AN: Two failed attempts on making a Spin-Off for Operation Alexandria, and I decided to make my own take of Fantasy Blitzkrieg. This time though, there will be zero deaths due to the story premise being changed. You'll see why soon. Oh, and this happens before Return of Blitzkrieg Gensokyo, which I will rewrite in the future. And guess the co-writer for this story.
PROLOGUE
Recollection of Lighting War Opening
Date: January 10th, HS 2054/NG 2129
Location: Hakurei Shrine, Historia Gensokyo
It has been 48 years since the First Sengoku Gensokyo Tournament was declared by Yukari. Even though Makai, led by Shinki, abruptly attacked, they are routed by Gensokyo's united force led by Reimu, thus not only saving the realm, but also marks Reimu as the First Champion since she's the leader of Hakurei Army.
Right now, the local Dominion, Gensokyo Union Fighters, are preparing for another Sengoku Gensokyo Tournament. One would expect that it will go as usual, but this time, it will be special, since GUF Zen Captain, Yasei Sugaku, invited Summers Technology Industries to join as well. The purpose of this special Tournament is to strengthen STI following their defeat by the Unison Squad led by Richard Zhao Liu 4 years ago. Not only that, GUF is also interested to see if STI has what it takes to replicate Hakurei Army's success mentioned above.
"Well, I already sent the letter to LTC (Jack Summers). Now we just need to wait for their response. I'd surmise they will reply tomorrow."
The Zen Captain himself, Yasei, is currently on the site, watching the surroundings. He then closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. He has held his rank for 22 years now after all faction leaders in Gensokyo agreed to choose him after the First Gensokyo Great War. It also happened during 27th Sengoku Gensokyo Tournament, and it also involved abrupt invasion from another realm, except this time, it's Mutsuigeki Gensokyo, led by alternate Reimu (she wears white attire). They named themselves 'Clone Rebels Army'. After beating them, Yasei offered them a chance to join the then newly-formed GUF. Surprised by this act, but also grateful for it, this alternate Reimu decided to pledge her allegiance to him alongside the rest of CRA.
"Boy… That brings me back… First, Reimu managed to repel the Makai Invasion 48 years ago, and then I followed suit with CRA… Well, this time, it's LTC's turn to do the same. STI already showed what they're capable of 4 years ago, and we'll help them get stronger, as part of my promise to Joshua. Hopefully, HMF (Humanity Military Force) will receive a significant strength boost after this…"
*sigh* "And to think I even agree with this crazy idea of yours…"
Someone else speaks, prompting Yasei to turn around.
"... Oh, Reimu. Yeah, sorry about that. It's just that I-"
"You don't need to tell me. I also saw what they're capable of first hand."
Turns out, this person is none other than the current Hakurei Shrine Maiden and Guardian/Leader of Fugere Gensokyo Squad, Reimu Hakurei. Clad in her trademark red-white miko outfit, she also carries a gohei with her.
The topic they mentioned there is the Invasion of STICK Army HQ, where GUF Higher Echelon and STI Household Staff decided to end the war by striking down their leader, Stickler. The fact that HMF still exists means they succeed.
Reimu twirls her gohei as she speaks. "Now that you mention it… Didn't the same thing happen with Iesua as well? I clearly remember that just three years after CRA joined the Union, the Danmakufu faction secedes and we had to pacify them." In which Yasei shrugs. "Nah, it's staged, really. Also, it's more like I finally managed to beat Iesua-san more than anything."
"Staged, huh... " Reimu stops twirling and thinks deeply. "And yet the Senshado girls and even the Lunarians actually joined us that time… No wonder many genuinely think it's a real war, and even refer to it as the Second Gensokyo Great War. I already can tell that they never intended to attack in the first place, which is why we managed to rout their ridiculous manpower and you beating her after 16 years."
"I suppose. It's thanks to Iseya though, that the Senshado girls even agreed to reinforce us that time… That, and we all know that though Sengoku Gensokyo forbids killing, injuries can still happen, and sometimes it might be lethal, but anyone can be healed as long as they have enough money. I don't know the details, though. Yukari's the one who came up with it."
"I know, right? Have to preserve the balance, she says..."
"No kidding."
"And you beat me when it comes to the Mobilization Rally. I only did it once during the First Sengoku Gensokyo Tournament, while you did it during both Great Wars… You're clearly the expert when it comes to this."...
