If there's one thing that Peter's wallet appreciated about Diana and Donna, it was that despite their royal heritage, upbringing and literal divine origins, they were fairly simple in what constitutes as a date.
To them, it didn't matter if they had dinner at some back street hole in the wall food stand or some five star European named restaurant that needed you to make a reservation a year in advance with appetizers worth two months of pay, all that mattered was that all of them were enjoying themselves. But Peter still made the effort to treat the two like the Goddess he believed them to be, especially for their one year anniversary, so that meant taking then both somewhere nice and required a six month in advance reservation.
"I have to say love, you've blown my expectations out of the water" Donna said as she, dressed in a beuaitufl blue dress with her hair done up in a pony tail, sat across from Peter, who was dressed in a surprisingly tasteful suit, at one of New York's most extravagant Greek restaurants.
It wasn't her typical kinda scene, too many hors d'oeuvres, not enough tequila shots and greasy food but the orchestral music being played by a small band on the far end of the room and seeing her Peter dressed in a suit more than made up for it.
"Only the best for one of my girls" Peter smirked as he did his best to not stare too long at some of the prices of the dishes they had here...
Sweet Jesus, was lamb really that expensive when served with oysters and some kind of olive sauce?
Donna hummed as she took a sip of her wine and liked her lips free of the excess liquid "Though I will say, their wine is much to be desired"
"I thought it was authentic?" Peter said with a frown as he glanced back down at the menu.
"It is, but I prefer Italian" Donna clarified as she settled back in her seat "Diana is the one that loves Greek vintages... and whatever the hell that stuff from Macedonia is from"
"Isn't Macedonia the same as Greece?" Peter asked.
Donna sighed at this "No Peter..."
For the first time that night, Donna was glad that Diana wasn't there for that, she always got a 'little' worked up when people started thinking that Macedonians, Amazons and Greeks were all the same.
"Oh" Peter blinked at this before he returned his attention to his menu while a waiter came by and refilled Donna's glass.
They both did their best to avoid the third empty seat that was left at their table, meant for Diana. Donna was still annoyed that she wasn't able to cancel or postpone whatever it was that she was busy with while Peter himself was trying to find a way to broach something that's been bothering him for the past few weeks now. It wasn't anything too serious, at least compared to the usual stuff he deals with, but it'll still be a pretty big change of things between the three of them. At least, Peter believed it might given that it'll radically affect his work schedule.
"So, how's life at the Bugle?" Donna asked after a few minutes of silence between them.
"Oh you know, it's... same old same old" Peter answered as he closed the menu and pushed it away, confident he knew what he wanted and how to pronounce it.
"Still Jameson's work horse when it comes to photos?" Donna teased with a brief brush of her heeled foot against Peter's leg "When your not taking glorified selfies of yourself for him to bash you with, your strutting around taking pictures of boring functions and of other heroes for him to bash"
"You make me sound like a discount Olsen" Peter said with a face.
"If anything, Olsen's the Discount Peter" Donna grinned as she made a show of eyeing Peter up and down "Your much cuter than him anyway"
"Good to know" Peter said with a deadpanned expression before he leaned forward on his elbows, his gaze centered on the half glass of wine in front of him "Anyhow, while we're on the subject of my work, it's kinda what I've been meaning to talk to you and Diana about. About my employment at the Bugle I mean"
"What do you mean?" Donna said as she pushed her plate to the side and leaned back in her seat, curious.
"I'm thinking of... well I've been thinking of leaving the Bugle" Peter said as he turned his head side to side slightly "Get a new job. Better hours, better pay... less Spider-man is a menace rants"
"Oh" Donna said as her brows shot up in surprise as she sat up a little straighter in her chair "What brought this on?"
"It's like you said, I'm Jameson's packhorse when it comes to photos. When something big comes up, he usually wants me there, which is a lot more than I'm comfortable with now a days" Peter answered as he rubbed the back of his neck "And the pay is getting too inconsistent. It's still better than when I started off, but... well with some of the stuff I plan to use, I need a more stable cash flow"
"Peter I was just joking" Donna said as she reached forward and took Peter's hand "Diana and I don't mind that your photographer. Hell, your photos alone are the reason why me and Diana even still read that trash your editor writes up. And you don't have to worry about money, we can live off Diana's stipend alone with our spending habits and still not even put a dent in it"
"Good to know" Peter snorted before he took a deep breath and sighed "But, this is something I've been thinking of for a while. Like before the three of us ever hooked up. I mean aside from Jameson's rants, which at times are kinda funny, I love the place. The people are nice, the assignments are fun, most of the time, and I've had some of the best years of my life thanks to that place..."
Donna waited a moment as she gently rubbed Peter's hand with her thumb "But...?"
