Natasha, Mary Jane, Gwen and Ana all were sitting down in the waiting room outside the medbay. Peter had gone into surgery a little over an hour ago to place the sensors underneath his skin. God bless the universe that Helen Cho was still alive after the snap or they didn't know what they would have done, she is the best suited to do a job like this.
It's been a few days since Peter had made his hand and he spent those days testing it out and making sure there were no bugs in the wiring of the hand and it moved fluidly. With only a couple tweaks to the hand, he was ready to get the surgery.
Gwen and Ana were both sitting together in the same chair waiting while Natasha and Mary Jane were both sitting next to each other and reading their own books. All of them suddenly looked up though when they heard the door open and saw Helen walk out.
Natasha and Mary Jane were the first ones up with Gwen and Ana not that far behind them. Helen offered them all a gentle smile, "He'll be ok. He's resting right now. I told him to sleep but we all know that he won't do that. He's in his room reading a book, you all can go and see him if you want." She said. Natasha smiled at the other woman and extended her hand out for the woman to shake.
"Thank you Helen, seriously, we don't know what we would've done without you." Nat smiled at the doctor.
Helen waved her off, "It's no problem, out of all my patients I've had, it's a pleasure to have Peter, even if I hate to see him hurt. He's the most polite person I know while visiting the doctors. He's much better than Tony that's for sure. That man can't sit still to save his life." Helen rolled her eyes causing Natasha to softly chuckle.
"Yeah well, Peter doesn't like bed rest a lot so he's probably gonna try to escape within the next five minutes."
"I'd give it two, and that's me being generous." Helen smirked.
With that said the four women made their way over to Peter's room to see how he was doing. When they made it there, and pushed the door open, Peter was sitting down on the bed with his book open.
Mary Jane's pretty sure it's a book by Machiavelli.
As soon as they all entered, he looked up and smiled at them all. He placed a bookmark on the page he was at and set the book on the table to the side.
"Hey." He said as he waved to them.
With his right hand...
Mary Jane walked over to him and sat down on his right side and picked up his hand and ran her hand across it.
Peter smiled at her, "I can feel that, more than I already could." He said. Mary Jane leaned down to place a kiss on the back of his hand before placing another kiss on his cheek.
"I'm glad." She said. Just then, the other three women walked over and sat down. Natasha on his left side and his sisters at the feet of his bed.
"How're you feeling?" Natasha asked, running her hands through his hair, smirking at him when he leaned into her touch. His sisters silently snickered at him when they saw that, causing the young man to open his eyes and glare at them.
"Have anything to share with the class you two?"
"Nope, nothing. How about you Gwen?"
"No, nothing that I can remember." She smirked right back at Ana causing Peter to roll his eyes.
"To answer your question, I feel fine. It's like I actually have my hand back. I honestly can't tell the difference." Peter admitted.
"That's good. Have you given the blueprints to the construction team yet?" Mary Jane asked with barely concealed excitement in her voice.
"Yes, yes I did. The whole cabin should be done in a few weeks, depending on how the weather is. I heard we were gonna get a bad storm in a few days so they might wait until that blows over first." Peter said, shrugging his shoulders.
"What about your dog, hmm?" Ana smirked at him.
"Ohh don't you worry, I've been looking for the perfect breed and I think I've finally found it." Peter said.
"Well? Are you gonna tell us or just keep us in suspense?" Ana glared playfully at her brother.
"The Siberian Husky."
Gwen and Ana snorted while Mary Jane tried to stifle her giggles behind her hand. Natasha smirked at him with amused eyes, "If that isn't the most Russian breed of dogs, I don't know what is."
Peter rolled his eyes, "Yeah whatever, I like the husky ok? I also think I have a potential seller. There's this guy who breeds dogs a little bit up north towards the border of Canada and he had a pack of husky's that were just born a little while ago. He's found homes for most of them except for the little runt of the pack. I've seen a picture of her and she's so adorable. She has one blue eye and another one that's brown." Peter rambled on and started to gesture with his hands, not noticing how all the women in the room were looking at him fondly.
