"So these are our options," Jack smiled at his wife, who sat in a rocking chair with her paw on her swollen belly. "We have this soft sage green. Or this funky mint green. Or, if you prefer, this dark basil green."
Skye chuckled, making her husband pause in his paint presentation.
"Did we have no herb free paint choices?" His blue eyes rolled but he kept his smile. "Leave it to a bunny to pick colors named after food."
"I just really like green for the baby's room," he explained. "It feels lucky, it's unique, and it works for both male and female."
"And I think that basil color is really growing on me." She grinned when he gave her a look of excitement. Skye gave him a look of encouragement. "It's perfect."
Jack took the paint roller and covered a large portion of the wall. Once he was done, he stepped back and admired his work. Settling down on the floor in front of his wife, he relaxed as her paws rubbed the tension from his shoulders.
"This is it, Stripes," she whispered in his ear. "This is the paint we gotta go with."
He smiled and murmured his agreement. "Two more months."
She smiled, too. "Then we're parents."
