Fox McCloud was in his Quarters, suiting up, and looking over the only weapon that he was going to take into the Planet, being his Blaster.
He was relieved that he gets to keep his Blaster, so he wasn't sad about the restrictions, but he was still feeling worried that he was going to possibly fight some stronger Dinosaurs that would require those restricted weapons, or the charged shots from his blaster.
But Pepper said so himself, those weapons were bound to cause more harm than good to the mission that he's taking. So he was ensuring that he is obeying that rule, just so he won't get hurt by the consequences of going in all-guns-blazing. But he was also doing some tinkering on his blaster, making sure that it'd pack some punch against the Sharpclaws that he was going to face off against, while also keeping some instant MRE's in his pack, to eat up when he gets to the Planet.
Even though he did hear from the preliminary scans that the Planet was fertile. But he'd rather not chance finding any food in places where there could be none that are readily available, like in the snow places. And on top of that, there could be some food that could've expired, or could be poisonous too. And he ain't going to risk it.
Sure the MRE's aren't the tastiest food, but he'd rather put his life in them, then risk a bad stomachache, or getting poisoned by the food of the Planet. But he still holds out hope that the food he can come across on the Planet, could be delicious, and most importantly, edible, as he got them packed, before doing some more last minute tinkering.
As he did however, he was thinking back to his members that he had in his team with him. Especially Falco Lombardi. A pheasant with blue feathers, that was also a great Pilot that he was friends with, even if there was traces of rivalry between them too.
And yet, he left the team, after their little mission on Titania, that involved Katt, and her team, the Hot Rodders. When they were at each other's throats throughout their mission. Sure they get on each other's nerves before, even throughout the Lylat Wars, but they never fought, especially while they fought Star Wolf, and when they end up fighting Andross.
But in that mission, they actually fought each other to where they got into a dogfight in the sky of Titania. But it was mainly due to the corrupt Captain Shears' deception that led to it. Thankfully, they eventually saw through it, and worked with the Hot Rodders, to stop Captain Shears as he tries to resurrect the notorious Andross via cloning.
Even though they failed to stop him from doing so, and Andross was revived, they still stopped him, and killed Andross again while the Hot Rodders fought Shears' forces, and a Gorgas, while Falco saved them from the latter, after their dogfight.
After that, even though Shears got crushed by Andross in the crossfire, and though he was court marshalled once the Cornerian Force learned about what he's done on Titania, it is said that he still lives himself. And it was rumored that he was arrested somewhere on a Planet, or has perished somewhere.
But still, after the mission, Falco left the team, saying that he 'would like to go it alone for a while', while also telling Fox to tell Katt, and her best friend, Cool, to retire, and disband the Hot Rodders. Which they did after the mission ended in their success. Fox was worried that the dogfight played a part in him leaving, but he didn't seem to be resentful of him as he left. (Which he wasn't, as he did acknowledge how good Fox is, as a pilot, while he was repairing his Arwing in the desert.)
As for what he thinks of him leaving, he was disappointed that Falco left, but he didn't stop him. After all, if Falco wanted to do him, and go his own way, then Fox doesn't mind.
Right now though, a part of himself was wishing that Falco was still part of the team so that he would have a partner that would be on the ground with him, as they save the Planet together. Sure they'd end up snarking, and bickering, but Fox was confident that it wouldn't end in a fist fight between them, since they did snark at each other during their battle against Andross.
And not once did it almost result in a dogfight. At least before their fight against Shears. (And he doubts that it'd be like that, after Shears' defeat, either. At least if Falco never left.)
But Fox didn't dwell on that anymore, as he resumed his suiting up, putting his blaster in the holster once he was done, while making sure that it was charged up for at least up to seventy-five standard shots, or at least forty charged shots, or twenty five overcharged shots, (The latter of which, he's saving for the strongest foe.) before needing to be recharged again. (Which would take twenty minutes if it is empty. Which would be too long in a shootout with his foes.) Before walking out of his quarters after putting a mobile charger in his pack, to the direction of the Hanger, where the Arwings are.
"I'm almost ready to launch to Dinosaur Planet. Is my Arwing ready?" He asked into his comm.
"It's all ready." Slippy's voice responded. "It just needs you in it, and you're off. Just be careful of the chunks of the Planet on the way there."
