Destined Fate
Clang, clang, clang. The deafening sound of battle woke Subaru up from his temporary slumber.
Subaru: "Whe, wha?"
Subaru looked around, he saw Emilia under him. He tried to get up but he could not. As he moved slightly the blade that was lodged in his back displaced and blood spilled onto the ground.
Subaru: "Aaakh…"
Subaru almost lost strength in his arms as the pain overwhelmed his body. He slowly crawled off of Emilia and looked around to asses the situation.
Ram was covered in blood from head to toe, she was standing with her back turned, keeping the unconscious duo safe as long as she could.
Ram noticed some movement behind her, and screamed out: "Barusu if you are still alive take Emilia-sama with you and run as far as you can."
Subaru replied in weak voice: "But what about you? You cant beat he.."
Ram interrupted: "SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO ME ONCE, NOW RUN!"
Subaru to himself: "Fuck why is this happening why! I got so fucking close, why now out of all times."
Elsa: "Why protect such a pathetic man?"
Ram: "El Fula."
In his current state Subaru would not be able to carry Emilia, any bit of pressure and he would bleed out, but this was not time for hesitation.
Subaru took a deep breath : "Ok, 1, 2, 3"
A loud pained scream emanated in the streets, as Subaru jammed the blade back into place. This was the best solution or so he thought, but he clearly underestimated his pain tolerance. Thankfully it did not take too long for shock to set in, numbing out most of the pain. Even with this newly gained adrenaline rush he struggled to lift up Emilia, but seeing a blade fly past his face was the perfect catalyst for him to succeed.
As Subaru pathetically carried Emilia in his hands, his brain was flooded with countless thoughts. "Why is Elsa here, how did she find me, will this loop also be a failure?"
Realizing he would not make it far, Subaru instead decided to run into a close by alleyway. He found a large trash bin, and as his last resort he hid Emilia inside. There was really no point of him running away, most likely he would bleed out anyway, best he could do is try to help Ram any way he could.
Ram was still putting up a fight, she was clearly losing, but she was not backing down. With each consecutive spell more and more blood spewed out of her forehead and mouth, she would not hold out for too long.
Ram: "Why wont you die."
Elsa: "I simply cant die, unfair is it not?"
Elsa then rushed in, Ram instantly went on defensive readying to cover her face, but then she heard someone screaming from the back.
Subaru: "COVER YOUR STOMACH"
Ram was infuriated, but she actually listened to Subaru's advice and barely warded off Elsa's brutal attack. If she had not heard those words from Subaru she would have died then and there.
She then proceeded to kick into Elsa's chest and gain some distance from her.
Ram: "Idiot Barusu, why do u never listen."
Subaru: "This is no time for that Ram, I cant just leave u to die like that."
Ram: "Not like you can do much. Just don't get in my way."
Subaru proceeded to wrap his jacket around his back, it would not do much but added pressure eased his mind a bit.
Subaru: "Any ideas what to do?"
Ram: "I have an idea, just follow my lead."
Ram started gathering energy around her, she was clearly concentrating. Elsa as if out of respect went into her combat pose readying herself to pounce on any given opening.
Ram: "UL FULA"
A torrent of deadly wind swept through Elsa, the slashes were unpredictable and random, her body was torn to shreds. Yet just as quickly as her body was turning into pulp, she was regenerating.
Ram collapsed on the pavement, she had used way to much power, yet she still screamed out to Subaru: "Run now Barusu."
Subaru ran towards Ram instead, lifted her up miraculously with some remaining energy and made a run for it.
Ram: "I told you to run!"
Subaru: "And I'm clearly running."
It did not take long for Elsa to recover most of her injuries and without any hesitation she hurled her blade towards Subaru's foot. The blade span unnaturally quickly and sliced through Subaru's achilles tendon.
Subaru fell on the ground, but in an effort to shield Ram, he landed on his back, lodging the knife that was stuck, further in, to the point where tip of it was coming out of his abdomen.
Subaru proceeded to cough up blood, the wound was already fatal, but now his fate was accelerated. Ram wanted to do something but her body was completely unresponsive, it was clearly over for them.
Elsa: "What a valiant display, I will enjoy cutting your bellies open and mix-matching your guts."
Subaru as his last display of valiance, shielded Ram's body, if they were to die, he would die first. He did not wish to see anyone gutted anymore.
Elsa lifted her blade and slammed it as hard as she could, but rather than the sound of flesh being ripped it was the sound of metal.
?: "I wish I would have made it here sooner Natsuki-san, but better late than never."
Elsa: "Yet another set of guts, how wonderful."
?: "I Julius Juukulius shall defeat you fiend."
Julius swung at Elsa with great force and speed, he was trying to push her back to buy distance for the injured. Subaru realized this, and rather than questioning it, started crawling away, as he could no longer walk.
Subaru dragged himself and Ram to the alleyway, he got up on one knee and tried checking on Emilia. He poked her face multiple times until she finally reacted and opened up her eyes, but before he said anything he collapsed.
Subaru regained his consciousness, as his eyes slowly adapted to the light, he looked around. He could feel his body was freezing up, but at the same time warm sensation could be felt. He looked up and saw Emilia who was focused on healing.
Emilia: "Don't move around too much Subaru, you are gravely injured."
Subaru: "What about Ram is she okay?"
Emilia nodded: "She was hurt, but nowhere near as badly as you. I'm trying to heal both of you to my utmost capabilities."
Subaru: "What about Elsa? Where is she?"
Emilia: "Who's Elsa? That scary looking woman who did this to you?"
Subaru nodded.
Emilia: "Someone is currently fighting her to buy us time."