"... I did say that I care about Gensokyo, and since it's also part of Japan, I also feel a sense of responsibility as well."
Both of them then sit at the balcony. They continue their conversation with the topic regarding previous Sengoku Gensokyo Tournaments. In particular, the First and both Great Wars. These events are what shaped Historia Gensokyo to what it is now. Naturally, the most notable milestones will be the Final Battles, which will be mentioned below.
Since it follows Sengoku Gensokyo's rule of engagement, that means only a select number of Fighters from each side can participate there. Considering the fact that these moments are pivotal, it is crucial to select the appropriate line-up for the occasion.
Final Battle of 1st Makai Invasion/1st Sengoku Gensokyo Tournament (2006, Limit: 5)
Hakurei Army :
Reimu Hakurei (C), Marisa Kirisame, Sakuya Izayoi, Youmu Konpaku, Reisen Udongein Inaba
vs
Makai Goddess Army :
Shinki (C), Yumeko, Yuki, Mai, Sara
Venue : Hakurei Shrine (Sengoku Gensokyo Final Location)
Makai's casus belli for their abrupt invasion is because they don't want to be forgotten, so they decided to make their entrance known by Shinki personally making an appearance and declaring war on all of Gensokyo by occupying six locations, which is Hakugyokurou, Muenzuka, Forest of Magic, Eientei, Scarlet Devil Mansion, and even Hakurei Shrine, which Shinki claimed.
After reclaiming the first five locations, the united Gensokyo army marched to Hakurei Shrine, to face Shinki and her elite Fighters. The surprise came when Shinki opened a portal in space, revealing Makai inside it. That's where the final battle took place. After few rounds, Gensokyo army finally managed to rout Makai from their realm.
However, Makai would later start another incident a few years afterwards, hence why this is referred to as the 1st Makai Invasion.
Final Battle of 1st Gensokyo Great War/27th Sengoku Gensokyo Tournament (2032, Limit: 6)
Outsiders United :
Yasei Sugaku (C), Lucy Thesda, Vaati Star, Mami Tomoe, Kazuto Kirigaya, Arcueid Brunestud
vs
Clone Rebels Army :
Shiro Reimu (C), Mega Mari, Sanae Faust, Sakuya Wesker, Gosyoumu, Reisen D. Inaba
Venue : Hakugyokurou (Concealed the Conclusion Final Stage)
Unlike Makai, Mutsuigeki Gensokyo was barely able to maintain their existence after their failed attack when they were under Saiki's command. But now that they were finally freed from his rule, they decided to pay another visit to Historia Gensokyo after ten years of strengthening themselves. To their dismay, the locals were complacent, and thus easily defeated.
This leaves the Outsiders faction, led by Yasei, to face this alternate Gensokyo's forces. Without hesitation, they marched to Hakugyokurou after consolidating their ranks. Just like the one with Makai 26 years ago, the Outsiders and Mutsuigeki Gensokyo fought fiercely, and thanks to the former's perseverance, CRA were defeated.
Impressed by their tenacity, Yasei would later invite Shirei and CRA to join Gensokyo Union Fighters. They immediately pledge their allegiance to him in response and accept the invitation.
Final Battle of 2nd Gensokyo Great War/30th Sengoku Gensokyo Tournament (2035, Limit: 6)
Gensokyo Union Fighters :
Yasei Sugaku (C), Reimu Hakurei, Lithnanai Anasi, Meimu Hakurei, Shiro Reimu/Shirei, Yukari Yakumo
vs
Danmakufu Ace Division :
Iesua Nazarenus (C), Michel Sant'Angelo, Mumumu Mikaboshi, Saraka Sant'Angelo, Tamako Sant'Angelo, Janet Arc'Angelo
Venue : Youkai Mountain Summit (The Last Comer Final Stage)
Realizing that the First Gensokyo Great War was won with the Outsiders' help, other factions began raising their own standards to meet those from Outside. Danmakufu faction, though, has another idea, since they secede themselves from the Union after three years, surprising the rest. Iesua even proposed a challenge to GUF, just like Shinki and Makai forces back in 2006.
