"WHAT!? THIS IS ALL I GET TO EAT!? THAT'S RIDICULOUS I'M GOING TO STARVE TO DEATH!"

Eren rolled his eyes as he looked at the person who was causing the ruckus.

'It's him' Eren thought as he started to get a bit ticked off just looking at him. I mean seriously, how was someone like this in the military? He seemed far too immature to be a solider and didn't seem the understand the importance of being a good solider. I mean yeah there were goofy people there, but not people who outwardly disrespected the instructor! As Eren kept looking at Luffy complaining about the lack of food Eren finally reached his boiling point.

"Hey! Shut the hell up you idiot!" Two voices were heard yelling at the same time. Eren looked for the other voice he seemed to have the same sentiment as him. As he looked around he spotted a girl with shoulder length straight white hair and blue narrowed eyes. She had the traditional military outfit but with a black shirt instead of the typical white one you saw most of them wear. She had the same annoyed expression Eren had on his face as she stood up and leaned against the table.

"Eh? Are you talking to me?" Luffy said, tilting his head dumbly.

"WHO ELSE YOU IDIOT!?" The woman said with boiling rage.

"Oh. My bad." Luffy said with a straight face.

"That's not gonna cut it alright! You need to leave here right now! This isn't the place for people like you who won't take this training seriously." She said acting a little calmer. Though from the twitching eyebrow, you could tell she was still very angry at him.

"Huh? What are you talking about? I take this seriously" Luffy said as he raised an eyebrow at the ridiculous notion that he didn't take this seriously. He had trained for 2 years for this, how could he not take this seriously?

"There is absolutely no way your taking this seriously. While your sitting there complaining about the lack of food, people are dying daily thanks to the lack of food we have in general!" The girl yelled as she began to make her way over to where Luffy is.

"Hm? What does that have to do with me?" Luffy asked, fully turning his body to her in the process. This however only seemed to infuriate the girl as she quickened her pace over to Luffy into a full on run as she reeled her fist back for a swing. Luffy however caught her wrist as he somehow made it already at her side.

"Calm down" Luffy said with an assertive tone with a hint of aggression laced in his voice. This seemed to shake up the girl for a second before she broke free from his hold and began to walk back to her own cabin. Luffy sighed as he too made his way back to his cabin, seeing no reason to be here as it was clear he wasn't getting anymore food. Silence remained in the dining hall as one by one people began to exit.

"Eren, are you coming?" Mikasa said as she tapped his shoulder.

"Huh? Oh yeah, I guess" Eren said as he stood up from his seat. 'How was he able to move so fast' Eren thought in his head as he was considering the fact that he may have underestimated him. Unknowingly to him, three people had similar thoughts to him as they also made their way to their cabins.

The next day,

Today is the evaluation for the ODM gear and already it wasn't going well for the young man named Eren Jaeger. He was currently upside down hanging on his ODM gear as he was already failing terrifically at doing the simplest thing on the ODM gear, which was just hanging.

'Why is this so difficult for me!? There are plenty of other people who can do this so why can't I!' Eren began thinking, boiling at the thought of him not being able to eradicate all the titans. He began to look over at the other people. Some of them were barely able to do it while others made it look like a piece of cake. Two though especially stood out. The first one was Mikasa who he was already expecting to do fairly well. Mikasa had always been good at things like this for as long as he knew her. The other one however surprised him as he saw Luffy hanging effortlessly from the ODM gear.

'How the hell is he so good at this while I'm doing terrible' Eren thought angerly as he attempted to push himself up only to fall back down and hit his head. He heard a few snickers from around the crowd as they were no doubt laughing at the kid who said he'd kill all the titans. He was let down from the gear as they asked for the next person for an evaluation.

Luffy's POV

Luffy looked at the kid who he realized as the other person who yelled at him the night before.

'Man is that guy always that angry looking' Luffy questioned in his mind as he looked around to notice people staring at him with plates for eyes as they were all surprised that someone as goofy as him managed to hang so effortlessly.

"Huh? What are you guys all staring at?" Luffy said as he tilted his head.

Later that night: ERENS POV

After failing again at using the ODM gear when practicing with Mikasa and Armin, Eren was oozing an aura of depression as he listened in on numerous people making fun of him for his supposed goal of killing all the titans.

