," Lucifer ordered. "I expect your full cooperation."

"WHAT?!" Mammon reared back in horror. "Why me?!"

"Aww, lucky you Mammon…" Asmodeus cooed, as he examined his nails. "I'm soo jealous."

Mammon whirled to him with a snarl. "If you're so jealous, why don't YOU do it then, Asmo?!"

"Are you kidding?" Asmodeus sneered. "I think not."

Kim rubbed her forehead, wishing she could just disappear. It was so awkward listening to them all argue about who would have watch over her.

"Just give up Mammon," Satan said in a bored tone. "There's no getting out of this." He seemed to relax back into his chair. "You know you can't refuse a direct command from Lucifer, correct?"

"I'm just saying, it shouldn't me be!" Mammon continued to argue. "What about Beel? Why can't he do it?!"

"Oh sure," Asmo laughed in response. "We may as well just ask him to eat the human."

Kim glanced over to the avatar of gluttony, and saw him wipe a little drool from his lips. "Mm, yeah," Beel answered with a shrug. "I can't promise that I wouldn't." Kim scooted a little further away, just in case he tried to do it anyway.

"You're useless, you know that?!" Mammon replied, and Kim frowned at the callous remark. She was wondering if she should take her chances with the other exchange students, because it didn't sound like she would enjoy her time with these guys either.

"Mammon?" Lucifer interrupted, seemingly kind.

"...W-what?" Mammon asked, timidly.

Kim took another few steps back, as something seemed to surround Lucifer, an aura that screamed at her to run, and when she looked at Mammon, he was wincing.

"Surely you're not going to tell me that you object to this arrangement that we've made, are you?" Lucifer asked, his voice like honey, and his eyes alight with fire. Kim could swear that they seemed to be red.

"Ugh," Mammon answered, sagging in defeat. "I hate you guys! Every last one of ya!" Lucifer merely looked at him in question, waiting for what he wanted to hear. "Fine… FINE! I'll do it okay?!"

Mammon turned and stomped back to Kim, who was still trying to get further away from both Lucifer and Beelzebub. "All right human, listen up," he grumbled to her through gritted teeth.

"This is a huge pain in the ass, and I'm way too important for this kind of thing, but Lucifer didn't exactly give me a choice, so here we are." He looked her up and down, and sighed again. "So you better make sure you don't cause me any trouble, got it?!" he demanded as he pointed at her.

Kim was listening… absolutely. The problem was, as much as he was trying to intimidate her, she felt a thousand times better, knowing she was going to stick with him, and not the others. She looked into his eyes, almost expecting the same fire, but found them to be bright blue, ringed with gold. They were quite pretty, and she just stared, not responding.

"Hello? Earth to human!" Mammon said, snapping her out of it. He turned to look behind him to the others. "Seriously, what's wrong with this one…?" he asked, annoyed.

Lucifer chuckled, and gestured them to come back towards the table. Mammon pulled Kim over by the arm, and though she tried to resist, it didn't seem to help at all. In fact, he didn't even notice, as he moved her easily, and she worried about his superhuman strength.

"Now that we've chosen someone to watch over you, Kimberly, the next subject to discuss is your tasks," Lucifer said. Kim looked at him warily, noting that while the burning fire was gone from his eyes, they still looked red- like embers.

She swallowed, and hesitantly asked, "tasks?"

"Yes," he replied. "Your main task is to polish up your soul nicely, and to acquire the power to resist demons." He smirked at her, and she looked at him warily.

"Let me put it a way you can understand," he said. "Nice souls look like shiny jewels, and if they are too shiny, it puts demons off. Demons will use their knowledge and abilities to tempt the humans so they can get their hands on tarnished souls.

"Demons here at RAD also have tasks, just like you. So in other words, either you humans will be tempted by demons, or demons will lose against the shiny and noble soul of a human and make a run for it." His smirk went into a wide smile. "You could say that this is an experiment to find out who will win."

She didn't really want to know, but she couldn't stop herself from asking. "And if I lose?"

