Interlude Chapter: The Stars Coated By Platinum
She hugged him
To be embraced by Vanity, was… slightly embarrassing, but Natsuki Subaru would allow it, she was the only women who could know his pain, the only women who saw him as an equal, the only women despite all her self-desires and pursuits, took time to sit beside him and care for him, her eyes were clear and her voice was confident, it wasn't love, but a need, and that was their contract. This world hated him, for he was not from it, despite all his loathing he was thrown aside, treated as an object, even by those that should be his equals. The od disregarded him, treated him as a parasite, the people of this world hated him, not for his character, nor for his heritage, but a title he had no choice over, a decision he had not made. Then there was her, in all her obsession, all her need and want, to claim it was for him, but then to cast him aside, to treat him like mere garbage, but to simultaneously claim to love him? A hypocrite at the very definition, jealousy incarnate, the Witch of Envy probably couldn't stand that Subaru was not with her. All more reason to attach to the women even god wouldn't touch, to care for her with nothing but to see through Vanity, it was all Subaru wanted to do.
"Our time is almost up dear bishop, do you wish for more?" The Witch of Vanity asked the raven-haired boy.
Surrounding the two was a field of grey, the grass without life, the sky with dull clouds.
"This is alright, I think I'll be fine Pandora-Tan" The Archbishop of Melancholy, Natsuki Subaru replied softly
"Ah I see, may I say one more thing then?" The Platinum-haired witch turned to the boy she was holding, staring into his eyes, a sight Subaru was used to
"Of course, anything" The raven-haired boy replied confidently
The Witch sighed and looked to the side for a moment before quickly regaining her upright posture, "Please don't be so reckless next time" The silver covered women paused to think but proceeded quickly, "I know, this world is cruel to you, but please, make sure to not overdo yourself, its hard, even for me to maintain this connection without things becoming problematic"
Subaru nodded in reply, the boy from another world understood just what she meant
"You'll face challenges, meet foes new and old, but please restrain yourself, just for a while" The Witch almost came off as pleading
Subaru didn't have a reply, but he nodded warmly looking back to the oh so untouchable women
Once more pausing to look away, the Witch began to develop a smile before looking back at the boy in front of her, "Even if I shouldn't be biased, even if my Archbishops are all supposedly equal, you're my favorite after all, and I wish to only see wonderful things happen to you. Now wake up"
Authors Note:
Woooo, another albiet small but engaging chapter, so after aking a break, and gaining some free time, I thought "hey what better then to write a few chapters for Re:Melancholy over the next few days?" This chapter was just a warm up, I've decided where I want the story to go and I have more confidence going in now.
As for my other story, dont be worried, Im still going to continue to write it, titles way to long the lol