Contrary to GUF expectations, Danmakufu faction decided to entrench themselves in the summit of Youkai Mountain. But apparently, Iesua's challenge were taken seriously since Iseya managed to rally the Senshado girls to join the war. Not only that, even the Lunarians decided to join in since they confirmed that their Gensokyo base is within Danmakufu faction's reach.
Mumumu, Michel, and Iesua finally got to show their true power after holding it back for 23 years since they first arrived in Gensokyo. It wasn't until Yasei brings Reimu, Lithnanai, Meimu, Shirei, and even Yukari to confront them, that GUF finally managed to beat Danmakufu, with Yasei finally managed to defeat Iesua to avenge his loss in 2019.
Later on, it's revealed that this war, in fact, is staged to test GUF readiness to enter the Multiverse. Not only were they ready, they even managed to rally some of their universe's local powers to aid them. This means GUF is already on a good start.
"Indeed, and we're still on a good track. Stay vigilant, and we'll be prepared for everything."
Surprised by the sudden voice, Reimu instinctively grabs her gohei and takes a guard stance. "Who's there?!"
Yasei, on the other hand, closes his eyes and uses his Living Radar, before then opening it, signaling that he managed to confirm the identity of the voice owner, who noticed it as well.
"That's a good attitude, Reimu. And I see you still keep your mind sharp, Yasei. I believe this year's tournament requires the participation of Danmakufu faction.".
"That is indeed the case, Iesua-san. This tournament is designed to test and strengthen STI's battle power, not unlike those from the Second War."
*sigh* "Don't surprise me like that, Iesua…"
The voice owner turned out to be Iesua Nazarenus, Guardian/Leader of Danmakufu Ace Squad. And she's also the one who planned the Second Gensokyo Great War. She's wearing the same outfit that she wore during her first appearance in Gensokyo. These times, though, she's also can be seen carrying a lance.
Later...
"I see… So it will be in four phases, in which the first three has each of us leading our respective faction to face STI until each faction's territories are completely taken over. And then in the last phase, we'll retake our factions' key locations for the final phase after uniting our forces."
Yasei nods and he continues. "Not only that, but the original limitations will be altered to better suit the purpose. STI can send up to 30 Personnel on their side, and since we're the host, we can rally all of the guilds within our faction's jurisdiction. However, no more than six Fighters can enter the battle."
Reimu then picks off where Yasei left. "So, that means STI will face the guilds first, before then facing the entire might of a faction. And there are three phases that use this format, not to mention the final phase, in which we will give it our all… Quick question, are the Prison and Items system disabled?"
Iesua answered that question with a nod and explained it. "That makes sense, since we have different arsenals compared to STI, and I'm sure they will appreciate that we didn't take their Personnel captive. In return, they can occupy our territories, but they cannot alter it. Developing them using our blueprints, though, is still okay."
Reimu notices that Yasei has something else planned, since he grins after Iesua is done explaining the absence of the Prison and Items system.
"Don't tell me… You planned to include them as guerilla units?!"
Having been found out, Yasei sports a wide smile. "Obviously. I already told Shirei about it, and she agreed to lend a hand alongside CRA. But knowing STI, they will keep their guard up. Which is fine by me. It's their test, and it's up to them to pass ours. That's why, we can't do this half-heartedly. Shirei already taught us a hard lesson of complacency, and we must make sure that we won't be caught off-guard again. Are you two with me on this, Reimu, Iesua-san?"
Both Reimu and Iesua nod, and Yasei concludes it. "Then, prepare for the 'Invasion'."
On that signal, the three of them went and started their preparation for the 49th Sengoku Gensokyo Tournament, otherwise dubbed as 'Recollection of Lightning War'.

Meanwhile...
Location: STI Headquarters, Technology Island, Neo-Gen Outside World
Jack Summers, or better known as LT for those who are under his command, and those he fights against, was reviewing the letter in his hands, his eyes scanning every detail on it, as he had received Yasei's letter about how they were invited into a 'Sengoku Gensokyo Tournament', or more precisely, the 49th one in the line. He's been fairly intrigued by it all, as Yasei's recommendation seemed to be persuade him quite well about participating, as there was a smile on his face, while he leaned back on his personal chair slightly
"Wilder, you really got me interested in this. A war most similar to our prior invasion of Gensokyo, but under rules that make this look more like a war-game than an actual one… I wouldn't lie if this interests me."
