Disclaimer: I do not own Ratchet and Clank or any of its characters. I personally can't stand dairy with chunks of food in it (the really soft chunks really mess with my senses), but that's the joy of writing a different character. Why not make a story about Rivet loving what I hate? *happy shrug*

Strawberry Sorbet (Rivet/Clank)

Chapter Summary: Clivet. Ice cream, especially the fruit-based kind, was Rivet's guilty pleasure.

If there was one thing that surprised Clank the most after getting into a romantic relationship with Rivet, it was how much of an addiction the Lombax had to ice cream.

It was always ice cream. Nothing else. Sure, Rivet nibbled on popsicles, popcorn, cookies, and other deserts. But giving her ice cream was almost guaranteed to swell up the pupils of her eyes and flood her body with excitement.

Especially if it was a fruit-based ice cream.

Clank couldn't really puzzle that one out. There were more than a few creatures that disliked the fruit-based flavors and leaned more towards the sugar-heavy flavors like chocolate and peanut butter. But here his girlfriend was, eager to snack on her strawberry sorbet ice cream while watching something on the holovision network.

A smile pulled at the corner of his mouthpiece as he hopped up—the little helicopter on his head allowing a short minute of flight—and popped open the freezer. Metal feet clapped against the refrigerator's door, and Clank leaned into the icy interior.

Over a dozen pint-sized ice cream containers were stacked up in the freezer beside the raw meats and bags of frozen fruit. A variety of flavors and colors decorated the containers, advertising a delicious desert for the creature craving it.

"Hurry up, Bolts! The commercial break for your old show's almost over, and you're about to kick Maximillian's butt at a casino!"

"I am coming, my dear!" Clank called back. With a moment of pause, the little robot snagged the pint of ice cream Rivet had wanted. Another bit of flight to keep himself steady enough to close the freezer door, and the little robot dropped to the ground.

It took him less than a moment to grab a spoon from one of the drawers, and once everything was shut and back in its place, Clank hurried out of the kitchen and back to the couch.

Wrapped in a fluffy blanket and decked out in an over-sized T-shirt and workout shorts was Rivet, eyes locked on the holovision screen.

The moment she saw the ice cream and he came close enough to grabbing distance, her hands flew out and snatched up the little robot.

Clank laughed with amusement as Rivet tore off the pint's cap and shoved her spoon into the soft-serve. It wasn't a moment later that the spoon ended up stuffed in her mouth and blue eyes closed with pleasure.

"Are you pleased, my dear?"

Rivet nodded her head, running the spoon between her lips and sighing with content. "Oh yeah. I've been day dreaming about this flavor all day, and the little bits of strawberry just hit the spot…"

Clank's mouthpiece curled up at the corners. His gaze softened as he watched Rivet scoop up more ice cream, slowly putting it in her mouth. She took an extra minute to savor the flavor, eyes closing again with the smile on her face stretching closer to her ears.

She was adorable, and the emotion Clank recognized as love surged through his circuitry.

Rivet opened her eyes, flicking them to her partner. "Why're you lookin' at me like that, Bolts?" she asked after she pulled the spoon out of her mouth. "You got a super dreamy look in your optics again."

Clank mimicked a sigh, relaxing against Rivet's side. "You are so beautiful, Rivet."

A snort left her. "I'm just eating ice cream in my pajamas."

"I find that very… adorable."

Rivet poked at her ice cream, a playful smirk lining her expression. "Thanks, but seriously, I'm just eating ice cream like I do every night. Not that adorable."

The little robot nuzzled his body closer, taking in every moment of comfort. "I find the normalcy very attractive, and I will never forget to remind you how beautiful you are, even if you are in your sleeping attire."

A furry hand scooped Clank closer, and the little robot ended up in Rivet's lap. He looked up to her, and found the same loving expression he had been giving her painting her face.

"You're a dork if you find me sitting in my pajamas attractive, Bolts, but I know by now that I can't change your mind, so I'll let you have it." She moved the ice cream pint in front of his chest, and with a tiny scoop of her spoon, she fished more ice cream into her mouth. "If you find this hot, who am I to judge?"

Clank giggled, watching a bit of drool drip down Rivet's chin. "Your addiction to sugary dairy products is cute, if I may say."

She rolled her eyes. "Whatever, you loveable dork."

Familiar theme music blasted through the holovision's speakers, and immediately, both the robot and Lombax focused their attention back on the Secret Agent Clank marathon.

As the show went on, replaying episodes Clank could recite from memory, the little robot laid his hand on Rivet's left arm. With each scoop of ice cream she ate, Clank ran his hand over her fur, smoothing the strands down lovingly.

She finished the pint before the episode ended, and managed to do it without getting brain freeze.

The ending credits rolled, and Clank mimicked a loving sigh as sleep pulled at his conscious.

"Hey, Clank?"

"Yes, my dear?"

"Could you get the vanilla-and-blackberry ice cream? I think I could go for another pint."

Clank's next sigh turned to a more annoyed one, but the little robot hopped off the couch and headed back to the kitchen. A goofy grin stayed frozen on his mouthpiece, and even though he didn't like having to go get Rivet's next pint of ice cream, he loved her and her ice cream obsession no matter the situation.

As he hopped up to the freezer, cold air blasting him in the face, love warmed the heart in his chest.