Natasha pulled her hand out of the young man's hair and placed a kiss on the side of his head, "She sounds perfect. I'm sure she'll fit right in." The spy smiled at her son.
"Oh she definitely will. Apparently, the breeder said that she's a fighter. There was this pitbull that was being mean to the others there and this little puppy, who isn't even 2 months old, goes up to the older dog and yips at him and starts to bite his legs."
"So she's a fighter?"
"Oh yeah, big time."
Mary Jane smiled, "Sounds just like her father." She winked at him causing Peter to roll his eyes.
"Yes haha, you're so funny."
—————
Later that night, Peter walked into one of the meeting rooms and found his mother hunched over some papers with a hologram of Brazil pulled up. He frowned before he slowly made his way over to her. Making some noise so she can tell that he's there and not someone trying to kill her.
"Hey, what're you doing?" He asked somewhat hesitantly. The look on her face right now was slightly concerning him at the moment. She looked...heartbroken, angry...hopeless.
He's never seen his mother look hopeless before...
She slightly turned to him and he realized that she had tears in her eyes which only caused his concern for her to grow. She quickly wiped them off her face before clearing her throat.
"Aren't you supposed to be in bed resting? What're you doing out here, you need to fully heal." She said, still staring at the hologram but he could also hear genuine concern in her voice.
"Nah, I'm fine, healing factor and all let's me do more than the average human could...What...What are you doing here? There are no missions that have to be taken at the moment. Everyone is still trying to get their own government in working order."
"Something...personal..."
Peter narrowed his eyes at the screen. He saw some reports about some murder that had happened last night. Apparently a trafficking rink of something like that. But that wasn't what caught his attention, what caught his eye was the blurry photo of a figure on top of a building with a bow and arrow.
There was only one man he knew that used a bow and arrow...
"Clint?"
She nodded her head and looked back to the picture of her best friend in sadness. She doesn't know why he was doing this, or better yet she had no idea why he didn't bother to check in with any of them. They all had thought he was gone too.
Apparently he wasn't...
"What're we gonna do?" He asked.
"You, are not doing anything. I'm gonna see if I can talk to him and reason with him to come back to the compound. He would have never left his family to go kill people, which means that his family..." she didn't need to finish her sentence, he knew what had happened.
Clint's family was gone...
Which caused said man to go off the rails...
Not that Peter could judge, he sometimes gets pretty brutal.
"No, I'm coming with. You need someone to watch your back. I'm not gonna just let you go by yourself." Peter said to her.
"Peter you may almost be an adult, but don't doubt for a second that I won't ground your ass once I get those papers." Natasha said firmly.
"You're gonna pull the mother card huh? Well I'm not gonna let you go there by yourself, end of discussion...I've lost everything in my life before, I don't think I could handle it if I ever lost my mother again." Peter said the last part in barley above a whisper. Natasha looked over to him and her eyes softened a little bit before she brought him in for a side hug.
"I know, ok, I understand where you're coming from but what kind of mother would I be if I let my injured son follow me to try and hunt down his crazy uncle, hmm? I promise Clint would never hurt me, you have nothing to worry about." She said. Peter sighed and laid his head on her shoulder and relaxed even more when she laid hers on top of him.
"I know that, I'm not doubting that, it's just we all lost a lot recently. And, I don't wanna lose you either."
"You'll never lose me маленький паук, I promise." She said as she placed a kiss on top of his head. Peter sighed, knowing that this wasn't a battle that he would be winning anytime soon.
"Alright, but if you don't catch him, every other time this happens I come with you. No arguing, no trying to get me to stay, nothing. I go with you, ok?" Peter said. He could tell that she wanted to say no to the topic but she knew that she had no real reason to keep him here if this were to happen again. So, she begrudgingly agreed with him.
