You were the one all along
[Crusch: I see, this device you say will allow us to attract the while whale?]
[Subaru: Yes, I believe this Is our best option In taking down that monster]
[Crusch: Hmm, I can tell from my wind reading that you're telling the truth, so I'll go along with your plan, Natsuki Subaru]
[Subaru: So with this, we become an alliance right?]
[Crusch: Indeed, you have yourself a deal]
Going over to Crusch, Subaru brought out his hand, shaking with the royal candidate now sealing the alliance together to bring down the white whale.
[Crusch: But you do realize, If you decide to take the fight against the white whale, you will be risking your life. Is your resolve strong enough for such a task?]
[Subaru: If It brings me one step closer to saving the people I hold dear and giving Emilia more credit In the election, I'll bring down any obstacle In my way, right Rem?]
[Rem: Yes, Subaru-Kun can do It!]
The blue-haired maid said with conviction In her voice. Looking back at Rem Subaru gave a smile for her supporting his decision.
[Crusch: I see you two both have trust In one another, I knew from the moment I saw you two your relationship was more than of Master and Servant]
[Rem: Yes he's very special to me, Rem puts all her faith In Subaru-kun]
[Subaru: Re-m, don't say things like that so casually]
[Crusch: I can see that, Well Whilhelm, escort these two to their living quarters for the night]
[Wilhelm: Yes my lady, Subaru-dono, Rem-dono follow me]
Walking behind Whilhelm, he led both of them to their respective rooms, giving them a bow while leaving.
When Whilhelm was no longer Insight, Subaru said his goodnight's to Rem and went over to the handle of his door to enter his room for the night but had a concerned expression on his face which Rem picked up on, tapping Subaru on his shoulder before he entered, Subaru turned around and noticed Rem's look of concern.
[Rem: Subaru-Kun, Is everything alright?]
[Subaru: huh, why do you ask Rem?]
[Rem: Subaru-Kun, looks like he's...worried, are you scared?]
[Subaru: Well of course I'm scared but...aren't we all?... I'm fine Rem, you don't have to worry about me, you can go to sleep now]
Before entering his room, Rem turned him around, making him look at her
[Rem: Subaru-Kun, It's okay to tell me, I'll listen]
Looking how Rem had a serious look In her eyes, Subaru finally gave In realizing he couldn't hide anything from her
*sigh*
[Subaru: ha, well like you said, I'm scared Rem, I'm so scared of this fight might turn out...but there's one thing I'm even more scared of]
[Rem: And what might that be?]
[Subaru: What If the white whale doesn't show up? I'd have failed so many people..and that frightens me]
[Rem: Don't worry Subaru-Kun, If Subaru-Kun said the white whale would show up, then I'll believe It, If Subaru-Kun said the witch cult was after Emili-sama, I'll believe that too. Even If you said the moon would fall and destroy the country I'll still believe you]
[Subaru: Well...I didn't say that much]
[Rem: maybe not, but I'm that serious]
Giving Subaru a bright smile, seeing that she was fully serious, Subaru couldn't help but laugh a little.
[Subaru: ha, well I thank you for your support Rem, I don't know what I'd do without you, but It looks like It's about time for us to go to sleep, we have to get as much sleep as we can for the fight tomorrow, we won't let anything happen to Emilia-tan]
Hearing the name of the royal candidate, Rem got a bittersweet smile on her face
[Rem: Yeah...Well I'll see you tomorrow Subaru-kun]
[Subaru: Oh..alright Rem, see you In the morning]
Saying their goodbyes, As Subaru watched as Rem walk away In the distance he noticed as she passed by that she had a somewhat sad expression In her eyes. Wanting to ask what was wrong Subaru wanted to chase after her, but decided he wouldn't press her on It.
Entering his own room and shutting the door behind him, Subaru lied down In bed and closed his eyes trying to fall asleep, but for some reason, he couldn't.
Faint light shined coming off from the Night skies moonlight, reflected through one of the manor's windows In a bedroom where the boy now lied, Natsuki Subaru, the scary eyed boy, now at the Crusch camp Manor preparing to start the fight against the white whale, lied In bed trying to fall asleep but something was bothering him, he felt an unpleasant feeling In his chest.
[Subaru: Why, why can't I sleep]
Rolling around In bed Subaru tried to figure out what this unpleasant feeling was that suddenly hit him In the pit of his chest. Trying to take his mind off what he was feeling, Subaru closed his eyes trying to think of a solution.
[Subaru: Ok Subaru what to do, maybe If I just count I can fall asleep, uhh one Emilia-tan, two Emilia-tan, three...not working...dammit, why do I feel so bad.]
Trying to figure out what was bothering him, Subaru searched through every corner of his mind, trying to find the source of this unpleasant feeling in his chest...and It finally hit him...It was because of the blue-haired girl.
[Subaru: Rem]
She was all over his mind, why did she look so hurt back there? Why did seeing Rem look so sad back there leave such a pain In his chest?
Leaning up In bed, Subaru recalled the past event that transpired a couple of days ago before arriving at the Crusch camp manor. Rem had confessed her feelings for him, and what did he do In response? He brushed away her feelings to the side without a second thought.
