As the news that Subaru Natsuki was awake, everyone —from nobles and commoners— rejoiced and celebrates the return of the Hero. All praises and glory were sang and echoed throughout the Kingdom as some stared to compare him with the Sage, Great Dragon, and the Sword Saint. Children from rural villages re-enact some of his finest moments—from the fall of the White Whale, his supposed disposal of the Great Rabbit, and even his goofy poses.
Commoners were filled with pride as someone from their community had achieved such feats —someone that wasn't from noble birth, no special skills/attributes, and was relatable to them.
Nobles were elated for such threats from their kingdom —the Witch Cult and two of the Great Mabeast— were either minimized or extinguished by the black-haired knight. Some even contemplating as to support Emilia and her campaign for the throne, as Subaru made them second-guess their prejudice against the half-elf.
For the Sage Council, having Subaru Natsuki affiliated with Lugunica was greatly beneficial to them as well. Not only he eliminated and reduced the kingdom's threats, he also established a significant friendship and alliance to Vincent Vollachia, the current Emperor of Vollachia.
With him as the catalyst, it serves as a path for peace talks and a strong unity between former hostile countries. As one of the main players for the reclamation of the Emperor's throne—which to this day make some of them baffled as to how did the nasty-eyed lad even got through the restricted borders— he was also awarded with a Medal of Valor and was also personally recommend as one of the Divine Generals—a distinction a rare few have the honor to be given such title.
So it was a great surprise that not only that Subaru declined the offered, but also he led a compromise for the reunification and treaty between Vollachian and the Shudrak tribe, boosting his fame as not only a great tactician but also a great diplomat as well.
So it's no surprise that the Miload House is bombarded with letters for requests, agreements, and treaties from different nobles. Each wanting to be met and be affiliated with the said hero, and to invest their support to his camp. Otto and Roswaal—and at some extent even Annerose— had to file, filter, sort and arranged such letters to know and determine which of them were beneficial to both their house and their campaign as well.
But so far, the most influential and powerful house of Lugunica has shown their utmost respect and support to Subaru—despite being at different camps themselves.
The Astrea House.
The lineage of famous and powerful swordsmen from every generation. The most revered, talented, and affluent noble house of Lugunica. The blood line of the destructive and all-mighty Sword Saint.
Despite the current Sword Saint—who swore his fealty to Felt— Reinhard cherish his friendship with Subaru and was ecstatic and honored to share fine moments in the battlefield—such as in defeating Regulus Corneas: the archbishop of Greed. The black-haired knight was vital in finding the crucial weakness of the archbishop and even though the red-haired royal knight delivered the final blow, he fully gave the credit to Subaru Natsuki—who initially refused but begrudged accepted it.
Even though it was somewhat his responsibility as the Hero—the one beloved by Od Laguna— Reinhard cannot do the amazing feats that his friend had achieved. Make no mistake, he is aware that he's the strongest living being on Lugunica — and he despised this as he labels himself as a "monster"— and is well-equipped with the Dragon Sword and multiple Divine Blessings, he can't even fathom on how Subaru can inspire, motivate, and lift everyone's hopes every citizen on the kingdom—nobles and commoners alike.
This was shown in full display on his speech at Pristella, as he eloquently filled the frighten hearts and hollow eyes of the citizens with hope and inspiration as he declared that he'll never give up and falter and end the witch cult's terror to the city—unintentionally establishing him as the newest Hero. Subaru's weakness, humanity, and powerlessness make him relatable to most of them and for someone like him—a complete unknown— to never surrender to the forces of evil fills every one of them with needed catharsis and motivation to look up with their heads up and strive to fight for a better and peaceful future.
This completely blew the Sword Saint away seeing how few words can change the tides of battle—from once an impossible feat— to an attainable victory. Yes, Subaru may be lacking with the physical attributes, bur he compensates it with his intelligence and his unyielding determination and heart.
The half-elf's knight was one of the few people that see Reinhard not as "the Sword Saint" but as Reinhard, his close friend and ally. It really surprises him how casual Subaru talks and hangs around with him—not being constricted to formalities and other social quo— that Reinhard feels that he can relax and not be suffocated with the rigid knight's etiquette. He truly is willing to help Subaru if he so wishes to; as gratitude for his kindness and friendship.
The husband of the former Sword Saint also shares the same sentiment as his grandson. Wilhelm is deeply thankful and fully indebted with the said knight. Despite being powerless and weak, Subaru managed to come up with the three-way alliance with his lady's camp, Crusch's, and Anastasia's for the subjugation of the White Whale—the supposed monster that took his beloved's life.
