They made excellent time overnight and when Rosa arose from her light slumber, she noticed wisps of sand blowing from her caravan window. Leaning onto her other side she glanced and saw Blaise awake among the Subrosians.
"Good morning Princess" he greeted her softly.
She nodded at him in response.
A few hours later the entourage made it to a dune where they stopped the horses pulling the caravan and started to set up a temporary base camp.
Rosa wrapped a scarf around her face to cover against the desert winds and Beau, her personal Subrosian servant who was the son of their famed sign maker in Subrosian culture and wore a green cloak, offered her a hooded cloak to match her travelling dress.
"Cap. Merrick, why are we stopping?" she demanded looking upwards to see that it was about late morning still.
"My lady, my apologies but we will not be able to go any further today" he said, guiding her sight towards a distant sandstorm that was on the eastern horizon.
Understanding their predicament, she said nothing further to him and instead decided to supervise his fellow soldiers as they began to unpack their travel canvas tent that would serve as their shelter in the wild.
The Subrosians were in charge of organizing her trunks and tidbits from the caravan.
The four of them were a colorful bunch, in their culture their colored robes represented their position and role in the society. Orange robed citizen's were Subrosian royalty, Red were nobles, green were mostly miners and business folk, and blue were the remaining common peoples/trope dancers.
She had one red, two green's and a blue with her at the moment.
Blaise, the only blue rummaged through one of the larger trunks and pulled out some items that would serve them while they waited on the soldiers.
He brought over a medium sized twili rug, a foldable wooden chair and small beverage side table and a large umbrella on a pole and two large bay leafs from one the jungles back home.
Setting up the small area, he motioned Rosa to sit and he and Beau began lightly fanning her, hoping she wouldn't get too overheated.
Quartz, in green and Citrine,in red… helped the soldiers tack metal markers into the ground while they raised the center pole of their large tent.
They arrived in Kakariko village early in the morning, not wanting to delay any further, Linkle showed them to the current shaman's house who was Luda.
"Linkle? It's been awhile since your mother and you were here" greeted Luca once they knocked on her door.
"I'm on an errand in Castle Town but thought I would escort these fine people to their destination safely." she explained bashfully.
Luda looked behind her to see the twins' curiosity looking around the quint village.
"Ah, you must be from the Rieka clan?" she asked, recognizing their attire and coloring.
"Yes, I am Umbria and this is Westin." She introduced them to Luda.
"You hail from the other side of Eldin field, would you like an escort? I can round up some of the men to take you over the bridge, there have been rumors of thieves operating in and around the field as of late." Luda offered.
They bowed to her, but kindly rejected it. They would be able to make the remainder of the journey themselves.
Before setting down the road to the other entrance to the town. Umbria stopped and handed Linkle a pretty decorated hand blade.
"We don't have much in the way of rupees on us at the moment but I hope you will find this enough for escorting us this far" she said to Linkle with a smile.
She accepted the gift and said that it was no problem before waving at the two of them as they left on their way back home.
Luda offered her some breakfast and mentioned afterwards that she had received a letter from her father on behalf of her grandmother….
Reading the letter quickly while eating, it explained that Link had been summoned to the castle and that the Queen mother Zelda was in danger and that she should make her way urgently to go see uncle Sorin to pass along grandma's message and see how she could help prepare them for upcoming turmoil.
Frowning, as she hadn't even gone to Castle town yet, decided that her mother would forgive her for not getting as she asked in these circumstances, packing back up, she clarified with Luda of her uncle Sorin's whereabouts before walking towards the path up to Death Mountain.
Midna, arose very early in the day, in her older years. She dedicated a lot of her spare time to researching more on the Twilight realm of old and what connections there were between the world of light and them.
Being the secret new barer of the triforce piece of power, she liked to be prepared, reminiscing of the time she was underhandedly caught off guard by Zant, and also Ganondorf, she promised herself that she wouldn't hand over her realm over to enemies as easily as she did than, she would die fighting for the twilight realm.
It was one day when she was going through a thick forest in search of an ancient temple that she came across an opening to light that she raced over to, through the void between two worlds she saw a violent scene playing out in front of her. A noble looking woman was fighting two men who were tearing small pieces of her garment away in an attempt to assault her. Not knowing why this was happening but knowing it was wrong, Midna reached forward into the void and yanked the woman towards her and into her world. Landing a bit away from the vortex, it flickered out of existence and the men on the other side were gone.
Catching her bearings, the woman crawled away from Midna after catching a glimpse of her.
"Where am i?" she asked, terrified.
"The twilight realm," Midna said plainly.
"Twilight…. Like that dimension that is connected to Hyrule from the era of the twilight invasion?" she asked dumbly.
"Yes"
"Oh thank you!" she said changing her tone and forcefully hugging Midna in relief.
Startled, Midna lightly pushed the woman off her and looked at her ears, they were pointed.
"Who are you?" she demanded now, thinking she must be Hylian or related.
"I used to be Queen Karalia of Holodrum, I was sold and overthrown by a group of rebels and my daughter… Rosa was captured as well and I worry about what has happened to her? She's just a girl but I fear that they may force her to be a cover for their takeover of my country…" she explained, tears coming to her eyes.
"Sold? To whom?" Midna continued her interrogation.
"The country of Yedida"
Midna sighed, knowing of them, they were a war hungry country, small in comparison to the others but intimidating… Karalia was lucky she was near a portal…
"Well Queen of Holodrum, you may be my realms temporary guest until I figure out a way to transport you to Hyrule but from there you are on your own.
"Thank you, I never asked who you are?" she replied happily
"Queen mother Midna, twilight princess of the era of the twilight invasion" she introduced herself.
Karalia paled, the mystic princess of legend had saved her life?
The Hylian princes had holed up in Auberon's tower, discussing how their mother became a traitor to the country she ruled.
"Maybe they discussed matters we are not privy to?" Auberon commented as that would be likely. They didn't know all there was to their parents.
"What if this is all a misunderstanding and mother had no choice but to compile as she didn't know anything to help herself being confronted in front of the whole royal court?" theorized Rhett, ignoring Auberon's comment.
"We don't have enough information to think anything, let's wait for father or perhaps grandmother to explain further?" Everen silenced the other two.
No one came looking for them until dinner when a few maids arrived with some trays and their father followed not far behind.
He looked weary and they could tell he wasn't super impressed with all of their absence from court or just the public's eyes. They weren't present for tutoring, meal times, high court, nobles meetings, or petitions from the peasants.
"Explain yourselves" he ordered them.
"We are protesting the imprisonment of the Queen without a proper trial" declared Rhett defending them.
"If we do not understand, we cannot support this blatant use of power" commented Everen.
"Did you consult the Dukes and grandmother before taking action?" Auberon dared to utter.
The other two looked his way expressive that he was ruining their efforts to shield all of them.
Sulien turned towards his youngest, as he seemed to be the boldest.
" I don't have to say nothing but yes I did consult mother on the matter, there was no time to talk to the dukes but they will understand. Your mother will be given a proper trial but as we already have an important guest on the way we have to delay it as I said she's under house arrest for now."
He explained to them briefly, with not everything laid out on the table for their complete understanding of the situation at hand.
Not sure what else to say as the king's patience was fading fast. They apologized to their sire and promised to be present tomorrow.
Princess Rosa and the entourage would be arriving within 4 more days.
A/N: soooo I found some inspiration and time to continue this piece. Also I'm about ½ done the outline. They help with focusing on what parts I need to think about first :) ah feels good to get more stuff going and closer to completion.