Of course, Subaru wasn't that dense Before Rem had confessed, he knew she had grown to have some sort of affection towards him, ever since the mabeast Incident where he had saved her, she had grown to become more close to him, always wanting affection and praise from him, and always complimenting him at every turn.
"I love you Subaru-Kun"
Those words...These words hit him like a brick, Remembering back to that same building where they stood and how he had broken down, releasing all of his frustration and anger, when his useless self wanted to run away and abandon everything dear to him Rem had been there for him, confessing her feelings, telling him everything great about him making him be able to stand back up on his feet to face the situation ahead of them and even after rejecting her, she still stood beside him, giving him all her support.
Subaru: I'm weak and small, I'm running away, just like I ran away last time so Why? Why are you doing all this?
Rem: you don't know? It's because Subaru-Kun Is Rem's hero
All these words swirled through his head making It impossible to sleep, Increasing the pain In his stomach In the process, why did he feel so bad about It, did he feel bad for Rem? No, she had accepted his decision with a smile... It was more than just that...he felt bad for himself?
Even before her confession, she had stood beside him, risking her life for him and dying for him on many occasions. "How could I have turned down such a kind and beautiful girl so easily?" he thought.
because of Emilia, right? He loved Emilia.
Trying to think about the girl he was doing this all for, Subaru tried to think about her...but just couldn't, his mind kept drifting back to Rem. Recalling back to the way she smiled at him, the way she laughed at his dumb jokes, the way she always wanted his praise, and the way she stopped him from running away and gave him all her support, he couldn't help but feel his heartbeat.
"I love you Subaru-Kun"
There were those words again...why couldn't he get her off his mind?... Was It perhaps, he felt something for Rem?
[Subaru: No, that couldn't be It right?, I love Emilia...]
Laying In bed for a while longer Subaru tried to rationalize what he was feeling for the blue-haired girl, just why did he have these feelings? Then, those words spoke In his mind again
"I love you Subaru-Kun"
After those words were said In Subaru's mind for the final time, he finally realized what he was feeling all along...he loved Rem. As he realized this Subaru put both of his hands on his face and sighed.
[Subaru: ...what am I doing, she was In front of me all along, I need to apologize to her right away.]
Getting out of bed, Subaru left his room and walked down through the dark hallway down to the room of the girl that held his heart.
Rem's Pov:
As the moonlight shone through one of the manor's windows on the other side of the mansion a blue-haired girl lied In bed In silence trying to fall asleep, but couldn't, as she couldn't stop thinking about him.
[Rem: Subaru-kun]
Holding a hand up to her heart, Rem's head was filled with thoughts of Subaru, the boy she called her hero. The way he smiled, his determination, everything about him made her heartbeat. Recalling back to when she finally confessed her feelings for him, she got a bittersweet smile remembering how he turned down her feelings, " If Subaru-Kun Is happy I'm happy" she thought.
[Rem: If I had run away with him, I wonder what would have happened between us...maybe then Subaru-Kun would have returned my feelings but….It's selfish to think like that...maybe If It's just In my dreams It's fine then right?]
Fantasizing about the family she wanted so badly with Subaru, Rem thought If she could just have those dreams she would be content.
Subaru's Pov:
Finally arriving at Rem's door Subaru went to go for a knock but stopped himself "what should I say to her?" "would she accept?" before knocking Subaru wanted to practice what he would say to her.
[Subaru: Rem, I know this may be sudden but, I have feelings for you and- No, that's not It]
Subaru: Rem...I have feelings for you, I know that I already rejected your feelings, so If you don't want to accept then that's- No, not that one either]
*Sigh*
[Subaru: I guess It's all or nothing..] Subaru said before knocking on the door
[Rem: I guess It's time for me to go to sleep now, the fight with the white whale Is tomorrow, I should get some rest]
Going over to the side of her bed Rem blew out the light on the candle, Deciding It was time to go to sleep Rem pulled up her bedsheets and shut her eyes but a few seconds later a few knocks could be heard at her door.
Knock, knock, knock
[Rem: Who could that be at this time?]
Getting up from her bed and putting on her slippers Rem went up to her door Opening It slowly to see who it was, and unexpected to her, It was Subaru standing there with a somewhat guilty expression on his face.
[Rem: Subaru-Kun, what are you doing here at this time? Do you need anything?]
[Subaru: No, not at all, I actually came here to see If you were still awake...there's something I need to tell you]
[Rem: Yes?]
[Subaru: Rem I've been thinking...and I've finally decided…]
[Rem: decided what? She tilted her head In confusion]
Subaru clenched his fists, and after a few seconds of silence between the two, he spoke the words she yearned to hear for so long
[Subaru: Rem… Rem I...I love you]
[Rem: wha-what?]
As these words spoke from Subaru's mouth, Rem's eyes widened with shock.
"Did he just say that?" she thought
[Rem: Subaru-Kun, what did you just say?]
[Subaru: didn't you hear me, Rem, I said I love you]
[Rem: but Rem doesn't understand, I thought you said you loved Emilia-sama!?]