"I'll keep them in mind." Fox said as he walked to his Hanger where the Arwings were.
All while along the way, he looked out at the windows, at the Planet, still feeling surprised at the chunks of it that are missing from the Planet, being four of them, each of which, looked like they were still habitable, much to his surprise. Along with a field of debris that also surrounded the planet, thus giving the team a reason to keep the Great Fox in orbit instead of landing, for obvious reasons. But at least the Arwings are small enough to maneuver through the field, with little problem.
Only one was going to be used for now though, as he was riding it to the Planet in question, where he is going to land in Thorntail Hollow to find the Queen, according to his objective. After that, should be where he gets guided further along by her, along with the other Dinosaurs, through the Planet. Which shouldn't be too hard.
Other than the fact that he's probably going to be fighting the Sharpclaws on foot, throughout the whole Planet, among other problems, as he journeys on. But even though he's an ace Pilot, he is a competent fighter in his own right, on foot. He did get into some scrapes in the past, and was taught to fight to protect himself out of his Arwing, from his father. Now if only he was a martial arts master himself.
But again, he was on his way to his Arwing, as he was now in his Hanger, where he was now boarding his Arwing, and was about to fly it out of the Hanger, and into orbit of the Planet.
"Ready to launch! Are you ready to enter Dinosaur Planet?" Peppy's voice asked from the comm.
"As I'll ever be, Peppy." Fox said, going over the controls on his Arwing.
"Good. Just be careful Fox. And don't hesitate to alert us if you need anything." Peppy said.
"Will do." He said as the Arwing was preparing for launch after the cockpit doors closed, and sealed his canopy. Then after some charging, the Arwing was now launched out of the Hanger as he was now on his way.
Fox rolled the Arwing once, feeling glad to be back in the cockpit again, even if it is for a little while, as he circled the Great Fox a few times, getting a feel for his Arwing again, before he then flew his way to the debris, intending to move around them on his way to the Planet.
He kept his guard up, even if he was going to be celebrating a bit at the fact that he was back in the cockpit of his Arwing as he was now approaching the debris field, before entering it, while searching around for any hazard that tries to destroy him.
The first of which, was obviously a bunch of small asteroids that tried to block his path. But Fox knew that he can destroy them with his lasers, as he proceeded to do so to them, blasting a path for him to go through.
But the small asteroids were just the beginning, as he also saw the more larger ones. Luckily for Fox, the space around them was clear due to their size, so he merely flew around them instead of shooting them too. (Since it'd take a lot of laser power to do such a thing. Which his Arwing lacks.) All while showing his skill that was forged from his time in Meteo.
Before leveling out his Arwing, and moving onwards, while seeing the other pieces of the crust. It could've been all clear, but he suddenly saw some red dots on his radar as his radar also beeped. Warning him of enemies.
Sure enough, he saw some enemy drones that tried to hide in the rubble. Each of which, Fox recognized as Venomian made.
"What they doing here?!" Fox thought, but he merely shot back when the ships tried to shoot him down. Luckily for Fox, they made no effort to track their shots on him as they just shot at him, leaving him with room to dodge. Fox felt that they were either drone pilots, or just plain bad pilots in general. Either way, he blasted them to dust, and continued onwards.
There was some more of them that tried to blast him through the rest of the flight, along with some more small asteroids, but he dodged them, and blasted the ships back, as he continued onwards until he was all the way through the field of asteroids, and was on his way to the Planet. But not before he also came across some mines that he saw near some of the flat crusts With none of those Venomian ships following him, he decided to open his comm to the Great Fox.
"Hey Peppy, Slippy, did any of you see those fighters?"
"Yeah, I did Fox." Peppy responded. "Those cannot be that Planet's ships, cause otherwise, I thought Pepper told us that the world was stone aged."
"Those are old models from Venom, that I reckon, was given some refitting with mechanical pilots. Or if not, then those pilots are awful at their jobs. But why would anybody from Venom have an interest here?" Fox asked.
"Beats me. Maybe they're just table scraps from seven years ago." Slippy responded.
"Maybe. But still, keep your sensors active, and make sure to report in to me once you find something off. I have a bad feeling about this." He said.
"Sure thing Fox." Slippy said.
