My Hero Academia: A Second Chance

Chapter 4: Unexpected Surprises

(Age 7)

After I told my family and friends about my desire to become a hero, things became a bit more interesting around the Montgomery household. My mom and dad decided to get more involved with my Quirk training along with my brother sister. All of us knew that the Hero world could be a very dangerous place and if you weren't prepared for it then you wouldn't last long. My mom and dad decided to teach me and my brother a few different ways that we could use our Quirks to help us in different situations that could come our way while our grandparents continued to hone our skills in martial arts. And not to toot my own horn but I was getting good at both. I had entered multiple martial arts tournaments in around Yokohama along with Shinra and we both had come out victorious at different times and each tournament we had, Elena was right there on the sidelines to cheer us on and heal our wounds.

I could also tell that Elena was developing a crush on me, I may still have been young but my many heartbreaks from my previous life told me that the signs were obvious. I didn't really want to ruin the friendship we had or get involved with such a young girl, yes, we were technically the same age, but my mind and ways of thinking were way older than hers so developing a relationship with Elena was a little weird in my mind. But I did care for her and that wouldn't change. Other than the upped training schedule that my family has put on me, my life was rather typical for a 7 year old. School was still school, nothing special there, I still hung out with Shinra and Elena on my off times, and during my own time I worked on some Quirk movements and skills that I knew would help me in the future. So, all in all, my life was good, and I was happy.

One day when I was at home, I was walking around the attic of my family's home looking for some old photo albums that my sister had told me about. I had gotten curious to see what my parents were like back in their youth, so I decided to go looking for myself. After searching through a lot of boxes, clearing away a lot of dust, and wiping several cobwebs away from my face. I came across a box that was full of different albums. I looked through them and found a lot of pictures that I did not expect. I saw what looked like a younger version of my father dressed in a dark green bodysuit with some silver trimming and a long, dark blue trench coat over it all with heavy looking boots and fingerless gloves. He had the hood of his coat up over his head and a black curved visor over his eyes giving him a mysterious look. The picture was of him standing in a city that looked like Seattle surrounded by an older man and woman that shared his features along with another man that looked around my father's age with the same skin tone, a crew cut, the same colored eyes as my father, and a small smile. He wasn't in a hero costume but instead dressed in a pair of faded blue jeans, black boots, a black and white graphic tee, and a dark blue and black leather jacket with the hood on over his head. He also had a pair of black fingerless gloves with armor padding over the backs of his hands.

There was also a woman who appeared a few years younger than my dad looked in the photo with long black hair that was in a single braid over her shoulder with bright silver eyes. Her skin tone was the same as my father's and she had a rather curvy figure but was still very fit wearing a pair of tight black pants with heeled boots, a tight dark green tank top, and a black leather jacket over it all. The older man looked like my father while the older woman looked like the silver eyed younger woman. They even shared the same eyes.

"This must be dad's family. If it is, then I have some good looking family members." I said to myself with a chuckle. I wonder my father never mentioned them before. Maybe something happened between them? Whatever the case, maybe I would ask my dad about it later. I turned the page in the album, and it felt like my eyes were about to pop out of my eyes.

"Holy Smokes, I knew dad worked alongside All Might, but I didn't expect this!" I exclaimed. In the album were several photos with my father in his hero costume standing alongside several other people. The first was someone that I would recognize anywhere, with his spiked blonde hair, muscular body, and bright smile, The Symbol of Peace, All Might. He was dressed in his young age costume and had his arms around my dad and another man with slicked back, light brown hair with one single bang hanging on the side of his face. He had sky blue eyes, a red hoodie, blue jeans, boots, and a white lab coat over it all. This man I knew as well, he was All Might's former partner when he was in America and the father of the beautiful Melissa Shield, Professor David Shield.

"Jeez dad, just who were you back in your hero days," I said as my eyes landed on another picture, "And you know Edgeshot?! Come on dad, that is something you need to tell me." I said as I continued to look through the album. The rest were some things that I expected, my dad saving people, more pictures of him with the group people I saw earlier, him helping some store owners with some other heroes I didn't know, and a really dope picture of my dad using his Quirk to soar through the sky on the winds.

"Wow, dad you really are awesome. I only hope that I can become a hero like you were one day," I said quietly as I turned the page, "Huh, what's this?"

The next page I saw wasn't full of pictures but instead it was full of newspaper clippings, all with the same theme going through them.

"Emerald Flash strikes again. Emerald Flash exposes corrupt government officials. Emerald Flash drains accounts of dirty cops and gives proceeds to various charities. What is all this?" I said to myself as I continued to look through the clippings, I found one that showed a picture of the so-called Emerald Flash. It was hazy but I could make out some details on it. Emerald Flash was a woman with long violet and dark green hair, but I couldn't make out what her eye color was, but they were covered by a black domino mask. She was dressed in a dark green bodysuit with black, elbow length black gloves and knee length boots that didn't have any heels. She had a belt around her waist and what looked like metal bracers on her arms. She looked rather impressive in the picture and yet there was a part of me that couldn't shake the feeling that I had seen her before.

"Wait, mom?" I asked aloud. Did I make my mom be a thief when I was creating my new life? If so, I couldn't really remember. But the picture held such a distinct image that it looked just like my mom. I thought my dad's past was interesting, but this was straight up shock to my system. I needed to know if I was right. I closed the photo album and held it in my arms as I headed back downstairs. I quickly ran through the house till I found my mother standing over the kitchen sink humming a lovely tune with a sweet smile on her face. Could this wonderful, loving woman really have been a thief? I quickly hid the album behind my back and approached her.

Rino heard me coming towards her and smiled at me, "Oh, Tatsu. What are you doing here my love? I thought you would be with Shinra or Elena."

I shook my head, "They are spending time with their families today." I said quietly.

Rino nodded, "Oh, I suppose that makes sense. Want some juice?" she offered.

"No thank you but I wanted to ask you something." I said.

"What is it my love?" my mother asked me with a worried tone.

I swallowed hard before I sighed, "Mama, who is Emerald Flash?" I asked. I could literally see the color drain from my mother's face as I asked that. I could tell that it was a sensitive subject for her just by her reaction but if what I thought was true then I needed to know.