As LT said all that, the doors to his office opened up automatically, as LT raised his eyes, seeing that there were five visitors. And they were none other than the team that were with him, when they invaded Neo-Gen Gensokyo a long while ago, consisting of David Fomes, the Registanian Warrior, Takagi Kobayashi, Asahian Sonic Sniper, Alice Lou, Half-Chugokunese Master Archer, and Edge Calloway, the Electric Terror of Bevelle. Harrison is the Supreme Agent of STI, and he's among the team that invaded Neo-Gen Gensokyo.
"Did you call for us, LT?" The Master Archer asked LT about the call. The CEO let out a chuckle upon hearing it. "Ah, punctual as always, you all. Then again, I never expected you to be late at all."
"Cut to the chase, LT buddy. What's this about Yas-man giving us a letter about partaking in some war-game?" Edge immediately speaks, while crossing his arm. Looks like Yasei leaves quite an impression on him during the Invasion of STICK Army HQ.
"Why, thank you for your input, Captain Obvious. Allow me to give you your briefing regarding the contents of this letter, section by section."
LT pressed a few buttons on his table, as it activated a holographic projector that provided a clear-cut image of the map that Yasei gave them. The Gensokyo they knew from reading the Gensokyo Chronicle, was split into multiple zones, each with their own set of points, that were regarded as 'areas'. Almost every section of Gensokyo was jotted down as areas, with some exceptions.
"A map, marked as if it is to mark down a detailed patrol path… I believe that I can see what might be said next from you, LT-taicho." Takagi analyzes the holographic map, and immediately hums in understanding, clearly know where this will going.
"I know you do, this is something that we all should be familiar with. If I remember, we took these sets of paths, when we reclaimed the Zero-Point Modules…"
LT then traced through the holographic map, leaving behind a red trail that went towards the Scarlet Devil Mansion, a purple one that led through Hakugyokurou, a dark blue one that went towards Eientei, and a brown one that went through Old Hell and to Chireiden. All of them were centered from the same point: A area marked in the forest near the Hakurei Shrine.
"Huh, guess we were going the path of least resistance all this time, and even then… that was no cake-walk. The countless residents there all had their own tricks that caused us a lot of pain and grief. Sometimes, I even wonder how much medical supplies we wasted to get our men back in the fight, only to get toppled again. And this is our universe's Gensokyo we're talking about." Harrison follows the traces in the holographic map, and wondered about the cost they took.
"And yet we conquered all of them in our path. And that was a long while ago. We've been researching some ways into Magi-tech… Ever since the Ancients' Incursion in 2119 and our invasion to Neo-Gen Gensokyo few months after the STICK War ended, we ended up taking some Magic Radiation and synchronising it with our tech. It might help us reach the same level of Magi-tech that the UGF boasted, and that will definitely help us in the future. I even heard that HMF counterpart from Historia Universe, United Nations Military, actually employs the Psi-Corps in their ranks." LT is recollecting the events from previous years as he speak.
"LT… Do we at least know who we're going to be up against?" Now, Alice is wondering about what kind of adversary that STI can expect from GUF.
"Thanks to Wilder having a bleeding heart for us all, we've got all that. Ahem… There are three of them here, actually."
There are collective "Wait, what?!" from RAIDERS and Harrison as LT starts saying the faction names.
- Advent Outsiders United, led by Yasei Sugaku.
- Fugere Gensokyo Squad, led by Reimu Hakurei.
- Danmakufu Ace Squad, led by Iesua Nazarenus.
"These three Factions are major powers in Gensokyo Union Fighters, and they have experiences in past Sengoku Gensokyo Tournaments. If we are to be the victors, we must defeat these elite veterans. And it's heavily implied that they have a final surprise for us should each of these factions be individually defeated."
And Edge almost lashed out upon hearing Yasei's name. "Wait just a damn second, if he's one of the enemy leaders, then why is he telling us about this? Oh wait, he's just that idealistic. Hah… I guess that we owe him for this. If he was able to mediate the entire conflict with Neo-Gen Gensokyo and us back then… That's not mentioning that time when we invade those damned STICK Army's Headquarters alongside the Union guys... I guess we're going to need to prepare for when we're going to fight him. Despite his seemingly simple powers, he's potent at what he does, have to admit."