All while Fox proceeded to fly straight to the Planet with nothing stopping him. And he knew of one place to go in that Planet, being Thorntail Hollow, as he guided his Arwing into the atmosphere.
His Arwing went through the Atmosphere of the planet as he searched for a large enough clearing in Thorntail Hollow. Before making a landing when he was able to see one. The aircraft was levitating downwards into the ground. Once on the ground, his cockpit opened up, allowing Fox to exit the Arwing.
The moment Fox was going to exit the Arwing, he ended up feeling how warm the air was on his fur. Which was a pleasant feeling compared to the harsh colds of Fichina. It certainly was more warmer than Corneria, especially on the coast, where even that, was cooler, and dryer than this area, that's for sure, at least in Fox's eyes. After exiting the Arwing, he looked around, and got surprised at the sight of ThornTaill Hollow, and how untouched it looked, despite the calamity that was plaguing the Planet.
In fact, if he were to ignore the sections of the Planet in the sky, he'd assume that the Planet is fine, and in no danger. Just calm, and serene, and peaceful. Open for the 'We wish you were here.' images to send to his friends back on Corneria.
But he didn't ignore the chunks, as he still knew the Planet was in danger. So he just looked around, noticing that there was a bunch of dinosaurs in the Hollow. All of whom, had some spikes on their backs, and their tails, giving them the name ThornTails. Which would give reason as to why his current location is called such.
"Hey there. Can you direct me to where the Queen of the EarthWalkers, could be?" He asked one of the ThornTails that he walked to.
The Saurian language, that Fox was unable to understand without the Translater, as the only response the Thorntail gave, while pointing to the direction where a square door was.
Fox didn't understand what the ThornTail was saying, much to his dismay, as he was expecting the Translator to turn on at the time. He still thanked the ThornTail for the help in pointing them to the right direction, before walking off. Before contacting Slippy.
"Hey Slip, is the translation module ready yet?" He asked, annoyed that it wasn't finished yet.
"It's almost ready, Fox. I got the program up and running, but I need to give it a mod to allow you to have your PDA translate it on the spot. That way, you won't have to wait for the computer to interpret it, and send it back for you." Slippy said.
"Well, I hope that it won't be a long wait." He said.
"It won't. I'm working on it as we speak. Until then, I'll translate for you. Oh, and he said that the Queen is still close by, even though she could be caught by the Sharpclaws." He said, translating the language for Fox.
"Got it. Fox out." Fox said, ending the call. Before he then looked around.
All while making sure to keep his hand on the Blaster's holster, making sure to draw it, and fire it when the first sign of legit danger, starts to present itself, as he looked around, finding any food to find. After all, he'd rather make sure that he doesn't starve as he goes through his journey on the Planet.
The only food that he could find, was some fruit in the trees. Which, he was tempted to shoot, but he'd destroy the fruit if his shots weren't aimed well. And he was certain that it'd probably put the ThornTails in a panic if he did, and have it count as reckless use. So he kept his blaster in the Holster, before having a second idea.
He shoulder tackled the tree, to see if the fruit could be shook loose from the tree. Thankfully, it did get loose, and knocked down. Much to his delight as he picked it up, and scanned it with his GPS.
"Dumbledang Pods: They are delicious fruits that are found on this Planet. Edible to any Dinosaur, and even other species."
If it included himself as those other species, then Fox was relieved that he has found some so soon, as he put it in his pack, feeling that he can save it for later, as he knocked some others down to fit into his pack to save them for later, even though he isn't hungry so far. For now, he looked around again, seeing that there was a few things that caught his attention.
The first thing, was a building that was nearby. And it had a doorway that was open, and that he could enter it at any time. The second thing, was a bloated plant that was leaking out steam from the top of it. Which had Fox feeling weary of touching it, let alone shooting it if it would blow up in his face. The third thing, was from here, he could see a large giant made of stone in the distance. Or rather the upper half of it. And so far, it didn't notice him. Which was relieving to know for Fox.
And the fourth thing, was a square door to his north-east that his Arwing's nose faced. And he was guessing that it's where the Queen EarthWalker could be. So he was headed towards it, despite it being inaccessible.
On the way there though, another thing caught his eye.
