Makai Knight Huntress
"Legends, stories scattered through time. Mankind has grown quite fond of recounting the exploits of heroes and villains, forgetting so easily, that we are remnants, by-products of a forgotten past.
Man born from dust, was strong, wise, and resourceful. But he was born into an unforgiving world. An inevitable darkness, creatures of destruction.
The creatures of Grimm set their sights on man, and all of his creations. These forces clashed and it seemed the darkness was intent on returning man's brief existence to the void. However even the smallest spark of hope, is enough to ignite change and in time, man's passion, resourcefulness and ingenuity, led them to the tools that would help even the odds. This power was appropriately named 'Dust'.
Nature's wrath in hand, man lit their way through the darkness, and in the shadow's absence, came strength, civilization, and most importantly, life.
But even the most brilliant lights, eventually flicker and die; and when they're gone… darkness will return.
But the dark cannot live without the light, nor can the light live without the dark. The light will return from even the tiniest of sparks, and burst into a brilliant flame to burn on for centuries."
A flint is struck, once, twice, thrice, before the sparks erupt into a brilliant flame, taking on the shape of a wolf, howling to the heavens, with the shattered moon behind its silhouette, as a feral, guttural growl is heard through the starry night sky, before transitioning to a full moon.
Down below, in the wild foliage of the forest, a lone cloaked figure traveled along the trail, walking calmly through the wooded area, humming a gentle tune as it seemed they weren't paying attention to their surroundings, with multiple shadowed figures running through the trees.
"Kali." A voice spoke, gaining her attention as she raised her right hand, showing the ornate skull ring on her middle finger. "We've been surrounded by Beowolves."
"Thanks Zaruba." Kali said.
"What are you gonna do?" Zaruba questioned as they entered a large clearing.
"What I was hired to do." Kali said, as the Beowolves came out of the foliage, creeping closer to Kali as she stood in the middle of the clearing.
"Good luck." Zaruba said.
Removing her hood, Kali revealed a full head of luscious royal blue hair, with scarlet roots, and silver eyes.
As if that were the cue to attack, the Beowolves charged at Kali. The one leading the charge swiped his claws at her, but all the Grimm sliced through was her cloak, confusing it, before the Beowolf felt a heavy impact in its solar-plexus, and was sent flying back through the rest of the horde of Beowolves, dissipating into dust before the rest of them turned to look at their target.
Standing there, with the cloak no longer obstruction her body, Kali was revealed to the Beowolves.
She stood tall and proud with a Marto Veracity Hercules sword at her hip, wearing a tied off backless halter top, that strained to keep her I-Cup chest contained, looking a couple sizes too small, with a qipao loin flap, over a pair of shorts, leaving her bare belly exposed, showing off the navel piercing she had.
Accompanying this style of clothing, Kali wore a pair of black samurai vambraces that looked like they were forged from a metal fabric, with matching combat heeled boots, reaching up to her mid-thighs, with armored plating on both sides of the shins and on the front of her thighs.
"Let's dance." Kali smirked.
(Cue Music… Red like Roses Pt1: RWBY)
Running towards the Beowolves, Kali quickly unsheathed her blade, and pivoted to the side, simultaneously swinging her blade to the side, and slicing the head off the Beowolf, turning it to dust.
Running forward, Kali maneuvered herself through the rest of the Beowolf pack, moving swiftly through the gaps in their defenses, swinging her blade at any that crossed her path, before she began sliding to a stop, and jumped up, her feet hitting the bark of a tree, causing it to splinter and crack. Kali pushed off the wood, sending her flying back towards the center of the clearing, while also making the tree fall as the damage to it was too great, making it land on several Beowolves, killing them.
Sticking her blade into the ground, Kali slowed her speed until she was back in the center of the clearing, and swinging her blade away, before sheathing it.
"Don't wanna take away the fun too soon." Kali smirked, before pulling out a couple lengths of chain, connected to some carabiners. Kali linked the tiny carabiners to her Samurai Vambraces, and with a flick of her wrists, a pair of crescent blades formed on her forearms, before they turned into chained sickles, resting in her hands, with another flick of her arms.
