As soon as Rhodey, Nebula, Peter and Gwen made it to Morag, they all disembarked from the ship to say their goodbyes to each other. While Gwen said goodbye to Rhodey, Peter and Nebula were talking.

"Be careful ok? I wanna see my friend when I get back." Peter said, pulling her into a hug and keeping her there, against his chest.

"Of course, but only if you promise the same. You tend to get into a lot of trouble when no one is there to watch over you." She smirked.

Peter rolled his eyes, "Well my sister is with me, so I think that counts as something." He replied as he pulled back to look at her in the eyes.

"Don't worry Nebula, I'll keep an eye on him." Gwen said, smirking as she walked over to them. Peter rolled his eyes once more for good measure before walking over to say goodbye to Rhodey.

Rhodey pulled him into a hug tightly, "Take care, okay?"

"Yeah."

"Get that stone and come back, no messing around, you understand Romanov." The Colonel said, smirking at the young man.

"Yeah, whatever. You got this too man," Peter said placing his hand on the man's shoulder.

"You're damn right I do."

Peter and Gwen then both started to walk back over to the ship and walked up onto the ramp. Peter called back, "See you back at the Compound." He said it even if he knew there was a possibility that he'd never see them again.

"You guys watch each other's six." Rhodey said, making Peter and Gwen look back one more time to just smile at them.

"Yeah, we will." Gwen replied.

They walked back into the ship, and the hatch closed behind the two siblings. After a couple seconds the two of them sat down and sped off towards their destination.

When the ship took a jump through space and sped up tremendously, Peter and Gwen looked at each other.

Peter smirked at her, "It's a long way from Romania, ain't it?" He said, only causing her to laugh at him. They haven't talked about Romania since it had happened two years ago, right before the birth of May actually.

After a few more jumps in space though, Vormir finally came into their view. Peter slowly landed the ship down onto the surface of the planet before both of them left the ship and looked around when they got outside.

"You know, under different circumstances, this would be totally awesome." Gwen commented, looking around before adjusting her weapons that were strapped on her hip. She was wearing a variant of Natasha's Black Widow suit that Peter had adjusted to fit her frame, since she was a little more skinny and shorter than the older woman.

Peter nodded his head before he looked up to the giant peak that was right in front of them, "I'm guessing we have to climb that." Peter said.

"Fucking great, just what I wanted to spend my day doing." She rolled her eyes.

Peter and Gwen spent a good hour climbing up that mountain. Due to their enhanced stamina, they could go on for longer but they were starting to get a little tired with how long this was taking them.

"I bet the raccoon didn't have to climb a mountain." Peter grumbled, offering his hand to his sister to help her over this one rock.

"Technically, he's not a raccoon, you know." She responded, gratefully taking his hand and allowing him to pull her up.

"Whatever, he eats garbage so he's a fucking trash panda in my book." Peter rolled his eyes. The both of them kept on walking until they heard a voice call out to them from behind.

"Welcome."

Peter and Gwen quickly turned around and drew their weapons. Gwen pulling out her pistols and Peter drawing his knifes. Before any of them could react, the mystery figure floated towards them and Peter could see a red face on the guy.

The only person that he'd know with a red face would be Red Skull from the stories both Bucky and Steve have told him.

"Gwendolyn, daughter of George. Pyotr, son of Marie."

Peter tensed when he heard that. In all the years since his escape, he's rarely ever talked about his mother to anyone.

He's mentioned her a few times to Mary Jane and Natasha, and the rest know that she was killed in front of him, but he never talked more than a few sentences about her. And he knows that Fury would know her name since she was a previous agent...

But he has never told anyone, his mother's name...

He quickly schooled his face before he raised an eyebrow at the guy, "Red Skull?" He asked, just to make sure.

"I was... But now consider me a guide. To you, and to all who seek the Soul Stone."

"Alright good, then you can tell us where it is and we'll be on our way." He said, slightly lowering his knifes.

"Ahh...If only it were that easy." Red Skull shook his head. He gestured for the two of them to follow him, which they did a bit hesitantly.