It looked like a sword. Which happened to have some leather that wrapped around a golden hilt of the sword. While it also had ruby stones on the center of the hilt, and the wings of the hilt, while the blade had a metallic greenish grey color on it on the edges, while in the middle, it looked like there was a sort of scripture that was carved on it, like a stake on stone being hammered.
It looked like a medieval sword in looks. Possibly Viking in design. And it was making some red sparks on its hilt.
"A sword? What's a sword like this doing here? I thought this is a stone age civilization on this Planet." He said to himself, wondering why a sword like that was here.
Either way though, he feels that the sword could be a decent alternative weapon for him, just in case either his blaster runs out of power, and requires a recharge, or he merely needs to conserve its ammo so he won't run empty at the very worst moment. So he decided to grab it by the hilt, before pulling it out of the ground, where he held it up to scan his eyes over it. Seeing the rest of the blade, and how it was at least tall enough to meet his chest if he were to stab the blade's tip into the ground, without it sinking into the dirt from the stab. He had to admit, it looked impressive. But was it a practical weapon? Especially when compared to his Blaster?
Suddenly, it sparked in his hands, yet he didn't drop it out of surprise, as he felt no pain from the red sparks that came from it.
"If you're reading this message, then I am in grave danger." A voice echoed through his head, sounding feminine. Startling him again. "The sword you hold in your hands, will serve you well in combat, and if you practice with it, your skills will grow. In addition, you can use it to help explore the world around you. Do not be afraid to experiment, as it has plenty of uses. Just take care of our sword. And it, will take care of you." The voice said, finishing the sentence.
Fox stared at the sword in amazement. Before making some practice swings with it. Making sure to get a feel for the heft, and weight of the item in his hands. It wasn't heavy enough to force him to wield it with two hands, but it was not light in his hands either, as he was now showing himself as he swung it, making sure not to accidentally chop a dino's head off in doing so. At least, the ones that aren't SharpClaws.
After he got a feel for it, he decided to sheathe the sword behind his back, after forming a makeshift sheathe out of some tree leaves, and small rope. Now he was on his way to the square door just after the small hip-high stone walls.
Where he ended up immediately seeing it open, and out came some SharpClaws that counted up to five, that ran out to confront him. Much to his surprise. But he drew his new sword, along with his blaster, in preparation for fighting them.
The first one to exit the door tried to attack him with his teeth, but he dodged the bite, before he was able to stab the sword down into the neck, bringing a yelp of pain out of the wounded SharpClaw that fell to the floor. And due to his grievous wound on his neck that leaked blood, and since Fox was sure he hit the spine, he wasn't getting back up.
Sure enough, he vanished without a trace due to his death, leaving a puddle of blood behind. Probably magic that sent him away, Fox didn't know, nor care.
Seeing their ally down so quickly, they attempted to charge him all at once, but Fox flailed his sword around quickly, ensuring that they cannot gang up on him, or his journey may end in seconds if they held him down for the finisher. They were a bit off balance due to it, while the other one charged at him, mace at the ready.
The other one tried to whack him with his mace, but Fox also dodged the attack, before shooting him between the eyes with his blaster's charged shot. Quickly killing him by blasting off his head, before he could do another swing.
That left only three of them, as they were on guard against him, and the weapon that he held in his hand, along with the sword. They then tried to fight back against him, but he was still on his toes, as he parried their blows, before shooting at them with his blaster as well, when he jumps back to get at least some distance between them, and make sure that he won't end up missing, thus wasting his shots.
The sword quickly became a useful tool for Fox. And he was getting glad that he found it, since the sword looked like a good alternative to his blaster, for when his foes on the planet ends up getting too close for comfort, forcing him to rely on his fists. And especially, when he runs out of ammo for his Blaster, forcing him to recharge it during combat. He just hopes that it may remain a useful tool to the end of his journey on the Dinosaur Planet.
The melee lasted at least ten minutes, when he was able to take them all down when the dust settled. Showing off the fact that regardless of the fighting skills of fighter pilots that people expect, he was no slouch in a brawl. Now he glanced up, noticing a sun symbol on the top of the square door. He wondered if it was there before, but that was interrupted by the feminine voice.
