Time Flies By So Fast!
~A Few Years Later (Same Age as in the Show)...~
Ryder pressed down on the brakes of his high tech ATV as he spotted a young boy stuck in a tree, a kite held tightly in his hand. "Need a helping hand there Alex?" Ryder climbed down from his ATV, shoving his hands into his pockets as he smiled up at Mr. Porter's young grandson.
Alex opened and closed his mouth multiple times, before nodding sheepishly. "Yeah... I just wanted to get my kite down from the tree!"
"Don't worry. Marshall is on his way with his ladder." Ryder chuckled, even as his tablet beeped, indicating a new message coming through. Ryder pulled it out, quickly checking to see who was calling him, even as Marshall drove up in his firetruck, extending the ladder to help Alex down. "Hi Carlos, Tracker. Did you guys find that Banana Bandit?"
A laugh escaped the young jungle explorer, even as the Chihuahua with him gave a small smile. "Did we ever... it was Mandy! That silly monkey." A giggle slipped out of him as he ducked his head, his large ears twitching slightly.
Ryder chuckled at that, even as a beep came through. "Keep up the good work guys, I've got another call coming in." He hung up, to find Jake and a young husky on the other side. "I'm taking it that you got the penguins back home safe?"
"You know it!" Jake gave him a thumbs up, before turning to face the husky. "And its all thanks to Everest here too!"
"Jake! Stop it, you're making me blush!" Everest giggled, before turning her attention back to the matter at hand. "Thought you would like to know that Tuck and Ella asked if I could teach them how to snow board."
Ryder nodded at that, leaning casually against his ride. "You go ahead and do that Everest. The more well rounded the members of the Paw Patrol are, the better it is for everyone's safety."
"Okay! Bye Ryder!"
"Bye Everest, bye Jake!" Ryder hung up the call, quickly tucking his tablet back into his vest pocket where he kept it. He glanced over to see that Alex was not only down, but was getting his kite back in the air... with Marshall playing with him. "Marshall! I'm headed over to the Farmer Al's to see if Rubble needs any help with getting that new roof on his farm!"
"Okay. I'll meet you back at the Lookout once I'm sure that Alex here won't be needing my help with his kite anymore." Marshall wagged his tail, a lopsided smile crossing his features.
Ryder chuckled at that, before driving his way over to the large farm. A large farm that was a result of the two farmers getting married. Parking his ATV next to a bright yellow rig, He climbed down, eyeing the young bulldog dressed like a construction worker that was just finishing up with putting a new roof onto the barn. "Need any help there Rubble?"
"Ryder!" Rubble paused in his work, tail wagging as he peered down at the teen. "I just need to hammer this one last nail into place, then I'll be good to go!"
"That's great! Don't forget that you have an appointment with Katie once you're done here." A teasing smile flickered on Ryder's face as he added rather casually, "Something about a bubble bath..?"
"Yeah!" An excited cheer escaped Rubble, even as he quickly finished hammering the nail in.
Ryder chuckled at that, before hopping onto his ATV and driving off again, this time heading to the Town Hall, where a giant gold statue of a chicken stood in front of the building. Parking once more, he climbed down, pulling a rag out of one of his seemingly endless pockets, bending down to rub the piece of cloth against a speck of dirt on the statue.
"Ryder! How good of you to stop by!" Mayor Goodway walked up to him, her niece and nephew right on her heels. A chicken that looked suspiciously like the statue stuck its head out of her purse, a loud squawk escaping it.
"Hi Mayor Goodway, Chickaletta, Julia, Julius. Thought I would swing by and make sure that everything is good here." Ryder tucked the rag back into his pocket, flashing a smile at the group.
"Oh! Everything is wonderful, Ryder!"
"All thanks to you no doubt laddie." Captain Turbot walked up to him just then, his cousin Francois right behind him and his pal Wally on his right.
Ryder frowned at that, turning to face the marine biologist. "What do you mean Captain?"
"I'm talking about how Adventure Bay would never have come to be this bustling Tourist trap if it weren't for a young boy and his good pups."
Ryder thought things over, and realized that the Captain was right. Adventure Bay was a gorgeous town, with a booming tourist industry. Families that used to avoid the place have now moved in, schools have opened up for the boom in children that they have been having. All because he and the pups decided to do something about the state that the town was in, paving the way for the good mayor to get her job. "Yeah... I guess your right. Everything's just fine because the Paw Patrol is here."
~Several Years Later (Ryder is in his Twenties), Abandon Warehouse in the Middle of a Big City~
Michael strained against the ropes that bound his arms behind his back, scanning the large room to see if he couldn't figure out what it was that his captor wanted. Mākaʻi strained against the chain that kept him from running off to get help, the reason why they were there in the first lay close to Michael's feet, his breathing somewhat gentle. His brown hair was mussed from his kidnapping, a scruffy beard just starting to grow. A long tear in his sleeve proved that he had recently, before the retired cops turned private investigators showed up at least, fought back.
Michael shook his head, still amazed that after all of these years of searching for the missing Amaury boy and here he was. Nudging the young man with his foot, he spoke quietly to the younger man. "Ryder... Ryder please wake up..."
Ryder groaned as he forced his eyes open. Turning his head from side to side, he scanned the warehouse he was in, he has solved enough crimes and mysteries to know an abandoned warehouse when he is in, By the looks of things, he wasn't the only prisoner there. There was an elderly man, and an elderly German Shepherd, also in the warehouse, tied up. Pushing himself into a sitting position, he checked his wrists, noting that they were tied pretty tightly. No problem though. The only piece of clothing that had any tears in it, was his left sleeve, which was nowhere near where he kept the tracking device.
