Izuku Midoryia was, not for the first time in his life, beaten to a pulp and lying in a puddle of his own blood, chain attached to a wall at one end and the damned collar around Izuku's neck at the other. Endeavor was furious and Izuku was terrified. The teen had told Endeavor the abridged version of what had happened, just as he had told the detective: He had been kidnapped, managed to escape, and had hid in a bush until All Might had saved the day. That was it. But of course, even if the story had been enough to justify Izuku (and thank god the man hadn't caught on to the fact that Izuku had left out a few key bits), it had not been nearly enough to justify Shouto Todoroki.
Not Shouto who was 'made to be the perfect weapon'. Not the dual quirked boy who was a 'more superior being than any villain could ever be'. So Izuku was terrified, but not for himself. He was scared for his friend that was in worse condition laying nearly unconscious next to him on the floor.
"Shouto, it's time to be done with this nonsense. You let worthless villains beat you and managed to nearly lose my amplifier. That is not acceptable," Endeavor's voice was dangerously low as the burning man walked to the other side of the training room. Izuku didn't know what the villain was doing, but he knew it was bad. When the man's back was turned the teen attempted to drag his battered form over to his friend who still lay unresponsive.
Izuku managed about two desperate inches forward before his arms gave out, but the teen was just close enough to reach out and grab his friend's hand. Shouto showed no response except for the slight twitch of his fingers as Izuku squeezed his hand tightly.
Two giant feet made their way into Izuku's sightline. He looked blearly up at Endeavor, but what the man had in his hand made his heart speed into a panic.
In the number one hero's hand was held an empty syringe. Izuku had seen many of them while sitting in Dr. Mori's chair, often while they were sunk deep into the skin of his arm, but never had he seen Endeavor holding one. The man always let the doctor do his dirty work (except of course 'training' Izuku which he took great pleasure in). The flaming villain looked down with a furiously scrutinizing gaze at Shouto, then following their connected hands, set his eyes on Izuku. A small shiver made itself known on the back of the amplifier teen's neck.
Endeavor reached down and gripped Izuku's already bruised arm, the one holding Shouto's hand, in a death grip and hauled his stiff, frozen body up to eye level, the chain rattling slightly as he did so. The man harshly placed the teen on his feet, holding Izuku until he could catch his balance by leaning against a wall.
All of this was done in one fluid movement in which Shouto stirred slightly from his state to give a groan of protest, or perhaps it was pain, Izuku was having a hard time focusing because Endeavor was still gripping his arm tightly and he was now jamming the syringe deep into the vein of his arm. Izuku hissed through his teeth at the harsh treatment. The teen watched as his own blood quickly filled the glass of the instrument and then it was yanked harshly from his arm and Izuku was pushed back onto the floor, landing heavily on top of the chain. Izuku's head spun from lack of blood both from the syringe and the previous beating. He could barely manage to keep himself awake.
"Now Shouto," Endeavor began, pulling his son up to his feet, much like he'd done to Izuku, causing the teen to snap out of his semi-unconscious state and look around the room wildly. When the dual quirk user found Izuku's gaze his eyes did not yield any surprise, but they did shine of guilt and something deeper Izuku could not decipher, "You will no longer be allowed to be beaten by those around you. You were born from the best and you will be the best." With those words Endeavor shoved the needle into Shouto's arms, the teen's eyes going wide in surprise, before pushing all of Izuku's blood into Shouto's own veins.
Endeavor took a step back, and then Shouto was screaming and Izuku was wide awake despite the pain. Shouto started shaking violently, his arms wrapping around themselves, and Izuku was on his feet fueled by adrenaline. Izuku tried to run to his best friend to do what he didn't know, but to at least try and stop the pain he couldn't bear to watch his friend suffer through. Izuku was halfway to where Shouto stood when the chin snagged and the teen was stuck. Izuku continued to try and pull the chain off, his hand desperately tugging at the collar when fire and ice burst out of Shouto and into Izuku's vision.
But this wasn't any type of fire or Ice Shouto had ever been able to create before. No, this was what happened when Izuku's quirk amplified Shouto's own. Never had the two tried it out as Shouto would never take advantage of his friend in that way, and Endeavor had never made Shouto force him to use it until now.
Shouto was creating huge glaciers of Ice that were breaking through the ceiling of the room all of them shining a dangerous blue. The teen's fire was also shining blue, but of a much darker and deadlier color. The flames were leaving scorch marks along the walls. The room was both deadly cold and hot simultaneously and Izuku's body wasn't handling it. The chain around his neck was burning cold and he could feel his skin blistering.
Izuku collapsed to his knees, panting and shivering. His vision began to black out, and the last thing he heard over Shouto's screaming was the familiar sound of Endeavor laughing.
Shouto was burning both from ice and fire. His entire world war fire and ice. Shouto did not exist, nothing existed except power and fire and ice. Then…
Light…. shining in his eyes
Smelling…smoke
Sound…. of destruction and... laughing?
Pain… Pain… PAIN… PAIN!
EVERYTHING PAIN!
Then…
Nothing.
Shouto blinked and suddenly he was back in control with no overwhelming force stopping him from even thinking. The teen was on his hands and knees, panting heavily. Dread curled in the pit of his stomach like a deadly viper. What had he just done?
A heavy hand was placed on his shoulder. Shouto forced his head to raise to meet the predatory eyes of a monster. "You have just experienced only a taste of what that boy can do," Endeavor stated coldly, "From now on you will be training with me while he amplifies your quirk." Shouto's stomach clenched painfully in fear and disgust, his head whipped wildly around the room searching for Izuku. Shouto let out a small gasp at the sight of his friend.
Izuku lay in a large pool of blood unconsciously. Bruises littered his body, but the worst part was that the teen was covered in burns. Shouto's heart stumbled to a stop. No…
He had hurt Izuku. He had hurt his friend. Tears left his eyes unwillingly as Shouto fought to regain control. A gentle hand swiped a tear from the teen's cheek causing Shouto's startled gaze to find the owner of the hand. Endeavor had rarely ever touched him with such gentleness, and never in such a tender way.
"It is painful to have to carry such a burden as the one you and I must carry alone. But make no mistakes, it is one you must burden yourself with." Shouto didn't know what burden the man was talking about, but he loathed the feeling he got from the gentleness in the man's tone.
"Make no mistakes, that boy is mine. But I will not have you failing so spectacularly again." With that said, Endeavor stood up and walked out the door, but just before he left he uttered one last thing; "I'll have Dr. Mori come up to clean this mess. We wouldn't want all that blood to go to waste."
Shouto, alone in the room with an unconscious and deathly hurt Izuku, finally allowed himself to fully break down.