My mother sighed, "Where did you hear that name Tatsuya?" she asked.

I looked down, "I was in the attic, and I found some pictures. There was a lot of pictures of dad in there but then I saw some papers that talked about someone called Emerald Flash."

Rino looked at me with her hands on her hips, "I thought we told you not to go up there, you could get hurt." She said with her motherly tone in her voice.

"I know but I got curious. Izumi told me about the photo albums she saw as a child, and I knew that dad was a hero, so I wanted to see what he looked like. Then I saw those papers about Emerald Flash, and I wanted to know," I said showing the album to her, "Is-is she you?" I asked quietly.

Instead of being angry at me, Rino sighed before she knelt to my level, "I knew that I was going to have to tell you this eventually I just didn't expect it so soon," she said stroking my hair, "Let's go to the living room, I promise to tell you everything." She said as she stood back up and took my hand. My still small body had some difficulty holding the large book, but I did my best as I let my mother lead me to the living room. She sat down and pulled me into her lap, I was getting bigger so she hadn't done this in a long time so I could tell that this was a serious moment.

My mother sighed before she looked at me, "To answer your question Tatsu, yes I was Emerald Flash but that was me a very long time ago."

I gasped, "So you were a thief? But why?" I asked.

Rino gave me a small smile, "Well, that's a bit of a long story but you deserve to know. I told your siblings, and you should know as well," she said before she sighed, "You see, back when I was younger, my family didn't have a lot of money. Your grandma worked many jobs to help keep a roof over our heads while your grandpa did the same. I did what I could, but it was very difficult for us to live during the time we did. Even with your grandpa being a well respected sumo wrestler."

'Grandpa was a sumo wrestler? I guess that explains the Mawashi belt that he has hanging in the dojo.' I thought as I listened to my mother.

"There then came a time when we nearly lost our home and then your grandma got very sick. Your grandpa worked himself to death to try and get the medicine she needed but it was basically impossible. So, I did something that I never considered before. I stole but I didn't steal from just anyone."

I tilted my head in confusion, "What do you mean?" I asked.

"I stole money from one of the most corrupt businessmen in my town. I knew that he was no saint and did a lot of bad things, so I used my Quirk to steal from him. I stole just enough to get grandma's medicine and keep our home, and no one knew who I was. That was when Emerald Flash was born. I stole from all kinds of people, but I only kept a little for myself and the family and then gave the rest to people around the neighborhood that needed it more than I did or to those who had been wronged by the people I stole from."

I nodded my head, "Oh, I get it. So, the first time you stole you did it to help grandma and grandpa. Then after you saw all the bad things that some of the rich people did you chose to fight back against them and help the people who needed it. You were like a female Robin Hood." I said with a smile knowing that the famous English thief was still a popular tale told in this world.

Rino giggled, "I guess you could say that, yes. I became quite a popular among a lot of people but that brought me a reputation as one of the fastest thief villains during my youth. But that was when your father caught me and tuned me in."

I was surprised at that, "Papa was the one who caught you?"

Rino smiled wistfully, "Yes he was. I had just finished a job stealing from a corrupted politician when we met for the first time, I have to tell you even in his hero costume he was still the most beautiful man I had ever seen."

"Okay, did not need to know that mama." I deadpanned.

"Oh, right well after we met, I ran as fast I could but then he caught me. He unmasked me and I don't know something between us clicked. I guess you could say it was truly love at first sight. He took me to the head of police and the Heroes Public Safety Commission, they all agreed that while what I did was wrong, I did better good than harm for a lot of people, so they gave me a choice. I either go to prison and live out the remainder of my time serving for all the thefts I did, or I serve as a sidekick for 2 years to really help the community. And that is how your dad and I finally got together." Rino said.

I blinked, "Wow, so you were a sidekick after you became a thief," I said as I came to a realization, "Wait, were you papa's sidekick?"

Rino nodded, "That's right I was. We worked together a lot, but I changed my name from Emerald Flash to Verdant Valkyrie and updated my costume. Your father and I were quite the team back in the day and when he had your brother we decided to settle down and hang up our masks."

"So how did grandma and grandpa take it?" I asked.

Rino gave a small chuckle, "They were surprised to say the least and were obviously a little disappointed by my actions, but they still loved me. They understood that what I did was out of the goodness of my heart, and I helped a lot of people with what I did. There is a part of me that was ashamed of what I did but I am still happy that I was able to help people," she said before she looked down at me once more, "So, what do you think Tatsu? How do you feel knowing that I was a thief?"

I nodded and gave my mother a smile, "Well, I am really surprised that you did some bad things in the past, but I know that you aren't a bad person mama. In fact, I'm proud to have you as my mother."

"Really?" Rino said surprised.

I nodded, "Sure, I mean if you were a bad person then I don't think you would have stuck around with dad or with me, Ryo, or Izumi. You are an incredible mother and a wonderful woman, whether you go by Emerald Flash, Verdant Valkyrie, or Rino Montgomery I am proud to call you, my mother." I said. And every I word I said was true. Having come to this new world and been given a new life, Rino Montgomery had truly become my mother and I loved her with every amount of love I could offer her as a son just as I loved every other member of family.

Tears began forming in Rino's eyes and she held me tighter, "I don't know how I got so lucky to have such incredible children like you and your siblings. I truly feel blessed."

I smiled at my mother's words and hugged her back, I was the one who was lucky. I had such an incredible family, and I couldn't wait to see just how my life would unfold as I got older.

My father and siblings soon came home, and we all talked about how I felt after finding out about my mother's past. Like me they had all accepted her past and still loved her as they had all known her. I also found out that when my father was still doing hero work that his Hero name was Wild Wind, which I had to say was a cool name. Maybe I could build off that name when I was choosing my own Hero name. the day wound down with me doing a little bit of light sparring with Ryo and doing some Capoeira with my dad. I found Capoeira fun, and I liked that I was getting used to it more and more. All I could do now was see how my life was going to turn out from here this point on but so far, things were looking good.

(Age 8)

"West Side Wins!"

The roars of a cheering audience echoed throughout the entire Sumo Hall, with my cheers and my grandpa's adding to the overall loudness. Grandpa had been invited to be a special guest for a local sumo tournament featuring kids my age and older. Since discovering that my grandpa was a Yokozuna back in his youth I found myself becoming more interested in Sumo, so I started doing some at the dojo. It was very different from the other martial arts that I had learned over my young years, but it was still a very fun martial art to learn.

