My Hero Academia: A Second Chance
Chapter 3: Making Friends
(Age 6)
The early years of my childhood were not what I expected. I spent a lot of time at my grandfather's dojo training and getting more skilled at the martial arts that I was learning. I had to admit, I loved learning the different types of marital arts that the dojo offered especially Muay Thai and Kung Fu. But that wasn't what I was looking forward to the most at my current age. Soon after I turned 6 my family began looking at schools that would be good for me. My mother pressed that me going to a private school would allow me to gain various types of skills that would help me as I grew up while my dad wanted me to go to a public so that I would have a normal school life. I on the other had hand had already decided what kind of school I wanted to go to and that was a public school. I didn't want to be treated any differently as I grew up in my new world and I really wanted to just be around some regular kids who would more than likely have some cool Quirks.
Speaking of Quirks, mine had become a lot stronger the more I used it. I practiced every single day with my mom and dad who would teach me the basics while my brother and sister would teach me different ways that I could use my Quirk that would help me in everyday life. Right now, I was able to summon azure cyclones of wind around my limbs that would normally take the form of tornados, like Red Tornado, I could harness them around my arms and legs giving me more uses and better mobility. In addition, I could also summon cerulean colored lighting in my hands that I could throw and generate around my feet that let me slide along the ground like I was skating. The idea just came to me one day when my mom was teaching me how to use the lightning, I could summon to increase my physical abilities. I still wasn't as strong as the other members of my family or as skilled with my abilities, but I was getting rather good for someone my age.
I also noticed that my parents didn't sign me up for preschool like most parents did for a young child, apparently, they wanted me to get accustomed with being a member of a multicultural family, so they taught me the basics of education in my younger years. I didn't really understand it, but I didn't really care, being apart of a multicultural family was awesome and learning about all the cultures that were apart of my new life was incredible. But now here I was standing with my parents as they got me ready to go to my first day of school, thankfully, my elementary school didn't require us to wear uniforms, so my mom and sister decided to take me shopping the week before to pick up some clothes for me. Luckily, my mother and sister had a great eye for style, so I ended up looking really cool for someone my age. Currently I was dressed in a pair of dark blue jeans with a short sleeve black shirt that had a dark blue magic circle on the front. Over that I wore a long sleeve light blue shirt with my sleeves rolled up to the elbows. I had the falcon necklace that my grandmother gave me around my neck, a pair of white and blue sneakers on my feet, and a cool black military fatigue hat on my head which worked for me since I kept my hair really short. I had to say, my family had style.
My mom crouched down to my height and set my hat slightly askew on my head, "Perfect, you look so handsome Tatsu." She said as she kissed my cheek.
I smiled, "Thanks mom, but this is all you. You picked everything I just make it look good." I said popping my collar.
Izumi giggled, "That you do." She said before she stood up.
My father then looked at me with a soft glance, "Are you ready for this Tatsuya? I know the first day of school can be a little scary."
I nodded, "I'm okay dad. Sure, I am little nervous because I want to do well in school but I'm also really excited to meet some of the kids my age. I really want to make some friends my age." I said excitedly. Back in my old life I had a very close knit of friends during my youth that I loved as if they were my own family. I didn't know whether I would meet people who would end up in Class 1-A or 1-B or even some that weren't even seen in the series, but I really didn't mind. I just wanted to see what kind of people I would meet.
Juan nodded his head, "I understand pup. Just remember to be yourself if the kids can't see what kind of amazing kid you are then they don't deserve to be your friends." He said. I nodded understand my dad's words which I totally understood. People could be totally fake when you first meet them, or they could have ulterior motives for getting close to you but I had a lot more optimism than my dad currently did so I looked forward to seeing where my youth would take me. My mom handed me a small backpack that held several basic school supplies along with a lunch box that was filled with a delicious lunch courtesy of my dad. Yeah, my dad was an awesome cook and I often helped him when he cooked dinner. All three of us left our home and we headed towards my first day of school.