Subaru Natsuki was the strategist behind the defeat of the Great Mabeast and even played a very crucial role as well— the diversion as the army and the Iron Fang strike it from it sides. He gave an awe-inspiring speech to the despaired army and also boost their morale when he made the monstrosity fall from the heavens itself and giving the final action for its defeat. Even though it was his blade that delivered the killing blow—thus finishing his revenge against the monster—the duchess and himself gave the full recognition of the success to his name—despite of his refusal, of course.
If it wasn't enough, the black-haired knight went even further as to plan out the defeat of the Sin Archbishop of Sloth: Betelgeuse Romani-Conti. It was as if the boy can see ten steps ahead of the witch cult that the mission was a complete success without any casualties—other from the knight who took the explosion as he discarded the fire stones from Ketty's carriage.
Those fine moments— together with Subaru mending his "broken" state of their household, giving Reinhard a chance to be "human", aiding his lady on her burdens by willingly absorbing some of the cursed dragon blood, and so on— made him cherish the budding hero more, even on par with his beloved wife Theresia Van Astrea.
Indeed, Wilhelm would die for the boy if he so wishes, as he gave more than he ever wishes, and even heal the scarred wounds of his own son. The same son— who was once a despised and dishonorable knight— who's slowly changing for the better and steadily walk on his own feet for the betterment of not only for himself but also for his family's welfare too.
The said son also shared the same sentiment with his father and son.
Heinekel can only laugh from all that transpired throughout his experience with Subaru. If someone told him that he'll cherish and care an annoying, weak, and useless knight with no basic skills of being a knight and is basically deadweight, he would probably laugh out loud at them after beating the living hell out of them.
The nasty-eyed boy was such a strange case: how can someone with no special talent, divine blessing, magic, or anything of that sort could manage to achieve such impossible feats? The White Whale? Sloth? The Great Rabbit? Greed? Pristella? Pleiades? How in the living hell did some commoner achieved feat even his own son cannot achieve? The Sword Saint himself!?
As Heinkel sat comfortably at his mansion— gazing through the window the beautiful garden of different assorts of flowers— he let his mind wander off as he reminisce his own past...
The former captain of the Royal Knights felt cheated throughout his lifetime. With his mother and gather as famed and venerable to all of Lugunica, he surely thought that he's going to be as spectacular and special as well. Not only he didn't inherit his mother's Divine Blessing, his father's strict and rigid regiment scarred and robbed him from his childhood. Even though he was blessed with a loving and caring mother, he also wanted to impress and make his father proud. However, Wilhelm wanted him to learn early the beauty of sword arts that instead of giving him a normal childhood, he constructed a strict schedule of sparring, training, and exercise—even at a young tender age. With each bruise and mental and emotional scar he obtained—and the times his father would leave from time to time to fight other stronger foes— he vowed to never treat his own son when his time has come.
So when he met Louanna, it was as if an angel was sent from the heavens to his life—washing his pain and sorrows away. The light that healed his broken heart and emotional scars, wiping his anxieties with just her presence alone. Her blond hair shining brighter than the morning sun, her green eyes that are akin to emeralds, her voice that always makes his heart flutter and her warmth that fills his cold damaged soul up to make him feel alive.
Truly, Louanna was the best thing that happened to him—not that he fully blamed his mother, as she loved him as well, — and he felt he was the luckiest man in Lugunica when she said yes to his proposal. Their wedding was one of the best days of his entire life— he can feel shivers on his spine when he remembers that fateful kiss. And lastly, the birth of his own son, which should have been the next greatest moment of his life— but suddenly, his life shattered into a million pieces as it was just a precursor to the nightmare that is to happened.
After given birth to Reinhard, Louanna health drastically worsens and her body began to be fragile as glass. Horrified, Heinekel left everything, his prestige, wealth, honor—heck, even his title as the captain of the Royal Knights—just to be by her side as her health deteriorates. The despaired reached its climax at exactly Reinhard's second birthday when Louanna fell to a comatose state. The healers dubbed her condition "the Sleepy Beauty" sickness and no cure or remedy was known to battle against it.
The red-haired knight's heart shattered into a million pieces as he grieved at her bedside, wishing nothing but to see her awake and alive again—smiling at him with her green warm eyes. The tragedy shook the Astrea household to its core that some nobles rumored it to be a bad omen. Despite these setbacks and growing rumors, Heinekel desperately tried to hold his family together—not only for him but for Reinhard as well.
