Katsuki laid awake in bed the entire night before his first day at UA, chatting on and off with the voice. He'd grown to trust it a little more in the few weeks before school started again. It turns out that he had a name, Akuto. No last names, just Akuto. He was a smart guy, to be honest. He spent the three weeks talking to him about what to expect, a few bits and pieces about the other students, and surprisingly a few genius Quirk techniques that Bakugo had never thought about trying. He was still working on polishing them up, though. What was best about Akuto was that he was useful, not annoying. It was a perfect balance, and Bakugo actually enjoyed his company.
Last night, though, Akuto had asked him an important question.
Bakugo, would you ever like to meet me in real life? he had asked. Bakugo had been a little surprised at the offer. I didn't think about that, he'd admitted. I suppose so. Is telepathy your Quirk?
Akuto chuckled. It's part of it, he'd answered vaguely, leaving Katsuki wanting to know more, but he didn't bother asking.
Do you know where I live?
Yes.
Well, that was a little freaky. Why exactly do you want to help me?
Because you have so much potential.
Do I know you in real life?
You might've heard of me.
This type of conversation had carried out through the night. A back-and-forth question and answer. Bakugo has learned a lot from him. They had a friend's relationship.
Kacchan sometimes suddenly thought, 'Hey, bastard' and Akuto would be there to flash back, 'Hey, asshat'.
One thing that Akuto had never revealed was his age. Bakugo kept asking, but he only replied, " How old do you think I am? or A billion years old. This was one of the only things about Akuto that annoyed him.
Akuto talked to him about what he should do at the beginning of the year now.
Bakugo, I suggest that you keep a distance from some of the other kids. It's not a great idea to interact with everyone. Keep to yourself but don't be rude. Use your skills without giving away all of your secrets. Got it? Katsuki nodded. Of course, your highness, he thought back sarcastically. Akuto laughed.
It's getting late- er, early- now. You should get some sleep. Bakugo shrugged.
I'll be fine.
You need strength. Here- There was a pause, and Bakugo felt warmth and energy spreading through his body. What did you do to me? he thought.
I gave you enough energy to last you a couple of days. You won't need to sleep until then. It'll give you time to train. Bakugo sat up, his weariness drained of him. He headed to the shower to get ready and put on the school-assigned shirt, pants, and jacket. It was terribly uncomfortable, and Akuto seemed to pick up on that.
Don't worry about it. You won't be wearing it all of the time.
How would you know? Did you go to UA? Akuto paused before answering, I know enough about it.
Another vague answer. Katsuki sighed exasperatedly.
You'll know in time, Akuto reassured him. When we truly meet, you'll know everything.
Then the presence faded from his mind.
Bakugo thumped down the stairs. His mother wasn't there like she usually was to scream at him about something or another. He noticed her keys were gone and figured she had gone out to the store. She always was darting off somewhere or another without telling anyone.
He grabbed a bag of Takis and shoveled them into his mouth while staring out the window. It was a bright and sunny day, his least favorite. Bakugo preferred thunderstorms.
When he had finished his 'breakfast', he grabbed his backpack and left. He closed and made sure to lock the door behind him, not wanting some amber-eyed freak to break in again and smear some kind of threat or creepy message on the windows.
By the time he'd gotten to school, the presence of Akuto had returned.
Ready? he asked. Bakugo shrugged. I guess, was all he said in reply. Akuto scoffed.
Oh, come on. You're going to be fine. Just remember what I told you: don't make strong bonds, strive to be the top of the class, show everyone else that you're the boss here.
Yes, yes, I remember. You've only told me that, what, a thousand times?
A heavy breath came from Akuto. All right. I'll be here if you need me.
Bakugo looked up at the school gates. 'U.A. HIGH SCHOOL' was built in bold yellow letters on the arch. The building was made out of shiny blue window-like panels. He couldn't quite tell if they were windows or walls, or both in disguise.
When Kacchan walked inside the building, it was chaos. New students were darting all over the place, asking for directions, looking for friends, chatting with older kids, and just plain standing there. He pushed through them all and strode down one of the semi-empty hallways to Class 1-A.