"But I don't want to look back on my life and see all I ever did with it was be a photographer" Peter said with a hint of frustration "I mean, I have an IQ of like... two hundred or something. I can use that for a lot more than timing out my shots, the angles to get them from, how to best utilize the lighting and debris in the air and how it can affect my line of visibility and the quality of my pictures. I mean for crying out loud, I once outsmarted Lex Luthor!"
"I heard" Donna said with a giggle "I think that's the first time that Diana was ever turned on as much as she was. She was practically dripping like a waterfall when she got you back home"
"Well it helped that she saw me sucker punch Psycho so hard he briefly identified as a woman" Peter said with a thoughtful tap of his chin "Followed by the mother of all one liners. When I die, I'm having it engraved on my tombstone"
"Don't know why you would, it sucked" Donna said with a straight face.
"Maybe it did... but not as much as you and Diana did that night" Peter threw a wink at Donna before his face turned into an expression of pain as Donna kicked his chin.
"Ow!" he hissed as he reached down to rub his now sore shin, he was definitely getting as bruise later.
"You are very lucky that your cute" Donna said with an eye roll.
"And charming" Peter said as he took a sip of his wine "And unbelievably funny. Honestly, I should start my own podcast. I'll be like the Ron Burgundy of superheroes"
"Fantastic" Donna said in a dry tone that could leave a desert parched before she cleared her throat and adjusted her seat "So, what do you plan to do than?"
"I've been thinking of applying for Horizon Labs" Peter answered with a thoughtful look on his face.
"Why not Wayne Enterprises?" Donna inquired "They have a pretty good office branch here. Some of their best tech comes from them"
"The last time I worked for a multibillion dollar company with a shady CEO, I nearly ended up gutted alive and left for dead in the river" Peter said a shiver.
"Oscorp?" Donna said with sympathy.
"No..." Peter groaned as he rubbed a hand down his face "Fisk"
"Eww" Donna made a face at this.
Wilson Fisk had to be without a doubt one of the worst human beings on the face of the planet. As a Private Investigator, she's witnessed her fare share of horror at the man's hands. Those that defy or threaten him and can't be brought to heel either end up dead or wishing they were dead.
And it didn't end with them, Fisk went after everyone.
Peter nodded "Yep, tell me about it"
"I mean, how'd that even happen?" Donna asked with an incredulous look on her face.
"Which part? The working for Fisk or nearly ending up dead in the Hudson?" Peter asked.
"Both" Donna said as she leaned forward and rested her elbows on the table's edge and rested her chin on her interlaced fingers, her gaze focused solely on Peter with an intensity that was a little intimidating.
"You know, it's times like this I wonder why you aren't a cop" Peter said as he leaned back a little, as if the slight change in distance will somehow make Donna's look less... well like she was about to reach across the table and grab him, and not in a fun way.
"Peter, we both know that I can't pull of a officer's uniform as well as a nurse's" Donna said as her eyes narrowed slightly "Now, answer the question or I'll sick Jessica on you"
"Dirty" Peter shot the woman a look before he shrugged "I originally tried to infiltrate Fisk back when I first started out. You know, take him down from he inside like those cop movies. Surprise, didn't end so well for me once Fisk caught on. Thankfully he never found out who I was exactly and he didn't know I healed a helluva lot better than your average human, so when he cut me up with that hidden sword of his in that cane he likes, he assumed I'd died"
"Lucy break" Donna said with a frown "You were very lucky"
"Tell me about it" Peter nodded in agreement "Thankfully Gobby's attempted rise to power sorta dragged his attention away from the seemingly random teen trying to uncover his operations that he believes was left for dead in the river"
Donna hummed at this before she took her glass of wine and all but downed it in one gulp before setting the now empty glass to the side "So what are you going to do for money? I assume your gonna find a job to hold you over until you get accepted to into- what's with that look?"
Donna's brow furrowed as she stared at the sheepish expression on Peter's face before it clicked.
"You wanna work for me, don't you?" she said in a unimpressed tone.
"Yeah" Peter said with a wince "Hehehe, can I?"
Donna folded her arms across her chest and gave Peter a pointed look as she spoke "You do realize that my only two employees are also your ex's, right?"
"I know" Peter said with slumped shoulders.
To be honest Peter still has no idea how or why Felicia or Jessica joined up with Donna and formed their little Private Investigation Firm, thingy. A part of him thought it was an excuse to stick close to him, at least on Felicia's part, while Jessica did it just to screw with him. It was made even more awkward when Donna found out and nearly fired the two women right then and there, thankfully Diana was able to talk her down from it... and well, did other things to temper Donna's reaction to the revelation.