"There is no penalty set. Would you like me to think of one for you?" he asked. The smile he gave her seemed genuine this time, as if he were excited at the thought, and she frowned at him. "There, there, don't give me that look," he added.

"So it's two humans against all the demons?" she asked, overwhelmed.

"Don't take it so seriously," he continued. "You won't have to do this alone, remember? After all it wouldn't be fair, since you don't have magic like the other exchange student from the human world."

"Wait, what?!" she blurted.

"AND SO," he spoke over her outburst, "my brothers and I will lend our power to you, and you alone."

He held out his hand, and after a moment she understood and put the D.D.D. into it. He turned it to face her, and showed her an app called "Nightmare".

"This is where you can call on our power if needed, though you cannot summon all of the stored power at once," he explained. "So be careful in your selections. Everything else you need to know will be explained later."

He handed the phone back and crossed his arms. "You will begin against the lesser-most demons, and work your way up- with our assistance, and what you learn in school. And when your exchange period is over, you will write a paper about your stay here."

"I want to make one thing clear, right now," Mammon interrupted. "Don't blame me if someone gets eaten, 'cause it ain't my fault."

A loud roar echoed in the room, and Kim looked around in shock.

Everyone else turned to Beelzebub. "Lucifer, I'm hungry," he complained.

"Are we absolutely sure this isn't a dream?" Kim asked, though she knew it wasn't.

"You are certainly free to believe that if you'd like," Diavolo finally spoke again, now that Lucifer was done. "However, I should probably go ahead and make one thing clear now."

She swallowed the fear back, as he walked towards her. He was frowning, and it didn't bode well for her.

He stopped several feet in front of her, but she still had to look up to him. "This isn't the sort of dream that you'll be able to wake yourself from," he said, then gave her a smile.

She suddenly felt relief, though she had no idea why. Maybe just because someone had finally given her a straight answer. "Okay," she replied with a nod.

He looked up at the windows, though he kept speaking. "Humans, angels, demons… I imagine a universe where each accepts the other. Where we are brought together as friends." He looked back at her. "This is my dream, and I am asking you to be the foundation for it."

He gave another smile, and she could easily understand why he was the leader here. He had such charisma. "One year, is what I am asking." He turned and held out his hand for hers, and after a brief hesitation, she gave hers. "Good luck, Kimberly," he said, giving her hand a squeeze.

The walk from the school wasn't overtly long, it just seemed that way because Mammon ignored her, and spent the entire time grumbling about his misfortune. Kim decided not to take offense, she may have felt the same, if the situation was reversed.

Though it was difficult when he started grumbling about her specifically.

"...Okay?!"

She had effectively tuned him out as she examined the streets and paths that they took, wanting to remember how to get back to the school if needed. As far as she knew, Mammon would look after her, but who knew what he might do in accidentally trying to get rid of her?

Hearing him ask her something, she looked up, and did a sudden stop. He was glaring at her, and she had almost walked right into him. She needed to pay better attention. "I'm sorry, what?" she asked.

His eyes narrowed on her. "I said, I only agreed to this because… well why doesn't matter! Just don't go thinkin' that I'm scared of Lucifer or anything, because I'm not!"

"Okay," she replied, wondering what was up with him. It was obvious from the beginning that he was scared of Lucifer, who is he trying to fool? And who wouldn't be scared of him?!

"Oh, come on!" he snapped, as he turned back around and stomped off again, Kim rushing to follow. "Even if you weren't listening, ya could at least pretend like you were! Everyone listens to THE Mammon, got it?!"

"Okay," she said again, not wanting to antagonize him.

He stopped outside a huge mansion, that looked exactly like one she would see in an old horror movie. "This is the House of Lamentation," he told her, as he opened the gate.

"This is your house?" she asked, looking up as they went closer.

"That's right," he replied. "Though technically it is one of the school dorms, but it's only for student council members, and we don't let anyone else stay here… usually."

"It's awesome," she said as they walked up the steps. She almost expected the steps or the door to creak, but neither did. In fact, everything looked immaculate- no spider webs anywhere.