Grandpa had been chosen as a special guest observer for the competition and he chose to take me with him. My other family members were off doing their own things, so it was just the two of us, it was a surprisingly nice day for the two of us to bond.

"Seems like you are really getting into the Sumo game huh Tatsuya?" My grandpa said to be with a smile.

I nodded my head vigorously, "I am Gramps! I knew that Sumo had some real appeal to it but seeing a professional match in person, even if they are people my age, feels like something on a different level!"

Sen laughed aloud and placed a large hand on my head, "Ah, I am happy to hear that! The years have been good to me in terms of my physical appearance, but I unfortunately cannot stand in the ring anymore, so it makes me happy to know at least one of my grandchildren is interested in Sumo." He said. Sen had told me that after his first few years of being a Yokozuna he traveled around learning more martial arts which led him to opening the dojo which I was very thankful for.

I nodded, "Don't worry gramps, I have already started incorporating some Sumo moves into my fighting style so no matter who dares to challenge me will feel the full fury of Mikazuchi Sumo." I said with a fire in my eyes.

Sen laughed loudly, "That's my boy!"

The head judge came up to the ring and spoke into the microphone, "Thank you all for attending our local Sumo Youth Competition. Today we get to see the future of Sumo begin to rise with the legacy of the legendary Yokozuna that has graced this hall," he said pausing to allow the audience to applaud, "And speaking of Yokozuna, we have a very special guest here with us today. He has been called the Susanoo of Yokohama and has held the title of Yokozuna for many years before he opened his own dojo specializing in multiple types of martial arts. Please welcome, Mikazuchi Sen!"

I clapped and cheered along with audience as my grandpa stood up from his seat. He gave a polite wave to the crowd before he bowed. An attendant brought him a microphone and he cleared his throat before speaking.

"Good day to everyone and to all our competitors here today. I am very proud to be here to witness the future of Sumo in all the young men here and even more excited to be sharing this experience with one of my dear grandchildren," he said as I stood up beside him, "One of our duties as adults is to lead the youth of tomorrow towards the right path. I have seen my grandchildren grow and evolve in their daily lives and today, I am proud to see that the future of Sumo and Yokohama is bright. I cannot wait to see how this future will turn out." He said as he bowed with me following his example. The crowd around us clapped at my grandpa's words. I knew that my grandfather was amazing but the reactions that he was getting from the crowd right now just enhanced my own vison of him. My family was awesome.

I soon got an interesting idea in my head and asked my grandpa to hand me the microphone, he looked at me strangely but did it anyway.

I took a deep breath before speaking, "Hello everyone, my name is Tatsuya Montgomery. I am the youngest grandchild of Yokohama's Susanoo, Mikazuchi Sen. I have become incredibly interested in sumo as of late and I want to see if my skills can stack up to those who are participating today. So, is there anyone here who would be willing to take me on in a bout?" I asked aloud. The entire hall erupted in surprise, this was pretty much unheard of in the sumo world hell in all martial arts, hardly anyone from the audience would just straight up ask someone participating in a tournament if they would be willing to take them on. Even my grandpa looked at me like I was crazy, but he soon smiled at me for the actions I took. He knew that I wanted to pit myself against the strength of people who practiced Sumo like it was a religion, to see if my skills could stand up to theirs.

No one answered me at first but after a few minutes of everyone going a bit crazy over my offer, one of the participants stood up and approached the area we were sitting in. He was on the heavy side with a traditional build for a sumo wrestler and around my age with pale skin, dark brown eyes, and blue-black hair that was styled into a pompadour. I found the hair a little ridiculous, but everyone had their own style, I guess.

"I will gladly take on your challenge!" he shouted which seemed to pump the crowd up even more. I smiled and looked over to my grandpa who nodded at me. A certain rush of excitement went through my body as I took off my shoes, socks, and my collard shirt which left me in my belted jeans. I was very happy I got into martial arts so early because it showed in my physique. Even though I was still young my body was very well muscled from all the work that I did, and I was very proud of the way my body looked.

I walked up to my now opponent and smirked, "Nice to meet you, Tatsuya Montgomery." I said bowing.

My opponent bowed as well, "Likewise, Nakamura Ryohei." He said.

The two of us headed to the ring and stepped in. The rough sand felt course against the soles of my feet, but it also felt somewhat comforting. The sight of the tightly wound hay bale on the edge of the ring reminded me just how small the ring itself was, so I knew that I had to be on my toes about how much space I could use in the ring. Looking over at my opponent, I could tell that he had a lot more experience in Sumo than I did but I had been doing marital arts my entire life, so I was confident in my abilities.

"Hands on the ground!" The referee shouted.

Both I and Ryohei lowered ourselves into deep crouches with our fists resting on the sand filled ground. We eyed each other with as much seriousness that boys our age could emit. There was a small part of me that was nervous about whether I could take this guy on in his own territory, but I was not going to embarrass myself in front of my grandfather or the city that I had come to love and call my own. I knew that the only way I could beat him was to rely on the skills and techniques from my martial arts training and see how far that could take me.

"Spirit!" The referee shouted bringing his hands down.

Immediately after the starting call, both I and Ryohei rushed at each other. Ryohei tried to palm strike me immediately, but my instincts took over and I ducked out of the way. Using my Capoeira training, I used a quick Ginga movement to evade. My movements took Ryohei by surprise which I took advantage off by charging him and getting both of my hands on his mawashi belt in an underhand grip. I started pushing myself forward to get him off balance but his skill in Sumo was obvious and he dug his feet into the sand below, making it more difficult for me to push forward. Ryohei then threw his arms over my shoulders and grabbed my belt in an overhand grip. He tried to throw me off my feet, but I quickly lowered my center of gravity to keep my weight down.

'Damn, I knew this kid was good, but I didn't expect this! With my hands on his belt and his on mine, I can feel his full weight on me. He must outweigh me by over 20 pounds if not more!'