"Speaking of which, we should get to the proper details about how this war-game is fought. It's fought in quite an interesting way. Take the enemy bases, defend your own, and keep track of your own army and territories, and develop them both to bolster your force for the ultimate victory. Heh, just like a strategy game." LT then explaining about how they should tackle this war-game, and huffing in familiarity after he finishes.
"Should I be delegated some of the tactical decisions? Not to undermine your excellence in tactics… but sometimes, you do end up over-analysing-" Takagi volunteered to be one of the tacticians, before being interrupted by Harrison. "Takagi! I understand your concern about the matter, but LT is not perfect. He has room to learn, and that's how he learns how to properly use tactics in war."
Which made LT facepalmed and sigh at the same time. "Uh, you do know I can hear you right… I mean… I'm not that bad, right? But anyways, I won't take full initiative on my actions. I prefer to ask for some opinions about what we do next, but I won't act on them unless I can decisively choose the course of action. So Takagi, you will be helping me make a few choices from time to time, and so are you. But don't try to be reckless, especially a certain someone…"
Now Edge fumed. "Oi! I'm not that hard-headed!" But LT ignored him as he moves to the next topic.
"Moving on, let's get to the basics of how we plan our conquest of Gensokyo in this war-game..."
Ouki
First, we have 'Ouki'. To make it simple, it's basically money. It's used to recover our army's health and buy items.
Ryumyaku
Then we have 'Ryumyaku. This is how 'Ouki' is created. The bigger this is, the more 'Ouki' we get per turn, and the more units we can mobilize.
Cost
Next up is 'Cost'. As we gain more and more allies, the 'Cost' will increase too. Having 'Cost' greater than 'Ryumyaku' is very disadvantageous.
Number of Actions
Finally, there's 'Number of Actions'. It's the amount of commands we can select in a single turn. We can't make any more actions than this number.
"So if I get this right, we imagine Ouki as resources to help replenish our military goods, and Ryumyaku as production buildings for said resources. Truly a war-game indeed, to put that in consideration. But still, Number of Actions…?" Harrison made a summary about the aspects introduced, but he stumped on the last part.
Alice then gives an insight regarding the Number of Actions. "Let me put that in a realistic context. Imagine each 'turn' as a certain period of time. Of course, you can't just have someone working continuously for 24/7, nor can you send armies countless times, when accounting for fatigue, as well as wear and tear. Of course, at a certain point, we can delegate more 'Actions', because of our capacity being enough to support these numbers of tasks."
Takagi nodded, as he managed to understand the context. "That seems to translate well." LT then moved to the next topic.
"As for a few things… Here's what our 'Actions' can be used for."
Event
First up, we have 'Event'. This is where we speak with our allies, or attack other territories. Before we can attack an army, we must first declare war on them. In other words, sneak attacks are not available.
Develop
Next, we have 'Develop'. This command searches for slumbering 'Ryumyaku'. You can basically call it a form of domestic affairs.
Summary
'Summary' will let us view the status of our allies. We can also heal our wounded allies here.
Prison
When we win battles, we will occasionally take prisoners. When we want to make them our allies, use 'Prison' to convince them over to our side. One of the fundamental rules of this game is that the losers must do what the winners say, so I doubt we'll run into much resistance.
Item
'Item' is for when we feel the need to buy whatever item suits our fancy. Different items are sold at different times, however.
System
'System' is where we can save and load our data.
Edge clearly didn't like the comparison for the last aspect. "Wait, hold up. Save? Load? What the hell is this? Our life isn't a game! You can't just save before a boss fight, and load back like nothing happened in real life!" In which Harrison mused. "Well, consider it from another perspective… This may as well be a game."
Edge fumed again, before then he raises his hands, giving up after hearing the 'ridiculous bullshit' from Harrison. "This… You… ARGH! Forget it." Wbat LT said next managed to surprise the group again.
"Unfortunately for us, we don't get to use 'Item' or 'Prison'. I don't know why the former is sealed away, perhaps they have an equivalent option, considering our special role… which actually makes sense for why the latter is sealed." This made Takagi curious. "How so?"