[Subaru: yes, while I do still love Emilia and still want to help her win the election...there's someone else I love more, Rem, you have been with me all this time, you helped me, and saved me from myself, If you weren't there for me, I would have been lost a long time ago, and for that, I love you. Seeing you look so hurt back there made me feel hurt as well so I came over here to apologize and share my true feelings with you, and If you don't believe me, I'll prove It.]
Seeing as the girl was now on the verge of tears, Subaru walked over to her and lifted her chin up so she could look at him. Knowing what Subaru wanted, she closed her eyes and waited for what was to come. When Rem closed her eyes, Subaru took the hint and leaned Into her pink lips, giving her a kiss filled with passion and love. After staying like that a few seconds, Subaru broke away from her lips now seeing that the girl before him was In tears.
Using his hand Subaru cupped the side of her cheek and with his other brushed away the hair blocking her eye now seeing both blue eyes that sparkled like gems from her tears.
[Subaru: Rem, don't cry]
[Rem: I'm sorry but, Rem can't help It, she's so happy right now that I think I might be dreaming. Rem loves you so much Subaru-Kun.]
Happy to hear those words again, Subaru leaned In for another kiss, savoring her lips once again. As they continued to kiss Rem felt Subaru's tongue press against her lips which surprised her but In the end, she, obligingly, opened her mouth allowing him full access. Taking the lead both of their tongues clashed against each other as they both got lost In lust for one another, Subaru putting his hands on her waist while Rem had her arms wrapped around his neck to deepen the kiss.
After a few minutes of this had passed, they finally broke apart, with a trail of saliva between their tongues. With lust In both of their eyes, both of them knew what they wanted, getting closer to Rem, Subaru picked her up bridal style and carried her towards the bedroom, closing the door behind them.
Lying her down on the bed Subaru got on top of her and started to plant kisses across her neck and earlobe which were now hot from excitement. Hearing her moan a bit from all the kisses she was getting Subaru couldn't help but get more aggressive with her.

[Subaru: Yes Rem?]

[Rem: hmmm, Well Subaru-Kun does seem to be getting excited so I guess that shows It]

As Subaru slowly started pushing In and out of her, he could hear Rem still pant from the pain but after a few seconds of slowly pushing In and out of her, he could hear the moans that he loved hearing so much.
[Rem: Subaru-Kun!]

Subaru said before giving her a kiss on the forehead, pulling the sheets over them, preparing to start the next day to fight against the white whale.
When the sun began to rise again, the sun beamed down on Subaru's face. Noticing the time Subaru rubbed his eye and was about to get out of bed but was stopped by the blue-haired girl holding him down still putting her head down on his chest.
Looking down at how cute she looked sleeping, Subaru couldn't help himself and took the opportunity to pull out his phone and snap a picture of her but forgot to turn down his volume which made a sharp sound waking her up In the process.
[Rem: Huh, what was that?]
She said rubbing her eye
[Subaru: Oh, sorry about waking you up, I just wanted a picture of Rem's adorable face]
Laying her head back on Subaru's chest, Rem wore a bittersweet smile and asked again
[Rem: Subaru-Kun, are you sure you don't regret what you did with Rem?]
Subaru: [Why do you keep asking that?, Rem I already told you, I love you, I don't regret what we did]
Happy to hear those words, Rem leaned forward and gave him a quick kiss on the lips, returning the kiss, they began to get more heated until
Knock, knock, knock
Who could be interrupting this moment!? Subaru thought as he got out of bed In annoyance before he got to the door Rem tapped on his shoulder
[Rem: Subaru-Kun, where did you put that tracksuit of yours?]
[Subaru: Well I threw It on the floor over there, why do you ask?]
Without saying anything, Rem went over to where Subaru pointed, picked up his jacket, and put It put on.
[Subaru: Wait you're not planning to wear my jacket now are you!?]
Walking up towards Subaru, Rem stuck the torn nightgown In his face with a teasing smile
[Rem: Well I can't wear this now can I?]
Looking away In Embarrassment, Subaru Remembered what transpired that night, he did get carried away In that moment and kinda ripped off her nightgown so Subaru had no way to object to her wearing his jacket which actually did cover up her entire body as she was that small compared to him.
Walking towards the door with Rem snuggling up beside him, Subaru opened the door slowly so whoever was outside wouldn't see that much of Rem
[Wilhelm: Goodmorning Subaru-dono, Rem dono, It's time]
[Subaru: Oh Wilhelm It's you, It's time to prepare then right?]
[Wilhelm: Yes, lady crush Is issuing a meeting as we speak, we must get there to discuss the plan]
[Subaru: Alright, but can you just give us a second…]
[Wilhelm: Ok, I'll give you two time to prepare, I presume you will also need some new clothing for the miss over there?]
Both Subaru and Rem blushed at this comment
[Subaru: Ye-s, that would be much appreciated, thank you]
Closing the door, Whilhelm stood there with a smirk on his face
[Wilhelm: Ahh yes, young love, reminds me of my younger days, don't lose her, Natsuki Subaru-dono]