I was caught off guard when Ryohei quickly switched to an under hand grip with one of his going underneath my right arm, he then applied pressure with his front chest and started to push forward. His heavier build made my feet slide against the sandy floor of the ring. I had to think of something Quick or else, this match would end with a very fast ring-out. I took stock of where his arms were and a plan formed in my head, with my left arm raised by Ryohei's, I quickly got my arm loose from his grip and released the grip I had on his belt and leaned back. Ryohei's eyes went wide as I pulled back, causing him to lose his grip on my belt. With his arm still outstretched, I ducked underneath and C-stepped forward past Ryohei's guard and unleashed a powerful palm strike to his face. The strike rocked him immensely, but I continued with several more palm strikes to his body.

Once I could tell that my strikes were dealing enough damage, I quickly rushed forward and got one of my hands on his mawashi once more while I kept one of Ryohei's arms raised so he wouldn't pin my arms. The crowd roared with excitement as they watched our bout, the excitement that we were drawing from our match was electrifying for the entire Hall and I had to admit, the rush of being on a stage and putting all my martial arts knowledge and skills to the test against an opponent was like nothing I ever felt before. I never experience any kind of rush like this in my old life except for when I met my girlfriend for the first time, but this was something else entirely. And the burning desire to win I had raging in my chest just made me want to win this match more than ever.

"What a match," the emcee commentated, "Young Nakamura has been a front runner in many sumo competitions as of late, dominating many of his matches with his skill and power but it looks like young Montgomery is giving him a fight that he probably didn't expect!"

"Of course, he is," Sen spoke as he sat down next to the emcee, taking the man by surprise, "Every single one of my grandchildren have been involved in the martial arts since they were very young, Tatsuya being no different. The minute he walked into my dojo for the first time he caught the bug and has been studying every day for most of his life. His skills, even as a young child, are some of the best that I have ever seen. I know in my heart that the Mikazuchi bloodline will remain strong."

Hearing my grandfather's words echo throughout the hall spurred my fire even more, I was given a new life with an incredible family, and I would be damned if I let one of the men that I admired most in my new life see me fail at the sport he made his name in. I was going to end this with something that I had never done before but if it worked, then it would make a big splash. I quickly shot my body upwards and landed a powerful headbutt to Ryohei's face knocking him back a few inches, I then threw my left arm over his shoulder and pinned his right while I grabbed his belt in an overarm grab. This action surprised my opponent but ever more so when I moved in closer and used my right hand to grab onto his belt in an underarm belt grab. I ducked low and did a sweeping motion with my left foot which drew a line in the sand below us. With my right foot I pushed against Ryohei's foot opposite of me which made him trip forward. I used that falling momentum and my own strength to twist my body and pull him off his feet as I executed a throw.

As I was executing my throwing motion, I looked over at my grandfather who was now on his feet with one of the largest smiles that I had ever seen on him before, this smile was not just one of joy or excitement, but immense pride. And not to mention recognition, after all, I was using his move to finish this match.

With every bit of strength that I could muster, I used my right hand as leverage and kept a firm grip on his belt with my left arm and used that as a guide of sorts to help my motions as to where I was going to throw Ryohei. I spun the top half of my body around while at the same time using my motions to throw Ryohei over my shoulder.

'Left overarm twisting throw, Tenkuarashi! (Heaven Storm)'

I screamed the name of my grandfather's signature move in my mind as I roared and threw Ryohei onto his back and onto the sand beneath us. I stood up to my full height, huffing and puffing from the throw I just performed. What was happening didn't really register to me until I looked over to the referee who was now pointing over to my side of the ring with his hand.

"East side wins!"

As soon as those words left the referee's mouth, thunderous applause and monstrous cheers erupted from the crowd and literally shook the entire hall with its echoes. I looked over to my grandfather who still had his enormous smile on his face, I could just feel the pride radiating off him. I started to feel the corners of my mouth curl into a smile and my excitement over my victory was finally setting in. I won my very first Sumo match and it felt amazing.

I threw my hands into the air and let out a roar of victory, my grandpa told me that striking a pose or doing a victory shout was considered bad form in the ring but right now I didn't really care. This was one of the best moments of my life and I was going to enjoy it. I got myself back under control and moved back over to my side of the ring as Ryohei got back to his feet, as was tradition, I crouched and rested my weight on the balls of my feet and bowed my head while Ryohei bowed deeply to me. I stood back up and exited the ring.

The minute I was out of the ring, my grandpa ran up to me and picked me up in his arms, "Tatsuya my boy, that was spectacular! You worked the ring like a pro, and you were able to win using my specialty throw! I am so proud of you!" Sen roared.

I could feel the blush creeping across my face at the praise that my grandpa gave me, "Thank you gramps, I couldn't have done it without your teachings."

Sen laughed out loud before he set me back down, "Well, you may be right about that," he said making my eyes roll, "But truly Tatsuya, your skills were incredible. I am very proud of the skills that you have gained in your life, I know without a doubt that you will become a great Hero in the future."

Sen's words touched me deeply, if my grandfather thought that I could be a great hero then it had to be true. All the skills that he had been learning in my youth from my grandpa and the rest of my family made me feel like I was growing more and more each day. I felt like I was on cloud nine.

"And I think that in honor of your victory, that you deserve a reward." Sen told me with a cheeky grin.

A large smile crept across my face, "What do I get?!" I nearly shouted. My grandpa didn't say anything except respond with an even larger grin.

MHA

"ITADAKIMASU!"

My reward for winning my sumo match was a large serving of desserts and sweets. My family knew that I had a very large, sweet tooth but they knew that I could sometimes forget to eat anything else so I was only allowed sweets and desserts every now and then. Grandpa looked like he wanted to spoil me for winning my match, so he took me to a nearby café and ordered me parfaits, sundaes, some pancakes, and a few other bite sized items. They weren't fancy desserts that I knew I could make myself, but I love the gesture and was definitely going to enjoy it.

I dug into all the different foods with a large smile on my face while my grandpa had some simple coffee and a few cookies. He wasn't as big on sweets as I was. The cute, brunette waitress that had served us came back again with a large glass of cold milk. My grandfather looked at the young woman with a curious look.

"Oh, um, we didn't order that." He said.

The waitress giggled, "Oh I know, this is on the house, I figured the little cutie that you have here would enjoy it." She said lightly pinching my cheeks.