"If this sword feels that you're truly worthy to be its wielder. As you venture on, you may feel the blade start to urge you towards certain locations. Do not hesitate to heed its call, and you can discover that its power shall grow with you." The voice said. Confusing Fox.
"What do you mean?" He asked the voice, until he felt it start to vibrate a bit as it made a green glow in his hands. He quickly felt that the sun symbol could be a button to shoot, which should be where he could open the door.
He pulled out his blaster, and shot the symbol, but the button didn't do anything, but remained the same color, and the door remained closed. Much to his dismay. It seemed to him that the symbol doesn't respond to getting shot. So he had to find another way.
And seeing that there is no other way that he could think of, he decided to obey the sword, and run to where the sword was leading him, which was to the northeast section of the Hollow, while sheathing it along the way.
Also while along the way, he saw a tall red mushroom that was towering over him. Much to his curiosity as he approached it. Only for it to shake violently, and let loose a small cloud of red spores. Which he accidentally inhaled, as he backpedaled, causing him to feel nausea, and dizziness as he fell to the floor while coughing. Which, luckily for him, lasted for only a bit when the spell passed. Fox took that as a note, to keep his distance from those things as he continued onwards.
Where the sword started to vibrate even more as he jogged around a stone well, and towards a small cavern which was a depression in the wall of the cliff that surrounded the area of the Hollow. Which caused the sword to vibrate more in his hands. Much to his amazement, before he saw a small hemispherical stone on the cavern floor. Which he lifted up with the blade of the sword.
Which showed a way in as it glowed. Almost like it was tempting him into entering into it. Since he had nothing else to do, he entered the hole. Where he was now in what appeared to be a hall leading to a chamber of some kind.
And in that chamber, was a pedestal that had a spire that was over the pad. Much to Fox's surprise as he was now under it. That's when he had an idea of what he could do with it, as he held up the sword.
Then at that moment, electricity ended up zapping the sword, yet wasn't shocking Fox too, as it glowed with some red colored flames as it pulsed with the energy from the spire being poured into it, as he stared on in surprise, yet wasn't dropping the sword as he continued to hold the sword up as it also glowed brightly while having red fire on the blade.
Once the zapping was done, Fox looked at the sword, seeing that there was a gem button that appeared on the hilt of the sword, as the blade continued to make a red glow, especially as he points the sword's tip forward. Out of curiosity, he pressed the button on it, wondering what it would do.
Only for a red ball of plasma to suddenly shoot out from the tip as rings of energy also surrounded the blade, as the ball scorched the wall, much to his surprise. Which turned into delight at the sight. Then he noticed there was a barred gate that blocked off the way he came in, which was under the similar panel that he saw over the square stone door back outside in the Hollow. It was like the room wanted to demonstrate that power in the sword, and what it could do.
So he shot the panel with the sword's blast, causing it to turn green, and to open the gate back up. Which told him what he could now do with those blasts of energy from his sword, as he exited the chamber through the same way, back to the outside, knowing what to do from here.
He now made his way back through the southeastern corner of ThornTail Hollow as he got back to the door. Where he shot the panel with the sword's new fire blast ability, causing the door to open. Now he was able to enter the now opened alcove, where he was able to quickly find the Queen EarthWalker herself, who was laying in a slump on the floor, looking exhausted, but still awake.
Fox hoped that she still had the strength to speak as he came up to her, before he knelt down. "Hello there. My name is Fox McCloud. Do you need any help?"
The Queen looked at him exhaustedly, before speaking in her own language. Which Fox was unable to know what she was saying in, like with the ThornTail. The only thing that was audible in the sentence, was the words, 'Ice Mountain' and a name. But still, he shook his head in mild annoyance. "Did you get all that Slippy?" He asked into his com.
Slippy's head appeared above his comm. "Of course. And she said that you must get to Ice Mountain, and to find her son. Prince Tricky."
Fox was amused by the name of the Prince. "Nice name." He said to himself. Then he reminded himself of his manners to the Queen. "Is there any suggestions on where I should start?" He asked politely.
The Queen proceeded to bellow out a little command, which little did Fox know, made one of the ThornTails move off of a spot, that made a path to another section of ThornTail Hollow. Before she then responded with more of her Saurian language. Prompting Fox to activate his comm again.