"Believe it or not, Wilder wants us to act as a 'Special Guest' gor this tournament. That means that for trading a few things, we get some additional boons. Our restrictions make it seem like we're invading Gensokyo with a pre-defined line up. We get to take a huge amount of men with us to start with, compared to other factions. As long as we don't lose them, we will always remain at fairly equal ground against the other factions, with our advantage in numbers. Wilder said that the items have beneficial effects, so that's a bit of a disadvantage we're saddled with. Still though, it's not crippling at least."
"Then how are battles done in this war-game?"
LT grins, finally get the chance to introduce the RAIDERS to the combat aspect. "Perfect time to ask that question. Follow me, all of you." He then took them down to the training facility in the HQ, as they quickly set up a standard battleground, with no additional features. There, Emily Nightsky, STI Chief Battle Maid, already waiting. With her is the Chief of Staff for STI, Reina Summers.
"So you two are notified as well… Good to hear. Now then, for this mock battle, let's split ourselves up. Reina, Harrison, Emily, with me. David, Alice, Edge and Takagi, form the opposing team."
Edge grins in excitement and fist-bumps his hands. "Alright, let's do this!"
STI Household VS RAIDERS Squad
"Huh? The battle condition has changed… is this the state in how a battle is done in this war-game?" The RAIDERS are noticeably surprised to learn a new mechanic. LT nods as he starts explaining.
"Right, here are the basics… On the two sides, we have the members of the conflicting forces. On the left side, is the player army. And on the right, the enemy army. In this case, the 'STI Household', as I will use temporarily, is the player army, while the RAIDERS Squad is the enemy force. On each member, is their current and max HP, as well as any signs of status effects. You better make sure to pay special attention to the latter."
Counter
The big numbers at the top-center are Counters that represent the battle time. Ally and enemy actions decrease it, and the battle's over when they hit 0.
Turn Order
The list of names in the middle is the turn order for both allies and enemies. The order goes from top to bottom.
Progress Report
The percentage numbers and the gauge are the 'Progress Report' which decides who wins. It goes from 0 to 100, and whichever side has more than 50 at the end wins. Dealing damage increases our progress, while taking damage decreases it. Getting KO'd is a huge decrease. The attacker also always starts with a disadvantage.
Edge perked up on the Counter aspect. "Wait, so we got only a set amount of 'Counter' to commit actions with. Ah, I get it. It's like boxing. Standard attacks are like the quick jab and cross, advancing and retreating are self explanatory, and big special attacks are like the hooks and uppercuts." He grins and even managed to make a comparison, to Harrison's surprise. "Pretty good analogy from you, Edge. Speaking of which, what's the square grid graph below, with the symbols?" LT then continues his explanation.
"That right there is the distance display. Compare the vertical axis, denoting allied units, to the horizontal axis, where the enemy units are represented, and you'll be able to determine each unit's distance from each other. It's very important, because there are several things that relate to this..."
Distances
Purple means 'Very Far'. A ranged attack can be done, but both sides will have lowered attack power.
Blue means 'Far', the normal ranged attack distance.
Green stands for 'Middle'. You cannot attack from this position, so your only choices are to 'Advance' or to 'Retreat'.
Red means 'Close'. A melee attack can be performed on your enemy.
Finally, orange is 'Very Close'. Both allies and enemies will have enhanced attack power.
Distance is an important element. In general, making sure that we let our allies attack in ways that they are good at is the key to victory.
Takagi nods again, and gives his opinion regarding the aspect. "Key to victory indeed… David and Edge are melee-focused, while Alice and I are range-focused. The Household are more or less all-rounders, with some extra skill in either ranged or melee. In this case, the optimal distance for the ranged attackers is far, and melee attacks at close or very close range, depending on their willingness to take damage. Mid-range can prevent enemies from attacking vital units."
"Good, we're learning fast on that. Next up is the possible actions…" LT hums in approval as he moves on to the next topic.
Movement
First, I'll explain the basics of the basics, 'Movement'. It's simple, we choose an enemy and either 'Advance' towards them or 'Retreat' from them. We can also 'Advance' or 'Retreat' from the entire enemy group, but it costs more from our Counter. Something we must always remember is that if any character is at 'Close' range to an enemy, they cannot 'Advance' towards any other enemies. So if we want someone to go after an enemy ranged attacker, we'll have to use others to make sure the other enemies don't get in their way.