When he was five, the "child loved by the world" received the prestige title of "Sword Saint". As much as Heinekel wanted to be happy, this made his blood grew cold as it could only mean one thing: his dear mother, the other shining light in his life, passed away. His mind went blank when his father gave a blood curdling scream and started blaming and resenting his son.
As much as he wanted to defend him from his own grandfather, Heinekel couldn't move an inch as he could only knelt down and cried his heart out, cursing the world to why it's cruel and unfair—wasn't his mother battling the White Whale? How could she, the SWORD SAINT, the one responsible for the long-lasting peace of the kingdom and even the hero during the Demi-Human war, could be defeated and died?
Heinekel couldn't see and hear Reinhard bawling his eyes out, desperately calling him out to help and protect him from Wilhelm's emotional and harsh tirade.
"You're a monster!"
"You killed her!"
"Don't you dare say her name!"
Those words, together with his father's wrathful facade cracked something within him. A sense of guilt, regret, and spite. For many months he tried to resist it— trying his best not to blame the poor boy for the tragedies of their family. He even tried alcohol to dampen those negative emotions that threaten his soul. It was only such time he succumbed to his hatred—and he too blamed Reinhard, who was barely eleven years of age, everything that happened to them.
His mother, who was the sun that shines brightly on the mansion walls, died all because he wished to be like her— and 'stole' her blessing and was left to die at the jaws of the Whale.
His father, who was the shield who safeguards and protects them from harm—despite having some resentment from his childhood— deserted them and never looked back.
His wife...
His oh so dear wife...
His heart, the one that made him feel alive on this wretched world, stripped off out of him, and spiraled his life—and at times his sanity— downwards.
Alcohol became a staple friend for the red-haired knight as he cradled bottles and bottles of liquor by his side, contemplating as to why the Great Dragon forsaken his family and cursed them with misfortunes. As he scour everywhere for any artifact, remedy, and even just a drop of information to wake his beloved wife, he stumbled across with Priscilla Barielle which led to him pledging his allegiance to her.
His first impressions on the black-haired boy were very low: annoying, pathetic, and downright weak. He can't understand that despite being all of these, his father and son adored him as well some of the most powerful and influential personalities of the kingdom. How such weakling does deserve such treatment? Despite his foul attitude towards the knight, he was still treated with kindness and sincerity—which irks him even further.
His perception of Subaru changed during one fateful night during their tenure at Vollachia. Somehow, the enigmatic knight found himself at the land of the wolves and was tangled with helping Vincent Vollachia regain his throne. His liege—who he found out was formerly known as Prisca Benedict— decided to aid the Emperor on his endeavours, thus started the joint mission for the reclamation of the throne.
One night, Heinkel found himself indulging to his vices again—drowning his pain with cheap liquor. As he was about to open his fifth bottle, Al and Subaru approached him and sit beside him. Initially annoyed on the sudden company, he tried to get them off his back and mind their own damn business.
But as time passes by, he found himself opening up to both of them, having a sense of catharsis after a long time. As he laid down everything: all painful memories, suffering, unfair treatment, and lastly, his broken heart bleeding and crying for Louanna, the one-armed knight and the black haired-knight consoled Heinkel and assured him that everything will be alright and his sacrifices and suffering were not in vain.
Subaru sympathized with Reinhard's father as he shared his own experiences in shouldering the burden when everyone forgotten Rem. As he strived to keep her memories alive and was determined to wake her up, he finally succeeded after the excursion of the Pleiades Watchtower. Even though she wasn't the same as before—and nearly broke his heart when she lashed out that he wasn't a hero—he was still happy and content that the blue-haired maid is alive and well. Even though her feelings may never come back, he'll still cherish her and let he go as he focus to be a better person.
Lastly, Subaru gave some encouragement to him that, no matter what, he should strive harder and not afraid to ask help to any of his friends. Despite his wish to shoulder everything on his own, they can at least lessen his burden and try to help come up with any solution to reach his goal. Even though he had done every bad choice in his lifetime, his wife wouldn't want him to sulk forever—and as such, he should keep his head held high and eventually, Louanna will greet him with the biggest smile she can give to him.