Slippy's head reappeared. "She said that you should talk to the big stone guy that is in the guarden. She called him a Warpstone. He should take you to that place."
"Okay. Thank you Madame. I'll go and save your son right away." He said, before walking out of the alcove. "Is that translation module almost ready?" He asked Slippy.
"Almost. It needs a little more time." Slippy said.
Fox knew that there'd be no use in hassling Slippy over it, regardless of his annoyance. So he just dropped the issue, before he then walked to the direction of the garden, where he saw a blocked path by the stone wall piece that had a crack on it.
Which caused him to wonder on how he could get past that, when he ended up remembering the bloated plant with the steam on it. He wondered if he could use it to give him a way to the garden.
So he got to it, when he accidentally tripped, and even though he stopped himself from falling, he accidentally shot the bloated plant with the sword's fire blast, causing it to blow up, sending out a shockwave that briefly flattened his fur, and had his ears ringing a bit from it, just not enough to go deaf from it. Luckily for him, he wasn't close enough to get caught in the explosion, (Which wasn't a big one.) but he was in dismay at the result of blowing up the plant that he could've dragged to the spot, before blowing up. Only to then see that it wasn't a complete loss.
For he then saw that there was at least three spores that came out of the plant, (That was suddenly growing back to full size in seconds) and was now floating slowly towards the ground. He felt that they could be useful, so he gathered them in his pack, before scanning them.
"Bombspores: Plant them on the ground, and watch it grow quickly. Then shoot them, and you'll get a bang out of them. Just ensure that safe distance is maintained."
Fox quickly knew what to do with them, as he ran back to the same place where the crack was, before noticing some soil that was just before it, before he then planted the first one on the ground. As the GPS said, it sprouted, and grew in seconds to the exact duplicate of the plant that he got it from. Grinning with delight, he made sure to step back to a safe distance, before shooting it with his blaster, causing it to explode, destroying a section of the stone wall that it was close to, while kicking up dust as a result. Now he got through it, and jogged his way into the garden after the dust cleared up.
Where he quickly saw the highlight of the garden, that caused him to stop in place out of shock as his jaw was open. A massive stone statue was in the center of the garden. And it was moving around in the center. It looked nothing like a dinosaur itself, but instead, it looked like a vaguely ape-like individual, that looked like an obese upper half of a stone golem that rotated itself around by pushing its fists into the ground to turn, like it was on a swivel. Fox knew of no simian that looked like this golem in front of him, and it reminded him of the running golem that he had to chase down, back on Venom, before his fight against Star Wolf team, that his team was barely able to win before his fateful battle against Andross himself.
It was rooted into place though, which did bring some relief to Fox if that golem wasn't friendly. Nevertheless, he ended up approaching the Golem. Whom noticed him.
"Weel laddie, what're ye lookin fur?" The stone said, much to Fox's surprise, since he knew the common language of Lylat, albeit with a heavy Scottish accent, but still audible for him.
After getting over his shock, and gathering his wits, he proceeded to ask. "Are you the Warpstone?"
"Aye, ye got it in one lad. But ye didn't answer mah question. What're ye lookin fur?" The Warpstone said.
"Okay. Can you help me? I need to find the EarthWalker prince, and the Queen said that I should talk to you." Fox responded.
"Weel, ah would, if ah could, but ah just don't feel like ah'm in the mood right now." The Warpstone said somberly.
"What?! Why?!" Fox asked exasperated.
"Nobody brings me any gifts anymore. Ah'm asked fur a favor, and yet nobody is offerin anythin' in return. That's nae good manners thare. So bring me a gift, and ah'll be sure ta listen ta yer request. And not a moment too soon." The Warpstone said annoyed.
As much as Fox felt chagrin at doing such a thing, he felt that there's no benefit to arguing with the large statue that likely stood in the same place for ages. Especially if it could end in him getting crushed, once the Warpstone runs out of patience towards him. "Okay okay. What could make for a gift for the Warpstone?" He asked.
The Warpstone had to think about it for a second. "Weel, ah've always loved the good rock candy, and it's been awhile since ah've had some. Ah reckon that the Shopkeeper, has some in his store. That auld lizard always hoards stuff that he deems valuable. Or that he thinks, or knows, that the others may want. Ye'd do weel to visit his store, if you 'ave some Scarabs fur it."
