Chapter Seven:

Kagome and Tej found themselves getting along great as Tej drove to Han's apartment. She was listening to him talk about the past with the crew.

"You really drove a car out of a plane?" Kagome asked, looking at him in disbelief. "In reverse, but yeah." Tej shrugged, keeping his eyes on the road. "And Roman chickened out at the last minute?" Kagome asked, trying not to giggle so much. "I got him off the plane," Tej smirked, glancing at her to see her reaction. "And how did you accomplish that?" Kagome asked curiously.

~ At Han's Apartment ~

"So this is how you 'let yourself in' which is still breaking and entering," Tej told Kagome, who ignored him, as he watched her pick the lock to Han's apartment. 'That was fast.' He thought to himself when he heard the door open. "What else can you do?" He asked her generally curious. He wondered if she could race like Han.

"A woman doesn't tell all of her secrets," Kagome said with a sly smirk as she walked into the apartment leaving Tej in the hallway. "She's such a damn tease," Tej muttered to himself before following her inside.

~ At Tej's House ~

"Hiii!" Tej heard someone call out as he got out of the car. Looking next door, he noticed it was his neighbor Becky, making her way to him. "Who's that? Your girlfriend?" Kagome asked playfully with a hint of another emotion as she got out of the car.

"She's one of the neighbors," Tej told her, helping her grab her bags. 'Is she jealous?' He thought with a hidden smirk, having heard the tone she used. He watched as she nodded before walking to his door. 'She's jealous.' He thought with a wide smirk before looking at Becky.

"Hi, I noticed you recently cut your lawn but didn't cut mine," Becky told him. "Yeah? It's your yard, not mine." Tej told her, already knowing where this conversation was going. "But my yard needs to be cut." Becky pointed out. "Then cut it," Tej told her in a simple tone.

"I can't mow a lawn, I'm a girl. Girls don't cut lawns." Becky said as if it was the most obvious thing. "Then have one of your sons cut it," Tej suggested to her. "My babies aren't going to cut it." Becky scoffed. "Isn't one of then in their twenty's?" Tej asked, remembering his latest birthday party.

"He's twenty-seven," Becky stated in a matter-of-fact tone. "Then he's not a baby and can cut a damn yard," Tej told her, rolling his eyes before walking to Kagome.