MHA
The drive didn't take very long and soon enough, we were parked out front of Shining Heights Elementary School. The school looked rather simple with beige colored walls, three stories, triangular roof, and a small garden out in front of the school. I already saw several other kids leaving their parents side to run into the school while some others neglected to leave their parents' side with their faces racked with fear. Dante unclipped himself from his seat and stepped out of the family car and stood out in front, my mother gave me a quick kiss on the cheek while my dad gave me a thumbs up for encouragement since he couldn't get out of the car as the driver.
"Do your best Tatsu." Izumi said before she gave me a hug. I nodded and turned back towards the school. I left my mother's side and headed inside to begin my first day. With my heart hammering in my ears and the palms of hands sweating, the nervousness if the situation finally started to set in. This was where my educational future would officially start, and I would be damned if I didn't make a good impression and make my family proud.
MHA
The day went by rather painlessly, I met with my teacher as did the rest of my classmates and she led us to our classroom which was plain. An old-school chalkboard was up at the front of the classroom and the desks were set up into neat rows where myself and my classmates sat while our teacher spoke to us about how our class would be structured. It was typical, we would be learning math, science, literature, Japanese, Social Studies, Music, Home Economics, and Phys Ed. A rather packed schedule but sounded fun depending on which direction my other teachers would take. My homeroom teacher would be my science teacher which was my first class of the day and my other instructors would come as the classes began.
The day went by fine, and I did well in my classes since my knowledge from my past life helped me out immensely with the basics, so I was able to get a lot of the questions my teacher asked right. Now it was lunch time, and we could eat outside where the school had a small, park-like area that held several tables where kids were already eating together. I had met some interesting kids but none that seemed all that interested in being friends. At least not yet but I still had hope. I walked across the eating area looking for a place to eat, I noticed a small group of kids clustered around each other looking giggling and laughing. The teachers seemed to be preoccupied with the students who were eating that they didn't seem to notice, curiosity got the better of me and I headed towards the group. When I was near enough, I saw something that really made me mad, three other boys; one with short blonde hair, one that had bright silver eyes, and the final one had bright red and black stripes on his face were all picking on another boy who looked a little out of place.
The boy being bullied had skin that was slightly pale skin with short black hair and blue eyes that were an interesting shade of cobalt but the most interesting thing about him was the obvious physical Quirk he had. A set of small, red, bat-like wings were sticking out from his back and a pair of curved, black horns were sticking out from his forehead and curved up slightly. There were also small scales that were covering certain parts of his body that were colored a deep shade of crimson. To some others he may have seemed frightening but the way he was acting was anything but that. He just seemed scared and incredibly nervous but that may have been do to the fact that the boy with the stripes on his face was currently pulling on his horns.
"Wow, look at these stupid things." Stripes mocked.
The blonde boy pointed at the demon-looking boy, "He looks so creepy, what kind of Quirk makes someone look like a demon?"
Silver eyes came up behind the horned boy and yanked on his wings making him cry out in pain, "A Villain is what! Only a Villain could such a gross Quirk!" he yelled as he yanked on the wings again.
"Stop please! My wings hurt when you do that! And please, let go of my horns!" The horned boy pleaded as he tried to get away from his bullies.
Stripes smirked, "No way, don't you know that Villains always lose in the end. And that's what you are. A gross Demon Villain." He jeered as he pulled on the boy's horns.
The other two bullies laughed and pointed, "Demon! Demon! Demon! Demon! Demon!" they started jeering which soon got the other students involved and they all started jeering at the boy. I had had enough, there was no reason for anyone to be mocked or bullied just because they looked differently, and the teachers were too preoccupied to notice anything that was going on.
I made my way to the front of the group until I was near the striped boy, I reached out and grabbed his wrist. The boy was shocked by this and glared at me, but I paid him no mind as I gave him a hard squeeze making him yelp and release the horned boy.
"Hey that hurt! What did you do that for?" he yelled as he held his wrist. The other two bullies went over to the striped boy while I placed myself in between them and the horned boy who was rubbing his horns.