"Ok, fine. If I can't get Clint to come home this time, you can come with me next time to help, I promise."
"Good, I'm glad we came to an agreement." Peter said cheekily to her, causing her to roll her eyes and lightly smack his shoulder.
"You keep talking back to me, and I really will ground you when I get those papers." She said seriously but with an ounce of playfulness to it.
"Yeah I know you would, but I don't think you actually will. Not even you are unaffected by my puppy eyes." He smiled up at her, which only caused her to narrow her eyes down at him.
"You're really pushing your luck."
"Ehh, I do that a lot too."
The two of them stood there in each other's arms for a few minutes, just soaking in the warmth from the other. After a few minutes, Peter decided to speak up.
"So, when are you leaving?"
"As soon as I can. I was gonna come find you and tell you I was leaving after I was done here." She replied.
"So Brazil?"
"Yeah, I wanna see if he left behind any clues that I can follow and see where he went."
"If you're not back within four days, I'm tracking you down and I don't care if you ground me for life when we get back." He said, which caused her to laugh.
"Alright, four days. I promise I'll be back."
"Alright, stay safe." He said pulling away and smiling at her. Her eyes softened at him before she pulled him forward and brought him into a hug.
"Always." She whispered into his ear.
————————
"So what's the situation?" Peter said as he landed on top of a building. He wasn't wearing as much as he usually would. After a lot of thought, he decided to hang up the suit unless he was patrolling around during the day. Instead, at night he put on a pair of black jeans with black combat boots on with a leather jacket which was a really dark maroon color, it almost looked black with how dark the jacket was.
He still used his powers but he had a bandanna he put around his face when he fought so people couldn't see his true identity. But he only used his webs if he absolutely had to.
Changing his outfit also allowed him to carry more weapons during the night, it made him feel more comfortable.
Tonight, he decided to go on patrol around the city to see if he could catch some bad people. Luckily for Peter, Matt had caught wind of one of Otto's team of thugs that were trying to take advantages of stores and rob them for supplies.
So, he decided to met up with the lawyer in question to hunt the men down and hopefully take down Otto and put him back in jail.
"We got a warehouse full of men walking around with guns, looking out every entrance into the building. There are snipers on the four corners of the building so we're gonna have to take the stealth approach."
"Bitch please, I was born stealthy." Peter said before pulling up his bandanna and jumping off the roof to make his way over to the first sniper outpost.
He quietly crawled up the side of the tower and crawled into the window while the man was looking through the opposite window. He then crawled right above the man and waited a few seconds before jumping into action. He dropped down and wrapped his legs around the man's neck and started to squeeze the breath out of the man. The sniper started to struggle so Peter twisted him around and brought them both down onto the ground. He tightened up his legs once more and waited until he got knocked out before removing his legs from the man's neck.
God, why do people never look up...
He then webbed him up and crawled out the window when the coast was clear and went to deal with the other snipers. While he was dealing with them, he caught sight of Matt a few times taking out some thugs that were outside the building.
When the both of them were done, he landed next to Matt at the front door of the warehouse. He looked over to Matt and realized he was frowning.
"What? What is it?" He asked.
"I think they have two hostages." Matt said in a low voice.
Shit...
The two quickly made their way into the building and silently fought through all the thugs in the building that were just wandering around until they got to the main part of the building.
Where they could hear the crazy doctor talking to someone else. Someone who definitely was not a thug.
Peter peaked around the corner and what he saw made his eyes widen. In front of him he could see that Officer Yuri and Officer Davis were strapped down onto chairs with gags in their mouths, glaring at the octopus man.
"What would Otto need from two police officers?" Matt asked barley above a whisper. Peter shook his head, having no idea what the man wanted. A small part of him was glad to see Yuri though. She's one of the only ones that have helped Spider-Man during the day, along with Officer Davis a couple times.
Peter reacted faster than Matt, Otto was his villain and he would not have the only two cops that have been nice to him suffer the consequences just because the man was mad at him.
