Chapter 6: Rival Battles!
Last time, right where we left off. While they headed up the cliff overseeing much of Jusenkyo. Ranma and Blaze are confronted by Ryoga Hibiki, Ranma's rival back at his junior high school, who followed him and his father all over Japan and China alongside his little friend and companion; Azure, to finally fight.
Ranma accepts to honor the challenge. But, not before they fight with their small friends against each other in a battle to which Ryoga hesitated a second before accepting with a smirk as the two small creatures got into their stance for battle.
And now we continue...
Pokémon Battle:
Ranma VS Ryoga!
"Blaze, let's show'm what we got!"
"Azure, let's crush them!"
Both of their small friends got ready as they awaited their commands to fight. Determined to win.
"Blaze, scratch'm!"
"Azure, try to counter with a Tackle attack!"
Blaze ran straight towards Azure, bringing one of his clawed feet for a Scratch. Azure ran straight ahead towards Blaze for a Tackle. The two got close as Blaze Scratches Azure right before getting tackled back.
"Blaze use your Peck attack!"
"Azure dodge it quick and Bite him!"
Blaze went in for a Peck, however. Azure managed to dodge and used Bite on him. He bit at Blaze, who felt pain but fought through it as he broke free.
"Blaze, blind'm with sand!"
"Tackle him again!"
Blaze kicked some sand into Azure's eyes, causing his sight to weaken before jumping back. Azure tried Tackle Blaze but missed.
"Now use a Low Kick!"
Blaze went in and used Low Kick on Azure, dealing good damage. Azure grits in pain. But, brushed it off.
"Mud-Slap him quick!"
Azure used his big tail to scope some mud and launched it at the orange chick. Blaze couldn't react in time as he got hit by the face with Mud-Slap. It hurt him and lowered his accuracy a bit.
"Blaze, use Low Kick again!"
"Azure, dodge it and hit him with Mud-Slap once more!"
Blaze went in for another kick. But, Azure managed to barely dodge and used Mud-Slap once more as it hit Blaze, causing his accuracy to falter more.
"Come on, Blaze remember what we practiced! Use another Low Kick, this time hit'm now!
Blaze struggled to keep his eyes on Azure and managed to deliver a strong Low Kick. The attack hit Azure head-on as he cried out in pain and pushed back.
"Grr... Azure hit'm with your Water Gun attack!"
"Blaze, do another Low Kick!"
Blaze tried to land another Low Kick. But, Azure opened his mouth and shot water out at Blaze. The chick couldn't avoid it and got hit by the attack. It was super effective as it pushed the chick back.
Both Pokémon stood panting as they face each other alongside their partners. They were now getting tired and barely have enough energy to go on. Their partners saw this as they faced them as they decided to end this now.
"Blaze, let's end this! Get up close and use Low Kick one last time!"
"Oh no, you don't! Counter with your water attack once more!"
Blaze struggled a little but manages to get up and rushed towards Azure, while the mudfish-like creature prepared for another Water Gun. As Blaze got close, he mustered up all the strength he could into one powerful Low Kick at his opponent as he fired another Water Gun at him. Both attacks hit their respective targets at the same time as both were sent flying back towards their respective partners. Both struggle to get up and after a few seconds, their legs gave in as they dropped to the ground unconscious.
It was a draw.
Both boys ran towards their fallen partners and brought them close to each other. They sighed and smiled sadly as they took out their balls.
"You did good Blaze, I'm proud of ya. Take a good rest."
"You too Azure, you did your best to fight."
They both praised them as they returned them into their balls. They then faced each other with unreadable expressions as Ryoga walked up to Ranma. They stood opposite to each other by a few inches. It remained like this for a moment in silence. However, the silence was broken as Ryoga spoke to Ranma.
"As much as I hate you, there's no denying that your friend fought fair against Azure. I'll give you that.", Ryoga said as held his hand out to him. Ranma hesitated for a second before returning the gesture with a welcoming smile to the boy.
"Yeah, you too Ryoga. Azure was pretty tough too. So, we cool?", Ranma asked. Hoping they could be friends in the future. Ryoga thought about it for a bit before smiling at the ponytailed boy.
"Yeah. We cool.", But, his smile quickly changed into a frown as says, "But, don't think we're friends yet, I still want our duel. So you better not back out. Got it?", Ryoga said threatening tone towards Ranma. Making sure he honored their duel against each other.
"Alright, alright I promise. Just chill ok?", Ranma said as he held his hands out to calm down Ryoga to which the boy did and nod.