"You guys were bullying him!" I shouted.
"So?! Look at him, he looks so weird and so gross!" the blond boy yelled.
I glared, "Just because someone looks different doesn't mean that you can pick on them!" I yelled defensively. The other children around us suddenly looked sad, I knew that they were children and didn't really get how the world worked when it came to how to treat people who looked different. But despite that, I wasn't going to let someone get bullied because they were different.
Silver Eyes looked to the striped boy, "You said that we could make fun of someone if they looked different!"
Stripped boy had a look of frustration on his face, "That's right! We didn't do anything wrong! Just look at him, he looks like a Villain!"
I stood my ground, "The only Villain I see is you! Only a Villain would hurt someone's feelings because of how they look. He hasn't even done anything to you!" I shouted.
The striped boy growled, "I'm not a Villain!" he yelled before he ran at me. He raised his fist which soon glowed with a deep red color. As he came towards me to hit me, I parried his fist and redirected his strike so that he wouldn't hit me or the boy behind me. I also gave him a little trip so that he fell on his face. That got the other kids to started laughing at the striped boy's fall who quickly stood up and brushed himself off before glaring at me.
I looked over at him tugged on the brim of my hat, "Don't even try it. You won't be able to beat me." I said before calling on a small tornado around me to give him a scare. It worked as he and his friends got scared and quickly ran away. As soon as the bullies were gone everyone else looked over at me and I made a motion for them all to go away. They didn't need to be told twice and they quickly dispersed. Once everyone was gone, I turned back to the boy behind me, now that I was closer, I could see that he was wearing a pair of black pants with a red shirt, and a black hoodie with red and black sneakers. He also a dragon ring on his finger.
I gave him a smile, "Are you okay?" I asked him.
He seemed startled by my question but soon calmed down, "Oh, uh, yes, yeah I'm okay," he said with a small smiled, "Thanks for helping me. And for standing up for me." He said rubbing his forehead where his horns were.
"Don't worry about it. I was more than happy to help," I said as I put my hands on my pockets, "Besides, my brother says that bullies will never get anywhere in life by acting the way they do."
The boy looked at me, "What does that mean?" he asked.
I thought for a moment, "I don't know but when my brother says it and he sounds really cool when he says it, so I thought I would try it." I said. The two of us looked at each other before he laughed at how ridiculous I sounded. I tried to sound as cool as my brother, but I didn't really make it sound as cool as he did.
I then held my hand out, "I'm Tatsuya, Tatsuya Montgomery." I said.
The other boy smiled and shook my hand, "Shinra, Haizaki Shinra." He said as we released. The two of us decided to eat our lunch together and just talked about whatever we were interested in. That was the moment, that I found my best friend.
MHA
That one meeting between me and Shinra was one that I would never forget. Ever since then, me and Shinra were inseparable. We went to school together, ate lunch together, played on the weekends together, and we even trained together. After the whole bully incident, I quickly found that Shinra was very shy which I understood. Even though obvious Mutant Quirks were something that was seen every day, the fact that people see someone that looks different or has an odd feature they will still be mocked or discriminated against. In this ever changing world, so many things remain the same. Due to Shinra's natural shyness, I didn't want him to get bullied when I wasn't around, so I brought him to Grandpa's dojo where he immediately took the young boy on as a student. At first, he was a little reluctant, he didn't want to get into fights which I understood. There was no real reason for anyone to get into a fight for no reason but the world that we both lived in wasn't in wasn't so nice and I didn't want my best friend to get hurt when there was something I could do to help him.
We started training together and Shinra took to the training very well, he especially liked Judo and Taekwondo while I stuck to Muay Thai and Karate along with Capoeira that my dad had been teaching me. I enjoyed hanging out with Shinra, it was almost like having another brother which was nice. Ryo and Izumi would hang out with us sometimes too telling us about their lives in school and let us in on their hero training that they did after school. I also learned about Shinra's Quirk which was incredible. His Quirk was a combination of both his parents' Quirks which he liked to call Salamander. His Quirk gave him the dragon-like features along with enhanced speed, strength, senses, and he was impervious to all manners of heat. And when he was near any kind of fire he could manipulate it but he couldn't create any fire of his own.
