Anna and Aiden were riding in the car as Anna drove. Neither of them said a word for a couple of minutes. Anna glanced over to see Aiden looking out the window, looking at the scenery. She smiled.
"How about we listen to some tunes on the radio?"
"Okay." Aiden replied. Anna turned the knob, switching the radio on, searching through the channels. She stopped on a channel, as it was playing an AC DC song.
"Alright, time to jam it up!" Anna shouted. However, to her shock it was playing "Highway to Hell." Anna choked. Aiden turned his head, to see his mother with a horrified look on her face, eyes wide and with her mouth slightly dropped.
"Mama, are you okay?" Aiden asked, worried. Anna laughed nervously, and turned the radio off.
"You know what, let's just enjoy the scenery instead." she answered.
For a while, Anna drove, as she focused on the road in front of her, as she drove into the dense woods.
Suddenly, a deer had jumped out from out of nowhere right in front of the incoming car. Anna and Aiden screamed and Anna quickly slammed her foot on the brakes. The car narrowly missed the deer, driving past it, and was now swerving out of control. Anna tried to maneuver the car back into control as she turned the steering wheel.
"OH MY GOD! NO!" Anna screamed.
The car finally came to a stop as the wheels screeched on the dirt path. Anna gasped as she tried to steady her heartbeat practically seeing her life flashed before her eyes. Aiden sat still with wide eyes still in shock from the incident. As Anna managed to calm down, she turned to her son.
"Are you okay, baby?" Anna asked worried.
"Yeah, nice driving, mom," Aiden joked.
"Well, at least we're home," Anna said. She and Aiden climbed out of the car, parked in front of a wooden cabin. As the two headed towards the house, Anna saw something and turned to see a small white feather falling from the sky as it landed on the ground. Her eyes widen as she saw something with wings, landing behind the cabin.
"Mom, is everything okay?" Aiden called out from the porch, not knowing.
The being stopped out from the side of the cabin, revealing themselves to be an angel. It was Michael. His wings were now gone as they were tucked away, hidden.
"Uncle Michael!" Aiden shouted, running up to him, hugging him.
"Hey kiddo, giving your mother a hard time?" Michael laughed.
"No," Aiden murmured.
"Are you sure?" Michael smiled, eye brows now raised.
"Yes." Aiden answered.
"Are you really sure?" Michael continued to tease him.
"Well, there was an incident at school, but it was not my fault!" Aiden said, honestly. Michael shifted his gaze over to see Aiden's shadow who was looking at him innocently.
"Okay, I believe you." Michael replied. Anna walked over to the two.
"How about you run along and play in the woods while I talk to "Uncle Michael" for a bit?" Anna asked.
"But, I want to talk to him some more!" Aiden whined. Anna sighed. Aiden was so much like his father that he didn't even realize it.
"How about this?" she suggested. "If you play for a bit, I'll make your favorite meal-" Aiden gasped.
"Jambalaya!" he shouted, excitedly. Anna continued. "And maybe, we can do a shadow puppet show together for Michael?" Aiden's eyes shined as it beamed with happiness. Anna held a hand out. "Do we have a deal?"
"Deal!" Aiden immediately, took it, as he shook his mother's hand, no questions asked. He ran, leaving the two alone as he headed towards the path in the woods.
"He is such a good boy," Michael laughed. Anna turned her head, looking at the angel.
"Not that I'm not happy to see you, but, why are you here?" she asked. Anna saw the smile on Michael's face slightly drop, before he frowned. He had a serious look on his face now.
"The end is nigh." Michael warned.