Red Skull led them to the top of the mountain before he decided to speak again.

"What you seek lies in front of you... as does what you fear."

"The stone is down there?" Peter asked, walking over to the edge to look down.

"For one of you. For the other... In order to take the stone, you must lose that which you love. An exchange, a soul, for a soul." Red Skull said. Peter looked up from the edge and stared off towards the orange sky. A feeling of melancholy spread over the young man at that moment, knowing what he'd have to do.

Gwen and Peter made their way away from the edge to think everything over for a second. Gwen was pacing back and forth while keeping an eye on Red Skull while Peter just sat on a log with his arms propped up onto his legs.

"He...he's gotta be making this shit up." Gwen said, finally tuning around to look at her brother.

"No, I don't think so."

"Why, because he knew your Mother's name?"

"You didn't know, neither did Mary Jane, Ana... not even Tasha. I've told no one her name before. Besides, Thanos left here with the stone but without his daughter. It's not a coincidence." Peter said, still staring off into nothing.

"Yeah." Gwen whispered.

"Whatever it takes." Peter nodded his head, with a fire behind his eyes.

"Whatever it takes." Gwen reiterated.

Peter then stood up and stood right in front of Gwen, "If we don't get that stone, billions of people stay dead."

"Then I guess we both know who it's gotta be." Gwen said.

"I guess we do." Peter nodded.

Gwen grabbed ahold of Peter's hand and he reciprocated the action and they looked at each other in the eyes. Peter could see something in her eyes though, a silent determination. He knew that she wanted to take the jump, but he'd never allow it, not in a million years.

"I'm starting to think, that we mean different people here, Peter." Gwen said, slightly glaring up at her brother, seeing the same determined look she had in her eyes.

"For the last five years I've been trying to do one thing, protect the people of this universe, of this world, of my family. Now that we're all here, I finally have a chance to get everyone back." Peter said.

"Oh, don't you get all decent on me now." Gwen shook her head.

"What, you think I wanna do it? I'm trying to save your life, Gwen." Peter said, squeezing her hand.

"Yeah well, you have a daughter to look after. I'm not gonna be the one responsible for taking away her father. Not when I could have saved him."

"She'll be ok with her two aunts, her mother and her grandma looking out for her, she doesn't need me, a killer to help raise her." Peter said, having a moment where all those insecurities about being a father came back up to haunt him.

"I don't judge people on their worst mistakes anymore, and none of your family does either."

"Maybe you should." Peter responded.

"You didn't, not with me, with Ana with any of the family, you gave all them a chance even though they've all done bad things too." Gwen said with a raised eyebrow.

Peter huffed, "You're a pain in my ass, you know that?"

Both Gwen and Peter leaned their heads against one another, taking a moment to soak in the warmth form the other.

"Okay. You win." Peter said, he smiled before he knocked Gwen down onto the ground.

"Tell my family I love them."

Before Peter had a chance to do anything else, Gwen flipped him over and pinned him on the ground, "You tell them yourself." She said. Before Peter could react to being pinned, Gwen electrocuted him with the Widow bites that were in the suit and she turned around to start running to the cliff.

Peter got up and shot a web at Gwen's feet and yanked her down on the ground hard, disorienting her for a few seconds but that's all he needed. Peter ran over to the edge of the cliff, sparing his sister one more glance before he jumped.

But Gwen was having none of that and she ran after him, jumped with him and hooked him up to a grappling hook that pulled him to a stop in midair, dangling him from the cliff. Peter acted quickly though and grabbed ahold of her hand before she could fall any further down.

"Damn you!" Peter said glaring at his sister, keeping a firm grip on Gwen's hand with his fake one, not wanting to slip.

"Let me go." Gwen whispered, looking up at her brother with tears in her eyes. This is not how Peter wanted this to go, this is not how it's supposed to go, it was supposed to be him, not Gwen.

She wasn't supposed to die...

"No. Please, no." Peter said. Tears were freely falling down his face at this point. His vision was starting to get blurry but he kept his eyes on Gwen, not wanting to believe this was happening, that she would be taking the fall.