His Quirk interested me in a way that made me think that he could have stepped right out of one of my favorite anime's. His mother Kaoru could manipulate flames around her, but her job was a firefighter while his father Hishiri had similar dragon-like features and abilities like Shinra but his were more pronounced and he could breathe fire and was a firefighter as well. It was like someone above took Maki Oze and Natsu Dragneel, remade them, and gave them a kid which I had to say was incredible. But in all honesty, I didn't really care what Shinra's Quirks were, he was my best friend, and nothing would change that.
A few months had passed since we started school and things were going well. No one bullied me or Shinra since the incident at the beginning of the year and since everyone knew who my family was and that Shinra was training under my grandpa. I did get into trouble with my parents and the striped boys' parents but since none of us ended up hurt in any kind of way things were calmed down rather easily. Although, the striped boy and his crew didn't really like me. Now it was another day of school and me and Shinra were talking to each other before the class started. We were talking about our favorite heroes and got into a small debate over who was better between Ryuku and Edgeshot and discussing about the upcoming tournament that Yokohama was going to have for kids our age. All chatter stopped as our homeroom teacher walked in, but she wasn't alone. With her was a young girl around my age with long blonde hair that fell like waves around her shoulders with bright blue eyes and a pink bow in her hair.
She was dressed in a simple white and red dress that went down to her knees with matching white stockings and black shoes. She had a very kind smile on her face and an innocent look on her face.
"New student?" Shinra asked me.
"Looks like it." I responded.
The teacher clapped to get our attention, "Okay everyone, calm down. I want to introduce a new student who will be joining us all the way from England." She said which got everyone's attention including mine. I did not expect to find a new student to arrive or one from a different country but she seemed nice enough so it may be nice to see what she's like.
The teacher gave the girl a nod and she stepped forward, "Hello everyone, my name is Elena Brightmore! I came all the way from London with my big brother to come to school and learn all about Japanese culture. I look forward to becoming friends with you all!" she said with a bow. Everyone clapped at her introduction while me and Shinra just smiled and chuckled, we knew that someone new and interesting as her would be getting so much attention that we probably wouldn't even get a chance to talk to her. But as she sat down at her assigned desk, she looked over at both me and Shinra and gave us a wave. We waved back before turning our attention to the teacher's upcoming lessons for the day.
Once the first half of classes ended, nearly every student in the classroom crowded around Elena's desk and started asking her questions about what it was like in London, did she like Japan, what her family was like, etc. Shinra and I were rather interested in the new girl but we both agreed that she was getting interrogated enough for now so we would both wait until she wasn't surrounded by everyone to talk to her. Shinra and I headed outside so we could eat our lunch and relax until we had to get back to class. We looked over and saw that Elena had already started up friendships with two other girls in our class, so we just let her be. Once we were done eating, Shinra and I decided to practice some of our martial arts a bit. Our teachers let us practice but they wouldn't let us spar against each other since they were worried that if the other kids saw us fighting, even practice fighting, then that would say to everyone that fighting was okay, so we stuck to doing our katas or forms to let us get a bit of exercise.
Shinra focused on doing some rather flashy moves from his Taekwondo training that involved a lot of spinning kicks, flips, and strong punches while I practiced on my Muay Thai strikes that incorporated a lot of kicks, punches, elbows, and knees. Along with that I threw in some fun Capoeira moves that helped me improve my flexibility. While the two of us were doing this, we failed to notice Elena had left her new friends and had come over to the open space where we were training. I did a quick flip before doing a spinning kick, but I stopped just short of a full rotation when Elena's image came into view. I nearly struck her but thankfully I was skilled enough to stop. I put my leg down and looked at her while Shinra came over to the both of us.
"Um, is there a reason why you're staring at me?" I asked her.
Elena soon became flustered, "Oh, I-I'm sorry I didn't mean to bother you guys! I saw you doing marital arts and I got interested in what you were doing." She said.