"Hey, isn't that the kid from yesterday who said he would kill all the titans?" "Look at him now, how is he gonna kill all the titans if he can't even use the ODM gear properly." Eren heard plenty of people making funny of him as he eventually got shaken out of his stupor courtesy of Mikasa.

"Eren, you should give up" Mikasa said with a monotone voice.

"H-Huh? Why the hell would I do that? I have to be the one to kill all the titans!" Eren said.

"Its not up to you whether you'll be given the right to do that though. It's the instructors." Mikasa explained. "Since we know you can't do it now we should just leave." Mikasa said. "I'm not asking you to go alone though. I'll go back with you" Mikasa turned to the side to see two people sitting next to her. She noticed one of them was the potato girl and the other one as the guy who performed as good as her on the ODM gear evaluation. They both seemed to be eyeing her last piece of bread like it was gold.

"C-Can I have that?" Luffy and potato girl said simultaneously as they were both practically slobbering from the mouth. Mikasa picked up her piece of bread and as it seemed to be coming to them, it went right past their face into Mikasa's mouth. This made them look at her in shock before they both quickly became angry with her as they began yelling at her as she stood up and made her way to her cabin.

20 minutes later,

Eren began asking all the boys who did well with the ODM gear in the cabin if they could give him so pointers for the ODM gear. As he was asking, he realized almost all of them made fun of him for his comments about him wanting to kill all the titans.

It made him angry, but he couldn't make any retort cause they were right. He was a failure so far, but that's why he wanted people's advice so that he could change that! As he was looking around for people he hadn't asked, he realized there was only one person left. He sighed as he realized this would probably be the best person to ask.

"Hey uh, you got a second?" Eren asked, hoping he wouldn't get turned away like some of the people had before. Luffy stared at him for a second before smiling.

"Sure uh….what's your name" Luffy asked.

"My names Eren Jaeger. I'm from Shiganshina" Eren said, hoping that if nothing that would gain him some sympathy.

"Hmm, so your names Apron Layer? What an interesting name!" Luffy exclaimed while laughing. "My names Luffy and I'm also from Shiganshina!" Luffy said while giving his signature grin. This information shocked Eren as he thought that only him, Armin, and Mikasa were from Shiganshina.

"Y-You are? Why do you act so carefree then? Didn't you see what the titans did?" Eren questioned, slightly suspicious of Luffy.

"Of course I did" Luffy said, grin softening into a small smile. "But I'll always stay myself for as long as I live!" Luffy exclaimed, eyes burning with determination. "Afterall, it would be boring as hell if I was super stingy and quiet when I decide to explore the world." Luffy said, laughing all the while. Eren was caught off guard as he looked at Luffy.

'He's so bright, almost like the sun' Eren thought, almost mesmerized for a moment before he immediately broke out of his stupor as he decided that he needed to get back to his question.

"So hey, do you have any pointers for operating the ODM gear? I wasn't so great at using them today so I thought I'd ask everyone." Eren asked.

"I know, I was watching you! You kinda sucked!" Luffy said as he was once again laughing. Eren winced at this comment, assuming this meant that Luffy wasn't gonna give him any advice.

"But you know it kinda looked weird" Luffy added. "It looked to me like you were doing it pretty well, but for some reason the ODM gear wasn't holding you straight." Luffy concluded.

"Wait so it wasn't that was at fault, but the ODM gears fault?" Eren questioned, happy to know that it might've not been his fault that he was so bad at using the ODM gear.

"That's what it looked like to me." Luffy said as he scratched the back of his head.

"T-Thank you!" Eren said as he went back to his bunk bed eagerly waiting for the next day to arrive so he could get his equipment checked.

"Man that guy was weird" Luffy thought aloud. "But I kinda like him!"

A/N: So how did you like this chapter? Ngl, I wasn't planning on adding an OC before I began writing this chapter but it just seemed to fit the story and I plan to keep her relevant in this story. Josh B: Yeah I'm considering a lot of different people for the pairing with Luffy but I am most leaning towards Annie. Also your right, Oden would make a great character for this setting. I initially didn't want any characters aside from Luffy in this setting but if someone were to make a convincing argument, I'd reconsider.

Tom Philip658: Historia is a tough one. I'll consider it but I will likely just stick with them being friends unless a lot people would like that pairing.