My face grew bright red at the compliment she gave me, "Um… thank you miss. You are very pretty too." I said trying to sound smooth.

"Aww, thank you sweetie!" the waitress said before she left to go help another table.

Sen chuckled, "Well, aren't you a charmer Tatsuya."

I grunted, "Just being polite Gramps." I said before getting back to my sweets and ignoring the teasing looks that my grandfather was giving me.

Other than the cute waitress giving me free milk, the day went by pretty well. Grandpa told me a few stories from back in his hay day and how he got the nickname Susanoo. Mainly because of his Quirk and how strong he would get when he used it, but he never used it during his matches. He told me that a victory in a sacred sport like Sumo would never be honorable by using a Quirk. That was also one of the reasons why he never let me or any of the students in the dojo use our Quirks when we trained.

As the day went on, I felt a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach. I had felt this feeling before a few times before whenever something bad happened right before. Like a few years back when Elena didn't look across the street once and almost got hit by a car. It was an odd feeling that I had gotten used to but now I had that feeling again. Something was going to happen.

I looked up and over to the window that showed the street outside. I saw several police vehicles drive by and a few small time pro heroes that I didn't know by name but had seen a few times on the streets.

"I wonder what's going on?" I asked.

Sen hummed, "Looks like a prisoner transport."

I looked to my grandfather, "Those kinds of things still happen?" I asked.

"Looks like it, I didn't think any would run through Yokohama though. Haven't seen any go through the town in a few years."

I looked over at the passing by vehicles once more, the tugging in my gut felt tighter almost like something bad was getting closer. As I watched the cars passing by, the tightening in my gut got worse, forcing me to stop eating.

"Tatsuya, what's wrong?" my grandpa asked me.

"I, I don't know. I just have feeling something bad is going to happen." I said with a scared tone in my voice.

Little did I know how right I was. Just as all the police vehicles passed by the café, a large explosion rocked the entire block. The patrons on the café screamed in fear as the entire building shook and the windows threatened to break. My grandpa quickly covered me with his body and dropped us both to the floor while everyone else did the same and ducked under something that they thought could protect them.

I poked my head up and was able to see out the window, I could see every single police car flipped over or crushed and a majority of the police officers and Pro Heroes were all on the ground. One of the largest vehicles, an armored transport van, had the back half broken off and I could see a group of people pouring out. The first was what appeared to be a male, humanoid lion, standing on its hind legs with golden fur covering his muscular body. His face and head were that of a lion with deep amber eyes and a full golden mane. He was dressed in a dark blue prison jumpsuit with the sleeves ripped off to reveal a set of furred, muscular arms that ended in a set of fearsome looking claws.

The next was a hulking form of a man with deep grey skin that had a rough texture and while his overly, muscular arms ended in a set of fists, his legs ended in thick stumps similar to those of a rhino. Speaking of which, his head was that of a rhino with human lips, but his eyes were a deep grey blue that rested just underneath a large, razor, sharp horn that was a deep grey. He wore the same kind of jumpsuit as the lion, but he kept his top bare revealing a rock hard set of pecs and abs.

Finally, the last member of the group was the shortest out of all of them but looked no less deadly. He was a humanoid tiger with dark orange fur covering the top of his body with the rest it fur being white with the classic black stripes running along his body. His eyes were a deep green and pointed cat ears on the top of his head. His arms ended in paws with razor sharp claws that were the same as his feline feet which were bare. The same kind of jumpsuit was on his body, but the sleeves were ripped off and the front was opened up to reveal his muscular chest and abs.

The rhino and tiger looked ecstatic about being out of the van while the lion had more of a calm expression on his face as they looked around, almost like they were searching for someone. Had someone gotten out before them? If so, that was very dangerous for everyone around them.

"What is going on?" I gasped out as my grandpa loosened his grip on me.

Sen looked up and glared at the three convicts, "Looks like we have a jailbreak going on." He said.

If I wasn't scared before, I definitely was now. A jailbreak of villain prisoners was not good for anyone and while I did know how to fight, my skills were no where near up to par for this kind of situation. I didn't even know if my grandpa could handle all of them at once.

"Where are the heroes?!" someone shouted.

"That big of an explosion, there have to be heroes nearby!" another person shouted.

As if on call, several heroes came out of the woodwork to try and recapture the escaped convicts. Before most of them could get near the lion, a rain of feather-like arrows rained down from the sky and impaled them all, killing them instantly. I was in severe shock; sure, I had seen people get killed on TV and in games back in my old world but seeing this right in front of me was more than I could handle. I fell backwards onto my backside as my whole body shook. I don't think I had ever felt fear like this before. I just couldn't stop trembling; I could see my grandpa holding me close to his chest as he tried to comfort me, but nothing was really working. I just couldn't move.

The source of the feathers was a humanoid hawk with feathers around his shin and neck and instead of arms were a set of large wings with razor sharp feathers and hawk-like talons instead of feet. His face looked like a man, but he was bald with deep black eyes and a large yellow beak. My guess was that all the men with Were-beast Quirks were all part of some kind of gang and the hawk was in charge of getting the rest out of prison. That made things even worse if the hawk was with them how many more were around.

More heroes came around to try and fight the beast Quirk users off, but they were so well coordinated that nothing they did was working. I think that for the first time in both of my lives, I truly felt like things were hopeless. I looked over to my grandpa who was now on his feet and looked like he was going to do something very crazy.

"Gramps, what are you doing?" I asked.

Sen looked to me, "The heroes need help, if someone doesn't do something then more and more people will die. I have to do something."

I was quickly on my feet and gripped his arm, "Gramps no! You wont be able to fight them off without your Quirk and you told me yourself that you can't use it for long!"

Sen gave me a kind yet firm look, "Tatsuya, this place is our home. I have the ability to help, so that's I'm going to do," he said placing both of his large hands on my shoulders, "I need you to stay here. This is too dangerous for you and as long as I know you are here; I know you'll be okay." He said petting my head. He then stood back up and activated his Quirk to supercharge his body, his skin soon became covered in deep green thunder and his eyes glowed brightly. He bent his knees and rushed out of the café and landed several quick strikes to the beasts. I quickly ran to the window to check out the situation, but I still couldn't hear what they were saying but from what it looked like, it seemed that the lion knew who my grandpa was and that my grandpa gave the convicts one warning that they didn't agree to. The rhino and tiger quickly rushed at my grandpa.

