Judy paused at the door, the box she held a small weight in her paws. It felt heavier than it should as nerves filled her belly. Knowing who was on the other side of the bedroom door made it seem impossible to open it. There was only so much she could do for him right now. He may reject it, her, the situation. And from the sadness radiating from the small room, she wouldn't blame her second cousin.

He had only been in her care for a few days and in that time, the little bunny had barely left his room. Judy knocked on the door gently, entering after she heard his voice grant her permission.

"Jack?" She carefully came into the room, her eyes on him as he sat on the bed with a pillow in his arms. Sad blue eyes looked up at his new caregiver. Judy smiled kindly at him. "I have something for you."

Taking a seat on the edge of the bed, the box was passed to him. Jack looked at her briefly before going to the gift he now held. The ribbon was pulled and the lid lifted. His mouth dropped open and two shaking paws reached in. A stuffed rabbit was pulled out, dressed in a little business suit made from his late father's favorite, with stripes just like Jack's.

"I know you had to leave most of your toys behind," Judy said, "and I know you miss your mom and dad. I'm not going to ever try to replace them, but I hope this helps you feel a little less lonely. I made it from some of your parents' old clothing."

Jack hugged the stuffed bunny in his arms and breathed deep.

"It smells like them," he whispered. Without warning, he threw himself into Judy's arms. "Thank you, Judy. I love it."

She smiled and hugged him back. "You're welcome, Jack."