"So Ryoga... got any place to stay, 'cause if you don't then you and Azure can come stay at the Jusenkyo Guide's hut for a while. We'll have our duel this afternoon. So, how about it?", Ranma offered as Ryoga close his eyes and thought about it before giving his answer.
"Sure! Let's go."
"Great! Just follow right behind me okay?", Ranma told him to which Ryoga gave a nod as they soon walked back to the Guide's Hut. Little did he know that he had inadvertently saved a lost soul from being another victim of Jusenkyo.
Ranma and Ryoga soon reached the Guide's hut. Upon nearing the hut, they see the Jusenkyo Guide standing outside his hut. They decide to let their buddies out after their battle a while back as they walked up to him. The Guide turns to see Ranma and Blaze, along with another and blue mudfish-like creature as they approach their way towards him. He smiled as he walked up to the group.
"Nihao, Ranma! How was day of yours?", The Guide asked as he greeted the approaching group.
"It was good, Mr. Li!" "Tor!", Ranma and Blaze replied cheerfully at the Guide, now known as Mr. Li with Ryoga and Azure following right behind them.
"Ranma. Who your friend now?", asked Mr. Li, seeing the two behind them up close. Wondering who the bandana-wearing boy and blue mudfish were.
"This is Ryoga Hibiki and that little guy is his friend Azure. He's an old friend of mine. Sorta. I was wondering if he can stay here for a while. Is it ok, Mr. Li?", Ranma asked looking up at the man with a pleading look. Upon seeing this, the man hesitated for a moment. He stared at Ranma pleading look and gave tired sigh.
"Alright, they can stay. But, they help in getting food. Okay?", Mr. Li said as both boys nodded. Mr. Li smiled and went back inside. The group soon went in and had lunch. Mr. Li had to make two extra servings for Ryoga and Azure to which they happily enjoyed.
After they had lunch, Ranma and Ryoga went out getting to fight. Outside, they stood far with determination in their eyes. Mr. Li stood between the two acting as referee. Blaze and Azure were cheering them on respectively.
Battle:
Ranma Saotome VS Ryoga Hibiki!
"This be duel match between martial artists Ranma Saotome and Ryoga Hibiki. Fighters ready. Set. Begin!"
The two rushed forward, winding their fists back before connecting. With the distance between them closed they attacked.
Ranma sends a right hook to his face. Ryoga doing the same at his chest. The attacks connect dealing a good amount of damage to each other.
The two stepped back as Ranma immediately went in and delivered a couple of punches. Ryoga tried his best blocking them, managing to block three, however. Ranma managed to get in two. Causing him to stagger back before brushing it off.
Ryoga tried sending a kick to his side. But, Ranma dodges it effortlessly as he went for his face with a side kick.
"Gah!", Ryoga brought his palm to his face as it hurt. He winced a bit as the side of his face stung. But still, he fought on.
Meanwhile, with Blaze and Azure. The two continued cheering for their friends. Blaze was cheering hard for Ranma to win, while Azure was encouraging Ryoga to fight on.
[PokéSpeech]
"Tor! toor!" / [That's right! You go, Ranma!], Blaze loudly cheered Ranma on with Azure looking on, worried. Yet, still determined.
"Mud! Mud-kip!" / [Come on Ryoga! Don't give in, you got this!], Azure cried out encouraging Ryoga.
Ryoga hears Azure trying to encourage him and brushed off his pain. Fueling him with determination. He then charged straight at Ranma and delivered a fist straight to his abdomen. Air escaped Ranma's lungs as he's pushed back, landing on his back clutching his abdomen area. The force behind the attack was strong!
Ranma slowly got up and took a defensive stance. Ryoga rushed in once more, this time launching more hard fists. Ranma saw this and did his best to block and dodge as much as possible. He managed to dodge some while blocking to minimize as much damage. Despite the minimized damage, it still hurt a lot as Ranma withstands each blocked fist, wincing in pain.
Ryoga possesses great physical strength. Likely from all the hiking during his search for Ranma and we've now seen it at first hand. His strength is greater compared to Ranma's. However, Ranma had been observing throughout the battle and had observed Ryoga's fighting pattern and, decided to now use it to his advantage.
Ranma stepped back for some distance as this time he was now ready. Ryoga went in another punch. Unfortunately for him. Ranma was prepared this time as he avoids his fist. He then grabs his wrist, twisting it. Thus disarming it. Then uses his left hand, sending several punches to his face. Ryoga grits his teeth, growing frustrated. He retaliates with another punch using his left fist. However, Ranma saw this and quickly disarmed his other fist, holding with his right hand. Finally, Ranma crouches down, still holding his grip on both Ryoga's wrists before jumping, and with all his strength, brought both his legs to Ryoga's head, releasing his grip as Ryoga is sent flying onto the ground unconscious.