Heinkel was both astounded and dumfounded on such kind and sincere words that initially he thought he was too drunk. But with Al nodding and giving him added reassurance, the former captain of the Royal Knight's cries amplified and echoed throughout the bar. Despite the others hearing everything, they gave them the needed privacy and the decency to just slip the experience out of their minds for the night—even Priscilla was both impressed and amused how such person could sway even the coldest of hearts and fill it with warmth, thus fueling her utmost respect to Natsuki Subaru.
That experience sparks Heinkel's newfound respect and desire to change him for the better. As their quest for Vincent's reclamation pass by, so as their individual interactions with one another. With each encouragement, kindness, determination, and unwavering determination, Heinkel finally understand why his father held the black-haired knight to a high regard—he even found himself wishing that he could be his son.
When the Emperor finally regains his rightful place, he asks the Sun Princess permission for him to return back to his mansion—as he has some things to mend and fix to. Sensing his pride growing back, Priscilla graciously complied and with it, Heinkel tries to regain his honor and pride as the lord of the Astrea Estate. Carol and Grimm were surprise to their former lord's sudden change of heart — it could be said it was heaven-sent as their current master is spiraling downward to despair.
Heinkel found his son, the current Sword saint, surrounded with liquor — an ironic scenario he found himself in. As he slowly approach the lost poor boy, Reinhard lashed out everything that he had bottled up in the past 18 years: his despair as he had to live up to everyone's expectations, his colorless childhood as he regrets wishing o be the next Sword Saint, his self-loathing for everything that happened to their family — his grandmother's death, his mother's comatose state, his grandfather's disdain towards him. His pain and sadness that now, his friend— Natsuki Subaru— is now gone and is now a sleeping visage akin to his mother.
Lastly, he yelled and cursed his father; for not being there for him; for leaving him behind, not defending him when Wilhelm berated him, a kid, on his grandmother's death, and also blaming him for his own mother's current situation. His anguish blue eyes piercing throughout his soul— and together with his face similar to Louanna— Heinkel felt for the first time in a long while a sense of regret and remorse. Despite his son hitting him —not to the point of seriously hurting him— Heinkel hugged Reinhard and begged for his forgiveness for his lack of love and surplus of regret and sadness towards him. As much as Reinhard tried to deny and even hit his father at the center of his chest, the red-haired mindlessly cling on to him, cursing and crying his heart out as both father and son shared a sentimental moment with each other.
Heinkel's thoughts came to a halt when a knock interrupted his daydreaming. As he beckons the person to enter, Carol greeted him and informed him that his guest has arrived. This further etched a smile on his face as he can't wait to spend more time with his guest. He answered to her to let him meet him at the meeting area. The red-haired middle-aged knight can't help but be excited to have some time with his guest of honor: Subaru Natsuki.
"Yo, how've you been, Heinkel-san?" Subaru beamed as he waved the former captain with a smile on his face. Despite his happy facade, Heinkel can notice some bandages on his wrists and some bags under his eyes. His movements were a bit rigid and a bit sore and at times could see that he's forcing himself. He just sighed at looked at the knight with his piercing blue-eyes.
"As much I'm glad you visited me, shouldn't you take care of yourself more? You just woke up from a deep slumber that lasted nearly a month. What!? Did Emilia and others kick you out already? Man, you had it rough." he replied with a tinge of concern on his voice. But it didn't mean that he won't slip some snarky remarks here and there.
The nasty-eyed boy just laughed at this and rubbed the back of his head. "Yeah, if only you knew. Emilia was so against of me leaving even an inch from her sights that basically everyone kept on following me. I mean, I know that I've just woken up, but it's too much, even for me. It took A LOT of reassurance and promises for them to let me go on this visit. And that's just my camp..." he answered as he remembered the crying faces of Beatrice, Emilia, and others as he left the Miload Mansion. "Seriously, I'm not transporting back to Vollachia again, so cut me some slack." he internalized with a tinge of pain was felt in his heart.
"Hahaha, that's to be expected to the newest 'hero'. Speaking of which, did Emilia finally gave you an answer for your feelings? Man, it's been like, what, almost 3 years now. Seriously, how long could she take to notice the obvious signs?" the red-haired knight continued as he asked on the progress on Subaru's love life. When he knew about this, he really advised him to just give up and look for someone else but the boy was so adamant about his stand.
His frustrations only increased when he noticed that Subaru gave a little chuckle and focused his gaze downwards.
"Seriously!? Man, either you're a masochist or just plain stupid. We already told you to just give up on her and look for someone else. Hey, since your famous now, there's bound to be many noblewomen that may catch your eye?" he sighed. It's not that he wanted to hurt the boy's feelings, but somehow concern for him. "I mean, you almost died at Vollachia for Od sake! And even after that, you fell into deep slumber for almost a month. Wasn't those factors speed up her thought process a little bit!?"