He couldn't lose anymore of his family...

"It's okay, everything's gonna be okay." Gwen smiled up at him. Both siblings were openly crying now but neither of them cared at the moment.

"Please..." Peter didn't get to finish though because Gwen offered him one last smile before she kicked of the wall, ripping her hand out of Peter's grip using her strength, and plummeted to the ground, "NO!!!"

Peter dangled off the cliff, and watched as his sister fell down, towards the ground, watched as she smiled up one last time to him, and watched as her body hit the ground, her face peaceful but it looked wrong with the blood forming around her body.

Dead...

His sister was dead, and there was nothing he could do about it...

A sudden boom in the sky startled Peter before he suddenly opened his eyes. He realized he was in some sort of pool of water. He looked down and opened up his right hand to find the Soul Stone there, seemingly glaring at him, taunting him.

Or maybe that was just him...

Peter got up and walked over to the ship with a blank look across his face. He shrunk it back down to its miniature size and placed in his pocket before he put his attention to the stone.

He pressed a button on his fake hand and it opened up a little placeholder for the stone. He allowed the stone to shift into the hand before it closed around the magical space rock, safely concealing it inside.

An orange glow surrounded his hand for a second and he could see the orange light slowly go up his arm. He stared at it in slight curiosity but after a second it died down. It had a warm feeling to it when he let it rest in his hand. It was almost...comforting.

He sighed and closed his eyes before he deactivated his spider suit, enabled the quantum suit and hit the wrist band to shrink back in the realm to go back home.

Without his sister...

——————

When everyone got back onto the platform, less than five seconds had passed. Scott was holding the scepter, Bruce was holding the Time Stone, Steve was holding the Tesseract, Rocket had ahold of the device with the Reality stone in it and Rhodey had the orb that held the Power stone.

Steve looked around with a smile, "Did everyone get their stone?" He asked, but Peter didn't hear it, he was too stuck in his head to care at the moment. The others were to excited at the moment to realize that they were missing someone and Peter was not answering at all.

Natasha's eyes landed on Peter and the smile was instantly wiped off of her face when she saw him. His eyes were all red and blotchy, like he had been crying. He was looking down at the ground with a glare and he hasn't blinked since she has laid eyes on him.

She didn't fail to notice Gwen wasn't there...

It seemed that everyone then decided to look at their youngest member of the team, noticing Nat turing quiet. When they did, they saw the state that Peter was in and all the smiles got swept off their faces.

"Peter, Where's Gwen?" Steve asked, somewhat hesitantly. Not really knowing what happened or if he even wanted to know at all.

Peter blankly looked up at him, his eyes were glossy, and his cheeks were a little red. He sniffled once and started to shake his head at them, his mouth trying to say something but words not coming out, which made Natasha want to rush at him to pull him into her arms.

Peter clenched his jaw to try and stop the flow of tears that were trying to come out but it wasn't working. He let out a sob, loud, heavy sob as he fell down onto the platform and placed his head into his hands as he started to cry. The happy atmosphere suddenly turned very sad in a matter of seconds.

Natasha decided that now was the time and rushed over to him and pulled him into a hug, getting down onto her knees to get to his level. She guided his head to rest on her chest right under her chin as she rubbed soothing circles across his back, trying to comfort him.

The others just stood there and watched, having no idea what to do. They weren't supposed to lose anyone...but they did.

The only sounds that they could hear was the slight sobbing coming from the young man who was in his mother's arms.

After his breakdown, everyone had moved outside to the lakeside. Rocket, Scott and Nebula were the only ones that weren't there, having stayed inside to let them be alone for this.

Peter was leaning against the wooden beam of the gazebo, with silent tears still flowing out of his eyes. Natasha was behind him, rubbing his shoulders trying to comfort him. Both of them were looking out towards the lake. Thor was looking at the sunrise but from the look in his eyes, everyone could tell that he was stuck in his head, Bruce was pacing back and forth on the dock, not really knowing what to do with himself, Clint was staring at both Peter and Nat in sadness, knowing how strong Peter is and seeing him break down like this was really hard for the archer, and Steve was looking at the wooden floor, messing around with his compass, opening and closing it, staring at the picture of Peggy and Sharon he had put in there.

