This was the worst. It should be her standing there, not Blossom. Blossom didn't do anything wrong. She sure as hell didn't deserve to be torn apart like this.

The professor rubbed circles on her back as Buttercup buried her face in her knees. If only she'd listened.

"Blossom! How do you plan on handling her next time?"

"What are your contingency plans?"

"How will she be punished for this?"

The reporters just wouldn't shut up. Blossom had given up trying to talk over them too. Even Bubbles looked pissed and normally she was the most pleasant to the press.

"Sweetie, watching this isn't helping. Let's go make some food for when your sisters get back and then we can watch a nice movie," the professor said. Buttercup shook her head.

"No. I'm not moving from here until they get back."

She heard the professor sigh but he didn't push it. If only she'd listened!

The monster had been small, smaller than the usual ones for sure. Blossom had wanted to scout the area just to be safe but Buttercup hadn't wanted to. She'd argued, loudly, with her sister in the air about it while Bubbles had tried to calm them down. Eventually she had gotten too annoyed to even argue and had launched straight at the monster thinking it would be an easy fight.

She'd been wrong.

The monster might have been small but it packed a punch and had a whole arsenal it seemed. Every time she tried to hit the thing it had returned the hit twice as hard causing a ton of damage to the city. While she had gone in guns blazing and helping to destroy the city Blossom had come up with a plan with Bubs that put an end to the fight. It didn't end with that though.

The press had gotten better over the years at recording not just their fights but also them. They were always looking for the next big headline too which kept all three puffs on their toes. It got annoying but usually they handled it just fine. This time they'd been able to record pretty much the whole argument and then went and pinned a ton of the damage on Buttercup. They painted her as a careless, destructive young teen with no care for her surroundings. She guessed they were kinda right.

"Why don't you just take her off the team?"

Buttercup's head snapped up at that as the professor, startled, also dropped his coffee. He cursed and stood quickly when it hit his lap. He was only half paying attention to that though.

Blossom had gone steel spine straight. Her eyes glowed and her hair flickered around her in the wind. She looked beyond pissed. Bubbles's face had gone dark and there was no trace of a smile on the usually happy girl's face. While there were no pink sparks popping up around the two girls there were plenty of blue ones.

"The Powerpuff Girls are a three member team. You get all of us or none of us."

Her sister's voice had a tone that brokered no argument. The entire press hall had gone silent at the two raging puffs. Some reporters, the more seasoned ones, were glaring at the one who had asked the question.

"It's true that Buttercup tends to get carried away. She sometimes even causes some damage to the city but you are all seriously missing a very important thing about my sister."

Blossom paused as she glared at each and every reporter there. Mayor Bellum had even taken a step forward just in case. She didn't need to though. Blossom was a lot of things but careless wasn't one of them. She wouldn't lose it there if only so she could maybe prove a point.

"There is not a single person in this city who loves it more than my sister. You think that Bubbles and I here are the heart, the joy, the love. You think Buttercup is our rage and anger. You're somewhat right but you're all so very wrong. Buttercup is angry at everything that hurts those she cares about. She guards things like a dragon with a pile of gems. If someone or something is special enough to be blessed with my sister's affection then I promise you that she will go to hell and back to do right and protect them. She will fight long after Bubbles and I can no longer stand. She is our heart because she is what motivates us. She pushes us to keep fighting, keep protecting. You only see her rage because you only see her when she's fighting but I promise you this, no one loves harder or stronger than Buttercup Utonium. Without her Bubbles and I wouldn't be standing here. Without her there would be no Powerpuff Girls."

Buttercup felt a hiccup of a sob as she buried her head in her knees again. The professor was quick to sit back down next to her and rub circles on her back. Never again. She'd never again question Bloss publicly. She'd never again go against her leader and commander. She would do everything she could just to prove her right.

"Now I think you've all asked enough questions. I apologize for the damage the monster caused today. We will do our best to make sure it doesn't happen again. You have our word as Powerpuffs. You have our word, all three of us."

With that Blossom and Bubbles took off with what was clearly an unnecessary amount of force, knocking the front two rows of reports and Mayor Bellum back.

The second they came through the door Buttercup launched herself at her sisters. All they heard for the next 15 minutes was how sorry she was.
