Two mysterious people were in a room together staring at an exploding sun like planet. An pale woman with fair skin and long black hair, in a black and white tight suit turned around to face the man who was sitting in his chair, smoking a cigar.
"Shepard did everything right. More than we could've hoped for. Saving the Citadel-even saving the Council. Humanity as the trust of the entire galaxy...and still it's not enough."
The strange glowing blue eyes man replied back to her "Our sacrifices have earned the Council's gratitude, but Shepard remains our best hope."
"But they're sending her to fight Geth. Geth! We both know know that they are not the real threat. The reapers are still out there."
"And its up to us to stop them."
"The Council will never trust Cerberus. They'll never accept our help. Even after everything humanity has accomplished. But, Shepard...they'll follow her. She's a hero, a bloody icon. But she's just one woman. If we lose Shepard, humanity might as well follow."
The man flicked his cigar before putting it back into his mouth then leaned back into his chair and placed his fingers together "Then see to it that we don't lose her." then his strange blue eyes glowed dimmer, fading away along with the dark room.
One month after the devastating geth attack on the Citadel, the galactic community struggles to rebuild. The Alliance fleet made a tremendous sacrifice to save the Citadel Council and earned humanity's membership in their prestigious group. Now the Council is forced to respond to evidence that the Reapers-enormous machines that eradicate all organic civilization every 50,000 years-have returned. To quell the rumors, the Council has sent Commander Shepard and the Normandy to wipe out the last pockets of geth resistance. Officially, they "blame" the invasion on the geth and their leader, a rogue specter. But for those who know the truth, the search for answers is just the beginning...
Far off in the outer and deepest part of space, a huge space ship flew across a big and beautiful planet, The SSV Normandy! The crew were walking around doing their duties, along with the ship's pilot, Joker. He gave everyone the full status on the intercom. "Disengaging FTL drives. Emission sinks active. Board is green...we are running silent."
But Pressly began to grow irritated as he was searching the screens for any sign of activities "We're wasting our time. Four days searching up and down this sector, and we haven't even found any sign of geth activity."
Joker replied back to him. "Three ships went missing here in the past month. Something happened to them."
"My money's on slavers. The Terminus System is crawling with them."
Then a female operative saw something unusual on her screen and swiped it to get check "Picking up something on the long-range scanners. Unidentified vessel. Looks like a cruiser."
Joker checked his screen, confused "Doesn't match any known signatures."
"Cruiser is changing course. Now on the intercept trajectory."
Pressly spoke, shocked. "Can't be! Stealth are systems engaged. There's no way that a geth ship could-"
Joker noticed something different about the ship "It's not the geth. Brace for evasive maneuvers!"
The huge oncoming vessel released an laser beam and it hit the Normandy dead on. The computer screen Pressly was working at blew up in his face "Aaah!", making him tumble to the floor, dead. The female operative noticed "Pressly!" then tried to rush over to him but she got caught in the explosion by her monitors behind her "Ungh!" and she fell too.
Joker tried to keep the ship balanced to keep it from crashing, while giving the status of it "Kinetic barriers are down! Multiple hull breaches! Weapons offline! Somebody get that fire out!"
While everyone was scrambling around trying to abandon ship, an blue female alien rushed over to her Commander, worried, an Asari, Liara.
"Shepard!" Commander Shepard placed her helmet on her head getting ready. "Distress beacon is ready for launch."
"Will the Alliance get here in time?" Liara asked.
She quickly ran over to the fire extinguisher to try and put out some of the fire blocking the route.
"The Alliance won't abandon us. We just need to hold on. Get everyone onto the escape shuttles."
Liara turned to look at her Commander, stubbornly refusing to leave her. After everything they have been together, stopping Saren and Harbinger from contacting more reapers and having them wipe out every species, like they did with the Protheans, 50,000 years ago. Liara could vividly remember that night, with her and Shepard, thinking that it was going to be their last moments together. It was a night that she would cherish forever. There was no way in hell that she going to abandon her.
"Joker's still in the cockpit. He won't evacuate. I'm not leaving, either."
Shepard quickly walked over to her and lightly tapped her shoulder urging female blue companion to leave "I need you to get the crew onto the evac shuttles. I'll take care of Joker."
"Shepard..."
Shepard turned to look at Liara then loudly yelled at her in an angry but firm voice "Liara! That is an order! Get the hell out of here! NOW."
Then quickly ran off to get her ship's pilot. Liara took an step back, surprised by her Commander's angry order, but softly complied "Aye, Aye."
She got ready to leave, but not before turning around sadly to where her Commander was once at, then left. She made it over to the shuttles along with a few people, who made it, urging them to climb and strap in "Everybody in! Go, go, go!"
Shepard made it to the upper deck and quickly opened the door to find a huge hull breach. She grimly looked around at the damaged as she saw bits and pieces of her ship flying around in space. She trudged through while trying to push some of the floating debris in her way until she heard Joker's panicked voice on the intercom, trying to send out an message to anyone.
"Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! This is SSV Normandy! We've suffered heavy damage from an unknown enemy! C'mon baby! Hold together! Hold together!"
Shepard walked over to the cockpit to see that he put up a blue containment field then quickly passed through it and gently tapped his arm to get his attention.
"Come on Joker! We have to get out of here!"
"No! I won't abandon the Normandy! I can still save her!"
"The Normandy's lost. Going down with the ship won't change that." Joker sighed sadly, knowing that she was right "Yeah,...okay. Help me up."
Once he tried to get out of his chair, he saw the attacking vessel gearing up for another attack "They're coming around for another attack!"
It launched another beam splitting the Normandy in half, like nothing. Knowing that they were running out of time, Shepard quickly turned around back to Joker and grabbed his arm getting ready to lift him up. He grabbed her hand in pain "Ah! Watch the arm!"
"Oh, right! Brittle bones! Sorry!"
She led him to the nearest escape pod and placed him in but before she could do anything else another beam threw her back.
Joker tried to reach out to her but she was too far away "Commander! Shepard!"
She quickly pushed the launch button and the escape pod closed and left with him in it. The unidentified ship unleashed an final attack which caused a shock wave to bounce Shepard back and hit her helmet hard on a piece of whats left of the Normandy, breaking the oxygen tube. She heard the oxygen escaping from her suit and frantically tried to cover the leaking air with her hand but to no avail. She was starting to blackout out.
(So this is how my story ends? Floating in a endless dark, cold void of space and dying from lack of oxygen. I never got to tell him... I'm sorry, but it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to keep my promise, G-...)