Racing forward, Kali swiped her blades through the horde of Beowolves, taking more of them out with each swipe. Twisting and turning into the gaps of their defenses, Kali began to spin her weapons around, Kali sent the chained blades through the spaces between the Beowolves, before flipping them sideways like whips, and pulling them back hard, before the blades began cutting through the Beowolves like a hot knife through butter.
Grabbing her weapons as they returned to her, Kali slowly glided her hands over the blades, causing runes engraved into the metal, to glow before the crescent blades began to grow and extend with violet light, becoming larger than they already were.
Kali dropped the enlarged weapons to the ground, and marched forward, letting the chains lengthen behind her, before grabbing the chains, and pulling the chains forward, hard and strong. The chained sickles came flying towards the Beowolves, ducking beneath them, as the blades sliced through the Beowolves bodies. Jumping back, Kali pulled back on the chained weapons, and began to spin, bringing the chains weapons with her, as she let the chains length increase, steadily cutting through more and more of the Beowolves, until the spinning came to a slow and steady halt, with the sickles, devoid of their light extensions, returned to her hands, and all the Beowolves were dust.
"Keep your guard up Kali. The Alpha is close by." Zaruba said.
"Right."
Kali let out a calming breath, putting her sickled blades away, and pulled a folded up device from her back, before unfurling it, revealing the item as a folded archery bow, with runes carved into it.
Closing her eyes, Kali focused her aura on the area around her as she pulled the string on the arrow back, causing the runes to glow, and a knotted arrow to form, before she twisted around, and released it. Almost instantly, the thunk of the arrow hitting something reached her ears, and she opened her eyes to see the Alpha with the arrow sticking out of its forehead.
(End Song…)
"That's the last of them." Zaruba said, as the Alpha turned to dust.
"About time." Kali sighed. "I've been hunting this pack for days, I need an actual bath and bed."
"Well you know what they say. To catch wolves, you need wolves." Zaruba chuckled.
"Another pun like that, and I'll dip you in honey and use you as bait for Rapier Wasps the next time I need to collect their venom." Kali said.
"Apologies, I forget sometimes you being a Canis Lupus Faunus, is a sensitive subject." Zaruba said.
Sticking both pinkies in her mouth, Kali whistled, calling for her ride, which came fairly quickly as a large motorcycle came driving through the forest, and with a sharp tun, skid to a halt in front of her.
Mounting the bike, Kali revved the engine, and began riding off into the distance, to the town, who's leader had hired her. The benefit to being the type of Faunus she was, Kali was able to pass for human, so she didn't exactly get racially discriminated for being a Faunus, unless she tells someone.
Reaching the town she'd been hired by, Kali dismounted her bike, just as the village leader came out to greet her.
"Has our Beowolf problem been dealt with?" The village leader asked.
"It has. The entire pack has been wiped out." Kali stated.
"Thank you. You've saved our village." The leader smiled proudly, before handing her several cards. "The reward, as we agreed upon."
"Thanks." Kali smiled. "I'd recommend to keep costs on Huntsmen down, you make a concrete wall, a bit too high for any land based Grimm to climb, and put some spikes in them so the Grimm will kill themselves if they try to climb the wall."
"Your advice is noted." The leaders said. "Please, feel free to stay at the inn, and enjoy our natural hot spring."
"Hot spring?" Kali asked, trying, and succeeding, to hide her excitement on hearing there was a hot spring.
~Later~
"Ah, this feels so nice on my aching body." Kali smiled, sinking into the hot water. 'Only problem is, the village leader failed to mention this was a communal, unisex hot spring.' She thought, as she spotted several men and women in the hot spring, cuddling with one another. 'Eh, it's whatever. I'm just happy to finally be in a hot spring again.'
After relaxing for as long as she could in the hot spring, Kali took her leave, returning to her room at the inn, finding a hot meal waiting for her.