Peter quickly slid into the room and started to fight off some of the men there with his bare hands while Matt covered his six. Otto and the two officers looked up and saw the two of them but Peter could tell that none of them recognized him so that was good.
Matt and Peter quickly took out the thugs before moving on to the crazed doctor. With his enhanced senses though and Matt's elevated senses they were blocking and dodging all of the man's advances on them, he couldn't even get a hit on the two men.
In no time at all, Peter and Matt were quickly over powering the mad doctor. It probably also helped that Peter was snapping off all the guys fake arms, rendering him pretty useless.
After another minute of fighting though, Matt was a little bit dazed from a previous hit to the head and Otto was about to hit him over the head with his last remaining arm but Peter reacted quicker. He shot his webs at the doctor and slammed him into the ground before walking over, snapping off the arm, and webbing the rest of him to the floor.
He turned back around and saw the shocked looked on Yuri and Davis' face and he internally sighed. Great, now they know what his new outfit looked like at night.
"Daredevil, check the rest of the warehouse, make sure we didn't miss anything." He said. Matt nodded before he quickly left Peter with the two police officers. He walked up to them and ripped the gags out of their mouths first before untying them both.
Yuri rubbed her right wrist with her opposite hand before looking up at him with a raised eyebrow, "So Spidey, this is your new getup? I thought you were dusted like the rest of them." She said.
"Nope, had to deal with an injury. Took quite awhile to heal up though." He said, holding up his fake metal hand and showing it off to the two in question. He could see how their eyes widened in surprise before quickly snapping out of it.
"Well we're glad you're alright Spider-Man. My son will be pleased to know you're alive." Davis said with a smile. Peter raised his eyebrow at him.
"Your son's a fan?"
"He's not just a fan, he idolizes you. He sees what you do around the city and wants to be just like you. I'm pretty sure all he talks about is Spider-Man." Davis admitted. Peter didn't know what to do with that information. On one hand, he was really touched that children looked up to him, but on the other side they didn't know what he really did when the sun went down, all the bad that he does.
If New York knew the real Spider-Man, they wouldn't look up to him anymore, that's for sure.
"Well, I'm honored he thinks so highly of me. And to answer your question Yuri, let's just say it's my way of honoring a friend. Only at night though, so people don't think I'm a new vigilante." Peter said, which wasn't exactly a lie. He may have been thinking of Bucky when he made his new outfit. He wanted to remember one of his family members so he just went through with the idea.
"Well, we appreciate the help here. Tell Daredevil we said thanks too, we'll call this in from here and wait till the rest arrive." Yuri replied.
"If you don't mind me asking, how'd you find yourself in this mess anyways?" Peter said as he crossed his arms across his chest.
"We were following a lead on Otto and we got overrun by his thugs. One thing lead to another and they brought us here, he started his monologue and then you showed up." Davis said.
"Yeah, sounds like the classic villain, always with their monologues." Peter rolled his eyes, causing both Yuri and Davis to chuckle.
"You might want to get out of here before the rest of the force gets here. Thanks for the help again Spider-Man." Yuri nodded her head.
"No problem Officer, just doing my job." Without another word, he walked out and made his way to the building opposite the warehouse where he knew Matt was waiting.
"Friends of yours?"
"Yeah, pretty much the only police officers that I've met that don't hate me." Peter said as he pulled his bandanna down and let it hang down from his neck, showing off his smirk directed at Matt.
The man rolled his eyes, "You've met Mahoney and Knight before, and they're cops." Matt said.
"Technically Mahoney is the only cop, Knight is more of a detective." Peter replied.
"Touché."
Peter sighed as he walked to the other side of building to look out at the city, "You know, I still can't believe both of them are gone too. All the vigilantes, all the X-Men and over half the Avengers, gone."
"There's nothing we can do now Pete. We just gotta, try to keep living for them. Try to move on." Matt said as he walked up next to the younger man.
Peter scoffed, "Yeah, easier said than done."