Shinra and I perked up at this and smiled, "Oh do you like martial arts?" Shinra asked her.
Elena fiddled with her thumbs a bit, "Well I like watching it but I'm not really one for fighting. My big brother used to be a fighter and I never really liked watching him get hurt but I still think its cool to watch." She said with a small smile.
Both me and my friend grinned when we heard her explanation, "Well then you are just like us then." I said.
"Huh?" she asked.
Shinra threw his arm over my shoulder, "I began getting into martial arts because Tatsuya here helped me when I was in trouble. He took me to his grandfather's dojo, and I fell in love with what I saw."
I nodded, "And I started martial arts because I loved watching my siblings and my grandpa's students practicing. My grandpa like to say that anyone can love martial arts, but fighting is something that only a few tend to follow."
Elena giggled, "Your grandpa sounds like a smart man." She said.
"He is." Shinra and I said with smiles on our face. The three of us laughed together before we all sat down. Elena spoke to us about her life in London while the two of us talked about our lives here. The three of us soon sparked up a close friendship that neither me nor Shinra expected to have. That was when our bond forged. The three of us did everything together and spent every minute that we could doing something whether it was with each other or our families. I could say with certainty that I loved being around my friends, we were like our own miniature family and we looked out for each other.
Our time together had also changed how we looked to other people. Shinra had gotten a lot more confident and was no longer afraid of how his Quirk looked to other people, Elena was getting a lot more used to the society in Japan and even found her own little clique with some of the other girls in our school while I started to get stronger or was getting more in control of using my Quirk, even getting opportunities to spar with my brother and sister using our Quirks. Life was looking very good as far as I could see.
MHA
It was now the weekend and me, Shinra, and Elena along with our families were enjoying a very fun day out together. My father and Shinra's along with Elena's older brother were working cooking food on a nearby grill while the female members of our family were just sitting at a nearby picnic table just talking and having a few drinks. Ryo and Izumi were with our grandfather as they watched over me and my friends as we played together. Shinra's father was as sight to see, he was tall, very muscular, and had short black hair that he kept spiked up in a stylish manner with scales covering nearly every part of his body, a long tail stretching out from the small of his back, large, black wings protruded from his back, and his eyes were the same as Shinra's. he was dressed in a pair of khaki pants and a black t-shirt with sandals on his feet. He was as very happy and friendly person who hit it off immediately with my dad.
Shinra's mom Kaoru was defiantly not your typical housewife. She had long auburn colored hair that she let fall past her shoulders with warm brown eyes. What was interesting about her was that she was jacked! She had muscles all over her body and even a set of rock hard abs, at least that's what Shinra told me. Since I still had my older man mentality from my past life, I didn't fail to notice the rather large bust that she had along with beautiful ivory skin. I did notice but I didn't ogle her, she was my best friend's mom after all. She was dressed in a pair of tight black pants with a long sleeve's yellow shirt with a red bouse underneath it. I could tell just by looking at them that Shinra's Quirk was a combination of his parent's, but his personality seemed to lean more towards his mother's side but thanks to the work we had been doing together, his confidence was starting to grow. But I still couldn't notice the obvious resemblance to Natsu Dragneel and Maki Oze in his parents, I did find it pretty dope though. Who knew who else I would meet in this world that would be like other anime characters I liked?
Speaking of resemblance, when I met Elena's older brother, I could see that the powers above who let me come to this world did not care about copyright infringement. Elena's big brother Michael was just that, big. He stood around my dad's height with long blonde hair that fell to his neck and bright blue eyes just like his sister. He was a rather gentle giant and had a very serene look on his face as he spoke with my father. He was built like a mountain with a very well built body from his years as a fighter and there were some scars over his knuckles that I could see. He was dressed in a long sleeve green shirt that was tucked into a pair of pressed khaki pants and shiny black boots. There was also an Asclepius necklace around his neck. As me and my friends played together with a soccer ball, I could hear in the conversation that the adults were having just out of ear shot.