"We're demons, not monsters," Mammon said with a smirk.

"Was I that obvious?" she asked, feeling embarrassed.

"I've had a few dealings with humans," he said sounding bored as he turned and opened the door, letting her in the hall. "You're all the same."

She didn't like the sound of that, but let it go as she examined the house. There were two staircases on the left and right, with huge gargoyle statues at the base. Expensive looking paintings covered the walls, and while everything looked like antiques, it all gleamed.

"It's impressive," she said, not hiding the awe in her voice.

"Only the best for the best," he said, not looking at her. "My brothers may give me a hard time, call me scum- whatever- but I'm a student council officer, same as them. The elite of the elite, the top of the social pyramid at RAD."

She wasn't sure that he meant to tell her all of that, but she stayed quiet anyway. It was nice to get to know something about him.

He turned to her with a grin. "In other words, I'm a real big shot. Like even other big shots are impressed by what a big shot I am." He glared at her again. "So don't go thinkin' that I'm just some ordinary demon. I'm nothin' like those other peons walking the halls at school."

"So you brothers make up the council, and Diavolo is the head of it?" Kim asked, making sure she understood the hierarchy.

"That's right," he answered. "Diavolo is even MORE of a big shot. He's so important that he's got his own castle. Which is why he doesn't live here with us."

"I saw it, it's really amazing," she said.

"Anyway," he said, rolling his eyes, and she figured the bonding moment was over. "It's time I showed you to your room."

She started following him, and her eyes caught on a bulletin board, like she had seen in her own college dorm. She started reading some of the ads, finding them confusing, but amusing.

He got her attention as he grabbed her arm. "Hey, don't just stand there with your jaw open. Hurry up, or I'm going to just leave ya behind, and you'll have to live in the hall."

"I was just looking at that job listing," she replied.

"If you want to know about that, you just read the flyer," he snapped.

"What do you think I was doing?!" she said, exasperated.

"Well, you can look at it later, if that's what ya want," he replied, continuing to pull her past the stairs. "Though you can just look at it on your D.D.D."

"Wait, what? I can?" she asked.

"Didn't they explain anythin'?" he griped, finally stopping for a moment. "There's an app called jobs in there. Just look at it in there, if ya want a job so bad."

"I figure I'll need some money at some point. Or what did you call it? Grins?"

"GRIMM," he replied, enunciating the "m" more than necessary. He looked down at her for a moment, realizing that this new assignment was going to be harder than he thought, since this human had no concept of the danger she was in. What kind of idiot is she, thinkin' she can just go get a job?!

So, he'd have to take a moment, and get it into her head now, before she was killed, and Lucifer took it out on him. "I'm gonna give ya a piece of advice, so listen close, human."

She glanced up at him, then looked back down at the phone trying to open the phone's app.

"If you wanna survive even a day here in the Devildom, you'd better listen REAL close," he repeated, covering the phone with his hand.

"I'm listening," she said, finally making eye contact, and keeping it.

"If it ever looks like a demon is going to attack you…" he said, and she stepped back, looking scared, and he was glad that she was getting it. "Run away," he continued. "It's either that, or die."

"Wait… are the demons around here going to attack me?" she asked, her eyes boring into his.

"Not everyone has the control that we do," he replied, trying to make his point. "And not everyone supports Diavolo's plan, ya got it?" he asked. She nodded, but that wasn't good enough. If the human acted stupid, and was killed, it would be HIS hide.

"So if you get attacked…?" he quizzed.

"Run away," she replied. "I'm guessing to either here, or the school?" she asked.

"Yeah, that would do it, though if you go to the school, you want to go to the council room, not just anywhere," he said, nodding. "Because if you don't?" he asked.

"I'll… uh, die."

He nodded again, glad to have that done with. "That's right. And it's my unlucky job to make sure that doesn't happen, so no dyin' got it?!"

"YOU should be the one to die, Mammon!"

