Update June 12th, 2021: On the off chance that someone comes back here wondering where this guy has disappeared to, I'm not dead. I've been going through some difficult times over the last few years, and the stress hasn't been very good for my creativity as a writer. Rest assured that I have not given up on writing. I am still working on stuff when I get the time and inspiration to do so, but it has been more sporadic recently than I would've liked. If I am lucky, I can pull myself together over the summer to get something done, but I need to prioritize my own life and my family.

If you came here specifically to look for updates on my progress on my current stories, the only story that I am actively working on is "Those Touched by Darkness". I have an updated version of the first chapter in the works, and about 3k words of Chapter 2 done at the moment. I can't make any promises about any updates in the near future though, and if that changes I will make sure to exit this update notice.

Introduction

Hello, and welcome to this humble nerd's profile page. If you were lead here by one of my stories, I want to give you a fair warning that I have been on this site for almost 10 years now, so the quality of my stories may vary. Some of my older writing is downright embarrassing to read, but I have made the mistake of cleaning out my story section once before and won't repeat that mistake, so I have decided to just leave it all up. Hopefully, someone will get a good laugh out of it if nothing else.

Who is this guy?

I'm a 25 years old Swedish university student with a passion for storytelling, video games, writing, game design, anime, and good food.

What do you value in a story?

Quality, more than anything else. I am not particularly set in a specific genre or source material, neither with what I read nor what I write myself. I can enjoy almost any story, as long as I feel like it was competently executed. But if someone held a gun to my head and demanded that I pick out a common denominator for the majority of the stories that I enjoy, I would probably have to say romance. It isn't a dealbreaker when it comes to the stories I read, but you will find that literally, every single story that I myself have posted has at least some elements of romance in them.

Do you have any pet peeves when it comes to writing?

I'd like to think that I am fairly tolerant when it comes to fanfiction since I know that most of us are just nerds who do this for fun. However, I do have two things that I tend to get hung up on when I am reading stories on this site.

First off, I have little patience with recurring bad grammar. I understand that a good portion of writers don't have English as our native language, myself included, but therein also lies the problem. If I, as a non-native speaker, get annoyed with the grammar, then it is probably in desperate need of proofreading. I can overlook a lot if I feel like the rest of the story is good enough, but there comes a point where I question whether some of the stuff on this site was even written in English, even if it was tagged as such.

Secondly, I have absolutely no patience for people who post chapters where the Author's Note(s) take up more than 40% of the chapter length, especially when it is put before the actual chapter. An Author's Note shouldn't take up more than 15% at most, and I think even that is pushing. I am well aware that my younger self was guilty of this as well, and because I used to do the same thing it always just feels like a very non-discrete attempt at pushing up the word count of the story, especially if that note includes longwinded responses to every single review from the previous chapter. At the very least, if you have a chronic need to have a long Author's Note, it should be placed at the end of the chapter for the convenience of the reader.

What languages do you speak?

Swedish and English, obviously. I studied French for 5 years during Middle and High School, but I am passable at best at it. I remember the basic grammar for it, but my vocabulary at this point is so limited that I doubt I would be able to do much else than say "Hi", introduce myself and tell whoever I was talking to that I didn't understand a word of what they were saying.

Aside from that, I can understand but not necessarily speak Danish and Norweigian, since they are so closely related to Swedish. And just like any anime nerd, I can of course "speak" Japanese, which means that I know that "Baka" means "idiot". Jokes aside, I know about as much Japanese as I know Dovah-zhuul, which is basically just a few words here and there.