David made a mental imagery about the Movement aspect, and he can't help but astonished with the depth of the aspect. "Block the enemy from getting to the back-line, and ensure that an advance is covered properly… That seems quite complex, now that I think about it." LT grins as he know what to say next. "Oh, David. It gets worse from here on out."
Attacking
Next up is 'Attacking'. These are divided into 'Melee' and 'Ranged' attacks. 'Melee' can be used when the distance is 'Close' or 'Very Close', and 'Ranged' can be used when the distance is 'Far' or 'Very Far'. One important thing to note is everyone is able to perform both Melee and Ranged attacks. Also, 'Melee' attacks will take counterattack damage. The attack power will be lessened, but even heavily wounded squads will deal some counterattack damage. Another thing to note is that as your HP drops, your attack power drops as well. It's also possible to be KO'd from a counterattack, so be careful.
Specials
Next up are 'Specials'. These activate the character's special abilities. Some need to be selected to activate, while some go off under certain conditions. Both I and Reina, our skills are always active, being passive. Alice's skill works when she attacks. Harrison's skill works when countering in melee. Emily's skill gave her increased damage in 'Very Far' range. David's, Edge's and Takagi's can be used whenever they like. The Specials that have to be selected to be used tend to drain the Counter considerably. Use them sparingly.
Standby
Finally, there's 'Standby'. Just as it says, it ends our turn without performing an action.
"Now that this is all done and said, try a few turns, and experiment with the battle functions. See if you can get some skills to trigger, and deal some damage to each other."
One Combat Sequence later...
LT claps his hand to signal the end of the combat sequence. "Alright, let's pack it here. No sense in bloodying each other long before we start the fight." Edge clenches his fists and bumps it together again. "Think I'm warmed up enough for what is ahead. Let's do this." The CEO nods in approval. "That's the spirit. RAIDERS, let's head back to the office to finish the briefing."
Back at LT's office…
"Well, now that everything has been done and dusted, any questions from the class?"
David ponders for a second before he shrugs. "Heh. Not much really, I think that this explains everything we have to deal with. If we're missing something, guess we're going to have to learn it on the fly." A nod from Takagi. "I agree. Then when shall we depart?"
"Quite soon, actually. We need to gather up the RAIDERS who signed up for the mission. I got a certain Necopolitan who wants to one-up a certain blonde magician, and some others who are interested in scrapping with the best. Naturally, I'll bring in my Household Staff along as well, they need some brushing up against the supernatural." As LT said that, he looks at Reina, Harrison, and Emily, who nod since they realized what he means.
Alice sighs in relief as she reminded about their previous conflict with (Neo-Gen) Gensokyo. "At least this will be a far less hostile venture. We might be enemies, but at least it will be on amicable terms as tournament entrants." With that, LT finished the debriefing. "Right then, you're all dismissed, do what you need to prepare."
LT merely watched as the RAIDERS team departed from his office, as he switched the hologram projector to a certain image, where Richard and LT clashed right in the office, HF katana to Zantankuto. He made a light smile as he watched said image.
"Heh, guess I'll be making myself stronger, my fair rival. You might not like me much, but I have a feeling that we'll be seeing each other again soon, and perhaps, we'll be able to consider each other friends this time around. And you might be surprised to learn the fact that I have a sister… Just like Wilder and the UNM Field Marshal."
LT then switched the holo-projector off, as he got up, and left the office, to make the preparations for the war-game tournament.
AN: And there we go. I decided to rewrite Fantasy Blitzkrieg in Sengoku Gensokyo National Mode Style. I already discussed it with Xovercreator, and it seems he's quite interested with the idea. I insist to keep his Gensokyo at War canon here since that's the first Fantasy Blitzkrieg Spin-Off ever, and I can claim that I wrote the second Spin-Off, Return of Blitzkrieg Gensokyo. So, this take will be co-written by me and Xover, since this is an interquel of both stories.
Speaking about which, Xovercreator actually managed to give STI the advantage they needed, by making their 'Number of Actions' proportional to their 'Ryumyaku'. So this means, as the tournament goes on, it will be fiercer. In comparison, GUF can only use limited 'Number of Actions'. Good game, Xover. About the locations, Fugere Gensokyo, Danmakufu Aces, and Advent Outsiders will have their own location set. So you can expect that the map will be expanded considerably.
This is the prologue, and hope the idea interest you as well. I bid you all a good day.