Kim wasn't proud of hiding behind Mammon, but they had just been talking about her getting attacked, so she was tense. She peeked out from behind him as he held a hand to his chest.

"What's the matter with you, Levi?!" he demanded. "Why ya sneakin' up on me like that?!"

Kim took a moment, as her heart rate returned to normal, to examine the guy that had snuck up on them. He was dressed similarly to Mammon, the uniform with a dark purple tie that was loosely hanging on his neck. His shirt had the top few buttons undone, though his jacket had one buttoned that helped keep it from flapping behind him as Mammon's did.

She looked up to his face, and fell in love with his hair. It was about the same length as Mammon's but there was a lot more of it, and in fact looked like he could use a trim, because it was covering his eyes.

She looked a little closer, and was surprised when his eyes- that weren't as covered as she thought - met hers, then quickly looked away. She smiled, and could imagine that he brushed the hair out of his face enough times to have it sweeping across his eyebrows just enough so that he could see out. She remembered what that was like, when she had been growing out her bangs.

It was actually a pretty popular style, even if it could use some shaping. However what had her staring, was that it was an amazing shade between blue and purple, and she immediately wished hers was the same color, instead of the dark brown she had.

She had no idea if it was natural- I mean, what constitutes natural for a demon?!- but it didn't look like a dye job.

Mammon took a step away, as she was still practically hiding behind him, and spoke to her.

"Uh- listen up human! This here is Leviathan, the Avatar of Envy, and the third oldest of us brothers. Since his name's sorta hard to say, you can just call him Levi, because you'll piss him off if you say it wrong!" He clapped his hands together and started to move away. "Okay then, let's move on."

Leviathan glared, and stood firmly in Mammon's way. "Mammon, give me back my money. Then go crawl into a hole and die."

"Come on, I already said I'd get it back to you! I just can't right now. And you still want me to die, even after I give it back? That's harsh Levi!" Mammon replied, looking pitiful.

"A little more time?" Levi asked, not willing to accept the answer. "How much more, exactly?" he demanded.

"A little more, okay?!" Mammon sighed in exasperation. "A little more means a little more!"

"You've been saying that for the last 200 years, Mammon!"

Kim scoffed to herself, thinking this guy had an exaggeration problem, until Mammon snapped at him. "Hey, get it right! It's been 260 years!"

"Unbelievable," Leviathan sighed as he rolled his eyes, and Kim couldn't help but agree, though she knew it was for different reasons. "Mammon, you're so…"

Mammon grit his teeth and squared his shoulders, and Kim could see that his hands were in fists at his sides. "I'm what?" he demanded softly, which sounded infinitely more dangerous. "Scum? Is that what you were going to say?"

"I was thinking a lowlife, and a waste of space, but scum works too," Levi answered scornfully.

"That's even worse!" Mammon complained.

"Whatever, just give me my money," Levi said. "I need it to by the Blu-ray boxed set of Journey to the Devildom: The Tale of a Little She-Devil and Her Reluctant Companion."

Long title, but could be interesting, Kim thought. I wonder if that sort of thing could give me some idea of what it's like to live here…

"I'll see what I can do," Mammon said, dismissing him.

"No!" Levi put his hand up, stopping Mammon in his tracks. "The initial release includes promotional tickets to a live event as a bonus!"

Mammon pushed Levi's hand away, and then threw his hands up. "I have no idea what you're even talkin' about, Levi, but it doesn't matter! I don't have any money. So how am I supposed to give back money I don't have, huh?!"

"I see," Levi's eyes glared daggers at his older brother. "So you're telling me that you refuse to pay me back?"

Mammon leaned in, his eyes lighting up, and a smirk on his face. "You looking for a fight, is that it?" he asked.

Kim had nothing against Levi, and could sympathize with his situation. Jon was constantly loaning money to his friends, and as far as she knew, they never saw any of it back. But, she saw a chance to endear herself to Mammon, and since he was the one that was watching out for her, she thought it wise to try.