A vicious brawl soon broke out on the streets of Yokohama with my grandpa using his Quirk enhanced body to fight against the rhino and tiger that were fighting him with close combat attacks while the lion stood in the back and the hawk launched its feathers like arrows, using them to slice into Sen's skin. Despite the onslaught of attacks that he was getting, Sen did not back down or buckle from them. He stood his ground and made sure that the convicts were completely focused on him.

"Grandpa, please be safe." I said quietly. I knew that my grandpa was strong, that was obvious to anyone who saw him. But old age had gotten the best of him and now he couldn't use his Quirk as well as he used to. He was just too old now.

"Ahh!" a shrill scream broke me out of my thoughts. I spun around quickly and saw the cute waitress who served me before was now being held hostage by a tall lanky man with pale skin that was studded with dark green scales and long fingernails. He didn't have any hair but instead had the hood of a cobra where his ears and hair would be. His eyes were slitted and a sickly neon green with a set of fangs were jutting out from the top of his mouth.

The Snake man grinned with a hiss, "Now don't be like that sweetheart. You and I are going to have some fun together," he said before he turned to everyone else in the café, "And if any of you value your lives, you won't disturb us!" He said with a hiss on each of his S's.

The Snake man then put his long nails against the waitresses throat, "And I wouldn't struggle if I were you honey, my nails are coated with a very dangerous poison. So, one little scratch from me and you won't be feeling very well." He said as his long, forked tongue shot out of his mouth and licked the waitress's neck. The girl whimpered in fear at feeling of his tongue on her skin, but she quickly quieted herself as not to anger the Snake man but the fear coursing through her veins made her body shake. The Snake man licked his thin lips before he pulled the girl to his chest and bent her over the counter of the café. He then began to fondle her entire body and then down her legs.

The rest of the patrons just looked on in disgust, but everyone was too afraid to do anything, and I couldn't blame them. All of us were face to face with a real live villain that could kill an innocent woman at the drop of a hat. I looked on at the snake man who continued to feel up the waitress, my fist clenched in anger. I hated this feeling. I didn't want to feel helpless while an innocent woman was being molested in front of my eyes. I wanted to do something but what could I do? I still hadn't completely mastered my Quirk despite all the training and practice that I had done.

I looked at the waitress, she had tears in her eyes and a look of disgust on her face, probably feeling disgusted by what the Snake man was doing to her. I could feel my blood boiling over, I was helpless, and I couldn't do anything to help the sweet woman who had been nothing but kind to me since the moment that me and grandpa had entered the café.

"Please, help me."

I couldn't hear her say those words, but I could see her mouth the words. At that moment, something snapped inside me, it was a feeling that I had felt before. My emotions were all swirling together at once and a mixture of feelings were going through me at once but only one thought was running through my mind: Help the woman and take down the Snake Man.

I knew that I had to act fast before anything terrible happened, but I also had to think carefully about what my next move was going to be. I raised myself onto one knee while I kept a careful eye on the Snake man. He was too occupied with the woman in front of him, so he didn't notice me, I took a deep breath and kept my emotions in check. Nothing good would come if I was going to be too angry at the Snake Man. I felt the familiar electricity of my Quirk course through my body before I willed it to collect into my right hand. I knew a giant strike of lightning could possibly harm the woman in front of the Snake Man, so I condensed the lightning into a smaller amount until it was roughly the shape of a small flying disk.

"Not gonna happen Fang Face." I said quietly before I flung the electric disk at the Snake Man. The disk connected easily, and the Snake Man roared out in pain as electricity coursed through his body. I knew that the electricity wouldn't put him down for good, but it was enough to get him away from the woman. I quickly channeled more electricity into my legs to increase my jumping abilities and launched myself into the air. I collided with the Snake Man as he continued to writhe in pain from the effects of my lightning. I wrapped my small arms around his neck in a rear naked choke hold while I used my legs to pin his arms to his body.

"Let's see if you can handle a Python Hold, you scaly son of a bitch!" I roared out as I tightened my grip. The Snake Man growled loudly as he tried to shake me off, I knew for this kind of hold I didn't need to be particularly strong, I just needed to add the right amount of pressure to his throat which would be enough to knock him out, but it was not easy.

"Get the fuck off me you damn brat!" The Snake Man yelled as he continued to trash around the inside of the café. He slammed me into walls, the counter, the windows, anything he could find to try and get me to release my grip. It hurt immensely but I was not going to let him go. If I did, then I knew that the people in the café would be in more danger than ever.

"Just because you have a strong grip, doesn't mean that you can keep holding on forever!" The Snake Man choked out as he continuously slammed me against the front window, creating cracks along its surface.

I grunted in pain but grinned, "Trust me I know. You're bigger and stronger than me so I know that I can't hold on forever," I said as the Snake Man slammed against the window once more, "But, I don't need to hold on forever."

"What the hell does that mean?!" The Snake Man roared as he tried to shake me off.

"I just needed to get you away from the nice lady," I said tightening my hold, "Now, I can take you down easily!" I said as I channeled my inner Denki Kaminari and summoned as much lightning in my body as I could which created sparks along my body.

I roared loudly as my body ignited with cerulean lightning, "Spark Snare!" I yelled out as I used my lightning to shock the Snake Man. He yelled out in pain as I shocked him. The electricity covered both of, illuminating the entire café in deep cerulean light. I didn't stop my assault until and kept shocking the Snake Man until I didn't hear any of his screams anymore. I stopped my lightning and soon started falling as the Snake Man's unconscious body fell to the floor, sparking and spasming from the amount of electricity that just coursed through him.

I grunted in slight pain and rolled off of his body and onto my back next to him, I took several deep breaths in and out doing my best to calm my body down from the attack I just did.

"Hot damn, that was intense. I never knew that I could unleash that much lightning in one go," I said before looking over at the unconscious Snake villain whose body was still spasming, "But it looks like it got the job done." I said.

I grunted as I slowly got back to my feet, my joints and muscles screaming in protest telling me that I overdid it with my Quirk. I rolled my arms and neck and did a few stretches to try and unwind the tightening feeling in my body.

