20 Days Until Extermination...
Five days have passed since the king had apologized to Anna. For some reason, Anna couldn't shake the feeling that he really didn't meant it. Maybe it was his tone of voice, or when he wasn't looking at her, or it could have been the overbearing sharp and piercing, forceful look that Lilith was giving him when he was telling Anna that he was sorry. But, she decided to forgive him, for now.
It was late in the afternoon, Anna was finishing up a session with Angel. The spider demon walked out of the room, while Anna was sitting on the chair reviewing her notes. She still got nowhere with him. As far as she could see, the spider demon's eyes had changed, everything else stayed the same. She knew what was holding him back, his family. But, Angel refused to talk about them. Anna sighed as she rubbed her temples, feeling a sharp pain when a migraine came, followed by nausea. Anna hissed in pain when she felt another wave hit her. She could feel the bile from this morning's breakfast about to come up. Her eyes darted across the room to see the trashcan in the corner and made a quick run for it.
As she ran over to it, there was a knock on the door. Anna knew who it was but she quickly made a mad dash over to the trashcan and hurled it. Alastor walked in at the same time, just as she did.
"Darling, Charlie's asking for you. Do you want me to tell her that you'll be out soon or-" He paused seeing Anna leaning over the can, vomiting into it. He cringed disgust as teeth tightened tighter together. He walked over to her, holding her hair back as she finished. Anna wiped her mouth off with her sleeve.
"Are you alright?" Alastor asked, looking at her with a concerned look, still smiling. Anna shivered, still tasting the aftermath.
"Must have been something that I ate," she told him. Alastor narrowed his eyes at her a little insulted. Anna snickered seeing his reaction.
"Relax it was a joke," she reassured him. "Your cooking was excellent as always. I guess my stomach just decided differently today."
"I'm glad to hear that. You had me worried there for a minute," Alastor grinned. "It's a good thing that your not pregnant!" Anna froze, hearing what Alastor had said. Pregnant? Her eyes widened in surprise. Alastor noticed.
"Relax, it was a joke. I was just trying to lighten the mood a little," He assured her. "There is no way that you can be pregnant. Sinners can't have children of their own." Anna bit her lower lip, trying to process his words. But, she wasn't a...Anna shook her head of the thought.
"Yeah, you're right," she smiled.
"Well, now that's out of the way. How about we go out for a bit?" Alastor suggested. "You could use a little fresh air, being cooped up here for the past few days."
"Sounds great," Anna told him. "Where to?"
Soon enough, Alastor had taken Anna to a cafe restaurant. As the two walked up to the door, the male greeter noticed Alastor. He quickly opened the door, while nervously looking at him as he gestured the two inside, leading them to the patio out back.
"R-right this way, sir!"
"Thank you, my kind sir!" Alastor smiled, as he walked inside with Anna, heading to a table. The two of them took a seat, looking over the menus, deciding on what to have. As she was looking, Anna noticed that a few customers were a little unease, seeing Alastor. A waiter quickly ran over to the table, his hands shaking, scared, as he struggled to hold the pen and notepad in his hands.
"W-What can I-I get the two of you?!" he asked them. Alastor smiled at him.
"Some deviled eggs for me," he turned to Anna, looking at her. "What would you like?"
"Uh," Anna couldn't her stomach began to churn again with discomfort. "Just a plain salad, please." The waiter took their menus and dashed off, leaving them. Alastor frowned, giving her a suspicious look.
"Are you sure that you're alright?" he asked her. "We can go if you want?"
"No! No!" Anna shook her head. "I'm fine, really. My stomach's still just a little upset."
Then the waiter came back and placed Alastor's and Anna's food down in front of them.
"Here you go!" he told them. "I-Is there anything else that you need?"
"No, we're fine!" Alastor told him. As the waiter left, Alastor and Anna ate silently for awhile until she spoke.
"I noticed several people as we walked in. They were looking at you in fear," she said. "You didn't do anything to them, did you." Alastor made a fake gasp as if he was hurt.
"I'm shocked that you would say that," he told her. "Maybe, I did some horrible and unspeakable things to them in the past, but not now. I've changed really!"
"Okay, I believe you," Anna told him, taking a munch of a couple of lettuce from her salad. "For now." Alastor smiled until he noticed a couple of crows not too far from him. He picked up a deviled egg and tossed one over to the murderous flock.
"Here you go, my friends! Enjoy!"
Anna watched in horror to see several of the birds attacking each other until one crow killed one. What was most unsettling was how she saw how much the radio demon was enjoying it.
"Alastor!" she snapped, slamming her hands on the table, hard. His eyes widened and he turned his head back to her. He nearly flinched, but didn't, when he saw how cold from the glare that Anna was giving him.
"Don't be mad, my dear," he tried to calm her down. "They were just some silly birds!"
Anna stared at him in disbelief. Some silly birds? That's all he thought that they were? She shook her head and scooted the chair back, standing up. "You haven't changed."
Alastor's eyes widened as he saw her beginning to walk way. "Damn it," He hissed under his breath as he chased after her. "Anna, wait!"
As he left, the crows decided to pick on the unfortunate waiter, clawing and pecking at him.
Anna walked fast as she could hear Alastor's footsteps behind her, trying to keep up with her pace.
"Will you slow down? We need to talk!" Alastor called out to her.
"Hey! What's going on?" Alastor's ear's twitched in annoyance with a strained smile on his face, at the sound of Angel's voice. Great, just what he needed right now. Angel walked across the street, now right at his side at the same pace as his.