A door banged open, startling him as he looked over to where it had came from. A minute later, a man that Ryder had forgotten about over the years loomed into existence. Instinctively, Ryder straightened up, staring his Uncle in the eye. "You have caused me a great deal of grieve nephew... how exactly did you expect to hide from me forever?" He snarled, swinging a fist right into Ryder's stomach.
Ryder almost forgot to double over from the blow. Smirking, he titled his head to the side. "Seeing has it took you twenty years to find me when I wasn't even hiding where I was at most of that time... pretty good chance really."
The hardened criminal snarled at that, punching him once more, before kicking Michael hard. "Look at all this trouble you caused me. These two showed up to arrest me. Pathetic if you ask me."
Michael narrowed his eyes, noting that Ryder didn't seem to think the blows that Christopher Atter was landing on him was that bad... and yet everyone knew that he worked out frequently and those blows had to hurt like nuts. Ryder glanced briefly at them, before suddenly glancing at the roof, a smile crossing his features before turning his face to look at his uncle. "Hate to break this to you... but the Paw Patrol just showed up to arrest you. Think you can take them on?" There was a dryness in his voice, as if he knew something that they didn't.
A loud snort escaped Christopher as he picked up a large piece of pipe. "I would love to see them try boy."
Ryder raised one eyebrow upwards, stunned at this blatant show of hostility. "You do realize that villains that are a hundred times worse than you are scared of the Paw Patrol for a reason... right?"
Before Michael or Mākaʻi could ask what he meant by that, glass shattered everywhere as several dogs, and one cat, dressed as superheroes dropped into the room. "Put your hands where we can see them. You are under arrest!" The blue clad dog that appeared to be the leader spoke boldly, glaring angrily at the criminal.
Christopher burst out laughing at that, smirking as he glanced sideways at his nephew. "This is who you think I should be scared of boy? A bunch of nobodies wearing costumes?"
"That is where you're wrong Uncle. Those aren't costumes. Oh...and dinosaurs aren't extinct." Ryder glanced over at the members of Paw Patrol that usually didn't show up unless they needed their specific specialty. Then again, Wildcat was the only one that they couldn't say had a power. Though with the way his tail was twitching as he got ready to pounce, something told him not to underestimate the willpower of his teammate.
"That's right... we're superheroes, and we don't particularly appreciate it when someone decides to kidnap one of us... so release Ryder and we can go our separate ways." Chase scoffed slightly at the somehow oblivious villain as he fought the urge to look at his father and his partner in crime fighting.
Growling something about how Ryder was the only one with powers, and he was the only one allowed to use him for it, he swung a fist at Rubble... who promptly picked up a crate that was too heavy to lift without the proper equipment and casually sat it in front of him, tricking Christopher into breaking his knuckles. "Aaaawwww!"
"I tried to warn you." Ryder stood up, his bonds falling to the ground, a deadpan look on his features.
That was when Michael and Mākaʻi realized that they were freed too. Twisting around to face the young man, Michael reached a hand out to shake. "Ryder Amaury, you have no idea how relieved I am to see you well. I have been searching for you since you disappeared clear back in 2032."
"Really? I didn't think anyone was looking for me." Ryder arched an eyebrow upwards, startled by this revelation.
Skye snapped her head up, surprise flashing in her eyes. "Wait.. your last name is Amaury?"
"Yes. Is something wrong about that?" Ryder glanced at Chase's wife, wondering about that question.
Skye shook her head, a tiny smile crossing her features. "Do you remember when we first met and I mentioned that we were looking for a couple of people? Well, the one we were looking for that we thought might have possibly been an adult, we knew had the name Amaury..." She broke off, allowing him to process that information.
"Me... you were looking for me all those years... and I was helping you look for me." Ryder sniggered at that thought.
Chase walked over to stand by his father, amusement dancing in his eyes. "Skye dear, it wasn't just you that was looking for Ryder and didn't realize it was him. The kid I was looking for was... I didn't know his name, I just knew that my dad was a police officer and he and his partner were assigned to this case about a missing kid. One they've been working on since 2032."
All of Paw Patrol burst into laughter at that. Mākaʻi shook his head at that, glancing over at his son that has been missing since 2034. "I don't believe what I'm hearing. My kid solved a case before me?"
"We're the Paw Patrol, Dad. That's what we do. We solve problems, big and small." Chase smiled as Skye flew over to them.
"So I do have a father-in-law! I was beginning to wonder, you know Chase." Skye teased him as she landed next to him.
Ryder laughed, before hugging his friends close to himself. "Yep. Your all good pups... and cat!"
Michael and Mākaʻi went with them to the bustling city known as Adventure Bay, where they met Chase and Skye's triplets, CJ, SJ, and MJ. SJ looked like her father, though she expressed a great deal of irritation over her brothers antics. They also met several of the most prominent members of the society there, all of whom were apparently good friends with Ryder and the Paw Patrol. After attending Ryder's wedding, where he married sweet Katie, they decided to retire and move into Adventure Bay. Especially after learning that despite its rapid population growth, within a few years it went from a small town to a big city, there was little to no crime there... all thanks to the Paw Patrol.
When Michael did research and found out that Adventure Bay used to be called Miseriae Abundat, a small town that was riddled with more crime than the largest city. Confused on what could cause such a change, he went to the mayor's office to ask Ryder, the new mayor since Goodway retired, what the story behind it all was. And well... you know that story now too.
After all... they are very good pups! (and cat!)