Hishiri laughed, "It makes me so happy to see Shinra come out of his shell like this." He said.
Michael nodded, "I agree. Elena was so nervous that no one was going to like her since she is from a different country but when she met those boys they treated like any other girl. It makes me happy to know she has such great friends." He said.
"And I think we both have your boy to thank for that Juan." Hishiri said with a toothy grin.
Juan raised an eyebrow, "Really?" he asked.
"Yep, I have to say that your boy is probably one of the nicest boys I have ever met. Especially for someone as young as him. It's thanks to him that I can see Shinra coming out of his shell." Hishiri said.
"Elena also seems to have a high opinion of Young Tatsuya. She told me that its thanks to him that she has become more integrated with Japanese culture." Michael replied.
Juan chuckled, "Well I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Tatsuya always has been someone who isn't afraid to help others. I guess I shouldn't really be surprised at how helpful he has been to others. Makes me rather proud actually." He said with a smile that made the other men chuckle. I smiled as I stopped listening in to the adults conversation and paid more attention to the soccer game that me and my friends were having. Elena currently had the ball and was dribbling across the field until Shinra blocked her path but the young girl gained a smirk on her face.
"Sunshine Veil!" she shouted as she spread her arms and a bright light erupted from her, blinding Shinra from taking the ball. With the draconic boy blinded, Elena easily slipped by his defenses and approached the makeshift goal we had set up.
"Hey, no fair! We didn't say we could use our Quirks!" Shinra yelled.
"But we didn't say we couldn't!" Elena shouted back.
Shinra grunted in annoyance before he grinned, "Okay, if that's how you want to play then I'll play along!" he said as he crossed his arms and spread his wings as far as he could. He then kicked off the ground with a rush of speed until he was right next to Elena and stole the ball from her.
"Dragon Rush!" he yelled as he took control of the ball. Elena pouted at how easily she lost the ball but continued to run after Shinra as he approached the goal. I didn't want to give my friend and easy victory so I stood in front of the goal and bounced on the balls of my feet ready for the shot he was going to throw.
Shinra smiled before he kicked the ball into the air and followed it, he couldn't fly properly yet due to his wings still being small, but he could still glide easily and jump rather high.
Once he was in front of the ball he spun and kicked the ball with as much strength as he could muster, "Tenryu Otoshi (Heavenly Dragon Drop)!" he shouted as the ball raced towards me. I knew the ball was going to have some added power behind it so I either had to redirect it, slow it down, or move out of the way. My siblings and grandpa were watching with immense interest to see what I would do to stop the ball.
I smiled as it neared me before I spun in a tight circle as a miniature tornado surrounded me and acted as a barrier which stopped the ball in mid-air as it neared me, "Raikou Kekkai (Storm God Barrier)!" I shouted as the tornado around me dissipated and the ball dropped in front of me.
I placed a foot on the ball and smirked at my friends, "How's that?" I said before I kicked the ball back into the goal behind me.
Elena and Shinra both gaped at me while my siblings and grandpa clapped at the demonstration we had just put on.
"No fair!" Elena and Shinra shouted as they chased after me. I laughed as I dodged them while they continued to chase me. I had to admit, these small moments of childhood were enjoyable. I felt so blessed that I could experience moments like these while I had them and looked forward to seeing how my life would unfold in the future. Shinra tackled me to the ground and put me into a Master Lock, I didn't even think that was a thing here. He then rolled over until my front was in the air and Elena descended on me and started tickling me.
I laughed loudly, "Oh, oh stop please!" I said with tears in my eyes as Elena continued to tickle me. After a few minutes of the ticklish torture my friends let me go and gave me a chance to breathe and rest. We then all calmed down before we sat amongst some of the members of my family.
Sen gave a hearty laugh, "That was a rather unique way of using your Quirks there kids! Didn't think you would already have a few Hissatsu techniques already set up."
