About 2 and a half years later…

"SOLIDERS!" Keith Shadis abruptly yells. Currently, all of the 104th Training Corps was lined up. They were all currently in a small open-roofed assembly hall where Shadis and a few of the other instructor were all lined up on a small stage. This was the final day of the Training Corps before they disbanded and would eventually be able to pick their own regiment. There were a few whispers about what this final ceremony would be, but most quickly figured out that it would likely be the revelation of the top ten cadets of the Training Corps. There were a few people that would almost certainly be in the top ten, but almost everyone was hoping that they would at least score in the lower sections of the top ten as most there wanted to join the Military Police Regiment as it would nearly guarantee them an easy life.

"We gathered you all today to congratulate you for graduating from titan fodder, to proper soldiers!" Shadis hollers as most of the soldiers felt a sudden wave of relief for him finally properly complimenting him (though they didn't show it on their face for fear of what they would do to him).

"However we also wanted to formally congratulate ten soldiers who especially stood out during this three yearlong Training Corps." Shadis explained. "When you hear your name called stand in front of all the other soldiers as symbol of you ten being leaders!" Shadis stated.

"Now let's get started with the number one solider of this Training Corps, Mikasa Ackerman." One of the other instructors announced as this was almost a given for most people. "Ackerman, if not for another solider here, would be the greatest ODM gear user we've ever had the pleasure of instructing. She has also mastered every single subject with ease and is a model solider." The instructor said as Mikasa stepped in front of all the other soldiers as instructed. This was not surprising to any of the soldiers aside from one.

"The number two solider of the Corps is Luffy D. He is the best ODM gear user, and hand-to-hand combat this Corps will likely ever see and will only improve as a solider as time goes on. He is also great at cooperating with others in dire situations which is an extremely important quality as a soldier." The instructor explained as Luffy with slumped shoulders made his way in front of the other soldiers.

"I wanted to be number one…" Luffy pouted as a number of the other new soldiers just sweat dropped at the fact that someone so childish could be so talented at ODM gear and combat.

"Moving along," The instructor said as he began to announce the final solider in the top three. "The number three solider of this Training Corps is Reiner Braun!" The instructor announced. "Braun is as strong as an ox, but most importantly he has gained the trust of his fellow comrades! Take notes!" The instructor finished as Reiner made his way to the front. This choice only surprised the few people that hadn't managed to get even relatively close to Reiner over the past few years.

"The number four soldier of this Training Corps is Annie Leonhart! Miss Leonhart has an impeccable slashing technique that makes her a force to be reckoned with when she has the ODM gear. She also someone else who is already a master in hand-to-hand combat. She has even gotten, if only slightly, better at cooperating with others." The instructor announced as Annie made her way to the front. This choice one again surprised few as she showed many-a-people there her skills in combat.

"The number five solider of the Training Corps is Eren Jaeger! Jaeger has steadily improved over the past few years in all subjects thanks to his profound determination, something I notice that many of you still lack." The instructor stated as Eren proudly made his way to the front. Though it may not have been as high as he wanted, he was absolutely content with making the top five. There were some people that looked down on him for some reason, but he had earned a lot of respect from a decent chunk of the Training Corps so it was significantly less than the start of the Corps.

"The number six solider of the Training Corps is Jean Kirstein! He has a deep understanding of the ODM gear and with enough experience, may be a commander one day in whatever regiment her chooses!" The instructor announced as Jean made it to the front, albeit in a bit of bad mood thanks to the fact that the "suicidal maniac" outranked him.

"The number seven solider of the Training Corps is Bertholdt Hoover! He is exceptional in about everything he is taught and has enormous potential as a future solider!" The instructor said as Bertholdt made his way to the front, fidgeting all the way. Many people had mixed opinions on this one as Bertholdt very much lacked drive which is crucial to a solider but excepted his placement nonetheless as he has great skills.

"The number eight soldier of the Training Corps is Kiera Shulthiess! She has phenomenal natural talent and very much the potential to develop into a fine soldier!" The instructor announced as Kiera made her way to the front in disbelief. She was shocked that she didn't even make top five and only barely made top ten. She frankly disappointed in herself as she didn't even touch her brother's former rank which was number two when he was her age. Many people had a poor image of Kiera ever since they figured out she was royalty and she hadn't managed to shake off that image which once again added another chip on her shoulder.

"The number nine soldier of the Training Corps is Connie Springer! Springer here is one of the fastest ODM gear users here thanks to his small size which gives him a boost in agility. He will most certainly make a fine solider once he gets some experience under his belt." The instructor finished as Connie made his way to the front, all the while smiling like an idiot at the fact that he actually made it to the top ten. That would show the people back at his village saying he wouldn't make it and that he was "too short".

"The number ten solider is Sasha Braus! She was phenomenal instincts and does pretty well at gaining the trust of her comrades!" The instructor finished as Sasha made her way to the front, subconsciously thinking about whether or not this would award her more food or not. Most people liked Sasha mostly for the fact that she was comedy relief in a place that would otherwise only warrant hard work and depressing thoughts. But she had genuinely gained the trust of those who she got close to so she was liked by almost everyone but those who took this completely seriously.