"Scarabs?" Fox asked. He's seen, was paid, and has even used all forms of currency on other planets, from coins, to any sort of metals, including gold, to even slips of paper that were useless outside of the planets that he got them from. Not to mention electronic deposits that gets wired into his account. But Scarabs were a new thing that he didn't expect. "Are they the currency for this planet?"
"Aye. And in case you're wondering where to find some, just look under the big rocks. Ye can also find them in baskets, or in boxes, or any cave that is cool, and dark, and out of plain view. The green ones are the least valuable, the orange ones are worth five, an' the gold ones are worth ten." The Warpstone said. "Oh, and have this." The Warpstone said, giving Fox a bag. "Ye can hold scarabs in this bag. Which can hold up to at least twenty. Once you have the scarabs, then either go into that building through the open doorway, or ah kin let ya enter through here." The Warpstone said, lifting up his upper half to show that there was a doorway that he was sitting on, under him.
Fox nodded in understanding. Feeling relieved that he won't need to put the scarabs in his pockets as he took the bag. "Alright. Once I have that candy you want, I'll come back." He said, jogging out of the garden.
Where he was on the lookout for any rocks of the Warpstone's description. And luckily for him, it was only a second of looking around, when he found a circle of those rocks that was not far from the entrance to the gardens. They seemed like good places to look, so he got to the rocks, before he took the sword out, and wedged it under one of them. The moment the light ended up under the rock, a few Scarabs ended up skittering around his feet, two of which were orange, before Fox quickly pulled the sword out, making sure the rock doesn't land on his toes, before giving chase.
Which wasn't hard, as he got them all despite some small trouble with the catch., before lifting up some other rocks until he got enough to fill the bag up. And soon, he made his way to the building that was nearby, noticing the open arch doorway with the Scarab stones near it, that he could enter it through. Once inside, he ran around the corner, and brushed aside a curtain, to find himself in the store.
And he immediately saw the shopkeeper himself, who was a strange sight, even by the standards of this strange world. He looked like one of the SharpClaws, at least on his upper half, while his lower half looked like a snake. And he was floating in the air, by a couple inches. It was like he was some sort of wraith on the Planet.
The Shopkeeper turned to face the entrance when Fox walked past the curtain. And greeted his potential new customer. "Ah, welcome to my zhtore. Feel free to look around at the may items within these walls. I have plenty of food, zhpecial goods, and many maps. And if you want to play games, then enter the Zhcarab room, yes. Oh. And that'zh the exit." He then said like he wanted to mention an afterthought.
"Okay…" Fox said uncertainly, trying to wrap his head around the situation he's in.
"Now, if you find zhomething you like, we'll discuss a price in scarabs that you can buy. Is that clear?" He asked.
"Yeah… I guess…"
"Good. Now hurry up and buy zhomething. Or get out." He then said impatiently.
Fox knew that he had to buy something soon, or the Shopkeeper could kick him out for wasting time. "I'm searching for some rock candy."
"Oh, going to zhee the Warpzhtone eh? Right thizh way." He said, floating his way to another room, guiding Fox to that room, where he then saw a bunch of odd goods that was in the room. But the one he wants was on a pedestal that was near the curtain, where the Shopkeeper was. "That'll cozht you ten Zhcarabs."
Fox proceeded to give the Scarabs to the Shopkeeper after taking them out of the bag, as he showed delight in his eyes as he took the bugs from Fox. Who proceeded to take the rock candy, and put it in his pack. But before he could leave, he remembered that there was maps in the store. "Say, remember the maps that you mentioned?"
The Shopkeeper nodded.
"Is there one that applies to Ice Mountain?" He then asked, feeling that he could need a map to lead his way around that place during his search for Tricky.
"Of courzhe. At leazht for the lower sections of the Mountain. I'm afraid you're out of luck once you're at the top of it. But don't worry, it's only a small area on top." He responded.
Fox was dismayed at the answer, but felt that he could still find some use out of the map in question if what the shopkeeper says is true. So he just bought the map, and got out of the store with the map in hand after doing some scanning over it on the GPS. (He did the same for the ThornTail Hollow map, after buying that too, wiping himself out on the Scarabs.)