Shinra nodded, "We came up with them during recess one day after we found out what Elena's Quirk was." He said. It was true, one day during recess we were talking about Quirks and Elena told us what hers was. Turns out, Elena could absorb and manipulate photons, meaning that she could absorb light through the pores of her skin and use that light energy in various ways. What happened today was her dispersing the light inside her body in a harmless flashbang. It was cool when she would use her Quirk in ways we would never really think of.
Izumi giggled and wrapped her arms around Elena like how she would do to me, "You certainly have a way of thinking outside the box don't you Elena." She said as Elena nodded.
Shinra sat cross legged while his wings flapped behind him, "Hey Tatsuya, Elena, did you guys do the homework assignment?" he asked.
"The one where we have to talk about what we want to be when we grow up?" I asked.
Shinra nodded, "Yeah, I had a lot of fun doing that because I already know what I want to be." He said with a smirk.
"And what would that be Shinra?" My older brother asked.
Shinra laughed, "I am going to be a firefighter!"
I laughed, "I knew you were going to choose that! With all the work your parents do plus your Quirk you would be a great firefighter."
Shinra nodded, "I know right! Once I find out just how strong my Quirk will get I can save people from all kinds of fires!" he said excitedly.
Ryo nodded, "If that's the attitude you have now, then you will no doubt be a great firefighter Shinra." He said.
"Thanks Ryo!" Shinra said grinning.
I then turned to Elena, "What about you Elena?" I asked.
She giggled before answering, "I want to be a doctor!" she said.
Izumi looked down at the younger girl, "That's a high ambition there Elena."
"I know but someone has to help all the heroes and civilians when they get hurt and I like to help people so I think it would be a good job for me." Elena said with a small blush on her face.
I smiled, "Considering how you always patch me and Shinra up after we go to far in out matches, I think any hospital would be lucky to have you, Elena." I said with a smile. Elena's face turned bright red at the compliment, and she gave a quiet thank you.
"Oh, sounds like in the future I might have a younger sister join the family." Izumi teased.
Elena's face turned bright red, "Wh-what are you talking about Izumi?!" she practically shouted as she covered her face in embarrassment.
I groaned. "Don't worry about what she's talking about Elena, she's just teasing." Elena relaxed a bit but she still had a red tinge on her face.
Sen shook his head, "Moving on. What about you Tatsuya? What do you want to be when you grow up?" he asked me.
I smiled before I stood up and crossed my arms, "That's easy. I'm going to be a hero." I said shocking everyone around me.
Ryo looked at me, "Wait are you sure about that Tatsuya? I mean you are still young so you might change your mind but why do you want to become a hero?" he asked me.
I looked at my older brother, "Ryo, you told me that you wanted to become a hero to make the world safer for me and Izumi while Izumi wants to protect people who cant protect themselves. I don't want to be the kind of person who just waits around for someone to come save them. I want to become a hero so that all the people I love can be safe." I said with a fire in my eyes. My friends and family around me were surprised about how serious I sounded, and I couldn't really blame them. In their eyes I was still a young boy who had his whole life to decide on what he wanted to do but, in my head, I knew exactly what I wanted. I was given another chance in a world that I loved and was lucky enough to be born to a wonderful family who gave me nothing but love and had friends who I felt like I could take the world on with. This world had been so good to me and I did have a feeling that I would suffer a lot of heartbreak in the future, but my resolve was certain. I would protect this world and all the people that I loved here.
Shinra smiled and jumped to his feet while Elena did the same, "I say we make a pact."
I looked at him, "A pact?"
He nodded, "Yeah we make a pact right here right now that all of us will find a way to complete our goals."
Elena smiled, "Like a promise between the three of us. I like it." She said happily.
I nodded, "Okay let's do it!" I said as I held my hand out. Shinra placed his on top of mine and Elena followed suit.
"Today we promise to each other, to reach our goals and complete our dreams. No matter how hard it will be!"
"Yeah!" my friends shouted as we threw our hands up into the air. At that moment we all swore, our futures were in our hands.
A shorter chapter than I normally write but I feel like this one is a good bridge that will lead into some more serious moments that will happen later.
