![]() Author has written 3 stories for Vampire Diaries, Doctor Who, and Torchwood. Dear all, My name is Ains. I'm Australian, as shown by the little flag above and I am currently a uni student, studying Economics. My hobbies include reading, writing, watching movies and studying the taxonomy of animals. I hope to one day be a research economist and help limit the effects of risk on the development of underdeveloped countries, and somehow in doing so change the world. I have just one philosophy: freedom of speech and freedom of action, as long as both speech and action is not used to limit the vital rights of others. I believe all people have a right to be just the way they are: male; female; white; black; Hispanic; Asian; of a specific political view; of any religion; from any country; gay; straight; bisexual; transgender; racist; sexist; ect. People are the way they are and even if someone else's views are different from mine I will as Voltaire states, "Defend to the death their right to say it." We all are a little bit afraid of what is not that same as us and we should accept that fear in all other people, not just ourselves. It is not wrong to know that different people are different and to not be completely comfortable with that difference. In this was it is ok to be a little bit sexist or a little bit racist or a little bit homophobic. And it is ok to accept that some of this is just the way things are; as we shouldn't try to change other people's views. This is not to say that discriminating against others is a good thing to do; opinions may be expressed as long as they do not impact the rights of others. Personally I am a white, female, Australian, bisexual atheist, believing in freedom of speech and I am a Chicago School Economist. We are all individuals ("I'm not!") and we should accept that individuality, not hide from it. If you are a firm believer in Gay Rights, as I am, you shouldn't try to force others to be more accepting of homosexuality than they are; THIS WAY LEADS TO CONFLICT! For this reason I am in favour of gay marriage, but not in favour of forcing unwilling churches to marry homosexual couples. Everyone has a right to free speech, not just those with politically correct views. In the same token, if you don't like homosexuality don't protest gay marriage; it doesn't affect you and it just impedes on people's rights and that isn't right. This philosophy should stand for everyone, for every day of our lives. Life is short and we shouldn't have to spend every day worrying about offending someone who has nothing to do with us, and as long as no one is marching down the streets carrying pitch forks, saying, "All Christians must die," this isn't something we should ever have to worry about. I like to carry this philosophy to my writing; I will try my hardest to be accepting of all opinions other people have and of all people's writing styles and content. Please show the same courtesy to me. If you don't like something, just stop reading, you can express your opinion, but don't be unnecessarily cruel in your comments, ect. If our opinions are really that different I'm probably not worth your time of day anyway! In the same token, reviews are well loved here and if there really is something I could improve on in my writing, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks for taking the time to read this (if you got this far). Ains AGAINST HOMOPHOBIA AND ANY OTHER FORMS OF DISCRIMINATION: I am the boy who never finished high school, because I got called a fag everyday THE THINGS THAT ARE JUST SO ME: If you have ever had a crush on a book character (Do I really need to say who?) copy this to your profile. If you hear the voices of characters (Again, do I really need to say who...) in your head, put this onto your profile. Geeks are smart. Geeks are cool. Geeks make up over 70 percent of the Universe's populace, or this one's, anyway. So geeks overpower all the rich and popular people, anyway. If you are a geek and proud of it, put this on your profile. If you probably need a life but have no intentions of getting one, put it on your profile. A large percentage of writers don't know the difference between "your" and "you're". If you are one of the ones that do and want to deck 'em, put this in your profile. Did you know the average American only reads 3 books a year? If you don't believe that it's even possible to read that little, copy and paste this onto your profile. If you've ever seen a movie or a TV show so many times you can quote it word for word and you do at random times or when the moment seems to need a quote, even when whoever you are quoting it to doesn't understand it; put this in your profile. WHETHER IT'S BETWEEN TWO MALES, TWO FEMALES, OR A MALE AND A FEMALE, LOVE IS LOVE!! ...if you agree, put this in your profile. Admitting you are weird means you are normal. Saying that you are normal is odd. If you admit that you are weird and like it, copy this onto your profile. If you can easily finish a novel in one day, put this on your profile! If you have ever zoned out for more than five consecutive minutes, copy this into your profile. If you get irritated by people who use American spellings for character speech in stories that are set in Britain or Australia, copy and paste this into your profile. paste this into your bio if you have ever burst out laughing in an empty room If you've been on the computer for hours on end, reading numerous fanfictions, copy this onto your profile. If you have ever gotten so completely sidetracked in a conversation that you don't remember why you were talking in the first place, copy this into your profile If you've ever tripped over a WATCH YOUR STEP SIGN copy this into your profile If at one time you misspelled or forgot how to spell a word less than four letters...copy and paste this onto your profile If you or your best friend is insane copy and paste this onto your profile. If you have ever run into a door, copy this into your profile If you've ever tripped over air, copy this into your profile If you've ever pushed on a door that said pull (or Vice Versa) copy this into your profile If you've walked under something that was about two feet above your head and ducked anyway copy and paste this is your profile If you've ever been standing straight up and suddenly fell down for no apparent reason, copy and paste this into your profile. If you haven't died yet, copy and paste this onto your profile. If you have ever forgotten what you were going to say, right before you say it, copy this into your profile If you ever read past two in the morning, copy and paste this to your profile. I know you love me; clumsy, weird, nerdy, annoying as I am. DON'T FORGET TO REVIEW. |