"These are the ten leaders of the 104th Training Corps." Shadis said as he took over. "You should look up to these people as all these soldiers have the potential to do great things and be great soldiers. Before we dismiss the 104th Training Corps for the last time I just wanted to remind you all that in a few weeks' time, you will all be choosing which regiment you will be joining. Make sure you are careful with your choice and think it through properly. You are all dismissed." Shadis closed as all of the soldier dispersed to the dining hall to have one more meal there before they would leave.

1 hour later, 7:00 P.M….

As the dining hall that they were all in was bustling with noise, all of the soon to be soldiers were having a good time for their last night as cadets. Luffy was currently hanging out at a table by his self. As he is quickly downing his food, Luffy hears someone sit down next to him. Looking to the left to see who it is, he is partially surprised to see Annie sitting down next to him.

"Ooooo hey Annie!" Luffy excitedly says as he stands perched on his sit facing her. He usually sits by Eren, Mikasa, and Armin, but they left early and let Luffy have a lot of their leftovers which made Luffy happy, so he didn't follow them.

Annie however ignores Luffy and focuses on eating the rest of her bread. Luffy however makes this difficult as he remains perched in his seat, waiting for her to respond. This begins to attract a small amount of attention.

To avoid this attention from spreading, Annie finally yields and responds with an annoyed "What" as she sends a glare in Luffy's direction. This causes Luffy to finally sit down in his seat like a normal person

"I just wanted to talk to you! I mean it's been a while right! You ignore me every time I try to talk to you." Luffy says with a grin. The last sentence caused Annie to twitch as miniscule blush appeared on her face.

Before she could even attempt to retort though a voice rung throughout the dining hall. "You'll never beat them!" Suddenly silence took over the dining hall as everyone stopped to look at who said that.

Thomas and Eren were towards the entrance of the dining hall as they look at each other in silence for what felt like an eternity. Thomas had an expression of distress on his face while Eren looked semi-calm as a trail of sweat beaded down his face. Thomas, seemingly noting the silence, spoke up once more.

"Y-You do know right? How many tens of thousands have been eaten? We lost over twenty percent of population so we know for sure. Humans can never defeat titans." Another silence covered the dining hall as Thomas looked down anxiously.

"And?" Eren replied which caught the distressed Thomas and a few of those around him attention. "If we can't win, does that make it okay just to give up?" Eren said, this time with a bit more force.

"W-Well," Thomas tried to reply, but couldn't force any words out of his mouth.

"Humanity has only suffered defeat so far, I know. But that's only because we didn't know anything about titans then. Fighting them head-on is pointless sure. We did lose, but the information we gained gives us hope for the next time!" Eren emphasized as everyone at this point was paying attention to Eren's words.

"Will we ignore and abandon the tactics that cost tens of thousands of lives to develop, and let the titans slaughter us all without a fight?! The hell I am! I will exterminate every last one of the titans and go see what the world looks like!" Eren stressed as a large portion of the room looked on in shock before Eren stormed off, Mikasa and Armin following behind. In the dining hall, there was pure silence for a little while before a boisterous laugh echoed throughout the dining hall. This laugh of course, belonged to Luffy as he smirked.

'You and me both, Eren!' Luffy thought in anticipation for his time as a soldier.

The next day, around 11:00 am…

Luffy, Armin, and a few of the other soldiers were cleaning up some of the cannons on the left side of the wall of the Trost district. Or at least the other soldiers were as Luffy was trying to jump off the wall of Trost into the Wall Maria zone.

"S-Stop it Luffy! Are you trying to die?!" Armin shouted as he was holding back an eager Luffy.

"Let go of me Krista!" Luffy yelled back.

"Krista?!" Armin yelled in shock horror. This statement caused him to fall to the ground in depression as he was once again mistaken as Krista by Luffy.

Armin looked up, fully expecting Luffy to jump off into Wall Maria and for him to never see him again.

This however didn't happen as Luffy stopped right at the edge. Armin looked on in silence for a bit before Luffy grabbed the top of his hat and look out into the clear blue sky. He wanted to see all of the lands that this blue sky watched over.

"Shishishi, I can't wait to be a scout!" Luffy spoke giddily. Armin looked on, remembering exactly why Luffy and Eren were so similar in that regard. He also couldn't wait to see the world, but sometimes he felt his motivation was nowhere near as high as those two, even if he didn't know what Luffy's motivations were.

*BOOM*

This shaking ground was an oh so familiar feeling that both Luffy and Armin had experienced before. As both of them turned towards the entrance of the Trost district they saw something that shook them as it did 5 years ago.

The colossal titan appeared.

A/N: Hey so how was the finale? I feel that this was about as good of a closing point as I was going to get as I really plan for next part to be the rest of Trost. I am also thinking about taking Kiera out of Luffy's "love interests" but I'm still debating about that idea so there are no absolutes for right now so don't worry about that yet if you want that pairing. The only absolute is that Annie will be among the love interests. I hope that you all have a good rest of you days/nights and lets now get to the review part of the story!

Reviews:

Diamondhero: I understand your point of view on that but hear me out. Kiera was basically just dragged a long and was still in shock about the fact that she had finally been saved. That's why at the end, she tries to talk to him some more so she can learn more about him, but she obviously doesn't get that chance as Luffy dips before she can talk more to him. Also, in her eyes at least, this Luffy is much worse to the one that saved her. I hope that answered your review, and by the way, thanks for the review!