"Amen to that."
"Shut the hell up you christian fuck."
————————
"Are we there yet?"
"For the last time, we'll get there when we get there! If you keep asking me every five minutes, I'll take longer on purpose!" Peter exclaimed to his sister, causing all the other occupants of the vehicle to laugh at his misfortune.
Everyone was in the car, driving to the newly built cabin that had just been finished. In the car there was Steve in the passenger seat since everyone else was fighting over it, then in the middle seats there was Natasha, Mary Jane and Sharon, and in the way back Ana and Gwen sat, complaining about how long the drive has been so far.
"But we've been in the car for hours!!" Ana exclaimed, dramatically flopping down on top of Gwen, causing her girlfriend to laugh.
"We've been driving for an hour and a half." Peter deadpanned at his sister.
"Well it's an hour longer than I expected."
"I told you the cabin was out of the city. It takes longer than an hour to get outside of the city from Manhattan incase you forgot. You're lucky that I went to get the SUV from the compound while you all met me at Steve and Sharon's or you would've been stuck in the car for over two hours." Peter said.
"Ugh, I hate you sometimes."
"The feelings are mutual, I assure you." He rolled his eyes at his sisters behavior before concentrating back on driving.
"Hey, don't be mean to your sister, she just wants to know when we'll be there." Mary Jane said with a teasing smirk.
"Don't you start with me too Em, who's side are you on?" Peter asked, looking into his mirror and coming face to face with five sets of smirking women.
"Not yours, obviously." She replied.
Peter sighed and turned to Steve for a quick second, "We are heavenly outnumbered here Stevie-boy. Lots of estrogen in the family and not enough testosterone." He said, causing Steve to huff and nod his head, "Damn right Queens."
"Says the man who bought a female dog." Natasha said with a raised eyebrow.
"There was only one husky left and she was a girl, so sorry that I wanted to give the poor pup a home since no one wanted to take her." Peter responded.
"Hey, when do we get to see the dog? You haven't even told us what you named her." Sharon said.
"Because it's supposed to be a surprise. God, you guys just take the fun out of everything. You'll see her, she's at the house being looked after by Tony and Pepper. They're already there waiting for us." Peter said.
With that said, the rest of the ride was in peaceful silence. About fifteen minute later, everyone could see the cabin in the distance and their excitement grew. Even from this far away they could see it looked huge.
After another minute of driving, Peter pulled up to the gate and rolled the window down. He placed his hand on the scanner next to the locked gate and waited until he heard the click before taking his hand off of it. He slowly pulled up the driveway and parked right outside the giant garage, to the right of where Tony's car was parked.
Peter parked the car and shut it off. They all got out of the SUV and started to walk up to the front door.
"I'll show you the inside first then after everything inside I'll show you the back. Which, there is a pool, a dog area and a kid area."
"And why did you add in a kid area?" Gwen asked with a smirk.
"Incase you forgot, Tony and Pepper are gonna have a kid in 8 months and they have a area to themselves in this cabin too. They said they'd probably stay here like a week out of every month so when the kid is born, they can bond with the rest of us. You and Steve have an area here too Sharon, just incase you were wondering." Peter said as he climbed up the stairs.
As soon as they walked in, they heard cute little barks coming from what appeared to be the living room. They all started to make their way to the noise and were met with a cute sight.
Pepper and Tony were sitting down on the carpet near the couches with the cute little husky running around them and playing. As soon as they entered, Pepper and Tony looked up and smiled.
"I just have to say that, kid, this dog is fucking adorable. You really did well picking her out. She has as much energy as the fucking energizer bunny. She has not stopped moving around, I swear." Tony said.
As soon as the little husky caught sight of Peter though, she bounded over to the young man and started to bark and run around his legs. Peter smiled and kneeled down to get closer to the pup and picked her up.
"Hey baby, yes daddy's home. You're favorite spider mutant is home." Peter gushed as he brought the little pup up to his chest and cradled her against him, stroking her back with his metal hand.