"Why are you here?" Alastor asked the spider in a strained voice.
"I was doing some shopping. Gotta look good, ya know?" Angel winked and smirked at him. "Why, you wanna peek?"
"No." Alastor immediately answered.
"What did you do to piss her off?" Angel asked, jerking a thumb towards Anna.
"You tell Alastor that I'm not talking to him!" Anna shouted back.
"And I said that I was sorry!" Alastor shouted back at her. "What more do you want from me!?"
"That doesn't change the fact that you're still a murder!" Anna shouted, angrily.
"Woah, who did ya ice off?" Angel asked.
"It was just a stupid bird," Alastor replied, before looking at Anna. "And something that you're making a big deal about! What's so important about one bird!? There's plenty more!"
"I was taught that all life was precious, and that includes animals!" Alastor froze.
"Well, shit," Angel replied. "You messed up big time." Alastor narrowed his eyes, glaring at the spider demon. Suddenly, the two nearly jumped, startled, when they heard Anna scream. Alastor and Angel both turned their heads to see Anna on the ground, trying to get up.
"Anna!" Alastor shouted, immediately, he ran over to her, along with Angel as well. Alastor was about to grab Anna's hand to help her up, but she pulled it away.
"Don't touch me!" she hissed. "You murder!"
"Don't call me that!" Alastor shouted back at her.
"Hey, I don't know if I should say this, but what the fuck is going on with your legs!" Angel pointed out. "They look all bent at an weird angle."
Anna pulled and rolled back her pant legs and her eyes widened in shock. Instead, of human legs, stood out two pair of deer legs.
"Great, just great," Anna growled. "This is exactly what I need right now!"
"Let me help you up," Alastor offered again.
"You've helped enough." Anna shoved his hand away. Then the three heard someone laughing and looked up to see, another deer demon watching them.
"Hey what the fuck are you laughing at?!" Angel shouted. "This isn't a show, now scram!" The man had short black hair, wearing a brown suit, a little on the hefty side. Alastor's eyes widen in surprise before glaring darkly at him. It was his father.
"Well, well well," His father smirked as he walked towards the group. "What do we have here?"
"Nothing that involves you," Alastor replied, his voice going static. "Leave. Now."
"Now, now, is that any way to treat your father," Alastor's father smirked.
"As far as I'm concerned, I have no father," Alastor retorted. "Now, I'm not going to ask again. Leave."
Alastor's father ignored him, then shifted his gaze over to Anna, who was still trying to get up. Angel tried to help her up as he supported her. Her legs were wobbling like a new born fawn.
"Such a pretty little thing," he smirked. "Wouldn't mind having a piece of her!" Alastor's eyes turned red, about to lunge out at him. "Don't you ever talk about her that way!"
"Alastor, no!" Anna cried out. "Don't do it!" Alastor's elongated claws stopped nearly an inch from his father's face.
"Don't let him get to you," Anna told him. "You have a choice, just walk away." Alastor growled, wanting so much to wipe that smug grin from his father's face by ripping him apart. He looked like he was about to do it. Alastor's father laughed.
"Go ahead! Do it!" He taunted Alastor some more.
Alastor shifted his gaze over towards Anna, who was watching him, waiting for his choice. A few minutes pass, Alastor stepped back, narrowing his eyes at him. He turned around walked over to Anna and Angel. Alastor's father's face was red, enraged.
"I knew it! I knew that you wouldn't hit me!" he shouted. "I've raised such a disappointment for a son. It's all that bitch's fault!" Alastor's eyes widened, and he immediately stopped in his tracks. That bastard! He let out a low dangerous dark growl. Anna grabbed Alastor's hand tightly. Almost immediately, Alastor looked at her, focusing only on her. Anna smiled.
"You did the right thing." she told him. "You didn't let your anger get to you."
"I have you to thanks for that," Alastor told her. Anna looked at him with a surprised look. Suddenly, Alastor's clothes began to change as the red began to drip off from it, falling on to the ground until he was wearing a white and golden pinstriped suit. He looked human, aside from the long brown hair and deer ears and antlers. What stood out, were two big brown eyes staring at Anna. But, he had done the impossible. Alastor had redeemed himself.
"Holy shit, Smiles!" Angel stared baffled at him. "You did it!"
Alastor's father growled. "That's a load of hogwash!"
"Maybe for you," Alastor retorted, smirking.
"You son of bi-" Just as Alastor's father was about to attack, a loud shot rang out as a gun fired. The bullet hit it's mark, right in the center of Alastor's father's forehead. Alastor, Angel, and Anna watched in shock and surprise as they saw him fall to the ground. The three turned around, to see another spider demon with a stern frown on his face, walking up toward them. He was shorter than Angel. He had dark black fur all over his body, eight red eyes, wearing a dark suit, a yellow bow, a hat with a pale yellow outlines and pants. He frowned even more when he saw Angel.
As he stopped right in front of Angel, the spider punched Angel right across the cheek, knocking him down.
"Man, you're a bitch to find," the demon said a cold tone. He had an Brooklyn accent to him with a small hint of Italian accent as well.
"Arackniss! What the hell?!" Angel shouted, angrily as he rubbed his cheek. "You bastard! I see that you still haven't' changed!"
"You're his brother?" Anna asked.
"Yeah, what's it to ya?" Arackniss growled.
"Then that's great! You can help Angel!" Anna asked.
"I don't want anything to do with him!" Angel argued.
"Sorry, but I'm not here for that sorry excuse. There's another target that I'm after," Arackniss said, before aiming his gun at Anna's head. "I'm actually here for you."