"It's not Mammon's fault actually," she spoke up, her throat going dry when both of them turned to look at her, and she finally got a glimpse of Levi's eyes. They reminded her of the sun, they looked so orange, and she felt jealous yet again. "Lucifer has him running around today for me, so he couldn't do anything else."

Mammon gave a smirk, and Kim thought, mission accomplished! but Levi just stared at her, then finally back at his brother.

"What's the deal with this… human you've got here?" he asked, as if he had just noticed that Mammon wasn't alone. "She your newest sponsor or something?" his tone suggested that he didn't actually care about the answer.

"Wha?" Mammon asked, then burst out laughing. "I'd need someone rich enough to support me," he replied, and looking at Kim, got a calculating look in his eye. "Though now that I think about it… I'm pretty sure this one likes to collect the same stuff that you do. I'd bet you'd just kill to have some of her stuff."

He wiggled his eyebrows at Levi. "You know what I'm talkin' about… like those things you always buy. You know… the whatcha call 'em."

"Figurines," Levi said, and Kim's eyes lit up, though she was unsure how Mammon knew she and Jon collected figurines. She was pretty sure she hadn't mentioned it.

"Yeah, those!"

Kim found herself being scrutinized by Levi. Seriously, one minute his eyes look so bright, and the next like a dragon's eyes or something. Either way, seriously cool.

"So… you collect figurines then?" Levi asked her.

"Yeah…" she answered defensively, since he seemed unhappy about talking to her.

"Which ones?" he asked, then his curiosity got the better of him. "Ooh, do you have any of the main characters from Battle Princess Brigade? Or Girls Only, or Diamond Dust?

"My husband has most of them from Girls Only," she replied with a smile. "But mine are from One Piece or Demon Slay-" she cut herself off, thinking that would be the wrong thing to say, "you know… from animes."

He positively beamed at her, as he started yelling in his excitement. "OH, NO WAY! NO WAAAAY! You're so lucky! Ugh, the human world sounds so amazing and I'm soooooo jealous!"

Kim grinned, feeling his excitement rubbing off on her. She felt like she had met a kindred spirit. Just as suddenly as he started, Levi stopped, and looked at her in surprise.

"Wait!" he said, freezing in place. "You have got to be kidding me."

"Uh… no?" she said, uncertain what got in to him.

"Not you!" he said, frowning again as he looked around. "That ass Mammon, ran off!" He closed his eyes, and sighed. "You do realize what happened, right? Mammon used you as a distraction to get away from me… or I should say, he used you as a sacrifice."

He glared at her again, and she wondered why he was blaming her. "Mammon is the epitome of a scumbag, but still, that was really dumb to let him use you like that." He sighed hugely, and Kim glared at him. "This is EXACTLY why humans are-"

He stopped, and Kim put her hands on her hips, having had enough of being insulted. "Oh don't stop now," she said crossly. "Humans are what?"

"That's the thing, isn't it?" he asked, smiling a wicked looking smile as his eyes lit up. "So, you're free right now, right? Of course you are, you've gotta be."

"What? No, Mammon's supposed to be showing me where my room is," she answered.

He glanced behind him, and turned back to her. "Never mind that," he replied. "You're coming with me."

A little jingle had both of them stopping, looking at the other.

"You gonna check that?" he asked her.

"That wasn't mine," she replied, frowning, as she pulled her phone out of her back pocket to check it, just in case.

"It came from you," he said, giving her a skeptical look.

She patted herself, and felt the other phone in her other back pocket. "Oh, right, that new one Lucifer gave me," she muttered as she pulled it out.

Opening the D.D.D. she saw she had a new message, so she clicked on the icon. Apparently, the pictures were uploaded automatically with their contact info, as a picture of Mammon trying to look suave was saying how he suddenly had business to attend to, and if she needed anything to ask Levi.

He also had the nerve to send her a winking emoji, though it was a little devil, not the regular yellow face emoji. What does that say about me, that all it took to not get really upset was a little winking devil? she wondered.

The device jingled again, and he warned her not to say anything to Lucifer, and sent a picture of a bird in a hoodie that was giving a death stare.