The rest of his family smiled warmly at him, watching him interact with the little puppy warmed up all their hearts. It's always a great thing to see Peter relax and recently he hasn't been able to do that. So seeing it happen now, thanks to the new member of their family, makes them all really happy.
"So, are you gonna tell me our daughters name?" Mary Jane asked with a smile and a raised eyebrow as she crossed her arms.
Peter looked back at everyone and smiled, "Sonia."
"Sonia? Why does that name sound familiar?" Ana asked with a raised eyebrow.
"I-Uh, I used to tell stories about her to the two of you. She was...umm, she was my mother's mom. She used to tell me stories about her in our cell. Used to say how her mother was, the best at like, everything. I remember the look in her eyes when she told me all about her, the look of absolute love, radiating out, pouring into her words." Peter said softly, looking down at the little dog. Everyone stayed quiet, not wanting to interrupt Peter in his story.
"When...w-when Semenov shot my mother, I'd...think back to all the stories she told me when I was alone. It gave me a sense of...happiness, knowing that my mother loved someone so much, and that person loved her back. But those memories of her mother, they always stayed with me throughout all the years. They are the only stories that I fully remember anymore." Peter huffed. He quickly snapped out of it though and looked up into the eyes of his family and they all were looking at him with small smiles.
"Umm, anyways the umm, the English version of the name is Sophia so, if you wanna call her that it's also cool but I was-" Peter's rambling was cut off when Mary Jane walked up to him and place one hand on his shoulder and the other in Sonia's fur.
"Sonia is a beautiful name." She smiled up at him, causing him to smile back.
Peter cleared his throat before putting all his attention back into the puppy. Sonia looked up to him and tilted her head to the side, causing him to smile at the puppy.
"You know soon enough, you won't even be able to fit in my arms anymore. You'll be this giant husky that will still want to be picked up like a baby, won't you?" He asked her, not expecting a response.
"Ohh, you're gonna for sure baby that dog so much. You'll be buying new toys for her every week." Gwen commented, causing the rest of the family to nod their head in agreement.
"Hey, how dare you accuse me of getting my dog toys...toys that she will no doubt need." Peter fake gasped and put his hand that wasn't holding Sonia onto his heart.
"Yeah, we all know it's true drama Queen, stop trying to deny it." Ana said.
"Yeah yeah, sure, whatever." Peter rolled his eyes as he put down Sonia and walked over to the middle of the room.
He looked at everyone to address them, "So, you all want that tour now?" He asked. They all nodded their heads and waited for the young man to lead them and show them everything the cabin had to offer.
Sonia following after Peter every step of the way...
—————————
Peter silently snuck around the corridors of the upper penthouse of a skyscraper in Hightown Madripoor.
He got a lead on a certain baddie crossing the sea and heading over to the island of Madripoor, thinking he'd be able to hide from the Vigilantes of New York if he fled the country.
Oh how wrong he was...
Now Peter didn't mean to get caught up in all this shit while on the island, but one thing lead to another and now he was sneaking around the Power Broker's place of residence. Who apparently was like the King of Madripoor.
He was also the person who had been sending drugs over to New York last summer. He's intercepted a few of his dealings since then but ever since a month before the decimation, he's been oddly quiet for some reason.
But after he had taken care of his guy, he got wind of certain people causing trouble in Lowtown so he made his way over there and he came face to face with kids being dragged off, shoved into cars and shipped back over to HighTown.
Peter couldn't let that happen now could he?
Which is how he found himself sneaking around the upper penthouse of the Power Broker. Which happens to be where those kids were dragged off to.
Peter quickly hid behind the corner when a guard was walking up to him. As soon as the guy turned the corner, Peter used his knife, covered the man's mouth, and slit his throat, dragging him back over towards what appeared to be a closet so he could hide the body.
He quickly disposed of his body and made sure his bandanna was firmly over his mouth and nose before he moved on to were the guy came from.