And soon, he was back in the Garden with the Warpstone, (After getting some wood that he put in his pack, for a fire, since he was headed to a cold place.) before coming up to the Golem, and hauling the candy out of his pack. "Here ya go big guy."
"Ah, a lovely gift." The Warpstone said in delight, carefully taking the Candy out of his hands, before studying it, then eating it once he's sure it was genuine. His eyes widened in delight at the taste. "Ah yes, it's the best kind. Thanks so much laddie. Now, what do ya need from me?"
"Well, are you truly the Warpstone?" Fox asked, making sure that he's speaking to the right guy.
"Why of course Ah am. Ah kin warp ye to any place on Dinosaur Planet, as long as thare is a warp pad that ye can teleport to. An' another thing. If ye have a Krazoa Spirit in ye, then yah kin go to Krazoa Palace. But only if ye have one on yer body." He said.
Fox was intrigued about Spirits, and the Krazoa palace. But he felt that he can learn more about them later. "Well, is there one on Ice Mountain?" Fox asked.
"Indeed thare is. And lucky fur ye, it's in a cave, so ye can take shelter inside, in case it's night time, and if a blizzard is happenin. So, do yah have everything ya need fur this trip?" He asked.
After some deliberation, Fox proclaimed that he was ready.
"Okay. Hop on laddie." The Warpstone then said, holding his giant hand down for Fox to climb on. Which he did, before he lifted his hand up to eye level, before concentrating on his hand that had Fox on it, before Fox felt his body start to tingle, as notes of light started to appear, and dance around him, with the lights, and his tingling intensifying, before he vanished in the Warpstone's hand, now on his way to Ice Mountain.
Where on the way there, he looked around himself seeing that he was flying through space in circles. It was quite a strange sight, and feeling that he was going through. It was like he was in a weird dream himself. But it isn't a dream, this was really happening.
And soon, he was on the Mountain, as the tingling feeling, was replaced with the feeling of chills, like he was in a snowy mountain. Which told him that he was in his destination.
And sure enough, he was in Ice Mountain. But it was night time like back in ThornTail Hollow. And of course, there was a blizzard that was happening outside. Much to his dismay, since he must wait out the storm in the cave that he was in.
But there was nothing he could do now. He cannot control the weather of the Ice Mountain. So he had no choice. He needed to wait out the storm. Which showed no signs of fading soon.
So he set up his camp in the cave. Which merely consisted of his sleeping wrapping, MRE's, and some caffeine for when he wakes up, and a camp fire from the wood that he took with him in his Pack. Now he was in the cave, patiently waiting for the blizzard to end. Even though it was dark out, and he might be napping the night away while he's at it. In fact, he was in his sleeping bag, ready to nap away the darkness, after snacking a bit on the Dumbledang Pod.
He hopes to wake up soon enough to journey through the mountain, and find the Prince soon enough. But for now, he closed his eyes, and waited out the night.
And done.
Sorry that this fic chapter took long. There was a few writing blocks, mostly for how I could end this.
But there's also the fact that my family, and I have moved to a new house. And it wasn't much of a smooth process in moving to the house that we decided to go to. But we made it nonetheless.
Afterwards, I needed to adjust to my new surroundings. Moving is a bittersweet feeling, after all. The new home is very nice. But I do miss my old home.
But overall, I am back with this new chapter of Star Fox Adventures through Dinosaur Planet. Where Fox has gained Sabre's sword, and is now in Ice Mountain, and ready to rescue the Prince.
As for Krystal, and Kyte, and if they'll meet Fox, they'll meet soon. For now, they're resting too. And they'll be out in the morning.
Also I would like to let you guys know, that there is a fan made game trailer (Two actually.) on Youtube, that I'm also taking an element or two from as well, and I'm giving a shout-out to it. It's called Star Fox adventures Retconning, and it is done by Esphirian. Look it up if you guys have the time.
Edit: Sorry for editing out the Super Smash Bros references. I acknowledge that they were not necessary, and was too meta.
Finally, one more thing.
I hope that you enjoyed the chapter,
please give constructive criticism,
And do not forget to read and review,
and once again, I do not own Star Fox or Dinosaur Planet. They are created and owned by Nintendo, and Rareware Studios. Please support the Official releases.
Theodore the Poet signing off.
