A/N: Hey guys welcome back for another chapter of Perspective of Freedom. Last time I introduced Gunther as a sort of teacher figure for Luffy and they have decided to train/learn for 2 years. At least, that's what the plan is. Please review it makes me so happy when you do and I hope you enjoy.

It's been a year since Luffy and Gunther have agreed to be student and teacher. And it was going fairly well aside from the days where it absolutely wasn't. Today is an excellent example of a day where it was not going well.
"OW! WHAT WAS THAT FOR GUTTER?!" Luffy screamed with tears threatening to spill from his eyes. "THAT'S NOT MY NAME YOU IDIOT!" Gunther yelled as he threatened Luffy by reeling back his fist.
"I'M SORRY" Luffy said as he braced for impact by going into the fetal position and holding his head. Gunther stopped then sighed. "Jeez Luffy it's been a year and you still don't remember my name half the time." Gunther spoke.
"Sorry, Sorry" Luffy said grinning while rubbing the back of his head sheepishly, seemingly forgetting what transpired only a few seconds ago. "Hey Gut…Gunther, can we train again right now?" Luffy said as he began to get excited as he didn't always get to train a lot with Gunther.
"Actually, about that Luffy," Gunther started as Luffy's face fell about as he was expecting Gunther to not be able to train with him. It happened very few times but when it did happen, it made Luffy sad until he got back.
'How do I tell him' Gunther thought as he began to sweat a little bit, hoping his reaction wouldn't be poor. "Luffy, I won't be able to train personally with you anymore for a while." Gunther said, eyes glued to the floor. Luffy's face changed into a look of shock as he took in what he just said.
"W-Why?" Luffy asked, unsure of what to really say. "The government is sending all able bodied adults to go try and reclaim Wall Maria. They say that we are running out of food and the best way to do that is to go try and reclaim Wall Maria. We need to go back." Gunther said as his face grew sad as he knew the risks he was taking and the possibility of death was definitely there. He was just waiting for a poor reaction any min-
"Oh, so you're going to go on a big adventure? That's awesome! I wonder what your going to see? Is it going to be different then it was before going back there? Well, make sure to tell me what you see when you get back so we can talk about it!" Luffy said as he wore his classic face-splitting grin. Gunther's face turned from shock to holding back tears as he too now wore a big grin on his face.
"Yeah! I'll make sure to come back and tell you all about it. That alright Luffy?" Gunther said as that caused the two to erupt in laughter as they remembered the past year they spent together.
"Oh yeah, Luffy" Gunther said as he motioned for Luffy to come his way. Luffy looked confused for a moment as he made his way to where Gunther was before he felt something land on his head. He looked up and realized it was a straw hat with a silk red band. "I made this for you when I was told that I was gonna be gone for a while. Take care of it for me, alright?" Gunther said as he made his way towards the door. Luffy's eyes started to water as he truly realized for the first time how long he might be gone for and how much he'd miss him.
"THANK YOU! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TEACHING ME, GUTTER!" Luffy said as tears started streaming down his face. 'It's Gunther you idiot' Gunther thought, though he didn't correct him this time as he made his way through the door. Luffy was now all alone in the room.
One year later,
Luffy was finally here. He made it to the training corps finally! Despite Luffy's outward appearance of being very skinny, he was in reality extremely muscular. He wore the classic military uniform with his now classic straw hat resting on his neck. He was extremely excited to finally be here as he was practically bouncing all over the place.
Eventually, he found a place where he found a lot of people standing in lines as he made his behind the closest possible person. The person he was standing behind was a female who had blond hair that was pulled back into a bun with two bangs reaching the side of her face. She wore the traditional military uniform.
"Oi blondy, what's your name?" Luffy said as he wore his classic grin. In return he received a sharp glare for a few seconds before she turned forwards to ignore him. "Shishshi, man the people here are funny!" Luffy said as he minded his own business as a man with bald hair and goatee made his entrance as he yelled at some of the cadets to get them to quiet down so he could go through his speech.
"The 104th Cadet Corps Class entrance ceremony will now begin! You have the misfortune of having me, Keith Shadis, as your commandant! I do not welcome you warmly!" Shadis yelled in a not so pleasant manner.
"In your current state, you'd be nothing but food for the Titans! You're mere livestock! You're less than livestock! Over the next three years, we're going to train you worthless nothings and teach you how to fight Titans!" Shadis explained.
"Three years from now, when you come face-to-face with the Titans, will you still be fodder for them?! Will you serve as an honorable barrier that protects the king?! Or will you be a glorious soldier for humanity that drives the Titans out! It's up to you to decide!" Shadis finished as he eyed each of them one by one.
Luffy began to pick his nose a little bit as he was getting bored. "Man, I don't know if I like this guy." Luffy spoke as everyone immediately looked at him like he had just transformed into a titan. 'Man, this guy is dead' were most of the people's thoughts as they looked at him.
Shadis began to walk over his way before he was only but a few inches away from Luffy. Shadis towered over Luffy as he towered over Luffy.
"YOU!" Shadis yelled but Luffy hardly looked fazed at all. "What is your name?" Shadis said as he sent a piercing glare towards Luffy. Despite this Luffy only smiled. "My names Luffy!" He said as he sent him his classic grin.
'What's up with this kid? He's not even attempting to salute at all' Shadis thought, slightly sweating as he had a bad feeling about this kid. He moved on from the thought and began to confront the boy he now knew as Luffy again.
"LUFFY! WHY ARE YOU HERE?" Shadis questioned in an intimidating tone. "I'M HERE TO GO ON ADVENTURES!" Luffy said in all seriousness. Though not everyone took it as that as most of the people looked at him like he was an idiot (which he was).
"WELL WE AREN'T HERE TO ADVENTURE, THIS IS TRAINING. I RECOMMEND GOING BACK HOME IF THAT IS TRULY YOUR GOAL!" Shadis yelled with a piercing glare. "Huh? Why would I do that?" Luffy said nonchalantly. "I'm gonna be a scout and adventure the whole world outside the wall! All so I can be the freest person in the world!" Luffy said in admiration.
Shadis sighed. 'Well, it seems the intimidation tactic might not work on him. It sucks, but if he doesn't turn out exceptional we'll have to cut him from the training corps' Shadis thought.
"MOVING ON!" Shadis said as he moved to the next person.
"Huh? Done already?" Luffy said as he tilted his head confused as to why that guy was screaming at him so much. He didn't really do anything wrong.
After the assembly: EREN POV
Eren was sitting down at the tables in the dining room eating his soup. He had just gotten bombarded with questions about his experiences in Shiganshina which kind of mentally exhausted him so it was kind of nice to just…no this wasn't nice. He didn't like living like this knowing that there are titans still out there, roaming freely. He needed to eradicate them all. They needed to be freed from the titan's wrath. And tomorrow, he'll get to see how good he is at operating the ODM gear. He was pretty confident that-
"WHAT!? THIS IS ALL I GET TO EAT!? THAT'S RIDICULOUS I'M GOING TO STARVE TO DEATH!" Eren heard a loud voice seemingly complaining about the lack of food. He did feel as though he recognized it from somewhere though. As he looked over to where the voice came from he immediately recognized who it was. And this was the beginning of hope for freedom.