"Oh right, miss are you oka-…" I didn't get to finish my question before the woman in question ran at me and wrapped me in a tight hug. I was still sore from my attack and over usage of my Quirk but once I felt the warm, wet feeling of tears start to fall onto my shoulders I realized that the woman must have been terrified over what had nearly happened to her. I could feel her body shaking as the tears continued to fall, even though I was younger that her and my head came up to her chest I just let her hold me while she cried. I feel like she needed this.

"Thank you, thank you so much!" she said as she continued to hold me. Oddly enough, while she held onto me, I could feel the soreness in my body start to fade. I didn't know if it was part of the woman's Quirk or possibly just because my soul felt warm due to the fact that I had taken down my first villain but either way, I didn't really care. I had saved a woman from a fate more terrible than death and took down someone that was worse that garbage. All in all, I felt great.

I smiled as I patted the woman's back, "It's no problem at all, I'm just glad that you're okay." I said to which she responded by hugging me tighter. If Izumi found out about this, then I knew she would be jealous, but I just let the older girl hold me like a was a teddy bear. It was the least I could after the ordeal that she had just gone through.

A slight groaning came to my attention, and I turned my head, I saw that the Snake Man was slowly getting to his feet which shocked me. How the hell could he still move after all the electricity I just pumped into his body? Did I not use enough? Whatever the reason was, he slowly got back to his feet, but his body was wobbling severely, and his eyes were glossed over, my guess was that he was running on pure adrenaline right now and couldn't think straight. He was just going on pure emotion. I quickly got out of the waitress's grip and put my body in front of her to protect her, the Snake Man roared loudly and charged, his poison filled claws raised to slash me.

I growled as I summoned two tornados around my arms, "Fool, step off!" I said before I blasted him with my tornados which knocked him off his feet and sent him flying out the front windows of the café. I let the wind die down and took stock of the events that had just happened, and it seemed like the patrons in the café were doing the same thing. They all looked at me with wide eyes, probably thinking about how a kid my age could produce such power with my Quirk.

"That was insane." One patron said.

"That kid took down that villain." Another said.

"How the heck is he so strong?" One person asked.

A small smile came to my face from the words that the patrons were saying and while the compliments did feel good, that wasn't what was on my mind right now. I was still worried about my grandfather and despite my body crying out in pain from the Quirk usage I just did I needed to make sure that he was okay. I walked, or limped was the more accurate word, out of the café and onto the street outside. The entire place looked like a war zone, concrete was broken, buildings had large chunks taken out of them, the unconscious and dead bodies of heroes and police offers littered the streets and turned parts of the road crimson with their blood. The entire seen was terrible but then I laid eyes on my grandfather and my blood ran cold. My grandfather had kicked away the rhino villain, but the tiger had gotten him with a slash across his back, making him stumble forward.

My grandfather's clothes had been shredded, blood was staining his entire body, and large gashes had taken out of his body causing blood to fall from his body and onto the paved street beneath his feet.

"Grandpa!" I shouted getting everyone's attention. My grandpa looked over at me and while his gaze held a look of anger and frustration, he had a smile on his face. Likely knowing that I was the one who took down the Snake Man.

The other villains all looked at their fallen comrade and then back over to me, "Holy shit, did that kid seriously just take down Cobra?" the rhino villain said.

The lion villain nodded his head, "It would appear so. Even if Cobra was the weakest out of all of us, his skills with his poison and flexibility should have made it more difficult for him to be stopped. I suppose that his downfall was brought about by his own carnal desires." He said in a more dignified voice that I was expecting.

The lion then turned to his other comrades, "Saigeki, Toramaru, finish Susanoo off quickly. He deserves that much, "Taka, take care of the child. Despite his impressive display of taking down Cobra, we cant have anyone stop us from getting away." He said.

The Tiger named Toramaru, and the Rhino named Saigeki both charged again at my grandfather who did his best to try and fight them off. I started to run over and help him, but the hawk man Taka spread his wings and rushed at me. Taking off into the air and picking me up in his taloned feet. The razor sharp appendages dug into my skin as he took off into the air holding me in his grasp.

"Let go of me you overgrown chicken!" I yelled at the birdman as I struck against his talons holding me.

Taka smirked, "Sorry kid but if Raion-sama says that you need to be out of the way then that's something that I need to make happen." He said as he gained more altitude. I knew for a fact that if he got too high and let go of me or dropped me I could get seriously injured. I needed to find a way to get him closer to the ground so that I could get out of his grip and back down to help my grandpa.

I looked down at my hands as I felt small trickles of blood drip down from my shoulders to my hands, "Well, if it worked once, let's hope it works again."

I felt the familiar rush of electricity course through my body as my Quirk flowed once more, I knew it was dangerous to use my Quirk any more than I already had but in this kind of situation I didn't really have much choice. I summoned as much electricity into the palms of my hands as I could and reached up to the bird-like legs gripping onto me and gripped onto them, sending a surging amount of electricity into Taka causing him to scream in pain just as Cobra did. His grip didn't release but it did slacken just enough to allow me to get free. I hung onto one of Taka's legs to keep me in the air for the time being, which caused him to slowly descend. I used his falling motion to my advantage and climbed up his body to where I got to his head. To keep myself attached to him, I wrapped my legs around his waist like I did with Cobra.

"You damn brat! Don't think that you will get off easy after that little stunt!" Taka shouted as he tried to keep himself in the air by flapping his wings.

I smirked, "You sound just like that snake fool who I knocked out earlier and I can tell you for certain that you will get your ass knocked out too!" I shouted as I proceeded to land several hard elbows to the back of Taka's head.

"Gah! Stop that!" he shouted as we began to descend. I knew that my strikes weren't all that powerful, but they were effective enough to get Taka's attention and make him descend even faster. Once he was close enough to the ground to where if he fell, I wouldn't be too hurt from the drop, I clasped my hands together and gathered as much wind and thunder around my fists as I could. This was my one chance to take this guy down which would mean less trouble for my grandpa.