She quickly found the sticker, and sent the same one back to him.

His response was the same bird, looking nervous, and she cracked a smile. Does that bird have three feet? she thought, as she looked closer at the picture. Whatever, something to ask about later.

She put the phone back in her pocket, making a mental note to change the notification sound, so she'd recognize it as hers. She looked up as Levi's hand waved in front of her face.

"Hey, come on," he said, gesturing her forward. She gave a sigh, then reached down for her bag, throwing it over her shoulder, and following after him. Following him seemed a better idea than wandering the halls.

"Look," Kim said, as she let her bag crash to the ground. "I get that you all don't think much of humans, that is abundantly clear." She tried not to get distracted… the room was a fan boy's wet dream, but she had to say what was on her mind.

"But you didn't have to act like having me in your room is against the law," she continued. "I'm more than happy to go to my own room you know!"

"Are you serious?!" he retorted. "Just imagine what would happen if someone saw ME, letting a HUMAN into my room?! And a NORMIE on top of that?!"

"What are you worried about here?" Kim asked, exasperated. "That your brothers will gossip about us or something?"

She froze as he put his hand up in front of his face, but she could see the pink on his cheeks, and wondered what was happening. "Of… of c-c-c… of c-c-course not!" he stammered. "Th... th-that's crazy!" He looked over to a wall of posters and figurines that appeared to all be of the same character. "There's only room in my heart for one, and I'll always stay faithful to my dear, sweet Ruri-chan, always!"

When he turned back to her, she could see the blush was gone, and he seemed upset. "Why would people gossip?!" he insisted. "I mean, me and some… non-otaku- normie?! And not only that, a 3D one from the real world?! That's insane, LOL!"

He started laughing a loud, forced laugh, and Kim was thinking that wasn't the only thing that was insane, as she looked away from him. The guy was truly an otaku- that much she understood easily.

She found herself checking out the room. It was really cool, as rooms go. One wall was a giant fish tank, which was amazing! Another wall, held a gaming center- and by the look of it, Levi gamed on his PC, because of the four monitors that he had sitting there, as well as the sound system that was hooked up. Kim couldn't help being envious, it was quite the set up.

If she had unlimited funds, her own game room might look somewhat similar, with the exception of the fish tank. Though she did think it brought a cool ambiance to the room. She wondered if he actually fit in the bathtub that was piled with blankets and pillows in the middle of the room. He seemed to be too tall to fit in comfortably, so she had a mental picture of him curled up in the fetal position, sleeping in the bathtub, and gave a smile.

She turned again, seeing the third wall was one giant bookcase, just like in a library. She could tell that he was ruthlessly organized, as it was sectioned off between his books, manga, games, and movies. Figurines lined the top shelves, and acted as the bookends in between the differing media.

"Hey, human!"

His voice penetrated her thoughts, and she looked back at Levi's blank face. "What are you looking at?" He followed her line of sight, and got practically giddy.

"The Tale of the Seven Lords!" he practically squealed. "Are you a fan of that too?!"

"No, sorry," she replied. "I know I've heard of it, but I haven't read it."

The shocked look, she was expecting, and at this point, the insults weren't a surprise either. But when Levi said he was going to take an hour and give a crash course on all things TSL, it was a jolt. Then, he actually did it.

The most surprising thing of all, was that this was apparently a story from the human world, and was popular enough to have 138 volumes, an animated series, and made into a movie not once, but twice.

The strangest thing of all, was that as Levi was describing the lords in the series, she had the weirdest sensation of deja vu.

She had finally sat down during the course of Levi's lecture, but he had kept her attention- he was just so darned invested in the story. She could tell that he really loved it, the way he would get so excited, just talking about it.

Then, he suddenly became morose. He complained about how humans had it so good, giving examples of things like cosplaying, Japanese Maid Cafes, and some other tourist attractions around the world. He kept going on and on, his wish list becoming more and more unattainable, until he exclaimed that he just wanted to be Henry, the hero of TSL.