Even though those remarks somewhat hurt him a bit, he just looked at Heinkel with kind and warm eyes and with a small smile he replied:
"Thank you Heinkel-san for your concern. But no matter how long it'll take, I'll have my answer. My feelings for Emilia-tan bring me a sense of warmth and determination to move forward, even when the stakes are against me. She's my reason to move forward and live and I'm forever grateful for it."
As Subaru once again proclaimed his love to the half-elf —with each word producing a bigger smile to his face — Heinkel couldn't help to be both amazed and proud for the said boy. He felt a bit silly to try and sway his heart away from Emilia, as he should have known that the boy is the type of person to wants to see through his efforts. "For the love of the Great Dragon, please someone slap some sense on that half-elf." He silently murmured under his breath as he covers it up with a light chuckle.
"Speaking of love ones, I have something for you." Subaru said was he was busy rummaging through his pockets. As soon he found what he was looking for, he flashed a big grin towards Heinkel. "Really hope this works..." as he held the thing in from of him.
Heinkel follows his gaze to Subaru's hand and was a bit shock and curious as to why this object produced such reaction: a small bottle encased with a lavender fluid. Despite being closed, the fragrant scent escapes and filled through the atmosphere. Puzzled, he asked:
"What's with that? I don't remember ordering perfume from you. Wait, are you going to do a Natsumi Schwartz here in Lugunica!? Damn, you and your obscure tastes. Are you really sure you're not into men rather than women?" Heinkel mused and banters as he looked at the knight with an upraised eyebrow and a smirk. It was really fun to tease the poor boy as he sets himself up to these situations. Now is no different as he was laughing at his reactions.
"NO! God, please don't remind me on that! And I'll have you know that she had an integral role in capturing the city of Guaral." he protested as he was a bit flustered and embarrassed about it. Subaru took a deep breath and tries to calm his nerves and continued: "It's sort of a medicine for your wife. I remembered you sharing that she's been asleep for a long time now. It's a stimulant that helps revitalize the central nervous system. Medium and Flop helped me find this, as well as Vincent and Priscilla. I was going to give this to you but you suddenly left after what happened at Vollachia. That, and of course on what happened to me. So I thought that now is a great time to give this to you..."
The red-haired man was stunned with the black-haired knight's revelation. Sure, he was desperately looking for any remedy for his wife's illness— scouring far and wide to any nook and cranny and even subjecting to dirty methods — but even if the greatest healer of the Kingdom, Felix Argyle, couldn't even cure her sickness, what makes him sure that this guy could?
As much he wants to be optimistic and have his hopes up, he remains doubtful on what the boy proposed to him.
"Subaru, if even Felix can't wake my wife up, what makes you sure that this thing would? Really, I'm thankful for the kind gesture, but I don't want my wife ingest something that could worsen her condition. Please don't take this the wrong way..." he answered the best as he can without hurting his feelings.
"Don't worry about it. Besides, this is for external use. All you have to do is rub a few drops on her eyes and wait for a few hours. That's what Vincent and Priscilla told me, though. So, at least give it a try, would you?" Subaru smiled as his happy disposition didn't waver one bit. He really understand the anxiety on trying something unknown and the possible risk of making the situation worse, but at the same time, he really wanted to help Heinkel— and indirectly Wilhelm and Reinhard— so that they can be happy.
Seeing that that the nasty-eyed boy won't back down and wouldn't take no as an answer, he gave a deep tired sigh and shook his head. "Man, had I gone soft for this few months?" he thought as he started at Subaru.
"Fiiiiiinnnne, I'll take it. I'm not promising to use it, but it would be a waste if I won't... And why are you laughing!?" Heinkel begrudged but was surprised and annoyed as Subaru started giggling at him.
"Never knew you're the tsundere-type Heinkel-san." Subaru mused as he desperately tries to stifle his laughter. Ever since there tenure at Vollachia, he and Al taught some of their allies and friends some terminologies from their homeland — as part to pass out time during guard duties. As such, Vincent, Flop, Medium, Tarrita, Priscilla, and he understood such words.
"Fuck off! I wished you didn't wake up in the first place!" Heinkel seethed as Subaru's laughter amplified at each passing moment. After his initial outburst, he also laughed as the boy's joy was so contagious.