Ranma won.
"Alright, I won!", Ranma said triumphantly. He then notices their two small companions running up to them. Blaze ran and jumped straight at him as Ranma catches in his arms, congratulating Ranma on his victory. Azure on the other hand ran up to Ryoga's body and shot water at his face via Water Gun, instantly waking the boy up.
Ryoga looks down at his little friend as he sighs giving him a sad smile. He kneels to his friend as he spoke.
"Well, I did my best. Don't worry, we'll beat them next time, and if not. Well, we'll just try again. How about it?", Ryoga said reassuring the blue mudfish. Azure, while sadly disappointed, shook his head as he flashed him a determined smile at Ryoga. Ryoga did the same as they were determined to beat their respective rival. Now, with their newfound confidence, they walked over towards the celebrating duo. Ranma and Blaze stopped as they faced their rivals.
"Well, you beat me. So congrats.", Ryoga said offering a handshake to him. Ranma smiles accepting his hand.
"Thanks.", Ranma replied. Ryoga then gave a confident smirk.
"Yeah. But, next time I'll beat you.", Ryoga says confidently.
"I'd like to see ya try.", Ranma added. Meanwhile, Blaze and Azure were having their own interaction. Let's see for ourselves!
[PokéSpeech]
"Mud, kip kip mud." / [Gotta admit, your friend is pretty good. But, soon Ryoga will beat him next time, and our next battle won't end in a draw.], Azure said as he smirked. Feeling confident.
"Tot, Torchic Torch" / [Sure thing, 'cause I'll win next time.], Torchic proudly stated.
"Kip!" / [Game on, Flamehead!], Azure replied.
"Chic!" / [You too, Mud-breath!], Blaze remarked.
The two then butt heads as their rivalry for each other grew. They would grow strong together alongside their partners. Now, back to Ranma and Ryoga.
"By the way, I forgot to ask. Where exactly are we Ranma?", Ryoga asked wondering where he is right now. He looked at the ponytailed boy waiting for an answer. Ranma gave a hurt expression, making Ryoga flinched and somewhat confused. Ryoga thought he might've poked into personal issues and was about to apologize until Ranma answered.
"We're in Jusenkyo; Valley of the cursed springs.", Ranma answered forlornly. Ryoga was shocked and now worried. Never has he seen his rival like this. But, one thing that caught his ears.
'Valley of the cursed springs?', Ryoga thought. Wondering what that means as he wanted to know.
"Why is it called that?", Ryoga asked. Ranma hesitated but needed to tell him. Ryoga waited for his answer.
"It's called that cause they springs are cursed.", *Points his finger at the springs*, "Fall into any of them, and you turn into whatever drowned there before. Trust me.", Ranma answered with a stern tone.
"And how would you know?"
"Because I got cursed myself. Falling into the spring of drowned girl.", Ranma answered bitterly. Ryoga was surprised at first. But, got got skeptical. Ranma however saw this and decided to show him. He quickly went inside the hut coming back with a glass of water before dumping it all on his head. Ryoga was wondering what Ranma doing until he was in shock at what happened next.
Standing in his rival's place was a redheaded and pretty girl with the same clothing and blue eyes as his rival. She looked at him with a frown as she spoke.
"Believe me now?", Ryoga was gobsmacked as he saw his very own rival turned into a cute redheaded girl as he struggles to recover and comprehend what just happened. He responded like any other person in this kind of situation.
"WHAT THE HELL?!!!", was the only response he shouted as flocks of birds fly away startled. What happens next?

A/N: Sorry if I haven't been able to post the new chapter. I've just been getting stressed a lot lately and just need some time to think. I've also been emotionally exhausted at times, so I'm sorry again.
Now, let me explain some things here to you all:
I decided to give the guide a name. Because it's gonna get annoying sooner or later. So far he's called Mr. Li.
Ranma, Ryoga, [Spoiler, and [Spoiler] will end up in the Pokémon world in the Hoenn region.
Ranma and co will meet Professor Birch.
The events of the Hoenn Arc will primarily follow the plot of the games with a mix between Emerald and ORAS converging with some elements from the anime. I'll also be adding some original story arcs of my own.
Ranma and co will meet Bruno of Kanto's Elite Four.
Should Genma be in the Pokémon world as well? Leave your suggestions.
I will not do an Orange Islands Arc. That won't exist in this story. Sorry for that!
OCs may appear in this story. But, I'll try to keep it to a minimum.
Brendan and May will appear as characters along with Wally.