"This is some service." Kali smiled, grabbing a piece of toast, before stopping as she spotted a crow sitting on the open window sill. "What the? I don't remember leaving the window open."
Shooing the crow away, Kali closed the window, and locked it, before returning to her meal, only to stop when she smelt something in the food, making her frown.
"Poison." Kali sighed.
"Looks like someone wants you dead Kali." Zaruba stated.
"An' whoever they are, they aren't gone." Kali said, peering at her closet. "You can come on out now. I know you're there."
There was no response for several minutes, before the closet door opened, and out stepped the last person she expected to try and poison her.
"Seriously? You hire me to deal with your Beowolf problem, and then you try to kill me to take back the money you paid me?" Kali questioned.
"What can I say? I'm not exactly big on paying for the services of Huntsmen and Huntresses." The village leader said.
"Well, guess what. If you're wanting your money back, then you're shit out of luck." Kali stated, the pupils of her eyes shrinking in anger as she growled at him, the growl sounding guttural, like a feral animal.
The village leader looked at Kali in horror, as a looming shadow grew over him, and that's when he realized, he fucked up.
A short while later, Kali could be seen walking out of the inn, wearing a black leather mini jacket over her top, with the sleeves barely reaching her mid forearms. Stepping up to her bike, Kali stopped when she saw a man leaning against it, with crow black-grey hair in a spiky hair style, faded red eyes, and stubble along his jaw. Along with a red, tattered cloak, he wears a gray dress shirt with a long tail, black dress pants and black dress shoes. He also wears a ring on his right index finger, two other rings on his right ring finger, and a crooked crucifix around his neck.
"Can I help you?" Kali questioned.
"Kali Ragnvald?"
"Depends who's asking." Kali said.
"My name's Qrow Branwen. I'm here with a special offer for you."
Kali sighed, before she stuck her thumb and index finger in her mouth, and whistled, making her bike come towards her, and for Qrow to fall to the ground as he no longer had anything to lean against, with the bike doing a quick U-Turn and stopping in front of Kali.
"What do you want?" Kali questioned, strapping her bag to the back on top of the saddle bags.
"Nice to meet you too." Qrow said, picking himself up, and dusting himself off. "Is the village leader dead?"
"Nope, just scared senseless." Kali said. "I repeat, what do you want?"
"An' I repeat, I'm here with a special offer for you."
"You've got ten seconds before I drive off into the distance." Kali stated, mounting her bike.
"You've caught the attention of some very powerful people, and one of them, is offering you a full paid scholarship to Beacon Academy." Qrow said, holding a card out to Kali.
The young Faunus took the card, and looked at it. The card itself was made of metal, and had an image of Beacon Academy on its surface.
"Professor Ozpin?" Kali asked.
"Yep."
"Give me some time to think about it." Kali said, tucking the card into her chest. "I've got a good thing going here. I get paid, I get to fight, and I get to save lives."
"But you're not properly licensed, and you'll face jail time if you're caught, and jail isn't exactly friendly to Faunus, anywhere." Qrow stated.
"Except Menagerie." Kali said. "Listen, I said I'll think about it. But don't get your hopes up." She stated, before driving off.
"Are you sure about this Kali?" Zaruba questioned.
"You know I don't do well around a large group of people. Can you even imagine me, being a student?" Kali questioned.
"Kali you're a bright young woman. Old enough to start attending one of the four academies, don't you think it's time you allowed yourself to actually experience school life?" Zaruba asked.
Kali was silent for a moment, before she sighed, and hit the breaks, turning the bike around on its front tire, with the back in the air, and drove back to the Inn, where Qrow was still waiting.
"I'll go. But if I end up not liking it, then I'm gone." Kali stated, after stopping in front of him.
"That's a fair request." Qrow said.
"So, when exactly do classes start?"
~A/N~
I know it's the same weapon for Athena in Mama Yang, but I don't care. I love that weapon I designed.
