Bakugo's face was still frozen. The voice he'd heard echoed inside his head even though it wasn't speaking. His arms were shaking. Alright. First were the amber eyes. They were creepy enough as is. But a menacing voice on top of that? Bakugo was strong, but he wasn't sure if he could stay sane too long after this voice had entered his brain. Maybe he did need therapy like his mother had always told him.
Katuski scanned the rooftops again. The eyes had vanished, but he still felt a cold feeling. Like they were still staring straight into his soul. He could almost bet his life on the assumption that the eyes and voice were connected. The eyes might be able to communicate with him while they were staring at him. Or someone could have a creepy telepathy Quirk. Or was it Deku's soul coming back to haunt him? He quickly shook his head. For one, Deku had green eyes. Two, he'd most likely never have the guts or the heart to do that to anyone, even the cause of his death. Thirdly, the voice sounded nothing like Deku. Izuku had a high-pitched, annoying voice. This voice sounded like an adult's; deep and resonating.
He glanced over his shoulder to see another girl with orange hair approaching him.
"Hey. I just wanted to say thanks for trying to save Uraraka." Bakugo looked mildly surprised. Did she know Uraraka? Were they sisters? He decided no, this girl's hair was bright orange and her eyes were a blueish-green.
"Y-yeah." Bakugo's voiced cracked, and he cleared his throat. "Yeah. It's no problem. Not like I did anything, anyway." He glanced away.
"But you tried," she persisted. "I thought that we might have been good friends... She seemed so sweet, and I thought we might have been in the same class together." Bakugo nodded mutely.
"Well... yeah." The girl looked concerned, but she backed off. He obviously wasn't going to talk much.
"I'll see you around, then. You did a great job. Name's Itsuka Kendo, by the way." She turned and walked off.
"Bakugo," he called after her. She paused for a moment, nodded, then continued on without turning around.
A few minutes passed as Katsuki stared at the ground, thinking. A loud voice jolted him out of his reverie.
"Attention all U.A. Entrance Exam participants: Due to an emergency, all students must report back to the main auditorium, where we the accepted students will be revealed... I repeat, all students must report back to the main auditorium, accepted students will be revealed... Thank you." The speaker clicked off, and Bakugo turned his feet to head back.
The walk out of the exam was longer than the speedy entrance. His steps were slow and automatic like a programmed robot. He eventually made it out, though, where a few of the teachers were waiting. They were directing the remaining kids trickling out of the test to the main building. Bakugo was swallowed into the stream and headed back subconsciously.
Only when he sat down in his seat did he snap out of his thoughts. His eyes were locked on the scoreboard. His name, Katsuki Bakugo, was written in blocky letters at the top.
1. Katsuki Bakugo: 77
2. Tenya Iida: 52
3. Yosetsu Awase: 50
4. Testutetsu Testsutetsu: 49
5. Fumikage Tokoyami: 47
6. Eijiro Kirishima: 39
7. Ibara Shiozaki: 36
8. Itsuka Kendo: 25
9. Jurota Shishida: 23
10. Mashirao Ojiro: 21
Bakugo narrowed his eyes. So, that Itsuka Kendo had managed to place 8th. As the board scrolled down, he spotted a few other names he'd heard in snippets of conversation. Mashirao Ojiro, Setsuna Tokage, Denki Kaminari...
They don't matter. Focus on you.
SHUT YOUR DAMN MOUTH OR I'LL BLAST YOU TO HELL! he thought fiercely. The voice just chuckled.
You can't threaten me, Bakugo. You don't even know who I am. Katsuki suddenly felt the presence leave his mind.
Bakugo shuddered. This was creepy. Way too creepy. The voice could hear his thoughts when it was inside his head.
He stood up as soon as the announcements were over and made a mad dash for the exit, ignoring the few kids that tried to stop and talk to him. He sprinted down the street blindly, his feet taking him to who knows where. When he finally halted, the sun was setting. Kacchan looked up and saw his school. His middle school. The place where Deku died.
For a moment he was tempted to hightail it out of there, but he stopped himself. He wanted to go to the backside of the school, see the place where Izuku had fallen. He jogged around the side, avoiding a few teachers leaving, but catching a few words of their conversation.
"-going to have to look into this a little more. This is getting creepy," the taller woman was saying. She wore a red woman's suit and white high heels. The other woman, a shorter and plumper lady with a frilly white and blue shirt and black pants nodded.
"Two missing students now. It's like a curse." The short woman shook her head, breaking away from the other woman and walking to her solid red Kia Stinger. Bakugo stayed crouched behind the pillar until both cars were out of sight. He then climbed over the fence and behind the school, glancing around. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just the plain old schoolyard. He turned back around, his eyes flicking over the back door.
He wanted to go in. There was bound to be something about the other missing girl inside.
Bakugo tested the door. Locked. He cursed and fired a tiny explosion, breaking the lock. The door creaked open and he stepped inside. It was dark with a little light filtering through the windows. A glowing red LED clock read 6:01 PM.
He headed for the one place he was sure he'd find some information. The school's large bulletin board, up in front of the office. It had all of the latest events and sports. Sure enough, he spotted the school newspaper's latest article: COINCIDENCE OR CURSED?
"Read the latest: Two students have disappeared under mysterious circumstances in less than a year. Last spring, Izuku Midoriya (14) disappeared one night after school. His last period teacher reported him having attended class, and multiple classmates can support his argument. His case since then has gone cold. Just last week, student Kanojo Korosareta (15) disappeared. She was last seen to be heading for the school restroom. No traces of these students were found. Police have resumed the investigation, and both students' parents await for discoveries."
So the other girl had disappeared the same way Deku had.
Connecting the dots, eh? Good for you. Bakugo huffed and turned away. The voice persisted.
Bakugo. I want to help you, not harm you. You'll find out what I mean soon enough.
He just ignored it, walking out of the school, but he could still feel its presence.
Leave me alone, Bakugo thought angrily. The voice let out a sighing noise.
As you wish, Katsuki. We'll meet again. This time he felt it disappear completely.
Turning around, he marched out of the back door.
Alrighty, another chapter finished! Sorry for the wait.
I debated whether or not to make this longer. Do you think I should have extended it?