A blue-haired boy with glasses and a black-haired girl with a ponytail were already seated, and a pink-haired and skinned kid slipped through behind him. Bakugo chose a seat in the back of the classroom and propped his legs up on the desk in front of him, relaxing his head back. The nerdy-looking kid glanced at him then immediately stood up.
"Take your feet off of that desk right now!" he said firmly, eyes narrowed. Bakugo let out a sarcastic laugh. What an asshat. No one would order him around.
Akuro gave him a warning murmur. Don't be rude when the sensei walks in, he said.
I'm not stupid.
"Huuuh?" Katsuki said, furrowing his brow into a mocking expression.
"It's the first day and you're already disrespecting the academy by scuffing school property!" The boy moved his arm up and down from his elbow in an odd fashion. It irritated him.
"You're kidding me, right? Your old school put a stick up your ass, or were you born with it?"
The nerdy kid's face tightened with fury before he relaxed, seeming to think things through.
"Let's start over. I'm Tenya Iida from the Somae Private Academy."
"Somae, huh? So you must think you're better than me. I'm gonna have fun tearing you a new one," Bakugo shot back, mouth stretched into a sardonic smile. He wouldn't be pairing up with this kid in his time here, that was for sure.
Iida gasped, drawing back. "You would threaten me, your own classmate?! Are you sure that you're in the right place?"
"No shit, Somae."
Iida huffed in response. "I'm not going to carry on with this ridiculous conversation." He turned and marched back to his seat.
Katsuki kept his feet up on the seat. Tenya's scolding was pointless.
By now, the class was filled up with students and chattering. As the bell rang, a yellow inchworm thing crawled in. When it stood up at the front desk, Bakugo realized that it was a person.
"Who's that caterpillar freak?" Kacchan barked out, earning a few snickers. Tenya glared at him disapprovingly, and Bakugo flipped him the bird.
"Welcome to UA's Hero Course. I'm your teacher, Shota Aizawa," the caterpillar said in a monotone while giving Katsuki a nasty look. He brushed it off.
Aizawa unzipped the caterpillar suit, which looked like a sleeping bag now. "The first thing you kids need to learn is respect."
"And the first thing you need to learn is to go to bed at the right time," he jeered. Aizawa's eyes suddenly grew red and his hair floated up.
"Enough, Katsuki Bakugo," he said in a fierce voice, contrasting to his earlier tired voice. He closed his eyes, returning to normal.
"As I was saying," he began meaningfully. "You all need to learn respect." He cleared his throat. "Let's start the day easy. We'll be having introductions. As I previously stated, my name is Shota Aizawa, a.k.a. Eraserhead." He nodded to a blond French kid near the front. "We'll start with you, twinkle toes."
The kid stood up, flipping his hair. "My name is Yuga Aoyama! It's an absolute pleasure to meet you!" A few kids facepalmed. Bakugo just smirked. What an embarrassment.
The pink girl stood up next. "I'm Mina Ashido," she said shortly before plopping down.
"Tsuyu Asui."
"Tenya Iida!"
"Yosetsu Awase."
"Mashirao Ojiro."
"Denki Kaminari."
"Eijiro Kirishima!"
"Koji Koda..."
"Rikido Sato."
"Mezo Shoji."
"Kyoka Jiro."
"Hanta Sero!"
"Fumikage Tokoyami."
"Shoto Todoroki."
"Toru Hagakure!"
Now it was his turn. Great. "Hey extras, I'm Katsuki Bakugo. I'll beat you to a pulp by the time this year's through." The kids stared at him uncertainly as he plopped back down.
"Jurota Shishida!"
"Minoru Mineta."
"Momo Yaoyorozu."
When the list was finally finished, Aizawa headed for the door.
"Come on, class, we're heading out for a training exercise. Anyone who loses gets expelled."
I hope you enjoyed! Finally, a chapter without some freak staring at Bakugo and without death. Who knows what's next...
By the way, in case you didn't know, Awase and Shishida are not OCs. They're from the canon 1-B.
Akuto is also a canon character, but he doesn't go by that name. It's possible to find out who he is, if you use the little hints I dropped and something else...