Seriously, how does he do it? To give and bring such happiness, warmth, and a sense of catharsis by just his presence? Quietly, at that moment, he deeply regretted and wished that Subaru was his own child. "Surely, Reinhard won't be lonely and would had a friend." he mused as he lets his thoughts wander a bit.
After the meeting, Heinkel proceed to a certain room. A sense of grief and remorse filled him as he opened the door and gazed at her almost motionless body— the slow rising and falling of her chest giving the only indication that she's still alive. She still looked beautiful despite not seeing her for a long time. Her blond hair neatly tucked and her visage properly groomed and taken care of. Heinkel took a long time gazing at her as few tears slipped through his eyes. "I miss you Louanna, my love..."
As soon he composed himself, he brought a chair and sat beside her bedside. With a gaze that longed for her love, he slowly opened the bottle that Subaru gave to him. Fragrant scents of lavender and jasmine —with a hint of vanilla— filled the room as soon as he fully opened it. "This scent relaxes the body. How the hell can this wake someone, much less making them sleepier instead!?" He questioned as doubt began to creep in his heart.
But remembering Subaru's assurance, he shook his thought out and proceeds to do what the boy instructed him to do. As he gently rubbed the potion above her eyes, he made a silent wish — hoping that this would work. As he was done, drowsiness overcame him from the fragrant scents as he laid his head down beside Louanna.
He was dreaming...
He remembered the first time he saw Louanna. Od, she was so dazzling that he didn't realize that he was staring at her too much, prompting him to trip and fall.
But it was worth it to see and hear her gentle laughter. How can someone become more attractive and charming?
He remembered on how nervous he was when he first asks her out. Man, he was such a dork but all the nervousness and slight embarrassment was worth it when she accepted his offer. He could remember how ecstatic he was that even after their date he couldn't sleep from the sheer happiness he felt.
He fondly remembered their first kiss. Those sweet tender lips that were the best thing he had ever tasted on his life...
The day of his proposal. On how of a nervous-wreck he was during the moment that it almost took Wilhelm to slap him some sense for him to go through it.
The elation he felt when she said yes...
Their wedding...
The kiss that cemented their love with one another...
The birth of Reinhard...
Such moments, he truly wished that he could turn back time and experience them again...
All before these misfortunes happened to their lives...
...
...
...
He didn't realize that he was sobbing throughout his dream...
...as well as the gentle grip from his hand...
This somewhat gave him comfort and warm that his remorse slowly ceased and his mind continued to drift further to dreamland...
A few hours passed by and Heinkel woke up. Surprisingly, he had a great amount of rest. But suddenly, confusion filled him as his eyes finally adjusted from the brightness of his surroundings.
How did he end up on the bed?
What's this heavenly softness he's feeling at the back of his back?
And...
Who's rubbing his hair?
As he slowly turns over his head, the image appeared in front of him was so unbelievable that he though he must be dreaming or gone insane...
But as she slowly cups his cheek, a small smile etched on her face. With a voice laced with love and joy...
"Good morning Heinkel, my love...How've you been? I miss you..."
Louanna gazed at the shell-shocked knight with her green eyes filled with love and elation and proceed to kiss him on the forehead.
*CRASH*
"Old Man Wil, are you okay!? What happened!?" Felix was agitated as shattering glassware echoed at the kitchen. As soon as he arrived to the scene, his confusion and concern rose even further when he saw the Sword Demon on a daze— and some tears formed at the corners of his eyes.
"Ah! I'm greatly sorry, Felix. But something tells me that I have to go somewhere..." he trailed off as he went off running, leaving the cat-eared boy completely confused.
"I don't know why, but something tells me that it has to do with Subaru-dono again, something incredible." his gut feeling told him as he proceeds to the Astrea Estate.
"Rein, are you okay? Why are you crying?" Felt questioned her knight as she noticed him standing still and tear flowed down on both of his cheeks.
"I'm so sorry, Felt-sama. But we have to go back to the mansion."
"But we just got here at Flanders! Didn't you say that we'll have a meeting with some noble!?"
"Again, I apologize for the sudden change. But we have to go back to the mansion. Now."
Felt shuddered as she never experienced Reinhard to be so adamant about anything —except that time when he "kidnapped" her— but looking at his eyes, she sensed that something must have happened at the mansion. And so she complied with the Sword Saint and the carriage turned back towards the capital.
"Subaru, what amazing thing did you do this time?" Reinhard muttered as a feeling of elation threatens him to start crying again...