I raised my clasped hands above my head and aimed at the back of Taka's skull, "Storm Hammer!" I shouted as I slammed my fist down onto the back of the bird-man's head. Taka let out a groan of pain as he dropped from the sky. Once I was above the ground, I quickly jumped off of Taka's back and landed on the ground below. Rolling as my body hit the cold ground beneath me. I let out a groan of pain and breathed deeply several times, my brother and sister always told me that over usage of my Quirk would result in me having something akin to a serious asthma attack. And right now, I was feeling that all throughout my body.

I took in several deep breathes as I rolled onto my back, "Damn, that was more than I should have done. If I use my Quirk any more than what I've already done, my body might just fall apart." I said as I did my best to get my breathing back under control. My body felt as heavy as lead, and I could feel every inch shaking with a cold sweat coming over me. It was times like this that I forgot that Quirks were physical abilities too, if I overused it then I could suffer serious consequences and that was happening right now.

A loud roar caught my attention and made me look up and my eyes widened at what I saw. I rolled back over onto my stomach and saw my grandfather looking much worse for wear then he was previously. His entire top had been torn to shreds revealing his muscular back and torso that was covered in cuts and slashes that were dripping blood. The bottom half of his outfit was still stayed but the dripping blood from his legs, arms, and chest covered the pants in drops of scarlet. I could tell that Saigeki and Toramaru had taken a lot of licks as well while Raion had a fresh scar on the side of his face and a decent sized black eye forming on his right side. I knew from the state that my grandfather was in, he wouldn't last much longer if the Villains chose to attack him again.

"Grandpa!" I shouted as I tried to get my legs under me to try and stand up but my muscles were so tired and sore that the minute I tried, I fell back down.

Raion took a deep breath and looked my way, "Incredible. That child was able to take out both Cobra and Taka, even if he has overused his Quirk," he said before he snapped his claw-like fingers which made both Saigeki and Toramaru hold my grandfather by his arms to keep him from moving, "I must say it has been a true honor to clash with you Susanoo of Yokohama. But now, your time must end." He said before he raised one of his clawed hands and stabbed my grandfather in the stomach, practically gutting him like a fish. My blood ran cold, and it felt like my heart stopped, no one could survive that. With just one look I could tell for certain, my grandfather was dying.

"No! Grandpa!" I shouted as I clawed across the rough asphalt to try and get to my grandfather. Even if I couldn't do anything to help him, I wanted to be by his side.

"Farewell, Mikazuchi Sen." Raion said as he withdrew his hand. He was about to command his two comrades to release the man when something took him by surprise. The fire in Sen's eyes had not yet gone out. Sen quickly struck the two other beasts on his arms in the groins and necks before he dropped them to the ground and stomped on them to keep them from moving despite them clawing at his legs. Raion was shocked by this and clawed at Sen once more, but the old fighter still had enough gas in his tank to grab Raion's arm and pull him into a tight choke hold.

"Release me!" Raion shouted as he struggled against Sen's grip. How in the world could an old man with so many wounds on him still have this much strength? Had he been holding back this entire time to get Raion's guard down?

Sen held onto the three Beast Villains and turned his head back to see Tatsuya who was looking at him with tears in his eyes and a terrified look on his face.

Sen gave his youngest grandson a kind smile, "Live Proudly." He gasped out with just enough sound that Tatsuya could hear what he said. Sen tightened his grip on all three Villains and summoned as much lightning in his body as he could. It had been many years since he did this technique and deep down, he knew that he would not be able to survive after this attack, but it was his only option if he wanted to keep Tatsuya and the rest of the surrounding people safe. Sen gathered every single bit of electricity he could, his old body may not have been able to use much of his Quirk anymore, but he could still do this.

Sen released a loud roar as he and the other three villains he was holding onto were bathed in green lightning, "Dai…Ikazuchi…Bakuhatsu!" Sen bellowed out as the entire area around him was swallowed by the green lightning and a bright flash of light blinded everyone around.

The light that came from my grandpa was so intense I had to cover my eyes to keep from going blind. The intense static that was emanating from the area made every single bit of hair I had on my body stand up and the fabric of my clothing rise but only for a few minutes before everything settled. I quickly blinked my eyes to get the last bit of light away to see the situation before me. But I wish I didn't. All three villains were on the ground unconscious, their eyes white and blank, and their bodies had static arching off of them. But when I saw my grandfather, I didn't know what to say but he looked like he wasn't moving. I commanded my body to get up and move towards my grandpa, my muscles screamed in protest, and I couldn't really walk instead of limp, but it was more than enough to move. I slowly limped my way towards my grandfather while the surrounding people who had taken cover in various buildings began to file out to take stock of the situation.

I finally made it to my grandfather, moving aside the unconscious villains on the ground until I stood in front of my grandfather. His arms were dangling in front of him, his hair covered his face, blood dripped from all of his open wounds, and his chest wasn't moving. Telling me that he wasn't breathing. Yet despite all that, he had a smile on his face. The kind he always had whenever he was proud.

I swallowed hard, "Grandpa. Grandpa. Are you still with us?" I asked aloud. I knew that since he wasn't breathing he was already gone but my current child-like mind wasn't processing it as well as it should.

"Grandpa, gramps. Please wake up," I said quietly as I could as I felt tears form in my eyes, "Gramps, please. Don't leave us. Don't leave me, there's still so much that I have to learn from you! There was so much we were going to do! You needed to see me become a hero!"

Despite the loudness of my voice, my grandfather didn't respond. No one around me did. The only sound that came from the area was the large crash of thunder from above. After everything that happened, I didn't even see the sky turn grey. Normally I loved the rain, storms and grey skies always made me feel at peace, both in this life and my previous one. But not this time.

As the thunder crashed above and the rain began to fall, my eyes stung from the salty tears that fell down my cheeks. I didn't expect to lose anyone I loved in my new life, but I guess in a new world anything was possible.

The rain fell harder, and the thunder and lightning illuminated the bleak, grey surroundings around us. I couldn't hold my emotions back anymore and let out a scream of sadness, all the pain and grief I had in that moment from seeing my grandfather no longer in this world pierced through my heart like a blade sharper than anything else in this world. The rain, thunder, and lightning were like some kind of odd sign telling me that my grandfather had passed on. My scream echoed throughout the streets drowned out only by the storm above.

As of today, the man known as Mikazuchi Sen, The Susanoo of Yokohama, had fallen.