He soon came to what appeared to be an office door. He reached into one of his suit pockets and took out his glasses and placed them on his face.
"SCARLETT, give me a scan of the room. I wanna know how many people are in there." He whispered. She didn't give him a verbal response but she did switch the vision to thermal.
He counted at least four guards, one guy who was standing in front of them all with his hands behind his back so Peter assumed he was the leader or Power Broker, whatever they're calling him, and he saw how there was one person on the ground kneeling, she was definitely a girl and she appeared to be the hostage.
Peter reached down towards his belt and took out his pistol before walking up to the door. He quickly kicked down the door and shot the four guards within the first 5 seconds. Being so shocked, the Power Broker had no time to react before Peter had his gun pointed right at his forehead, waiting to pull the trigger. When Peter looked at the man, he froze a little in shock with who it was.
Ross...
It was a good thing that he was wearing his bandanna or else Ross would for sure have recognized him.
He cocked the gun and his glare intensified at the man, "One wrong move, and this bullet, goes through your skull."
Ross narrowed his eyes at Peter, "Do you know who I am?" He asked, arrogantly.
"The former Secretary of State, Thaddeus Ross, suspected victim of the snap but obviously that's a lie, since you're standing in front of me. Also, you appear to be the Power Broker." He said, not taking the gun off of the man's forehead.
"Impressive detective work Romanov." Ross smirked at him. Peter narrowed his eyes at the man and pressed the gun closer to his head.
"Oh please, not a lot of people could successfully infiltrate my fortress without being seen. Seeing as you're the only male with that certain...skill set, I put two and two together."
"Oh look, he's not as dumb as he looks." Peter rolled his eyes and moved the gun to one hand, making sure it was still firmly placed against the older man's forehead, and took off his glasses and pushed down his bandanna, showing off his face.
"Are you here to kill me?"
"Yes, I am. You threatened my family, you fake your death, you sell drugs over to bad people in New York, kidnap children and you were about to execute that child there. I'll be doing the world a favor by killing you off."
"If you must, then I won't stop you...but know this, he who kills the Power Broker, becomes him." Ross said which caused Peter to halt for a minute.
"Elaborate. Now."
"Madripoor can't be without a leader of some sort. Right now, I'm at the top of the board, nothing happens on this island without me knowing, I hold absolute power. If someone were to kill me, they would have that power."
"Yeah? Well it looks like you're abusing your power at the moment. I've been here for less than a day and all I've seen is people on the streets, begging for food, shelter and water. You're not doing shit for this island. I'm doing it a favor getting rid of you."
"If you kill me, you'll have to step up and take the mantle of the Power Broker. There's no way around it Romanov." Ross smirked. A gunshot quickly silenced the man as his lifeless body fell to the floor and a pool of blood started to form underneath him.
"I think I'll manage better than you." Peter said before he turned around and came face to face with the kid who was still on the ground. Peter knelt down to get to her level and looked her in the eyes.
"Hey, what's your name kid?" He asked gently, hoping he was being soothing to the scared girl.
After a couple seconds of silence, she spoke up, "Karli."
Peter hummed, "Nice name kid, now, mind telling me what happened for him to get mad at you." He said gesturing to the dead body of Ross.
"...I tried to steal some food for my friends. No one has helped us since...it...happened, I was just looking out for them...please don't hurt me, Power Broker." She said. Peter grimaced at the name, but still continued on.
"I'm not gonna hurt you kid, I'm gonna help this island get back on its feet, see what I can do with this...power I have now." Peter said nodding to her. He got up off the floor and offered Karli his hand. She took it hesitantly before offering him a small smile.
He had no idea what being the Power Broker would mean for him in the future, but he wanted to help out this island as much as he could, so he'd gladly take the power if it meant he could do it faster.
God, what the hell did he just get himself into?
One things was for sure was that he'd not be telling anyone about this at all, not even Mary Jane.
He wanted her nowhere near this mess...