He was panting, having worked himself up, and Kim wasn't sure what to say to him, so she just stuck with the truth. "I'm… afraid that's not really possible…" she said tactfully.

He sighed, and crashed down to the floor in front of her. "I know that," he replied sadly. "But, I'm free to fantasize about whatever I want, aren't I?" he continued panting softly. "Guess I've talked too much… my throat hurts."

"Maybe," she agreed, giving a tentative smile. "But it was informative."

He rolled his eyes, and shook his head. "This is starting to depress me now," he replied. "And anyway, I didn't bring you here to talk about TSL."

"You didn't?" she asked, in mock shock. "Are you sure?"

"No," he replied seriously. "I didn't."

"Okay…" she said.

"I think it's obvious, even to you, human, that Mammon is a complete and utter scumbag," he said, causing Kim to frown.

"Dude, seriously, you don't think that's a little harsh?" she asked, giving him an incredulous look.

"It's the truth," he replied, glaring at her, "and you know it."

"No, I don't," she answered, feeling bad for Mammon. "I can't believe you all are so mean to him. Is this seriously because he owes you money?" she asked.

His face went blank, and he stood. "Apparently you need convincing," he said as he pulled out his own D.D.D and his fingers started flying over the keys. He waited a few moments, and with a ding, he went back to looking at the device.

"Come on then," he said, as he cracked open the door, and looked in every direction before shuffling her out into the hall.

"Where?" she asked, not liking how pushy he could be.

"Your room," he answered. "I had to find out which one it was," he explained, as he walked off.

"Oh, well thanks!" she responded happily, excited that she could finally get some time to herself.

She followed him down the hallway, looking around so that she could find her way without a guide the next time- she hoped.

They passed by the stairs that they had come up originally, and she felt buoyed by that. She should be able to find her way to the door tomorrow, so she could walk to the school with Mammon.

Levi stopped at a door to what looked like a corner bedroom. He turned the knob to open it, and then stepped back.

"This is your room," he said. "We'll talk again once you see for yourself." He turned and began walking away. "I give it two days," he shot over his shoulder as he walked off.

Kim watched him go, uncertainly, until she realized that he was talking about Mammon still, and had given her two days to find out that he was a scumbag. She frowned after him, not believing that brothers could act so callously.

True, Mammon had used a bluff to run away and leave her, but still…

Kim decided to let it go for the moment, and she went into the room, and closed the door behind her. Alone at last… she thought as she leaned back against the door, and stopped short as she looked around.

It had normal things one might find in a bedroom, such as a dresser, a bed, and a desk. But there was so much more.

As she looked at the bed, her mouth fell open in shock. There was a tree. An actual, literal tree, standing in her room. She looked down at the floor, and couldn't tell where the tree and floor met. It seemed like it was growing out of the floorboards.

Not only that, but the head and foot of the bed were made of twisting and gnarled branches. It might have been creepy if it weren't so beautiful.

Finally able to look away from the bed and all its splendor, she noticed that she had a table big enough to seat six, a desk that was practically another table- it was so spacious, and several bookshelves, already filled with books. Upon closer inspection, they looked like they were picked out for her, as most were books she was familiar with from home.

There were also several rugs and pillows spread on the floor in front of a large TV. She smiled, grateful that she had brought her Switch, and could play some games in her downtime.

The last, and possibly best surprise came when she found the adjoining bathroom. It wasn't overly large, but had a small shower, and she immediately decided the next step was a long, hot shower.

She correctly assumed that hot water wouldn't be a problem down here, and was happy to find that she was correct. She took a long shower, just reveling in the hot water.

Finally coming back into the room, she changed into her pajamas of shorts and tank top, and pulled out her phone. She tried calling, and texting Jon, but there was no service. Hopefully Diavolo would keep his word, and find a way for her to stay in touch. She'd have to ask about it in the morning.

It had just been one of the longest days of her life, and there were 364 more to go before she could go home.

With the thought that she would organize her belongs the next day, she flopped down on the bed, and immediately fell asleep.