"One wants to fuck you still and the other wants to put you through a wall and honestly I can't tell which one does" Donna said as she pinched the ridge of her nose "And we've just gotten our rhythm going after months of awkwardness and back handed insults and now you wanna screw it all up by dropping yourself right in the middle of it"
"So is that a no?" Peter asked with a dejected expression.
Donna scowled at Peter's look for a moment before she loudly exhaled through her nose and adverted her gaze "No... it's not-"
"YAY!" Peter whooped before he was silenced by another kick to the shin, thankfully his other one "OW! What was that for?"
"For all the future headaches your about to cause me" Donna grumbled as she snatched Peter's wine out of his hand and downed it in one go as well.
Peter stared at her for a moment with confusion before he scowled in annoyance and crossed his arms across his chest and huffed.
"No I won't!"
...
Several hours and two wine bottles later, a slightly tired Donna found herself sitting in her apartment's living room, the lights dimmed, dressed in a lacy black nightgown with a book of late tenth century poetry in her hands. Peter had long fallen asleep in their bed, still half dressed in his suit and sporting several lipstick marks on his exposed chest from Donna's earlier attempts at initiating sexual intercourse.
She was a little annoyed with him for falling asleep while she was still a little horny, but it wasn't like Donna had done the same in the past with either Diana or Peter.
'Would it have killed him to have at least eaten my cunt first?' Donna thought with a sigh as she flipped the page and began to read the second poem.
She wasn't truly invested in the book, which she's read over eight times by this point, she was simply trying to find something to kill time as she waited up for Diana. She considered going through some of her mail to see if Jessica or Felicia had any updates on their respective cases, or if Roy had sent her any new information on the one she was currently working, but deiced to wait until tomorrow.
'I suppose I can use it to help ease Peter into being a private eye' Donna thought as her enhanced hearing picked up the sound of the apartment's elevator slowly climbing up to her level.
With a sigh, Donna closed her book and set it to the side and laid back in her chair as she waited for her foster mother and lover to arrive. She didn't have to wait long as the elevator came to a stop and the doors opened a few seconds later. After a few footfalls through the hall, Donna heard the clicks of the door's locks before it was gently pushed open and closed soon afterwards.
'I wonder what it was today that kept her' Donna thought as she watched Diana step into her view and once more found herself wondering how such a being like her could exist.
The woman was quite possibly the closest thing to a Goddess walking the Earth in Donna's, Peter's and quite literally everyone else's eyes. Shoulder blade length hair as dark as the nighttime sky, eyes bluer than the sky on a sunny day and a body that would leave Aphrodite herself jealous, Diana Prince was the very epitome of immortal beauty. Even when dressed in clothes as plain as gray slacks and a blue blazer, her very presence seemed to demand everyone's eyes on her. But something was off about Diana's appearance.
The Amazon Princess looked... tired, for the lack of a better term.
Not on the verge of falling asleep in a nice warm bed with the two people she cherishes above all else in the word kind of tired, but rather a sense of tiredness to the very core of her being. That warm glow in her eyes seemed a little dimmer and the Princess didn't seem to stand as straight as she usually did, there was a slouch to her person, despite the fact Donna couldn't see it. Her movements were also off, slower, weary for the lack of a better term. It reminded Donna of the many people she's taken photos of in the various war torn countries she's been to over the years, how the constant violence, death, fear and uncertainty just slowly grinded the people down and left them... hollow.
Donna watched Diana for a few more seconds before she shifted her weight in the leather seat and created an almost inaudible sound that caused Diana's gaze to snap towards her own.
The exhaustion was gone, replaced briefly with an unreadable look that quickly morphed into surprise, than confusion.
"Donna?" Diana said after staring at her foster daughter for a second "What are you doing still up?"
"Waiting for you" Donna responded with a slight shrug "Figured that since I got most of my sleep in this morning and part of the afternoon, I'd wait up for you this time. Peter's already asleep and no before you ask, he's not upset that you missed our one year anniversary"
It was a simple system that Donna began between the three of them not long after Peter moved in. As nice as their penthouse was, at night it felt empty, barren, and left them feeling a sense of loneliness. And if either of them had a particularly rough day at work, that feeling was intensified a hundredfold. Peter came home late at night the most, mainly because of his duties as Spider-man, with Donna being a close second. Diana tended to keep a more 'stable' schedule, but even she was prone to returning past midnight, such as now.
"Donna... I'm so-" Diana began before donna held a hand up to stop her.
"It's okay Di... really..." Donna gave her a small, sad smile "I know how much crap you gotta get through each day. I was practically glued to your side for three years straight and learned the intricacies of Themyscria's trade relations with half of Europe because of it"
Still, a small part of Donna couldn't help but wonder why Diana couldn't just be a little selfish just this once. While Peter may have acted fine with the fact that Diana would miss their date, Donna knew the wall crawler enough to know that deep down, he was a bit hurt.