Thor suddenly huffed and turned to look at everyone, "Why are you all acting if she's dead? We have the stones, right? As long as we have the stones, we can bring her back, isn't that right? So stop this shit. We're the Avengers, get it together." Thor said. Surprisingly to everyone there, that comment only seemed to upset Peter even more.

"We can't get her back." Peter said, which were the first words he had said since he had returned from Vormir. His voice was hoarse and sounded like he hadn't used it in years.

"Wha-what?" Thor asked, confused.

"It can't be undone. It can't." Peter said, still staring off at the lake, not looking at anyone else. His voice was so sure when he said it too, like he knew he'd never be able to get her back.

But Thor didn't accept that...

"I'm sorry, no offense, but you're a very earthly being. Okay? We're talking about space magic. And can't seems very definitive don't you think?" Thor said, slightly glaring at the back of Peter's head. Peter then turned around and came face to face with everyone else.

Peter stared down the God of Thunder and stood his ground. He marched towards Thor with confidence and with his own glare plastered across his face.

When he got into Thor's personal space, he stared up into the Gods eyes. The god could see the raging inferno deep into the confines of his soul, illuminated by his eyes, "It was supposed to be me, I wanted to die so that she could live and have the life she always wanted. But she took one for all of us. For me...She sacrificed her life for the fucking soul stone, and we have it now."

Everyone watched the interaction between the God and assassin with rapt attention, not knowing quite where this was going. Natasha though did grow a little sad when she heard that Peter was thinking about sacrificing himself for the stone. Her thoughts though were interrupted by Peter, "Maybe You can go up there, talk to the fucking Nazi, and see if it's goddamn reversible but I'll tell you what he told me!!!!" Peter pressed the button on his hand and his palm opened up to reveal the Soul Stone radiating its energy. Peter picked it up with his left hand and held it up, "A soul, for a fucking soul...no going back, no take backs...nothing. She died so we could get this...you can't bring her back." Peter stared at Thor, daring him to speak. But Thor chose the right thing and stayed quiet.

After a couple more seconds of silence, Peter backed off and walked back over to the wooden beam. Steve decided to look up at the young man, "Do we know if she had any other family," he asked.

"Yeah...us..." Peter said. When he had started to look for her family five years ago, he found out that when Hydra captured her, they had killed everyone in her family. Including her father, her brother and her pregnant mother.

Her only family was the people here, now...

An overwhelming anger came over Peter and he stalked over to the bench that was out on the dock and kicked the damn thing halfway across the lake and without another word, he turned around and walked back towards the compound.

After an hour, Peter was in his lab with the rest of The infinity stones that were inside a glass case, waiting for when they placed them into the gauntlet.

These stones would be the things that brought back half the universe. He knew someone would have to use all the stones and snap their fingers to bring everyone back. He knew it would have to be either Thor or Banner, they're the only ones that might be able to survive.

Now don't get him wrong, he wished he could be the one to do it, but he knew that he'd probably not survive the power surge, his mother probably wouldn't even let him get near the damn thing.

He was actually surprised that she had left him alone with these stones for this long...

But ever since coming back from Vormir, Peter's senses have been slightly going off which has made him feel uneasy, especially since they would spike whenever he looked at all the stones.

It was as if his senses were warning him about them, that his instincts knew what they would be used for and they wanted Peter to stay away from them, not get anywhere near them.

He didn't act like this when he had the soul stone in his hand, that one felt nice, warm even. But being in the same room with all the stones that had taken away fifty percent of the universe, it didn't make him feel all warm and cozy.

He glanced at the infinity gauntlet that he had made...

Then back to the stones...

Then over to his spider man wrist bands...

"SCARLETT?" Peter asked quietly, into the empty room. He took a sip of his vodka before his AI had the chance to respond.

As soon as the bottle was placed back onto the table, she decided to speak up, "What do you need Peter?" She asked gently.

"Can you record a message?"