Subaru: "Wait is he alright?"
Emilia: "I do not know, I rushed to you and Ram, you were both badly hurt, so I had to focus on the problem at hand."
The sounds of blades clashing slowly grew closer, eventually the knight could be seen being thrown next to the alleyway wall.
Julius: "Aakh…"
He had slammed into the brick wall, leaving a significant indentation, but Julius instantly steeled his resolve and firmly gripped his blade and pointed it towards Elsa.
Julius: "I will not let you through!"
Elsa smiled and charged Julius, she slashed with her kukri, which he managed to parry, however she took out another blade midair that was significantly thicker, bashing it into the Kukri. The force was great enough to splinter Julius's blade in pieces.
Julius was an experienced swordsman, even though he was surprised by this outcome, he still managed to react and hastily redirect the strike over to the hilt rather than his shoulder. Even that came at the cost as most of his fingers had shattered from the sudden maneuver.
The force had knocked Julius down, and as he was about to get bisected he screamed out: "Fell Goa". Two spirits one from his hand and the other from Subaru's shoulder rushed to him, they created a powerful fiery whirlwind that pushed Elsa back on the defensive.
Emilia realized the seriousness of the situation, she instantly conjured multiple icicles, she sent some to cover Julius's blind spots, and other she hurled directly at Elsa. With his newly gained window of opportunity, Julius proceeded to crack his fingers somewhat back into place.
Julius with a heroic tone: "Thank you miss, your help is greatly appreciated."
Emilia nodded.
Julius then gathered all of his spirits and started casting an illuminating spell. The spirits had combined into a rainbow colored energy and surged into his broken blade, it looked as if the sword was whole once again.
Julius: "Clarista"
Elsa: "Ooh"
Julius went on the offensive, he was clearly stronger, but he lacked the vitality and speed which his opponent possessed. Battle of attrition was one he would not win, especially not against such an enemy. With each swing he got weaker.
Elsa: "I'm bored of this dance."
Elsa shattered Emilia's icicles, gripped her blade as if she were to perform a powerful attack. Julius readied himself, however to his surprise, she instead threw the blades at Emilia who would not be able to react in time.
Julius cancelled Clarista as he shot out his fire spirit to misdirect the blade even by a very slight margin. This was the opening Elsa used to strike completely exposed Julius in the Guts. He fell on his knees, but as Elsa tried to pull away, her arms would not budge.
Julius coughed up blood and smiled: "I wont let you hurt them, not as long as I breathe."
Elsa tried using more force but it was to no avail. Julius had locked his arms around hers in a desperate last resort. She could not move.
Emilia saw the opportunity and thrust multiple icicles towards Elsa. However this assassin was no normal human. She proceeded to dislocate her arms and forcefully let herself loose from the death grip.
Things looked grim. Julius & Subaru were at their wits end, Ram was unconscious, and Emilia had focus on healing.
Suddenly something slammed in between Elsa and injured Julius. It was a tall man, clad in similar armaments as Julius, but with flaming red hair.
?: "I knew something was wrong when u did not arrive on time Julius. Great work on keeping these people safe, you can rest easy now, I'll take over."
Elsa: "How many people will intrude in on my party."
The knight looked serious as he saw the severity of the situation, thus he instantly reached for Julius's broken blade. He took a single normal looking swing, but as if in a flash both of Elsa's arms came off.
Elsa's face instantly grew concerned as she had not only lost any way of defending herself, but this new opponent was on another level.
?: "I suggest you surrender, I will not go light on you."
Elsa went on complete defensive, she was preparing for retreat, but the Knight in a blink of an eye appeared behind her and sliced her head clean off. The sheer force of this attack hurled the lifeless body towards the dumpster, behind Emilia.
The knight put down the blade and rushed towards his wounded friend. He wrapped a piece of cloth around him. Not long after multiple guards and healers had showed up. They instantly started with healing injured Julius, and helped Emilia stabilize Ram and Subaru.
As things were starting to look up for them, dozens of mabeasts were flung from the roofs. The red haired knight instantly rushed towards them and bare handedly started taking them down.
Subaru laid on the cold pavement, he felt the slight burning sensation of his wounds closing from the accelerated cell regeneration. He could feel only gratitude towards Julius. A man who not only aided him with his mission but also protected him while putting his life on the line.
Emilia: "Subaru why did you push yourself so far yet again?"
Subaru: "Because I am a gentleman."
He returned a weak smile, as he looked up at the elf's concerned eyes. He had regained a bit of affection for Emilia. He was glad to be reassured that she was still the same caring person he fell in love with. But as he glanced at face, he saw something standing behind her.
Subaru: "NO WAY! EMILIA RUN NOW!"
A blade went through Emilia's chest with great force, blood spewed across Subaru's face. Emilia coughed up blood as the light in her eyes faded away. Her lifeless body landed on Subaru's chest.
Subaru shrieked: "NOOOOOOOOO."
The red haired knight was caught off guard, he would have never seen this coming, but before he managed to make sense of this situation, Elsa's headless body managed to tear the healers around Subaru to shreds.
Subaru was consumed by blind rage. He took out the blade that was still lodged in his back, pain did not matter anymore. As the undead was about to attack unconscious Ram, without any hesitation he pierced the blade through Elsa's stomach, proceeding to slice it down with all his might. Elsa's corpse instantly swapped its attention over to Subaru, impaling his thyroid gland and crushing the trachea in the process.
The knight slammed the corpse away from Subaru with a single kick, crushing it against the wall.
Red haired knight rushed by Subaru's side. He heard gargling sounds coming through the hole in the throat, it was too late, as Subaru could not breathe anymore, he was dead.