Than again, it wasn't like he's missed an important date here and there in the past.
'Like my birthday... or Diana's...' Donna thought as she watched her foster mother make her way towards her, stopping briefly to remove the heels she wore, before sitting down on the chair's ottoman and let out a tired sigh as she ran a hand through her hair to untangle any knots that may have formed.
"Did you two at least have fun?" Diana asked with a hopeful voice.
"We did... though not that kind of fun I was hoping for" Donna said the last part with a small grin before she shrugged "Peter was a little more exhausted than he realized when we got back. Fell asleep before my lips had even made their way halfway down his chest"
"I'm sure..." Diana said with a tired grin as she reached forward and placed a hand on Donna's knee "Perhaps tomorrow we can surprise him"
"Our 'Wonderous Tag Team?'" Donna said with a snort of amusement as she leaned back in the chair and closed her eyes in content as Diana ran a hand across her bare leg. lightly squeezing the muscle of her thighs "I suppose we could"
"We will" Diana said with a grin before it fell and that look of exhaustion returned in her eye "I truly am sorry though. Things today have been more hectic than usual"
"Justice League?" Donna asked with a worried frown.
"No, thankfully, just... issues back home is all" Diana revealed.
"What kind of issues?" Donna probed.
"Nothing too serious, I assure you" Diana said with a quiet laugh "Just the dull grind of being a part of a growing Republic is all"
"I thought we lived in a Monarchy under your mother?" Donna said with a raised brow "The Senate is practically a glorified council of advisors"
"Hippolyta is slowly moving things towards the Senate having more control and say in Themyscira's government" Diana said with a unreadable expression on her face "She's trying to mirror certain aspects of the various European Constitutional Monarchies that already exist without giving up her full power"
"And you fit in because...?" Donna asked with confusion as to why Diana would be involved given that she hasn't been back to Paradise Island in years.
"I've had more first hand experience with the various governments that my mother is attempting to mimic and she required my input on what will work and what can be modified to fit for the Amazons" Diana stated as she reached up to pinch the ridge of her nose "It was... exhausting"
"Just hearing about it is giving me a migraine" Donna joked, causing Diana to giggle.
"It's times like this where I wish I could just say to Hades with it all and take you and Peter and fly far away from everything" Diana teased as she glanced towards the window and stared out at the city with a distant expression on her face "It'd be nice..."
"For all of like ten seconds before we got bored" Donna rolled her eyes in amusement "We can't go a day without hitting something"
"Perhaps" Diana smiled at this before she leaned in and planted a small kiss on Donna's lips, causing the younger woman to moan as she leaned into the embrace and moved to pull Diana to her.
The elder amazon happily obliged and quickly found herself straddling her foster daughter, their bodies pressed tightly against one another, hands roaming one's another's curves while their lips remained firmly planted against one another's. They were both annoyed that their respective attire was keeping their bate skin from one another's, but the taste of another another's lips more than made up for it. After several seconds, the two Amazons broke their embrace and stared at each other with wide, lust filled eyes, their breaths coming in short as their hands continued to roam and grope each other's body.
"I'm starting to think that maybe we should just wake Peter up now" Donna suggested with a coy grin as her hand reached down to cup Diana's rear, causing the older woman to moan before she reached up with one hand and lightly gripped Donna's throat, giving it a light squeeze that caused the former Titan to gasp.
"Maybe I want you to myself, aux micros mia polemistis" Diana purred the last part in Greek as she began to slowly grind herself against Donna's lap as she continued to lightly squeeze the younger Amazon's throat.
"Isos sas thelo kai these dyo, omorfi thea mia" Donna gasped as she tried to lean up and kiss her foster mother's lips before Diana held her back with a smirk.
"Hmm, I suppose I can grant you such a boon" Diana whispered as she leaned in and planted a quick kiss on Donna's lips before she climbed off the panting Amazon's lap and nodded towards the room "Go on, I'll join you both momentarily"
Donna nodded eagerly as she shot up and nearly flew towards the bedroom, leaving Diana to giggle at her foster daughter's eagerness. It was never too hard for her to get the younger Amazon going, and since Peter's involvement with them both, her libido, and Diana was willing to admit even her own, had skyrocketed. She blamed Aphrodite's influence to some degree, though Diana suspected that perhaps Peter's connection to the Web of Life, which involved a fair bit of Tantric Energy, might be another cause.
'Something to consider at a later date' Diana grinned as she followed after the young Amazon and slipped into the room just as Peter began to stir as Donna's lips took his length into her mouth and began to suck...
...
And done.
